My power supply tip: after you label them, put them in heavy duty clear bags (I use 4 mil) and put them in a box/drawer. You can read the label through the bag, and they never tangle because they're separated in bags!
Good idea. I always label but have been using rubber bands on the cables but as we know rubber bands deteriorate and often harden and glue themselves to whatever they are wrapped around. I reckon I need to order a supply of commercial bags in about three sizes because sandwich bags are not strong enough.
@@Garflips Thanks! Yeah it has worked out for me for the last couple years. I definitely recommend at least 4mil thickness, they've been really sturdy, but thin enough where you can still see through them.
Good idea! And yeah, bags labeled as "freezer" bags are generally thicker than typical "storage" or "sandwich" bags, and thicker is definitely important for this use-case. I always use the Velcro ties with my cables and power adapters, but my power adapter drawer is so full that some tangling still occurs. Bagging them up may be just the ticket.
I like Ty's new mood, he seems to be less "hater" about some things, not in a bad way. He seems to be more relaxed and cool with life than before :) Loved the stream!
I also love his honesty…especially re Polybrute. I got one And I totally agree with his assessment. I loved everything about it except the sound, so I returned it.… And I’m glad I did.
Another way to look at/use VCV is as a function machine for your rack. I use its LFOs VCAs Logic etc for my rack. That way I save money on stuff like LFO modules and can put that towards fun stuff like an ER-301, Panharmonium etc. LFOs, for example can be expensive and take up valuable HP….in VCV I can have as many as my computer can handle. Fun stuff
My wallwart/psu solution is to label them and then keep them with the machine they belong to, either in the box said machine came in or just on top of whatever piece of plastic/cloth I have covering the apparatus in a sad attempt to keep it free of dust. This way any time I am looking for a psu I only have to ask myself "where is the machine?". I like Jamie's idea though but I can't see the advantage unless you use one psu for different machines,.
Baloran the River is a polysynth few talk about. Its phenomenal. Of the list i agree the polybrute raw oscillators are not quite right but oh man the interface is wonderful. Quantum is beautiful but intimidating with all it can do.
A Hydrasynth could do NRPN faders which are wider than a midi range. So what the heck, buy the synth for high-resolution faders. Well, knobs. Then the macro buttons can reset to zero like the TouchOSC example. But harder to use. Hooray!
It's a shame the pros don't take VCV rack seriously. It's so much more than just 'prototyping,' it's pretty capable and sounds great, miles away from softube, imo. I get it though, if you got the hardware, what's the point then? It's good for people who have no access to the real thing or want a clean setup. And to answer Jamie's question, yes, vcv has a "cv" to midi module that can modulate daw parameters and can also be used as an fx unit.
I tried them all, VCV Rack, Softube, Voltage modular. The software one i prefer the most is MiRack on IOS (this is like VCV Rack for IOS) because it is easy to use and has a lot of usefull modules. For me software can never compete with analog hardware. That is the beauty of modular hardware and the reason why people buy it. It is all about the interaction with your musical instrument, the feeling of hardware is not the same with software...
Great topics and Jamie made it moving. I really liked this session qute a lot. NIce one! I like that part about fixing kids. Is there a manual to download, Nick? I would love to have one.
F_F_F_Faders and nobody talks about the FaderPort 16 from Presonus or the AtoVproject or the Solid State Logic UF8 or...so many already existing fadercontollers? According to Jamie a good fadercontroller still has to be invented???
Can Jamie Lidell shut up for once please! Whole the show he is noisy... like a todler that needs attention. I'm sorry to be so outspoken but this needs to be said at least for once. I watch your show about every week. So keep on going Nick. Thumbs up.

Adjustable zip ties are key for managing cables and power supplies
Jamie Lidell just makes so good sense ! - Thanx for a great show - - -all I missed was the chat - but THATS my own fault ! ;-) ☝

I'm definitely referring this episode as "Liquorice Store".
the german midicontroller manufacturer is "faderfox" ;) -great controllers fully worth the money and a really nice guy

Ty you guys are all talking about the same faders. Man mit der machine. Not out yet. Expensive. Super cool concept and looking.

Anyone got a Behringer X Touch? Quite like the look of the Compact, does it have the same faders as the One?
Ableton is amazing. Max is god tier when coupled with expert sleepers and outboard.
You forgot about the solid state logic fader controller released recently. U8 or something like that
UF8
There where other companies before VCV that did the same. An example is Creamware Pulsar Modular.
Great show as always guys, thanks!
‘Work is overrated’. Let’s play!
Hey Nick, great show as usual and welcome to Apple M1 club :)
still have the faderboard :)

Cooooooool 💪💪
good white gaffa...sharpie
Faderfox for midi faders.
Do faderfox have any motorized faders tho? If so, I'd be all over that idea. Faderfox make good products.
hi viz✌️
Software that sounds good can be controlled through hardware if it’s legibly coded to do so. A good midi learn, controller and a decent daw. Ez pz.
Prince Alexander lol
What in god's name is, "tat"?
In this context, bits of gear accumulated over time. The things you no longer use, but keep because "it will come in handy one day"

What’s wrong with some free asmr?😉
I appreciate his input.
@@jmcoffin1👍 It"s well worth the 'noise" he makes.
