@@LSG101097 the creators weren't kicked, they left for reasons still unclear, I've heard two versions, one is that they were not willing to change a single bit of the series to make ir fit a live action format, another version is that they wanted to change too much, we'll know when we watch it. I think we're all having the same reaction. I mean when the gates of Omashu open up and it looks like THAT?! I went from optimistic to excited real fast. And yes to Iroh 10000%. So I originally started watching Avatar The last Airbender when my kids were young because they like the show and I found myself watching it when they weren't home. Such a amazing storytelling and the animation. Everything was so perfect. The movie that came out was terrible but I always look at it as the play that was put on the last season of the show when they went to the fire Nation and they were showing the avatar story. But this looks amazing, and yes, goosebumps up and down my arms. This is something that I know my adult children and I are all going to sit down and watch together
That's what happened with Netflix troll hunters. I originally watched it when I visited my niece so we had something to look forward to but I went rogue 😂

2:09 If you look closely, you'll see these are not fire-throwing balls but "rocket" firebenders, flying into the direction of what it seems to be an Earth village (EDIT: actually, it's an Air Temple, I'm sorry). Based on the fact that originally any soldier has never done that on-screen (except for Azula and also Jeong Jeong, if I remember), that's a crazy cool stuff. ^////^ 4:52 Among other things, I noticed that Azula is shown with her hair down, plus with red flames behind instead of the iconic blue ones (if you know what I'm referring to). Given the importance of this first detail, I suppose it could be one of "those" scenes from the last episodes, so they will have made some changes to some elements, or I'm wrong and it's a completely different scene (maybe the very first about her?), which however if it wasn't taken from the last "book" would thus make this huge detail I mentioned insignificant. I just hope that, despite this gorgeous trailer, by changing/switching something from the original plot they haven't gotten to the point where the story of ATLA is no longer relatable to the one we fans have learned to love, with all of its subtle hidden messages.
I assumed it's a flashback to her reaction shot when Zuko got his scar. Her hair could be down just to signify she was younger at that time (11 years old, I think) The flashback in the animated series made her look the same age she was in the series, despite it being 3 years beforehand, so this would actually be a bit of an improvement.
@@darkest1assassin Oopsie. Thank you for the correction, it makes more sense (even judging from the building in the background). Air place, not Earth village, sorry. I'm biased because we're not used to seeing much of this Nation in the cartoon, and the Fire Nation attacked them very first, taking advantage of the Comet's arrival (in fact it's linked to the first scene). So, the live-action will probably adapt even more about the past events that led to the secular conflict, and I'm so glad to find out about this.
I’ve watched so many reactions to the trailer and often come back to this one. It reminds me why your reaction to the original series was one of the best
Mason Quinn's quiet, "They didn't show Appa's face..." at the end of the trailer was great 🤣 EVERY single reactor has demanded that we see Appa's face, and I just picture it in Christian Bale's Batman voice. "SHOW ME HIS FACE!! SHOW IT!" I'm practicing my neutral Jing when it comes to the show...listening and waiting 😐 With 8 episodes and an hour each, that is enough time to cover the 1st season, so there's hope there; but I just hope they don't do season mixing storyline telling. Episode mixing is fine and makes sense, but mixing seasons would be....questionable
@@BlueRoseWolfie I saw someone else pull that up on a reaction video, but I wasn't sure if it was real or not. I'm curious to know why they didn't just show it in the teaser and decided to reveal it through a pic. It would have almost been funnier if they had kept it a secret and dramatically revealed it during the show as a self-aware joke against the movie 🤣
@@Bananies12 It's real, but who knows what their reasoning is for how they revealed. Maybe they only revealed so those who looked for it will see and the big reveal will come in the first full trailer?
