when we bought our first motorhome the security guy told us it's not about stopping them it's to make the motorhome next to you an easier target. lots of visible security, cheap but very effective one is turn the driver's seat in and padlock it so it cannot be turned back. both a wheel clamp and a steering lock , I have a hiding place for my laptop but keep a (very) old one on the table. to reduce the time they spend inside your home a 120db alarm is a good bet
Love the video! My dad only used a 20 ft piece of rope to secure his caravan while out and about Never had any problems may have had something to do with the Alsatian on the end of it ! 😂 Great advice keep the videos coming stay safe 👍😎
Great video Daz... but I must admit... at 1:23 I was captivated by what appeared to be fish feeding on flies beneath the willow over your right shoulder! Pete
Great video mate very interesting and great channel. Saving up to get into van life. Keep seeing you about will say hello next time. All the best mate 🤝
I have a HUGE 80+KG Presa Canario Mastiff so i dont need to worry about anything or anyone! I have a 1990 Fiat Ducato, Elddis Autoquest 400 so plenty of room for just me & him! Happy Camping.....✌🏼💙
Just spent a small fortune on a security alarm system for my new van life home, many may say alarms don't work etc, but sure gives me some peace of mind knowing it is far harder to steal I hope.
With regard to door locks. I have Heosafe door locks on my Ford Transit based motorhome. They are excellent. Easy to fit and effective. It gives us a lot of confidence when parking off grid. Good video Darren.
Put an axe on the passenger seat with some blood on it and put a sticker in your window saying the only path I take is the psychopath that may make them think twice 🤣
I have no security to speak of...after 5 years people have knocked on my rv in the day and night asking "is anyone inside"? Sometimes i yell " yes, and sleeping till you woke me"! Others...i just roll over and go back to sleep...
Pretty sure my you tube is messed up cause this was Q & A’s and nothing about security 🤷♀️ great blog either way but was particularly interested in the security one
@@TheUrbanMotorhome Thats what it said, and thats what all the comments referred to but It was actually playing the Motorhome Monday video. No idea what was going on. I turned off my phone and tried again and found it :-) Ansd in fact it said this comment didn't post but obvs it did lol
Have you made any videos where you discuss the new wild camping law proposals that effect all people living in vans/motorhomes e.t.c? How is this going to affect the van dwelling community? I read there is a petition where they need 10,000 signatures which mean it will get debated in parliament but jeeeezus, those petitions aren't worth the paper they're written on. The Bill is already half way through it's legal stages of becoming law. The law also incorporates things regards protesting
Hear hear the best security I ve used for 30 years no probs takes seconds to fit it’s called // THE CLUTCH CLAW /// vest security fitted it secures both your clutch and Foot brake give it a look it’s on AMAZON @ £ 125 of off cost fits ANY vehicle still use mine
Spot on attitude mate. My parents in law had a safe bolted down to concrete in their house and burglars jemmied it out. Mate's Transit was winched onto a low loader off his driveway. If low life scum want it they will take it. If you can't bear to lose it, don't have it in the first place. Get good new for old insurance. None of the above stops me stressing about losing my van though 😆
Completely broken laptop on eBay, busted old camera, perhaps both flood damaged destroyed, broken iPhone, and broken fake Rolex bedside table. less than £50 the lot. All on the table, then put them all in the bag when you get back where your real ones are. With these little goodies, they can scrape them up and leave sharpish with that moronic grin these street rats have.
Factory car locks are a joke. Literally 2 blinks of an eye and the're open. Can't just change the keyhole, because the sheat metal around them is waek too. They just pry it out. They literally bend down, and peal your sliding door, if they want to.... So IF you have no windows in the habitation area, and all the cab windows got break protection films, plus you re-enforce the metal around the locks, still not enough. You can get disk-retainer type locks, and padlocks like the Abus granite (wich is expensive) and an average lockpicker may not be prepared for those, so it MAY take a few minutes, or they give up, but that's only IF they don't find any weaker spots to exploit. If they can see it, they can prepare for it, and they WILL. Now you think, okay, then I can have locks and bars on the inside, so even if they pick the outside lock it won't open, cause phisically can't. But you neead at least one exit where YOU left and can not possibly locked it from the inside. You can think about all the things above, but at the end of the day, it is your BEHAVIOUR that will determin, if you area victim or not. Your situational avareness, where you park, what do you let others see, how welcoming are you, when showing around someone, do you notice if somebody interested in your van, do you really go through all the things every time when you leave your van..... and the list goes on. Nobody can answer how can you be safe. You can't. You can only be prepared. Be the most inconvenient to try and break into, amogst the rest of the cars.
Uk not an unsafe place to live be honest. Like u said can drive off. When I get my motorhome I'm 6ft 3 x rugby player got 2 good hands. I'm sure Darren big boy if you can't fight yourself I'm sure you can talk yourself out of shit
If fitted with captain turning seat, fit a lock and lock driver seat in back facing position as security against van theft.
love these Mondays, even after 17yrs of motorhoming and wild camping I still can learn something new
Frying pan to the face 😂😂 brilliant!!! Just make sure it’s nice and hot!! 👍🏻 I always look forward to your videos! Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻

Only applies, if the scum can read!
Ive got a "self destruction circuit" near the propane bottle. They will have a hard time identify a thief after he touches the wrong cable.....
Here's an idea about laptops. Hide yours away but get hold of a broken one that you leave on the seat that's easy pickings but worth nothing to you.
Hi Daz really great motor home Monday really enjoyed watching really looking forward to seeing your next video keep safe 😷👍🏻
My electrician put a hidden switch to cut the power to the fuel pump.
Like the idea of giving a thief a Tefal tattoo across the face

Great video
I find that a Co2 pistol could be a dood deterrent, especially if you tell them that you'll aim for their eyes...
Really loud vehicle siren can make all the difference.
Touch my camper and I become, Dazza Dyer!!!

Put a blown up doll and a wig under a quilt visible through the window.

Can buy self contained mini cameras that take photos when they detect movement near your van you can place anywhere.
Just empty it in the lake 😊
The only things I would put in a safe are passport and other important documents. Maybe cash if I have any!
Exactly "if I have Any !" 😂😁😀😃😂😃

Get a £25 argos safe and put two tins of beans and a tin of sardines in it then the thieves won't go hungry when they run off with it.
Grey advice and content as usual. Don't mess with an angry Daz.....
No need for extra door locks when you've got plastic windows ?
(sarcasm)
Your spot on mate!
You don't want the laughing gas squirted into your fridge vents brother

No point upgrading locks on motor homes as they are soft skinned and easily cut around
Frying Pan 😂🤣👌🏻
