I replayed DAI for the third time and did pretty much a completionist playthrough of the game earlier this month. It was better than I remembered it. It also made me think that there hasn't been a decent RPG release in terms of storytelling outside of Japan except Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 in the last 10 years since DAI. At least not as great as Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk. Outside of indie games like Disco Elysium of course. The main story, companion interactions and quests (i'm talking quest and interaction not characters, outside of couple of exceptions Origins and DA2 still had better companions imo) were genuinely some of the best Bioware has done. The main quest sections in DAI was genuinely some of the best Bioware has ever done. The sad thing all the good stuff was brought down by some terrible quest design in the open world. That is not to say there weren't bad areas. Exalted Plains, Emerald Graves, Emprise Du Lions and Crestwood were some of the better done zones where the main conflict in those areas actually had some impact in the world and fit the role of the inquisitor. The main negative is the lack of cutscenes which we have been so accustomed to in Bioware games. The lack of cutscenes in dialogue was a major let down. Also the random collectibles that this game had. Why did they think this was a good idea? I also felt that this was the best iteration of Bioware's dialogue wheel. Honestly if not for the open world fluff I think it would have thoroughly deserved the GOTY award that it got. 2014 was an awful year for gaming though. The other game I remember being nominated was Shadow of Mordor. A good game making innovations with the nemesis system, but should be nowhere near GOTY. They really needed to cut down a lot of the fluff, the quests in the Hinterlands and the Hissing Wastes was horrible. 90% of it was a complete waste of time. HInterlands was a pretty looking area but that was about it. All the DLCs were great, though Jaws of Hakkon had some of the open world issues the base game had. It was a bit better but not really that much better. DAI was always a good game, not Bioware's best, not the best DA game but it was always good. It just had to live up to extremely high standards because of DAO and is constantly compared to that. But it was never a bad game. I am personally very critical of DAI but I still liked it. Also as a lore nut and especially going into it hoping for some lore into the Dreadwolf going it it back in the day during launch, this game is great. Lorewise DAI adds a ton to the franchise and probably the most important game.
As someone who has played all three DA games recently, Inquisition has surprisingly not held up as well as I remember it. I much prefer DA Origins and 2
i bought it for 2$, gave it a go.................................. didnt enjoy it at all.... i tryed to, but it just felt................. not great...? the story also was really boring at the start, i tryed to give it a go, but then i felt kind of lost after the begining. and i just moved on to a different game... i should probably give it another go, maybe when im done with other games i enjoy.
Forced myself to play 12 hours until I realised the game was literally bloatware. Whatever decent story people claim Inquisition has, it's buried underneath bloat and boring gameplay.
I genuinely love Inquisition, the companions in particular. And because so much carry over from earlier games through the Keep, it enhances this feeling of this being an interactive experience like very few others.
6:16 -6:20 the Song of Ice and Fire. Dragon Age was originally inspired by those novels and was supposed to be a game about the Wall. So, not their own BG, but their own GoT. I really loved that inspiration. Rendon Howe was the true villain... such a Roose Bolton... Pity Bioware lowered the tone in the Awakening.
I thought about replaying inquisition before veilguard's release but I have a full time job now and it would probably take me a year to finish that game as the completionist that I am (I have a decent amount of free time but the energy isn't always there). Which is why I'm very thankful they ditched the big open world concept for veilguard.
We need a "Remembering Dragon Ball" video such as Dragon Ball Origins, Origins 2, Advanced Adventure, and Revenge of King Piccolo. Those games are so underrated and overshadowed by DBZ.
