As someone who has never played Dragon Age games, inquisition is my first. I thought the main mission was to close the breaches in the open world. Got to level 20 and realized the main Haven mission on the war table 😂
It pains me that my run of this game in Nightmare mode was not only 100% with all DLC's on the most glass cannon build I could as a 2H Reaver warrior, but I have no record of that run because it was on an Origin account I no longer have access to. I have only my word to back my self-inflicted suffering

I put off doing Nightmare until the very last achievement, having played over and over since launch, learning where everything is, doing over a dozen 100% runs, and was super prepared for the worst and... it was actually pretty easy. Cassandra solved everything. She was my rock, she got all the best shit, and never died a single time. The only difference between my usual playthroughs and my nightmare run is I crafted Jar of Bees, Rock Armor, and Antivan Fire, _literally_ the first time I even touched potions outside of health and regen. The hardest thing in the whole run was fighting the timer away from the grand ball during Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. Knowledge really was power all along. (sadly I could not defeat a single dragon outside of the blight dragon)
I have this achievement! The opening mission with the Pride Demon was actually the hardest part, but you can get the Jar of Bees pretty early, so you’re able to cheese the entire game. RIP Corypheus, stung to death by bees.
I really enjoyed your Wolfenstein "Mein Leben" video, so I was stoked to see you release another high-quality longform video. You have a very personable and well-flowing presenting style, and your editing does a lot to provide good pacing. This can be quite difficult, given that achievement-focused videos have to incorporate many hours of gameplay, but you manage to pull it off in a way that feels natural and seamless to the viewer, so kudos to that! My only criticism is your upload schedule (Make more videos please xD). I hope to see more stuff from you in the future!
Thank you for the premium gas! I would love to upload more haha! I recently moved and had to pull some late nights at work, so I was slowed down quite a bit, but I'm currently looking into some help with editing so I can get a video out every 2-3 weeks! Hopefully I can find a few more hours in the day and we can get really crazy!
Cole is catching strays 😂 I completely get that feeling for the inquisitor achievement. I waited 9 years to play the game again because I didn't want to run through the Hinterlands again 😂
Closed out this achievement (and all the trial achievements) a few weeks ago. My nightmare run took 185 hours. i also went Rogue archer. I like to give Blackwall Kitty's Collar with the first health on hit item i could craft from the fade-touched material locked in Redcliffe Village. And I used the Golden Nug because that's what it's there for.
I haven't played the game since Trespasser came out, so I didn't even know what the nug was until I was editing this video. I used it during this run without knowing, and now that I'm aware of it, I would do it again 😂
I played 2 handed reaver on nightmare it was extremely hard until you unlock your sub class I remember. The mission where they raid castle took me forever to beat. I remember having to put the game down and come back month later. From what I remember after this mission you get to unlock you new subclass. I respect into reaver and it wasn’t to bad after that. Nightmare combat was totally different than normal you actually have to use your companion and choose who to bring with you wisely. Sad that they change the combat in the new one but if I ever get a day off work I’ll check it out for my self
I did it. But not only in Inquisition, but in every other DA and ME game as well. The hardest one was the DLC for DA: Origins where you need to kill the Harvester, it was a literal hell
Dude I remember playing a rogue and running around in circles shooting some arrows, and then going invisible so I could reposition. It was so cheese, but at the time I didn't know how else to do it lmao
I remember thinking I’d never platinum that game because squad commands were so dumbed down. Then I saw a video made by this dude that did DAI build vids and he explained how you basically had to set squad reverse of what seemed right. I don’t remember it exactly, but holy shit! That run was soooooo fucking easy.
I didn't do trials at the same time, but I've just finished my nightmare run as well. I went with mage, and once i got my Knight Enchanter specialization, the rest of the game was honestly a joke. Didn't even get close to getting killed, i even solo'd a dragon.