I agree with Oak, I am extremely cautiously optimistic. The cast looks amazing and the bending effects look amazing too. Uncle Iroh looks exactly like the character, but I want to hear him speak. No one will ever replace Mako as the iconic voice, but I hope this actor sounds gentle and hopeful because that's what I think makes everyone drawn to him and wish they had someone like that in their life. It concerns me that they have Azula and Ozai this early though. In Book 1 we never see Ozai's face and Azula only shows up as a cameo, so it makes me wonder how much of the show they are trying to cover in this first season. If they are only covering Book 1 then they are taking liberties with the plot to make sure they get all the characters we know to appear in case the show doesn't get renewed. The only way their presence would work is if they expand Zuko's backstory more than we get in The Storm episode, which isn't a good idea. Part of the appeal of not knowing what Ozai looks like is that it adds to the sense of fear you have since Zuko is too traumatized to want to remember his face and Aang has only heard of his reputation. It should also be noted that the creators did work and collaborate with the show runners on this which is awesome, but they left after two years because they said Netflix wouldn't let them have creative control anymore and "whatever version ends up on screen, it will not be what Bryan and I had envisioned or intended to make." I had heard that the main reason they left is that Netflix wanted to make the themes more adult oriented. Whether that means more violent, more sexual content, or cussing I don't know. I really hope they don't do the last two though because this show was never about sensationalizing the dark themes and relationships between characters. Without the creators' blessing I don't think I will wholeheartedly enjoy it. After the creators left this show they created their own Avatar Studios production company. They are currently making an animated movie that will have all the ATLA characters as adults.
I've been following you guys for a year now I think, so I was here for the whole ATLA journey real time and this made me a bit nostalgic. I just love how you went from watching silently, not knowing what to expect to now calling out all the characters in the trailer and Oak just frantically gesturing at the screen every few seconds. It makes me happy to see others being as passionate about movies and shows as I am. It's been a lovely year with you guys, can't wait to see what's next!
Stayed up all night to watch this at geeked week and boy was i excited! All I kept thinking of was you guys reaction to it and I'm glad you all loved it. They showed appa's face. There's images on the internet now if you want to see it. You guys missed Azula (the girl with the reflection of fire in her eyes). I'm really excited to see how they incorporate her so early on in the show!!! Everything looks beyond amazing and I'm so hyped! 🌊⛰️🔥🌪️
I just adore the transition you guys made. just recently revisited the Avatar reaction you guys did and i could tell at least two of you were iffy with it at the start which is understandable. But now to see how hyped you are for the show and the remake just warms my heart
It almost made me cry to see the Kyoshi warriors. They’re not skipping “meaningless” arcs or the smaller ones, they’re really doing it this time. Even the acorn scene??? Omfg
I just got my tickets to see the live action concert THEN I get this teaser trailer!! My earthbender heart is overwhelmed! Great reaction guys, they just might do it with this one!
They even kept the high difference between Aang and Katara. Damn, it might actually work. I just hope they won’t overuse Ozai and Azula. Let Zhao be the main villain 😂
They actually been in the project for 5 years since they announced it (November 2018). So it’s been quite some time for us fans to finally get a tease trailer! It looks epic!
it's good that they casted young actors because we have 4 books to here, so meaning 4 seasons... it might be an 8-10 episode and an hour long series...my reasons as to why i liked that they casted young actors is because: 1) they will grow along the way... probably they shot the series here years ago before releasing this... 2) the animated show characters are in their teens... if i believe around 11-14 years old which is a perfect way to show throughout the seasons that they will certainly grow... also, i hope they will release the BTS and interviews of all the production staff especially the showrunners and directors to see if they really followed the animation series and want to see also the actors train and do all the stuff and also the stunts if they really did it on their own to fully grasp the characters that they portray... really excited for next year!
yes i was glad with that too! aang’s actor growing up with the show is accurate to the animation. and it’ll be even more amazing to see since it’s live action, he’ll look like a teenager by the end of this and not a little kid anymore.
Has everybody forgotten how those 3 seasons spanned 1 year? Obviously they'll probably change the series to reflect those exact circumstances, and it wont be the worst change imaginable, but it's a diversion from the source nonetheless.
