I've been struggling so much on this game and this video helped massively. Also, as someone who has followed you for a while its insane to see you in a game like this and I'm able to play as you. Don't take that for granted man.
Great, i'm looking forward to this series. About sticking to one car: I would add that at the same time one should not be afraid to try others cars. For example, if you main car is mid engined, try a front engine car and see how it behaves and try to match your laptimes. I did this and saw improvements for my driving in mid engine cars, because i realized, that i have overdriven the ferrari too much, which was somewhat masked, because mid engine cars are inherently more responsive. When i jumped into front engine cars, this fault in my driving became apparent, because i had to drive in a more anticipatory way. Maybe it is just me, but i think it would have taken me way longer to correct some of my driving mistakes and bad habits, if i would not have switched cars for some time. I also found new love for the ferrari, which became a bit stale after 100h of exculsively driving it.
The problem i think as well is alot of people have jumped into ACC from either non sim games or older games that maybe just dont have the realism to provide you with good training. One of the downsides of ACC stellar simulation of the cars, is that the cars are a quite high level of motorsport in of themselves, to drive them fast you need to understand what is going on with the car and this isnt immediately apparent if you haven't had the training, for example, driven slower classes or cars where their characteristics are more apparent for learning. Just like real life you just dont step into a high class of car with no experience and if you do you generally need an entire team explaining it to you, in Sim Racing you can be on your own in this regard. I for one, having never driven iracing (coming from GTR2 essentially) for example prior to many months in ACC, where i had i would say, above average, decent pace found that driving the slower cars in Iracing taught me much more about what was actually going on in the car and has improved my driving across the board. So in that regard, i would agree that changing cars can be very helpful for learning what is going on.
I noticed that as well. After getting my feet wet the first time I decided to choose my car. I lapped every car around Spa for 10 Laps and made notes. I didn't look at the times, and more on how the car feels. The cars that survived that went on to Nürburgring, and so on. I learned that I like mid and rear-engines more. Before that I drove the McLaren, but fell a bit in love with the porsche. So I practiced with that car. The funny thing is, when I felt like the car is getting to hard for my skill and the goals I wanted to reach, I switched back to the McLaren, and was immediately a lot faster then before. So taming the Porsche to some degree made me a better driver in general. While one should focus on a car in the beginning, driving other cars can teach you things because that other car NEEDS it to function, while your car is correcting errors for you.
Really enjoy the instruction/pointers in your posts from someone who has actually walked the walk and have really benefited from your f1 2020 setups massively. As someone who’s not tech savvy, I’m looking forward to the content on ACC as there’s plenty of room for improvement for me in that game.
Wet line in ACC is weird but it exists but it’s hard to make use of it, when there is transition from wet dry to wet from full optimum and there are not many cars on the track there is still rubber on the line and it’s sloppy, then you can try using something that resembles wet line, brake off the line or use different exit, but all that is not that beneficial and that rubber gets washed out in a matter few laps, the more cars on the track the faster it will disappear, and then of course you just use normal line. Also when it starts raining and you are on slicks you can get some marbles on the tyres but it’s also not that effective as I think it could be, slicks grain so quickly and so much on wet and in low temp in ACC
You are awesome James ! And there are thousands of people who need exactly those series and do not ever think they will be boring! You do them really great ! Thx for the great work 🤛❤️
Morning gents. I follow you both. May I ask some advice please? I have a high end set up: Fanatec DD2 etc... RTX 3090 Suprim X etc... Trak Racer TR160 etc... I am currently running triple 43” 4K ASUS monitors. A- Am I expecting too much of my PC to successfully perform ACC on these monitors? B- What, in your opinion is the ‘ultimate’ monitor size to get the maximum potential from my Reign Vanguard Supreme PC? C- What ‘advanced settings’ resolution should I set them at? Thank you. Richard
Hi Richard 🤛 I believe with 43 inches size monitors you can successfully recreate the proper scale of you virtual world and my only advice is to play a bit with the eye distance settings! For example, in this size you probably have your monitors behind your wheel base and the physical distance is probably over 70cm ! Try to put in game around 50cm distance and play a bit with your seat distance in the software! That will give you more sense of speed because of the depth of the picture you gonna get ! For the resolution I believe triple 4k is hard even for your RTX 3090 and you will need to play a bit with the graphics settings to get fluid gaming experience! You probably have to ask Will from boosted media for his game settings! I use triple 1440p and my 3090 just manage to keep 65-75 fps on maximum settings! And lastly, your monitors size is more then enough and anything above that is overkill! And the size doesn’t matter for the PC performance! Performance depends on the resolution! Have a great day buddy 🤛
Hey James, just wanted to add, that if you set your Fanatac/Thrustmaster/Logitech wheel rotation to 900, and in-game wheel rotation number to 900 as well, the game automatically adjusts the wheel rotation for each car.