Man I loved Inquisition, firts DA that I played. Remebers didnt like it at first because I came from dark souls and wanted a similar combat. But after learning how some attacks compliment each other something clicked and rlly love that feeling of a perfect combo. I even got the platinum on ps4. Also wanted to add. The armor desing in this Game 10/10 just look the amount of mods that retro fit the grey warden armors in DAO
I hopped back on this weekend to one of my characters that was still in act 1, a female Qunari Mage (I completed the main game and DLCs with a few characters - including of course my first Inquisitor from 2014 and she'll be my Veilguard imported Inquisitor - A Sera romancing Rogue who disbanded the inquisition and vowed to redeem Solas). Just one short re-visit to Inquisition's world (I'm certainly not finishing this character's story this coming week!) before I'm taken to the story 10 years later. I genuinely love Inquisition (and Origins), and enjoy 2. I have hope for Veilguard, I do suspect it'll be more like 2 for me than the lofty heights of Origins and Inquisition. There's some elements I like returning from 2 too (the purple Hawke dialogue choices, and the friendship/rivalry system!)
I personally really liked Inquisition, I liked that I truly felt like I was in a war and could see the results of my actions throughout. The skills trees were meh but it makes up for it with building your party
Honestly I think expanding the keep choices in Veilguard too far would have been a bad idea because trying to remember my past choices would get annoying. But a few choices like your Origins love interest should have been in the game since one of the choices appears in Veilguard..
Rift mage you can spam power almost unlimited. However, Artificer, Tempest, Templar, and Reaver are also busted as hell in Inquisition. In the middle of nightmare with trials run in the descent dlc as a necromancer. Necromancer is not as shinny as Knight-Enchanter or as flashy as Rift mage but with fire and ice mines, energy barrage, and Walking Bomb masterwork those Walking Bomb denotation chains are glorious. Simulacrum with low health makes a Necromancer with barrier almost unkillable.
Downloaded it today and wasn't really feeling it during the prologue after playing origins and 2 but I will give it a try again. Also i see that Trails from Zero poster in the back. You are cultured.
That's become a trope now; people warning new players to get out of the Hinterlands asap. I guess they have a point. The map is pretty big with a lot to see and do. God help you if you decide to take on the level 14 dragon. I usually take down the rebel mages and templars and go see the horsemaster for my mount, maybe close a couple of rifts for power, *then* get out of there.
I don’t mind the fetch quests really. The game throws so much of the power currency at you that it’s trivial and the total play time of the game can be as long or as short as you want. I’m working on a “worst world state” run where I’m trying to pick all the worst options/avoid helping the world and with only “The Final Piece” and “Doom Upon the World” left, my total play time is only 35 hours
I tried playing DA:I for 3 separate occasions. And, I never could. The story was boring, the combat was janky, the world was boring. People said I had to go past certain part for it to get good, but man it was a chore to play.
I think Origins and 2 would need more than just a rerelease at this point, especially on PC. In particular they both desperately need actual controller support. The PC control scheme for 2 in particular is kind of awful and horribly unwieldy.
But origins plays a lot better with mouse and keyboard than it does with controller. It was clearly designed with that in mind and then tried to make it work for console as well. Id honestly hate to see what a remake of origins would turn into.
There's such a mismatch whenever I see modern games presented on your "retro" channel. 😂 Enjoying the content, though! I loved Inquisition. I still remember falling for Josephine, haha.
I loved the channel and have watched every video you have put out; even the back catalog. So the following critique I give in good faith. I think this channel has lost a little of its original motif. The earlier videos focused on older games that you love, with some sort of personal experience attached to it. Or you diving into older games that you missed out on and giving a shot. As of late, this channel has been more geared toward the lasted releases. The history of newer games, or the previous release of a new installment, movie game etc. I would like to see you go back to the channel’s roots and try some “new” older games or talk about a game from your childhood with new eyes. Still love the channel but I’ve noticed this trend in the last few months. Keep loving games.
I really liked inquisition it’s the first game I 100% and it took forever. The whole series I think has been pretty good overall each one has its own style. I’m hopeful for veilgaurd although it’s hard to get over the art style
I have tried to play this game a handful of times but i just cannot get past how slow it feels and i absolutely despise the combat...it is SO boring...you nailed it with calling it a Single Player MMO. I hate traditional MMO's and it honestly feels like im playing one when I play Inquisition.