@@kaisattelberg5548 that’s not even a horrible change from the source. it’s almost impossible to keep these actors looking the same as a year, especially aang
I’m 23 years old, these stories were my childhood and bonding with my father. I absolutely squealed and couldn’t resist my excitement as I was watching the trailer for the first time in your channel
There's not to many times movie's get a chance at redemption, but I think they did this time!! I seen Appa's face for this movie all I will say fellas you will be pleased!! It looks so great the fire in her eyes was such a cool shot!! I am so happy they decided to use Asian and indigenous (Inuit) actors!! The element symbols reminds me of the Divergent Element's in a way! And February 22nd 3 days before my 35th birthday LET'S GO!!!
It might be different for CGI graphic artists in films and shows, but speaking from a gaming perspective I know at least in that fire is actually fairly difficult to do well graphically. Making it look correct, dynamically light everything around it correctly and move in an organic way is actually pretty challenging to achieve without causing an uncanny valley effect at best. Modern tools have reduced this considerably so it may not be as true any more, but for quite a few generations quality fire effects were something of a graphical white whale.
as a Navajo/Diné: thank you for being respectful to our indigenous peoples. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 in the past, many people were very racist & sexist towards indigenous actors & our cultures. it's also good to have a media source that does not depict indigenous peoples as savages who were cannibals. 🧡🧡
I had watched other videos where they analyzed what was known about the making of this series and it sounded like it was a passion project for the creators, and I was so thrilled to see mere pictures and screenshots of the casting and their costumes. This teaser trailer confirms it for me. I have high hopes!
This teaser has me super hyped as well. What would make this series actually perfect is if Toph will be played by an actually blind actor. We disabled people need more positive representation in media, but we're only ever cast by non-disabled people. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping the actor for Toph will be actually blind.
This looks SO promising, I'm getting chills in the same way that I would when I rewatch the original show for the 50th time. The choices for casting are top-notch too. I hope Netflix delivers for all three parts x)
The Boy in the Iceberg first premiered on my birthday: February 21st in 2005. And now we're gonna get this, almost to the day, 24 years later? Best gift I could ask for 😭
After your ATLA and Korra journey is over, I hope you will consider Disney's animated series, Gargoyles, especially since a live action series was just green lit. The show was brilliant and I think you guys would love it. It was my ATLA when I was growing up.
I feel like the part of the earth kingdom they showed was omashu. It has the same cone like build as the anime. It’s looking pretty good right now. I have high hopes from this trailer and I can’t believe it’s almost here I was super surprised by the 22nd of February I was thinking it was coming middle to end of next year but caught me off guard by being at the beginning of next year.
The guy playing Uncle Iroh is the same guy who's been in The Mandalorian, Boba Fett, and Ahsoka as that New Republic X-Wing pilot. So I have no doubts about what we'll get from him as Iroh. I believe he'll pay proper homage to Mako without just copying him.
Seeing that you guys had posted a reaction to this trailer is how i found out there was a trailer 😂 Im supposed to be working right now but im far too busy being hype 😂
I love how uncle Iroh is loved by everyone who watched the series. The trailer was actually so good, I just hope all the names are said correctly as in the show. The CGI also looks fire, I am not one to criticize and be harsh but considering that it was a childhood show I definitely want it to get the justice it deserves. Fingers crossed guys, I will definitely be here to watch the reaction 😄
I mentioned this on your One Piece live action reaction, i'm really glad that you guys will be reacting to the ATLA live action also. Very curious if you would watch the upcoming Yu Yu Hakusho live action that Netflix is doing too, based on yet another beloved anime. As for manga/anime adaptations - might i suggest Alice In Borderland? They announced the final season, season 3, just a little while ago, but it's a really good series, and deals with a lot of life lessons and themes which i think Oak would also like, even if it is on the darker side of things, since it's of the death game genre. It has really good storytelling and action scenes though.