Soloing a dragon is actually nuts lol. I think I only fully died twice in the game, and one of those times was when I was alone under Haven LOL. All Nightmare mode did was make it so I do things in a different order. The tactical element was fun! Overall not as big of a challenge as I expected though
My only complaints with DA:I at release was that the ending wasn't super satisfying (fixed with DLC IMO), and because I like to do everything in the game I got a bit burnt out with some of the larger areas. But I really did enjoy it!
I'll be honest with you, there are parts of this game that are DEFINITELY a slog. I'm a huge DA fan, and I can concede that everyday of the week. The final DLC is a massive payoff IMO, and if you plan on playing the next game, I would highly recommend it (or at least watch it on youtube)
I was so scared to play on Nightmare that when I did I played as a warrior, put armor gain on hit on all crafted armor for all party members and ended up being the easiest playthrough because we were invincible xDD
T couldn't find the mods for guard on hit, but I remember using it during my normal playthroughs. That is 100% a good strat. I just don't like the warrior gameplay in DA:I haha
This sated me from wanting to play BG3, since i got very sickly that i was dizzy and sick to my stomach that I couldn't play, after 2 hospital trips and 3 weeks of suffering later i feel entirely better that i can finally play! ❤ This video helped me a lot along with the bioshock video. :) although BG3 is a fairly big game perhaps you could give it a shot since it has a honor mode, after veil guard of course, it is similar to origins in gameplay and tactics but it's turn based. (i say that now so you know, for most that's a deal breaker.) It's a game I can't stop playing and I'm near the ending half once again, i would play da:i again but gods... I can't stomach the hinterlands all over lmao. ❤😂😅
I hope you're back to 100% soon, and I'm glad I was able to help you out ❤ and you should definitely stay away from the hinterlands if you're already sick 😂 I will be playing BG3! I picked it up at launch and I just didn't have time to do a 150 hour playthrough before starting Honor mode, but I'm going to do something a bit creative and try to make that first playthrough into something special, then I'll swing back for the hardest difficulty and turn that into it's own thing!
I have this trophy on PSN and let me tell you, I ended up beating a giant because something bugged and it got shot up into the air then took fall damage. I love this game.
Nightmare + Trials has been a ride. I did the Nightmare mode already as a Reaver which was... something alright lol. Got to Haven at Level 5 after doing Hushed Whispers and Blackwall freaking HATES me right now. Leliana too. Did it feel shitty to imprison the mages to keep Viv/Sera due to Fair Weather Friends? Yeah. And yet at the same time it makes way more sense to punish them than it does the Templars that I generally go to save since what's left of the Order are like beginner level recruits and a handful of senior Knights. That and the sweet, sweet stat boosts. Doing Emrpise du Lion soon and I'm not excited for it lol
In Veilguard they are just SO tankie and if you fall you don't get to play as other party members, which there are only two of, you just have to reset. Lucky there are a lot of save points, which is nice.
This is the first (and probably last) game i ever played on nightmare and oh my was it something o.o for context: i always play on the easiest Mode, available because i just want to enjoy the story. It took me 2 weeks of nonstop grinding and I almost lost it, even as a qunari who gets 10%damage resis... I have so much respect for you to play this as an elf AND with trials😭🌟
I finished DAI on nightmare and all DLC except Tresspaser. Does that count? xD Tresspasser was imposible for me on Nightmare, I would have to grind so much more to even have a chance. I finised it on hard xD.
Honestly, I didn't find Nightmare all that bad when I did it. I did that difficulty with all the trials, and the only point I ever got stuck for a bit was in the bloody Fade with the fight with the Nightmare. I just reloaded an earlier save and went through the fade again with some better management and had no problem. Inquisition is the first game I purposefully went out of my way to platinum trophy (fuck some of the tedious trophies, honestly) but this game always has a special place in my heart.