Maybe if you tried to do ability combos instead of just holding r2 or r then it wouldn't be boring at all. This game has insane combo potential and no game has such fluid combos and animations. The warrior in origins and inquisition is a correct example. The warrior in origins is the most boring thing iv played
@@johnpantag472 Ability combos is how Inquisition is meant to be played, except Bioware left us to discover this by ourselves. Otherwise, yeah, combat is a chore.
If the gameplay is a struggle i'd suggest trying another combat style (you can do this by controlling a companion instead even). For example, i find 2H insufferable to play but I quite enjoy sword and board feel. It's really drastic difference in feel depending on weapon/class for basically every friend I have that played it.
@@violetbliss4399damn you really don't know how to play if you think 2h is insufferable. Templar 2h is probably the most fun you can have in inquisition
Only Dragon Age 1, Mass Effect 2, or older Bioware games are worth playing. Inquisition is designed like an MMO to waste your time. Tell your friend to play something like Hogwarts Legacy instead.
I thought DAI was the weakest of the DA games at release, and I still fell that way. On the other hand DAV has made DAI look a lot better in comparison. Say what you will about the gameplay or the story, they put a hell of a lot of effort into making as many of our previous choices matter as possible.
I played Origin after two was already out. I enjoyed it. But I wasn't a fan of the dialogue list, I was more a fan of radial dialogue like in Mass Effect. So I was told I'd like 2 more, never played. Still haven't. I ended up playing Inquisition and re fell in love with the series. Still need to play the dlc which I will. But when I get to it, currently playing through the entire franchise to get ready for Veilguard.
Loved Origins back in the day, like the second one quite a bit actually although it was a watered-down version of the original but never got around to playing this back at launch. Decided to also install and play it now before The Veilguard releases and I honestly could not get into it at all. It felt like playing an ancient relic from the past and having just come off The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring, Inquisition was a dull bore. Dropped it a few hours in.
Originally I liked this game but later on I grew to hate it, not just because of the mmo fetch quest of it but also so many bland characters compared to origins. Everything good about this game exist outside of it and even those are not enough (how did leleina and morrigan turned out for exmaple) And as bad as veilgaurd seems I feel I will like it more than inquisition. But none of them will be near enough as good as origins.
I will give the internet credit they were saying single player mmo back at launch but I couldn’t relate ocularums and shards didn’t catch my attention but closing all the rifts seemed like something my inquisitor should care about ppl reference the hinterlands when talking about the games questing issue but the inquisition was just founded I look at the hinterlands quests as the world’s introduction to the inquisition just helping the small folks get them bedding food set up watch towers it gave my herald and the inquisition credibility you can obviously identify the pointless quests that have no more value then simply get me this and you get gold and you can literally just decide your inquisitor doesn’t have time to escort a druffalo I didn’t feel overly forced into a majority of the games filler just felt like even if loot and gear from a lot of these quests rewards were underwhelming they fed and supported my role playing same outlook helped me appreciate the war table and actually read out and think through which advisor to use only way I could understand the frustration is if you were going for the 100% trophy😂
I'm going to put all of my trust in you to give a 100% honest review on Dragon Age The Veilguard before I decided to purchase or not. You seem to know Dragon Age games, and you're not afraid to call out studios like Bethesda, even with your (a little bit worrisome) industry access. I will not trust a single mainstream source on this games review. I don't even know if I can trust SkillUp anymore Just.... please. If the game sucks, just say so. I really don't want to support Bioware anymore. But if some content creators I watch give me an honest review and say it's good, I will give it a chance I just have a feeling this game is going to be peak "modern audience" shit
I got dragon age inquisition very late, in 2019-20 an Xbox one and the disc couldn’t download. Since it was a lot of games from goodwill online I didn’t worry about it. The amount of games I got broke it down to almost 6$ a piece. I’ll have to go back and check it to see if it was ever fixed.
I always liked Inquisition. Even more than Origins. Origins had better story telling, but Inquisition had good story telling, at least, superior game play and decent characters.
