The historical relationship between Cao Pi and Lady Zhen was the exact polar opposite of DW9's portrayal. Cao Pi tortured Lady Zhen to the point that he actually ordered her to commit suicide in 221, only a year after he ascended to the throne as the Wei Emperor.

They turn all these relationships into romance but most of them were not that great lol. Irl he found her cowering in her husband's lands when they defeated Yuan Shao's sons and then took her as his own wife. Later he began to favour his concubine more who was trying to manipulate him by claiming his child with Lady Zhen wasn't his but her previous husband Yuan Xi's. After she complained about him siding with his concubine over her he had her commit suicide then had her body desecrated for her burial by messing up her hair and stuffing her mouth full of rice. So romantic! I guess at least after killing her and making his concubine Empress he did treat her well, so that's something for Cao Pi who was a massive dick otherwise.
