Personally, i vividly remember the teenager pitch invader for messi during a charity match in China, and chinese netizens treat him like a hero. Many people like to imagine pitch invaders as "dream chasers", and straight up ignore everything about rules and conduct conveniently.
I know a lot of people who got dozens to hundreds of thousands of followers on instagram and twitter out of doing this shit since people care about the players involved on the video and end up following because of that and dont actually care about the guy, but it feeds the ego and makes the cycle go

Legally they can’t. You need specific training to be able to use force against a person, which is expensive so stadiums only pay for about 1 in every 10 staff to have this. So if you don’t have the training you’re only really there to keep an eye out and pass on information to their higher ups

I don't understand how something we've been doing for at least 40 years hasn't reached UEFA yet. I've been this kind of security for years now and we're always in boots. Because of this exact thing.
Exactly. I’m a pitch incursion steward at my local EFL One club, and I won’t let anyone, even other stewards, on the field to help unless they’re wearing boots (unless I’ve been told otherwise by my boss in which case it’s out of my hands)

I'm not going to blame the security guard, but I think that they should at least have turf boots, if they don't just have dedicated "guards that go on the field" with proper boots. It's dangerous and ineffective, especially when you're trying to apprehend someone.

I'd say the major problem is that the security measures aren't proper and those security guards are massively underpaid and undertrained. So UEFA is to blame.
I felt sorry for the security guy when I saw this happen, bet he's feels like shit about it. Slips happen, accidents happen, he's not to blame, was trying to do his job, idiot fan is to blame.
Surely by now though they should have security guards in studs if there is any chance they are going to go on the field