I just finished the main quest after 120 hours with 10 years between Playthroughs. I still think the graphics are still good and on series X 60fps. I love the characters/story and ended up romancing Cassandra. Should have skipped all those damn shards!
I played this earlier this year. Lucky people warned me of the Hinterlands so I didn't stay there. Just did a few stuff each time I visit through out the game and it wasn't so bad.
Hinterlands did nothing wrong People got way too focused on clearing 1 spot Instead of just doing what you feel like for those power points That 1 end game sand map Is the worst by far
This is the correct take. I was always so annoyed by people determined to spend all their time in Hinterlands when there's no reason for it and then they'd complain about it

lol, yep. My last 360 game. Those battles and the generally insane load times told me it was time to move on.
me lol
Me. Good memories😊It was one of the first games I got for my PS4 later. Sadly on PS4 FPS is not above 30
We share core memories lmao
I genuinely love Inquisition, the companions in particular. And because so much carry over from earlier games through the Keep, it enhances this feeling of this being an interactive experience like very few others.
i know im late, but the "sprinting" in dai is there. its the mount you get from the horse trainer
Veilguard made Inquisition seem that much better in retrospect. I'd play Inquisition over Veilguard any day.
IN TODAYS VIDEO!! Something about you saying that gets me hyped lol
We need a "Remembering Dragon Ball" video such as Dragon Ball Origins, Origins 2, Advanced Adventure, and Revenge of King Piccolo. Those games are so underrated and overshadowed by DBZ.
DA INQUISITION is one of my favorite games!
You don't have to make me feel this old 😂 by releasing this video reminding me this game is a decade old.
I legit dream of that TMNT arcade machine. Amazing
Definitely. Just finished it again and really enjoyed it. Plenty of good quests and I enjoyed building Skyhold up. I would recommend it.
What a coincidence you made this video, I just started to replay this game again ^.^
Honestly I think expanding the keep choices in Veilguard too far would have been a bad idea because trying to remember my past choices would get annoying. But a few choices like your Origins love interest should have been in the game since one of the choices appears in Veilguard..
Picking Loghain over Alistair as king is crazy
No. Only Origins was good. Still, as bad as Inquisition is it's a masterpiece compared to Dragqueen: Transveil.
I liked every DA game for its own reasons. I’ve played DA:I the most of the 3 because it’s fun to just get lost in for a while.
I spent 100 hours playing it again. Loved it like I did 10 years ago.
It's better than veilguard. Love dai
Downloaded it today and wasn't really feeling it during the prologue after playing origins and 2 but I will give it a try again. Also i see that Trails from Zero poster in the back. You are cultured.
when a bethesda fan tells you the ennemies are too spongy. Your ennemies are too spongy man.
I'm playing Inquisition now for the first time. I'm about 40 hours in and I'm really enjoying it.
Origins, DA2 and Inquisiton are worth it anytime. Especially origins.
I loved this game! I don’t think there’s a bad installment in this series.
Good hype for Veilgaurd for me 😤
That's become a trope now; people warning new players to get out of the Hinterlands asap. I guess they have a point. The map is pretty big with a lot to see and do. God help you if you decide to take on the level 14 dragon. I usually take down the rebel mages and templars and go see the horsemaster for my mount, maybe close a couple of rifts for power, *then* get out of there.
That’s exactly what I do as well. Almost in that order too 🙏🏼
im willing to put money, you guys will do the same thing with veilguard. it’ll be the nee underrated game of the decade
I just came across my PS4 disc version of this, and was really thinking about playing through it again. Definitely going to now
matty i didnt know your other channel was your main one 😭
have been watching stuff on here for a while now
Absolutely loved this game when I played it in 2017
I would say you will have a better time with inquisition, than failguard 🙊
I tried playing DA:I for 3 separate occasions. And, I never could. The story was boring, the combat was janky, the world was boring. People said I had to go past certain part for it to get good, but man it was a chore to play.