Nightmare just makes the enemies really tanky, so your point about managing the fights is definitely the key haha. I'm glad this was your first platinum! It's a great one to have, especially if you had a soft spot for the game
I remember 100% DAI. I played rogue on my nightmare mode. PC too. It was such a grand time. What made it better? I didn't play the game in 4 years before that and I did all the dlcs and side content with it too. With all the trials unlocked and nightmare. So anyways. 300 deaths later and i want to just destroy everything. I was happy
@@morgansbasement It’s a great game though! I haven’t found a lot of people praising it online so I was really glad to come across your video. It was a great trip down memory lane.
I'm sure there are alot of reasons, but I avoided nightmare on my first go around because I didn't want to get stopped from exploring high level sections 😂. I want the first run to be focused on story and exploration, and higher difficulties stop me from wandering into high level zones lmao. You're a champ for doing it on that difficulty for your first playthrough
@@morgansbasement I did it on archer rogue and necromancer so its quite doable. Sure, you have to be very crafty about it, especially as rogue where you have to play off your invisibility a ton but in the end it is possible, even though the last boss of the trespasser DLC took me a good 6 hours.
Trial of the Tower is possible on Nightmare! I can’t find the guide I based her on, but I managed it with my Dwarf Champion Inquisitor. It was grindy as hell and the rest of my party died, but at this point I’m used to them getting ripped apart and soloing dragons lol.
That's actually pretty cool! I was a few levels under the dragon so I probably would have had to level up a few times and then change my gear around of I wanted to get it done. tbh I was ready to add the completion to my account and move on haha
@@morgansbasementoh, for sure. It was really interesting to see the different places where our builds struggled in the game. I had an audible reaction when you mentioned starting “In Your Heart Shall Burn” at level 8, because I did the same thing and nearly locked myself out of completing the game that way, it was such a struggle. What took me a week to beat you skated through! Anyways, excited to see your thoughts on Veilguard. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've only done 1 full playthrough before this, but because I did so much that it unlocked a bunch of schematics through the golden nug in Haven. I didn't look up the specifics, but I'll use them if the game wants to give them 😂
"The Correct Choice is the Mages" Counterpoint: Champions of the Just offers Stat Boosts! FR though, I made two World States depending on how I wanted to interact with Solas in Dreadwolf: A Pro-Mage save (Including Female Lavellan) and an Anti-Mage Save (Featuring a Dwarven Champion) I'm very disappointed I won't be able to enjoy them both.
That's a pretty good practical reason to pick the templars haha, but if you pick the mages you don't have to think about practicalities 👁️👁️. I'm currently 3 knuckles deep in Veilguard, and I wish we could've brought everything forward too
Its been a while since I played Inquisition for its plat. All I remember of my nightmare run was abusing the golden nug to get a silly weapon as I Reaver'ed all over the game. I wouldn't call it fun but saying it waa effective would be an understatement.
TBH Dragon Age Inquisition is too long of a game to want to raw dog nightmare IMO. If the game was more streamlined then a barebones challenge might be pretty fun, but since nightmare just increases enemy health, it would feel like such a slog to do a 60-80 hour playthrough (unless it was your first run and everything was new to you)
got this one. It was a lot of fun to be challenged. Though i definitely didnt beat the finale to jaws of hakkon with nightmare. Had to backtrack and just finish the game
I didn't play through the DLC's since it wasn't required for the cheevo, but based on what I remember of them it seems like they would have been way harder than the base game

"I'm gonna show her why dagger rogue is the best!"
Given what we just witnessed, I think she knows.
Surprised this has so few views. I don't know anything about editing and what goes into making a video like this but I can tell a lot of love and work went into it. Great job man, I'll keep an eye on your channel for when veilguard drops!
I'm fairly small on UA-cam so the number of views has actually exceeded my hopes so far! But this video did take a few weeks to make, so I'm glad the effort is acknowledged!
I will definitely be doing something like this for Veilguard. It's gunna be sick!