People are theorising they’re going to take Aang getting possessed by Kyoshi in Avatar Day and include it instead in the Warriors of Kyoshi episode. In the trailer when he drops down from the sky, he seems to be wearing green so he might be wearing her clothes
So FUN FACT: Netflix did an Appa face reveal on their facebook page. It's a great improvement over Shyamalan's depiction. Since it's only a still though I don't know for sure, but hopefully in an official full trailer we see his face in movement. I am so hyped though, terrified, but hyped!

@@adriva31 I know the first one. Thank you for the second info.
The Oak there looking like a little kid about to open his presents under the christmas tree lol
I’ve watched so many reactions to the trailer and often come back to this one. It reminds me why your reaction to the original series was one of the best
This is one hell of a redemption story for Live Action ATLA, because holy crap this looks incredible! And in February?! Ooh, we eating good!
WAIT FR!?!?
ON FEBRUARY!?
sht that's my bday month!
Oak's arms and hands were like 🙌🙌🙌
Excited is an understatement. I'm foaming in the mouth like that Kyoshi Villager.
Mason Quinn's quiet, "They didn't show Appa's face..." at the end of the trailer was great 🤣 EVERY single reactor has demanded that we see Appa's face, and I just picture it in Christian Bale's Batman voice. "SHOW ME HIS FACE!! SHOW IT!"
I'm practicing my neutral Jing when it comes to the show...listening and waiting 😐 With 8 episodes and an hour each, that is enough time to cover the 1st season, so there's hope there; but I just hope they don't do season mixing storyline telling. Episode mixing is fine and makes sense, but mixing seasons would be....questionable
Yes! Practicing my neutral jing too here 😀
Fun fact Netflix did reveal Appa's face, but on their facebook page. Its just a picture not a video, but it already looks worlds better.
It should also be noted that the creators did work and collaborate with the show runners on this which is awesome, but they left after two years because they said Netflix wouldn't let them have creative control anymore and "whatever version ends up on screen, it will not be what Bryan and I had envisioned or intended to make."
I had heard that the main reason they left is that Netflix wanted to make the themes more adult oriented.
Look at Oak trying to airbend
Omfg
That was the Kingdom of Omashu, where Aang used to go and play with Bumi.
After watching the teaser I immediately thought about you guys haha, this series is gonna be awesome
The first season was 7.6 hours in total. The live action series will be 8 hours, if they dont screw it up, they CAN do it all.
The Oak's reaction is priceless and had me in stitches! SUPER excited for this!
My favorite part of the trailer may be Katara gesturing at Momo, and Aang smiling. Implying that the characters are going to have personalities. :)
They released a photo of Appa on their Twitter account AND THEY DID OUR BOY SO GOOD
They actually been in the project for 5 years since they announced it (November 2018). So it’s been quite some time for us fans to finally get a tease trailer! It looks epic!
The oak just putting his hands out whenever he saw a good casting choice. Like THATS HOW YOU DO IT!!
I'VE NEVER CLICKED SO FAST! I haven't seen the trailer yet so I wanna see it with you guys!
The way the math adds up this live action actually has 20 minutes (or on episode) more runtime
it's good that they casted young actors because we have 4 books to here, so meaning 4 seasons... it might be an 8-10 episode and an hour long series...my reasons as to why i liked that they casted young actors is because:
1) they will grow along the way... probably they shot the series here years ago before releasing this...
@@kaisattelberg5548 not a solvable problem so not fair to expect anything else
@@kaisattelberg5548 that’s not even a horrible change from the source. it’s almost impossible to keep these actors looking the same as a year, especially aang
@@amby8719Yeah, instead of 100 years maybe Aang was frozen in just 96?
I’m so excited you guys reacted to this so fast.
I’m cautiously optimistic
Dallas Liu, the kid playing Prince Zuko, is a NASKA Alum. I've see him compete in Karate tournaments when he was a small kid and he's phenomenal.
0:31 lol the look they gave each other
I’m 23 years old, these stories were my childhood and bonding with my father.