Will play this again and avoid the new abominagion at all cost
DAI was my favorite of the three but it’s hard for me to go back to this
I think Origins and 2 would need more than just a rerelease at this point, especially on PC.
@@magusjiro i definitely don't think Origins needs a remake. I just think it and 2 both need qol improvements rather than just a straight rerelease.
This game have an LOTR wibe. And Veilguard just buried series
Yeah, it worth it. I'll replay that any day before I touch Veilguard.
Great game! The online was solid. At least for me. I respect the game.
There's such a mismatch whenever I see modern games presented on your "retro" channel. 😂 Enjoying the content, though! I loved Inquisition. I still remember falling for Josephine, haha.
This was what got me into dragon age
Dragon age Inquisition is like a giant pie. That does not have any filling.... but its still a giant pie so its kind of worth it.
One of the best rpg out there. it will still be worth playing for many many years to come!
Inquisition is my personal fav in the series, and I love origins too. Aside from the hinterlands I found the game great
Played all the DA games and by far in my opinion Inquisition is the best love the open world, expansive lore, and the crafting mechanic.
If they do a remaster for the first three games I’m definitely buying.
Much better than veil
I played on the PC version, with mods to add a sprint button/do the war board quests whenever.
my friend loves inquisition and I've never played a bioware game. I'm really trying to connect with it for him but man I hate playing so far lol
The lack of 4k and 60fps on PS5 hurts me.
One of the main things that always holds me back from fully playing it
I thought DAI was the weakest of the DA games at release, and I still fell that way. On the other hand DAV has made DAI look a lot better in comparison. Say what you will about the gameplay or the story, they put a hell of a lot of effort into making as many of our previous choices matter as possible.
I loved this game. Still do. It's my #3 game of the last 10 years, behind Witcher 3 as #1 and Cyberpunk 2077 as #2.
rare to see a witcher #3 lover loving degaon age inquisition. lovely
@@gamernextdoor23 Inquisition was probably my favorite game until I played Witcher 3 released.
Absolutely just got done replaying it about to start trespassers dlc
Originally I liked this game but later on I grew to hate it, not just because of the mmo fetch quest of it but also so many bland characters compared to origins. Everything good about this game exist outside of it and even those are not enough (how did leleina and morrigan turned out for exmaple)
And as bad as veilgaurd seems I feel I will like it more than inquisition.
I don't even know if I can trust SkillUp anymore
Just.... please. If the game sucks, just say so. I really don't want to support Bioware anymore. But if some content creators I watch give me an honest review and say it's good, I will give it a chance
I just have a feeling this game is going to be peak "modern audience" shit
Best game in the franchise by far
I got dragon age inquisition very late, in 2019-20 an Xbox one and the disc couldn’t download. Since it was a lot of games from goodwill online I didn’t worry about it. The amount of games I got broke it down to almost 6$ a piece. I’ll have to go back and check it to see if it was ever fixed.
Inquisition is my favorite one.
I always liked Inquisition. Even more than Origins. Origins had better story telling, but Inquisition had good story telling, at least, superior game play and decent characters.
Nope. Inquisition is considered to be good because it was made by Bioware. But Inquisition was where Bioware showed they lost the magic.
The best Dragon Age game! Even better than Origins!
I agree.
You have to have hate yourself to believe that.
@@repvoid7680 the issue lies with how corepheus was writtwn, blockbuster entry and a really poor after that.
Dragon Age Inquisition is my favor in the trilogy. The companions are good. I liked the gameplay and progression. Cassandra is the best.
Hinterlands did nothing wrong
People got way too focused on clearing 1 spot Instead of just doing what you feel like for those power points
That 1 end game sand map Is the worst by far
This is the correct take. I was always so annoyed by people determined to spend all their time in Hinterlands when there's no reason for it and then they'd complain about it
If I'd be playing it for the first time again? Yes. Yes I would.
I personally really liked dragon age inquisition, its the game that got me into the series
Absolutely worth it. One of my favorite games.
