As a band Zeps sense of dynamics is phenomenal. Also Plant and Bonham were 20 and 21 during this performance. I don’t know about you but I was barely functioning as a human let along doing something like this at that age.
Absolutely love these live Zeppelin reactions. Can literally just close your eyes and imagine you are there, hearing Robert Plant screaming in front of you, feeling Bonhams bass drum in your chest and getting lost in both John Paul Jones and Jimmy Pages sheer wizardry! Keep up the great work as always Andrew mate.
Ok, let's sit back and enjoy some Bonzo. OMFG, Robert is killing it!! Jesus, Jimmy is destroying it!! My Lord, JPJ is a legend!! Oh yeah, Bonzo is a monster!! Fucking Zeppelin man, how am I supposed to focus on just one facet of this band?
As much as I know this is supposed to be focusing on Bonham's drumming which is no less than outstanding as always, I've mainly come here for Page's insane guitar work. This has to easily be one of my favourite of his live performances, he absolutely kills it here.
Yes, I only knew this as the album version from Coda. I nearly shat myself and thought it was some weird trick when I could see John playing some of the notes I'd drooled over for years 🫨😵💫😵
Back in the late 90s I got a poor bootleg VHS copy of this concert and as a Zep fan I was disappointed, but also glad to have a piece of rare stuff. Then when the Led Zeppelin DVD was released in 2003 with the Royal Albert Hall film fully restored, I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. It blew me away and renewed my love for my favourite band.

ok with me if you repeat!!! RAH is my favorite filmed LZ concert and one of favorite live recorded performances. He is such a master and this is so early on in 1970 !!! Thank you for doing again - I always learn so much in your reactions.
I'm really glad that you get to enjoy this if you have not yet. -i mean this is such great drumming, musicianship, heavy rock, almost metal! In short this is great!
In case you didn’t know Jason Bonham was talking about his father , he said John didn’t start playing drums until he was 16 and didn’t take lessons either . Unbelievable. So this clip he was 21 that means 5 years of playing . That’s wow . Great videos mate
@@AndrewRooneyDrums I’m just relaying what Jason said , wether or not it’s true I’m not sure . I think he as a kid used to drum drum on pots and pans and such , again who knows . I do enjoy your videos , I’m a guitar player but I like watching drum videos ,
@@AndrewRooneyDrums I just watched the video where Jason talked about his dad what he said was his father was self taught , he didn’t have a drum kit till he was 16 I think he said he had a snare drum before the kit . The video on UA-cam says AXS tv. John Bonham talks to Sammy Hagar about what it was like to have a drummer father . Something like that if you look it up it’s only a few minutes long , and his son talked about learning from his father . Cheers mate
words cant express the highs, lows and emotions LZ creates with their sounds!!!!listen to john, jimmy, robert and john paul...each one contributes a separation among all others
Great reaction Andy! Excellent breakdown as the song was playing, keep doing that without the humorous editing for visual effects and you should be able to crank out reactions more efficiently. Keep doing what you are doing, stopping the track to teach and react. Bonham is so good on this! Sublime. 😎🥁
Request for a French fan. Im a New sub, but I follow you since many months.. You should love drum solo by Tommy aldridge, a great drummer. With whitesnake, in 2004 thats was epic ! Live performance. À little teast of John Bonham. Really amazing ! You should really listen !
Hi from France, Andrew ! Here we have a band that is not famous at all but rather excellent. It is called Hadouk Trio. It is a mix between jazz and foreign cultures. Steve Shehan, the percussionist, is really someone that you want to her; he's connected with the rythm. He plays with Moroccan kitchen brush on djembe that delivers something near the jazz brushes but with a warmer sound. I would suggest this live (ua-cam.com/video/bnMIYEe0GJs/v-deo.html) and the second sound 'Dragon de Lune' . Another jazz piece would be the drum solo of Mark Guiliana on this live of Dhafer Youssef : ua-cam.com/video/OBGYSBR0_FA/v-deo.html Have a great time in your beautiful country and prepare yourselves our great return in rugby ;)
"Here are Moroccan kitchen brushes, coming from southern Morocco. When I find them they are like this, very rough, very thick and the purpose is to work on them, to refine them, to make them able to be played with and on any percussion instrument. To refine them could be to rub them for days, like this, to simulate rain, and with time they become very fine and the rain becomes a small wood fire (the other brushes are 2 years old). And then, it becomes to be very pleasant to play with these brushes." ua-cam.com/video/z9ypyf--joY/v-deo.html
I believe John slightly overplayed in this version. I am a huge fan but there is so so much better stuff out there , especially live. The 1971 live stuff is real good , like Japan and Toronto version of Celebration Day where he is just a beast behind Jimmy. His foot is so fast that you need multiple listens to realize what he is doing.
I watched your reaction to Whole lotta love just before they blocked the video, I was gonna leave this comment there but I guess here works too. You know how UA-cam recommends videos following what you are watching, right? So this video came up, of a channel I am subscribed. ua-cam.com/video/I32SXgBWEIk/v-deo.html It’s the separate track of the percussion section for that record. What’s interesting is the picture that accompanies the audio track: you see there John Paul Jones, Plant and Bonham playing together. I think that it is interesting. I appreciate your reactions! Keep them coming, please and have a nice day.
So we gottah pay money for him to watch a video we recommend? I’m telling my drummer friends who are subs to this channel to unsubscribe.. it’s about 1 k..

Thanks for watching... Rock on!
There’s video footage of this concert. Absolutely work a watch
All of those guys were geniuses. Led Zeppelin is the best band in history. What they accomplished as a band is unmatched.
Without a doubt my favorite Zeppelin live performance.
whiskey a go - go is also outstanding
I like watching the video of this concert, it's on the five hour DVD.

imagine being sat behind jimmy fucking page, and STILL standing out!!!
HAHA Right!?
For me.. John Bonham just feels and sounds just right to each tune.. He can follow Jimmy and switch and follow Robert and it just feels right
I agree Roger!
They all had uniqueness, and that's what made them the best.

I believe this was recorded on Jimmy Page’s 24th birthday. The whole concert rocks hard!
26th birthday

One thing on my bucket list is to see a live show at Royal Albert Hall!
Me too!
And Red Rocks!
Love it! Can't get enough Bonham & Co!
Bohnnam is an absolute beast live!!!!
And... not sure if this was mentioned yet, but Bonham was 22 YEARS OLD in 1970. Let that sink in
Nuts John!
He was actually 21, not quite 22 yet, since this concert was Jan of 1970 and he did not turn 22 yet until May of 1970.

Him and plant were both 21 at this gig, jimmy was the oldest and this gig was his 26th birthday! They were sooo young

The problem with this kind of songs is that the most of the people focus on the guitar
with zep you can listen repeatedly and concentrate on what each member is doing
