Here it is: Arteza is a run-of-the-mill brand, FC is a professional brand. You simply can't compare the two. Even FC's lower-grade pencils will outperform the highest-grade Arteza pencils.

I currently know Norwegian, new Norwegian, English and German. I ain’t that good at German yet though. I am just 15 years old, so I am going to and have to learn more German in high school.

I've been using them a few months. If you're going to be using them for only blending 3 colors max they're very good, great if you like pencils that really saturate the paper. If you're going for lots of blending or later almost like a painting technique, these aren't the pencils for you. They get waxy very quickly, especially the light colors. I would suggest a harder core pencil. They also aren't great if you want a more subtle palette. They're quite vibrant. Great for most coloring books, but maybe not for all illustrations

btw, if you want to get rid of the paper showing, you have to "polish" the illustration. Like, get a olor pencil the collor of the paper and go real strong over all the parts. It makes everything really beautiful and seamless. Also, you may want to use a utulity cutter to sharpen the pencils, it works much better than a pencil sharpener and you loose way less collor lead.

You can blend colored pencil out with zest-it, or mineral spirit, or brush & Pencil powder blender, or colorless blender in pencil shape, or burnisher also shaped like a pencil. The first three blend medium allow you to put pencil layers on top.
I would be interested in the opaqueness of white and the way white works placed under, on top and both with any color.
When it comes to layering there is sanded paper or pastelmat well suited for.
Should you compare Faber to Arteza these are also measures of quality - how well desolves arteza with mineral spirit compared to Faber? How many layers before it is fully saturated? How opaque on black? How compare the whites?
By the way brush & pencil also has a texture spray to increase the number of layers with pencil. Jackson Art should have zest it, a liquid colored pencil blender much like mineral spirits and the products from brush & pencil, should you be interested in these products. As far as I know those are the only places to get them from with in Europe, at least as long as the UK is in the transition period.

Great review. I had actually purchased this 160 set from a reputable art supply seller on Ebay, just before Christmas last year. Everytime I went to sharpen one, the nib broke. I discovered nearly all the Pencils were broken inside. The Ebay seller refunded me, though they had offered to replace them.
I use Caren' D ache and inktense Pencils.
The Arteza Pencils, I must admit to not liking them very much. Though the set was made for professional artists, I didn't like the texture of the colours on the paper, and they felt scratchy on thinner paper. I'd tried them in a colouring book, (which was why I had bought them, then I could use my expensive set for my artwork.) I wasn't impressed with them, preferring still my cheaper ones I'd had for years.
I've tried several of their art products up to now, I have to admit, that they're not for me. Maybe it's due to being used to using my go to brands, as I do own cheaper brands of things, and use them frequently in my artwork. So I'm far from being an art snob.. Lol... I can't afford that luxury lol...
Keep safe, hope your OK, this lock down were experiencing in the UK is really becoming strict now. I do hope they irradicate this virus soon, or we will quite possibly end up with a world of people who have gone nuts!!

Also, Swedish is a gorgeous language. I hope to become fluent someday and retire in Sweden...it's my ultimate life goal. I hope your comments at the beginning were not because some tiny-brain trolls don't appreciate that educated people speak more than one language.
Layer 5 was my favourite, I love the earth tones. But I tend to be obsessive about keeping my art supplies in the order they came in the original packaging, and not having the color groups together would really bother me.

I found this late because I was investigating what some of the art-tubers I trust had to say about them. Thanks for the review! I did laugh at your Swedish comment. I passed it on to a Swedish friend of mine because he wanted to know what words they were. He translated them - as an English only speaker they're a mystery to me. As others have said, though, the internet needs to calm down. Not everyone pronounces words the same, and what's the big deal? This is especially true of people who are smart enough to speak more than one language. I only speak English. Badly half the time.

Definitely interested in seeing the side-by-side comparison - even better if you could add in the Prismacolor Premier pencils. Prismas are my favourite and I like my Polychromos too but because of the prices I only have the 72 pack of Prismas (found a serious bargain in an Amazon sale) and the 60 pack of Polychromos (a very generous birthday present from my best friend) so if the Arteza are up to the standard of these brands it would be absolutely fantastic and a lot easier to save up for. (It takes me a long time as I'm disabled and unable to work).
I felt so much better when you put them into colour order, it was giving me real anxiety seeing the weird order they put them in! 😊
To cut down on the white spaces left in the paper grain try using a wet blending medium such as odourless mineral spirits (I use Gamsol) on a dried up brush marker, paintbrush, cotton bud, paper stump etc to blend the colours together. This melts the wax/oil pigment together and gets rid of that texture and really makes it a lot smoother. It also refreshes a little bit of the tooth of the paper and means that you can get more layers 😊
    Hope these tips help 😊

I have a 72 set of these pencils. I dont hate them but they aren't as good as the prismacolors I'm used to. It's very hard to press down and get a ton of pigment on the paper without hurting your hand. Which is mostly a personal preference thing for me, but they aren't bad at all, but if you're used to prismacolors like I am, they work very differently, you've gotta build up colors a lot more slowly

I think the Arteza pencils are wax based while the polychromos are oil based. Oil based pencils tend to be more expensive than wax based from what I've seen. I'd like to see you compare them. I've wanted to try Arteza but Im not sure if I want to try them because wax based pencils usually leave pigment dust, which is sensory hell for me.

Hi I would've liked to see how different colour families blend and layer, like complimentary colours and how it looks if burnishing with white, or a burnishing pencil, or can it be blended with spirits. How would these pencils work on Bristol Board. How exhaustive are they on the hand compared to Polychromos.

Are they oil based like Polychromous or wax based like Prismacolor? Comparing them to Polychromous if they are wax based would not be a valid comparison.

I guess this is a good set to start with coloured pencils. Unfortunately I already have so many at home 😂

I actually love your accent, especially how you say color. I’ve been hearing impaired my whole life so I had a very bad impediment as a kid and pronounced everything “wrong” and people always laughed at me. I hated it and I still do when people point out shit like that. Like if you directly say a word and then go “is that how you say it??” Then that’s the only time you should correct someone in a casual encounter like this video.

I've heard good things about the tube set of 48 triangular ones - I believe the shape is the only real difference. I am a fan of the shape as they don't roll away when you put them down. They're a good price. It seems that the larger sets might not be worth it, if so many colours are similar. Is it just me or were there not very many reds? A smaller set would be a good choice for more serious beginners - I'm expecting my set of 48 triangular ones this week. I'll see how they compare to my polychromos, prismacolor and Derwent colour soft... I may have too many pencils 😆

The triangular ones aren't the same quality. They are 'Premium' but the professional ones are 'Expert'.
      Probably really good too.

I like to lay down marker first and then use pencil to minimize all of the white space that shows through with just pencil.