Azula looks amazing
as a Navajo/Diné: thank you for being respectful to our indigenous peoples. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
in the past, many people were very racist & sexist towards indigenous actors & our cultures.
it's also good to have a media source that does not depict indigenous peoples as savages who were cannibals. 🧡🧡
Hype hype hype... Gordon's smile it's just like Aang's smile 😍
Oak saying please be good please be good please be good is what every fan said when they clicked to watch the teaser hahaha😂 we with you!
My hype flared at four points: omashu, zukos scar, the way the arrow lit up, and how good momo looks
I had watched other videos where they analyzed what was known about the making of this series and it sounded like it was a passion project for the creators, and I was so thrilled to see mere pictures and screenshots of the casting and their costumes. This teaser trailer confirms it for me. I have high hopes!
The city of Omashu looks incredible!
I'm ridiculously excited to see this!! I am really hopeful for this series.
If you freeze the scene where Omashu's door open, you'll see a cabbage stall. 🤣
The Boy in the Iceberg first premiered on my birthday: February 21st in 2005. And now we're gonna get this, almost to the day, 24 years later? Best gift I could ask for 😭
THEY DID show Appa's face on Twitter, he looks great!
I was just as excited and blown away when I saw this as you, people are going crazy over this.
I'm ridiculously excited to see this!! I am really hopeful for this series.🥰
😭 the fire bending already looks so much better (they don't need fire pits to fire bend). I'm so hyped! I hope netflix drops one episode at a time!
I had no idea about the teaser until you guy uploaded this 😢😂so excited!
M. Night Shamalamadingdong, eat your heart out!
I saw some pictures of Appa, he looks very cute❤ Greetings from Germany😻
ive been waiting for this reaction from you guys the whole day
After your ATLA and Korra journey is over, I hope you will consider Disney's animated series, Gargoyles, especially since a live action series was just green lit. The show was brilliant and I think you guys would love it. It was my ATLA when I was growing up.
Oak silently losing his mind is amazing haha
My brothers and I were legit emotional on how beautiful it looked I’m so excited.
With the comet in the beginning it looks like when the fire nation wiping out the air benders.
I cried a little... Can't wait for this ❤❤❤
I feel like the part of the earth kingdom they showed was omashu. It has the same cone like build as the anime. It’s looking pretty good right now. I have high hopes from this trailer and I can’t believe it’s almost here I was super surprised by the 22nd of February I was thinking it was coming middle to end of next year but caught me off guard by being at the beginning of next year.
When I saw the teaser, all I could thing of is you guys taking about appa's face 😂😂💙
Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is golden casting for uncle Iroh!!
They showed Appa's face on Instagram, and it looks really good.
It's yip, tip time!
It's so majestic, so beautiful. The music hits hard!!! I’m not crying... just... waterbending with my eyes
3:42 Uncle Iro is played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee from Ki'm's Convenience
Fire Lord is played by Daniel Dae Kim from Hawaii Five-O
My first thought was that he seems a little old for Ozai, but perhaps too young for Azulon.
Appa’s face is revealed on Netflix’s IG and he looks adorable!
Seeing that you guys had posted a reaction to this trailer is how i found out there was a trailer 😂
Im supposed to be working right now but im far too busy being hype 😂
I just hope that they don't remove all of the humour because the trailer was pretty serious.
Haha, I said the exact same thing. “Please be good, please be good” 😂
Love the Oak's hype for this show!
Somehow the actor they chose to play sokka exudes sokka energy even at a glance.
9:23 I don’t know if you guys saw it yet but they showed apps in a post on instagram. He definitely looked a lot better than the movie.
Ive been checking since netflix released the video for your reaction!!
I don't know why but I just can't wait to see Kyhoshi in a flashback or in the Avatar Day episode (if it's there).
Really hope they make a poster of that shot of the boy in the iceberg moment cause that was stunning.
They are showing the destruction of the air temples in the beginning 😢