The problem with that is that you don’t get soft lock unfortunately which you did on original AC, so if you want to have a soft lock then you need to set rotation for all the cars manually in both windows and in game, but since in acc you rarely go lock to lock you can just use full 900 wheel rotation both in Windows and ingame and let game align everything
@@Tortellinii Oh that's interesting. Well this 900 in and out of game was what Aris suggested in one of his videos a while back. But I should try out this way and see if there's any difference.
I’m just starting on ACC (oddly enough also the acronym of my favourite bass amps) and got a wheel and boy oh boy this is the realest thing I’ve ever seen. Love it. F12022 feels like a kids game after trying ACC

This is going to be an awesome series! Thank you so much for sharing your FFB settings as it gives us a reference to how a GT car would feel from an actual driver.
Huuge thank you for the wheel rotation for each car, the Porsche GT3 i struggle the most to drive! Also we need a video explaining the wheel settings specified that would help alot, because all other videos are just useless and they can’t explain precisely
Outstanding video good sir. I struggled for months with my simucube FFB setting vs. in-game FFB settings and you have me sorted with your recommendations. I immediately felt a HUGE difference. Thanks so much!
I think this video just saved me $1,800.00. I thought I had to buy a DD in order to get the kind of feedback I'm now getting from my CSL Elite thanks to your Wheel Base setting in the description. I've messed with the setting before, but honestly didn't know what was what. After just a few quick laps at Silverstone I'm close to a second faster because I can actually feel what the tires are doing and catch the slide before I'm facing the wrong way. While all the advice in the video is great, if you're pretty new to Fanatec or just a dumbski like me these setting are like a gift from God.
This is just what I needed man, and it’s really helpful to have tips on the wheel rotation as it can vary so much from car to car on ACC and causes me lots of headaches trying to find what works best! In the car setup you can obviously adjust this too (under mechanical grip), am I right in thinking you leave this untouched in the set and just strictly keep to 480 in the McLaren for example?
I might be mistaken but I strongly think the wheel rotation was adressed several updates ago, and right now you just have to set your wheel rotation in ingame controls settings and that´s all, the rotation will adjust automatically depending on the car you choose.
so many things in this that you mention now i realise im doing myself never noticed until you said weight transfer etc down shift rhythm new sub this series is soo good for us new guys was of opinion of driver aids off or 1 untill recently now brakes are bang on so consistent and add loads more confidence in the car brake balance i found can completely change the car and one car deffinately pays you end up knowing how its gonna behave (Sort of !!)can think ahead more

Thanks for this! Abo for you, hopefully a lot of more content, hopefully especially a lot for newbies like me... 👍👍👍👍👍Great vid!!
Thanks for this Mate. I have so needed this Sim explained in this way. I have had ACC for a little more than a year and have hit a wall in progressing. I love racing but don't finish very well in races that the AI is over 75. I keep it set to 90 and 85 and usually sniffing around last place I think because of set-up, race style and car choice (I use the Merc). I am using a AccuForce V2 and load cell pedals. Am anxiously looking forward to this series and am going to be your newest subscriber (hitting the button now, Lol). Thanks again.
I always thought that ACC automatically adjust ur rotation dependant on car u use, I thought in setting u jus set ur max rotation ur wheel was capable of
Thanks James, great stuff. I was looking for some tips and advice cause I'm at that sweet spot of being 2,5-3 second slower than the aliens, and watching lap guides won't really help anymore cause I just can't spot 2 tenths of a second per corner. Starting to get a bit frustrated with this whole sim racing thing to be honest, but now I know where I might loose that time. My braking is still messy as hell and I had my mind set on getting that text book perfect trail brake pedal input instead of focusing on the perfect weight transfer. Which is the whole bloody point of it. And that bit on downshifting may explain why I can make a corner one lap, and overshoot it completely in the next one, while braking at the same exact spot. Now, off to practice!
Just wanna mention that ACC does have varying track conditions. So if the track is rubbered in, it’ll be very slippery when wet on the dry line when it starts raining. After some laps in rain, the rubber washes off and dry line can be used again.
