This was definitely the best video I have watched on anything related to aviation. Every detail was explained in such a detail that you can't misunderstand the content. It didn't hurt to throw in a bit of humor in between either. In other words it was fantastic. I'll say as someone else, I will watch this again just to take it all in. I'm too old to fly for real but never too old to play with the big ones in the simulator. Thanks a lot.

Thank you very much for that comment, I'm happy it helped. And no, never too old to sim!
I remember a saying that went "don't stop doing things, just because you're getting old - coz you only get old when you stop doing things"
I hit 40 earlier this year, which freaked me out. 39 was fine, 40 - I remember when I was young, 40 was old!

Nice to have what I thought was right confirmed, but I still learned quite a lot from the whole video. So many thanks and I have been flying the X-Plane simulators since 2004. So you can teach an old dog new tricks. Can I also compliment you on your instructional technique, keep it simple and repeat until the student can recite AND understand or get cuffed around the ear. That my friend was awesome! Before I watched this video, whenever I looked at Navigraph charts, all I could ever see was alphabet soup. It all looked so daunting, I more often than not, closed the app again. But now it all makes sense. You have an uncanny way of explaining something that is seemingly unfathomable into bite sized sections that explain everything that even old noobs like me can fully understand. I know I will watch this again in future. Thank you for making this video, and I already look forward to watching more future content from you. Cheers.

Thank you for explaining for how to understand the charts, Now some airports doesn't have SID OR STAR is it fine to create a custom SID and STAR to make Realistic Flight plan?

    • @InternetFlightRules
      @InternetFlightRules  10 місяців тому +1

On the airport's that don't have SID or STARs, there is really no such thing as making your own (think standard...)
In other words, there is no prescribed departure or arrival procedure, so coming in, you would just go straight to the approach procedure. If there isn't one, then the airfield is not IFR capable.
If I am unfamiliar with an airfield, I will look at the missed approach (go around) procedure, and follow that as my "departure procedure" if needed... Typically this will be while I'm below the MSA (also found on approach chart).
Failing that, it's quiet, good visibility etc, then it's simply runway heading to 1,000ft AGL - then turn towards first waypoint.
In terms of planning this would simply look like the following:
      EGAB DCT BEL...
(St Angelo Airfield - Direct - Belfast VOR...)
That is ok to do, and ok to file. The specific Airfield I gave had zero procedures at all, so the example would be the same at the other end too, ie
      BEL DCT EGAB
hope this helps, and perhaps a real commercial pilot can add some more details

Thank you soo much for being clear and cutting all the BS jargon. I feel like a lot of Sim UA-camrs try to sound smart instead of teaching. Save the smart talk for live stream maybe. You've done great. I've subbed.

Dear Sir, thank you for your tutorial. - Please allow a short feedback:
The terminology does not always coincide with ICAO definitions:
ATIS, SID, track/radial associated with VOR, QDM/QDR used in a NDB-context, alt vs height, hecto Pascal/MB/QNH/QNE/QFE, minimas of the ILS-cat. III C, the continuous zooming in and out makes it a bit difficult for a neophyte.........
Looking forward to your next video
    Ind regards from Kitzhbühel, AT

Sir, thank you so much for this excellent explanation of charts!! I always looked at charts, understanding less than half, leaving it all to the vnav & lnav. But now i understand why. Good pace, nice voice. Looking forward to further videos 🎉

Good video! But all that zooming make me sick.... No need for zooming in that close. Zoom to half page and that's ok.

Gotta say that I found the constant zooming and panning very disconcerting. Perhaps consider for future videos.