And I will try to use your FFB ideas for my Fanatec 2.5 base, the one I choose the first days since now I am not happy with, thanks for show us your settings !!
From someone who’s just switched to PC from PS4, those wheel rotation settings are for console only surely? Been like that since the game came out. PC does it automatically for you if you set your wheel and in game rotation to 1080. At least that’s what I’m seeing...
that was exactly my thinking, but im going to set the in game rotation to his recommended and set it on my DD1 aswell and see what happens, maybe we are missing a trick lol
Love the video and the tips. I know that this is preference wise but just to be sure i also have a Clubsport v2.5 and with the v3 pedal's . But have some doubts , here are my values that differs from you SEN - 900 ( set to this since this way is auto ? Im driving the MClaren and when i chose 480 i turn my wheel a bit and in game it rotates a lot, dont know if im doing something wrong) DRI - mine is at -2 to set it to OFF as you, should i put at 0 ? BLI - Vibrators of the break pedal - just for curiosity do you set yours to off ? ABS - cannot find it under my options Fanalab Have a Dynamic FFB tab as well, would be very interested on your settings there as well. Previously i was following the Fanatec Settings from their site and in game the Dynamic damping was set to 100% and you have it at 0% could you explain the difference here ?
Nice video. Looking forward to the next. Not sure if James will add this in a video. But if you are torn between a few cars, take them all for a 20-30 minute drive and take the one that felt the best. A car may be very nice on brand spanking new tired but become very easy to over drive once you get a few laps on them.
Thanks James for the excellent topics and the massive knowledge shared with everyone. I'm definitely taking what you spoke to the rig tomorrow to see what I can do to get up the grid from the back. Thanks and good luck in 2021!
Just the settings I was looking for for my Club Sport v2.5 and McLaren rim. I wasn't sure how the ffb should feel until now. Thank you kind sir! P.S. I won't drive your car so I can race against you. :-P
Hey James great vid. 🔥 What do you think of cockpit view in the sim with the wheel hidden (as you have one in front of you)? Isnt it more realistic? Asking because ive noticed you use a completely different view from most sim racers
Very interesting series and thank you for sharing your wheel base and ACC settings. I gave them a try with my CSL Elite and I have to say it felt a bit irritating, as the wheelbase was constantly rumbling and making strange sounds on straight lines... it might be because of the road effects being turned up so high then, not sure if this is intended ^^ But it seems turning down Dynamic Dampening is def. a good idea in general... gives way more finer feeling!
Hi James ...Long time Fan from NZ.. I have a TS PC Racer wheel can you tell me what strength your Real life McLaren produces in the wheel and GT3 real life cars in general.. Just would like to know what is more realistic Simulation wise as far as wheel strength into corners at speed.. Great Career so far mate
Did you find that upgrading to the direct drive Sim Cube, vs the 2.5 made a difference in lap times, consistency etc? Is the hype (and counter hype) real? Also, when you mean "wheel rotation", is this the same as steering ratio? ie - lower number; the "faster" the wheel turns / less input for a given amount of turn in? Would you say this is more of a personal preference, or in your experience, feel it's necessary to get the best performance/times?
Hey James, thanks for the video. Are you planning to publish any video sharing your FFB settings? Looks like you are using a Fanatec and that would be really helpful. If not a video, maybe just sharing the settings of the wheel and the in-game. Cheers.
ACC is my main game, around 1000 hours now but ill still take any tip you want to share so nice one. a question though, im using a fanatec DD1 and have always set my wheel rotation to 1080 degrees on the base and in game with the steering wheels perfectly matched, when you recommend changing the rotation do you mean in game only, on base only or on both, cheers.
With those rotation settings i'm assuming the in-game rotation needs to match the fanatec wheel settings ? Interesting for BRF you have that off, since the January firmware 400 update for CSL there's now a "BLI" setting too for rumble effects in certain pedals V2s, V3s etc
So what do you actually do with these wheel rotation values? I was under the impression that you should just leave your wheel at whatever the max setting is and that ACC will take care of the rotation automatically unlike F1 2020 where you need your wheel somewhere around 360 degrees in the software.
Thought the same.. I tried the James said and put ingame rotation to 640 + 640 on my Fanatec CSW V2.5 to see what happens. At first look, nothing changes, rotation on my wheel still matches the rotation of the wheel ingame, same rotation angle as before, but however, it feels different. Like a little bit more responsive and faster but i just dont know why. Only thing changed is, that the soft lock of the wheel now comes earlier, but rotation angle isnt effected..I will try those angle settings for a while now, seems to be faster for me though
Solid video mate. A shame that no game truly gets wet weather right. Defo need to get on ACC more though. Will bear these tips in mind when I do

Fanalab Have a Dynamic FFB tab as well, would be very interested on your settings there as well.
Previously i was following the Fanatec Settings from their site and in game the Dynamic damping was set to 100% and you have it at 0% could you explain the difference here ?
Great stuff dude, can't wait to see more of this.
I’m not one for watching tutorials,, great vid easy to watch & learn so far.. Which vid next ?
Nice video. Looking forward to the next. Not sure if James will add this in a video. But if you are torn between a few cars, take them all for a 20-30 minute drive and take the one that felt the best. A car may be very nice on brand spanking new tired but become very easy to over drive once you get a few laps on them.

@@Spotter- man, who’s the punk?
Great stuff mate, cheers!
Love these videos man would love to know more of your tips and tricks.
Pretty general but a couple of big tips in there, could easily be more technical too, 10/10 vid
Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks James for the excellent topics and the massive knowledge shared with everyone. I'm definitely taking what you spoke to the rig tomorrow to see what I can do to get up the grid from the back. Thanks and good luck in 2021!
Great advice.. looking for the next one 👍👍👍
Just the settings I was looking for for my Club Sport v2.5 and McLaren rim. I wasn't sure how the ffb should feel until now. Thank you kind sir!
P.S. I won't drive your car so I can race against you. :-P
Good job James 👍🏽
completely different settings than i have on csl elite.. going to try them out, tnx
Hope you going to get far in your career
Nice video mate! Had to subcribe, as i recently got in to acc, i'm still an amateur, but i'm really enjoying the game so far.
gr8 vid mate
Hey James great vid. 🔥 What do you think of cockpit view in the sim with the wheel hidden (as you have one in front of you)? Isnt it more realistic? Asking because ive noticed you use a completely different view from most sim racers
Great video, liked and subbed for the next in the series.
Good video James.😃👍
Thanks for the vid Jaaames! Really informative.
You are a legend Jaaaames mate cheers for the info! 😁 I absolutely love ACC too
Very interesting series and thank you for sharing your wheel base and ACC settings.
Thank you I'm going to watch through this whole series because I'm new to acc
Up the jaames 😎
Good info, thanks!
Great Career so far mate
for the wheel rotation is the values you give meant to be set in-game or in the software for the wheel? Great video mate.
Both my friend!
Great video, acc is so hard to find speed. Thanks for this 👍🏾
Haha this was sooner then I thought haha .. I asked in stream last night well more like begged thank you !!!
You don't think he whipped up a whole series in one day right?
Did you find that upgrading to the direct drive Sim Cube, vs the 2.5 made a difference in lap times, consistency etc? Is the hype (and counter hype) real? Also, when you mean "wheel rotation", is this the same as steering ratio? ie - lower number; the "faster" the wheel turns / less input for a given amount of turn in? Would you say this is more of a personal preference, or in your experience, feel it's necessary to get the best performance/times?
Great info, thanks James.
Hey James, thanks for the video. Are you planning to publish any video sharing your FFB settings? Looks like you are using a Fanatec and that would be really helpful. If not a video, maybe just sharing the settings of the wheel and the in-game.
Cheers.
Whether the gt4 cars are accurate or not…..they sure are fun to drive!
I love the “boring” stuff
Great video thanks James, what SEN do you use for the CSL Elite with the McLaren ?
ACC is my main game, around 1000 hours now but ill still take any tip you want to share so nice one. a question though, im using a fanatec DD1 and have always set my wheel rotation to 1080 degrees on the base and in game with the steering wheels perfectly matched, when you recommend changing the rotation do you mean in game only, on base only or on both, cheers.
Great vid thanks so do you set the wheel rotation in game and on your wheel or both please ?? 👍
Thanks mate that's great 👍
Thank you very much.
With those rotation settings i'm assuming the in-game rotation needs to match the fanatec wheel settings ? Interesting for BRF you have that off, since the January firmware 400 update for CSL there's now a "BLI" setting too for rumble effects in certain pedals V2s, V3s etc
Great video, what sensitivity do you use for the csl elite?
Christmas came early!
these videos might actually get me to reinstall the game and try one more time.
Good day James. When the other planned videos will be posted. Especially setup tips, car behavior etc?
The wheel rotation values should be set from the in game menu, leave wheel settings at default depending on your wheel
Great content! Would you please post the force feedback settings for simucube 2 pro and BMW M4?