@@morgansbasementbro how are you a small time UA-camr? This is grade a content and as a tiny almost really small channel I hope to get to this point. Your gonna blow up on UA-cam
15:12 lmao I laughed hard at this one 😂
Also didn't realize before but The Witcher and Mass Effect ost suits this game so well, such a bangers. Great vid!
The roaming ass is rarely seen, so it was a sight for sure 😂
The Witcher/ME OST's were so good that I used them for like 90% of the video haha. I didn't realize how well they would match either
I only came for the millions of lumens of mood lighting haha
We all need that illuminating mood every once in a while 😂
I put off doing Nightmare until the very last achievement, having played over and over since launch, learning where everything is, doing over a dozen 100% runs, and was super prepared for the worst and... it was actually pretty easy.
Fighting the timer during the Grand Ball is so accurate LOL. I think I had gotten down to like 5ish approval before I finally went back
I have this achievement! The opening mission with the Pride Demon was actually the hardest part, but you can get the Jar of Bees pretty early, so you’re able to cheese the entire game. RIP Corypheus, stung to death by bees.
@@Timewyrm1989 Spent all that time plotting against the world and he ended up dying to anaphylactic shock RIP
I wish I could afford to buy this on Steam. Used to have it on PS4, but no longer have that console. Loved this game
My day is simple. I see MB uploads, I watch immediately. Another banger bub!
Love that from you, Dj! I hope you enjoyed it!
And this is why I can’t wait in veilguard where I don’t have to worry about companions going down
Solas at home
Before I clicked this I thought the “nightmare” achievement would be collecting all the shards lol
Collecting the shards is indeed a nightmare haha
great video brotha! well worth the wait
Let's go, Jeremy! I'm glad you liked it!
Great video, glad they recommended to me. If you haven’t played the other games in the series, you definitely should, whether or not you do a video
I actually have 100% in the whole series! Now it's just a waiting game for the 31st haha
It's a good day we got an upload
It happens once every 2 months it seems LOL, so it better be a good day
Let's go! It's a good day when Morgan uploads
It's been a bit but I'm back baby!
Animated Morgan is better at explaining things than any teacher ! (He also needs a cool nickname 😎)
LOL word on the street is that he wanted to be a teacher at some point, but who am I to say 👀
"I love Dragon Age". Me too, just not to be confused with loving Vanguard rofl
+1
This brings back so many memories of me dumping countless hours into this game
You calling Cole a demon catfish broke my heart a bit 😭 thats my son
Cole is catching strays 😂
I completely get that feeling for the inquisitor achievement. I waited 9 years to play the game again because I didn't want to run through the Hinterlands again 😂
The music over In your heart shall burn 💀
I was waiting for a new video. Ever since I watched all your video in one night I've been waiting. Thank you for the dopamine boost
LOVE that Buggesterr! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
My fiance beat the game so often (50+ times) that she couldn't play it on any other difficulty than nightmare or she would get bored
How do you not have AT LEAST 100k subs damn good video
Love to hear it, Max!
I got this trophy a couple years ago. Haven’t done the trials, but I’ve been meaning to go back to Inquisiton once I finish Veilguard.
Immedately locking in Cassandra as the Love Intrest: yep, set up for success.
It's something about the way she walks, but I can't quite put my finger on it haha
That Assasins Creed Tavern Brawl music activated long lost neurons in my brain
The fact that you recognize it tells me you either have PTSD from AC3, or you loved AC3 😂
@@morgansbasement Both😂
Serendipity is evidence of the divine
Still my fav video of all time. I hope you play veilguard at some point. I'd love to see what you think of it!
Great Video Morgs loved all the explanations help me better understand what was going on :)
love that Meows, I'm glad you liked it!
Graduations my friend I hope you have a good day. If you need any help just ask.
Sounds good, Anna! Thanks!
You can finish this game without companions on nightmare. The Golden Nug is a good bonus as wel.
Overall not as big of a challenge as I expected though
i did this in 2020 during the pandemic it was iconic asf i loved this game i think it was a 400 hour playthrough or something lmaoo
400 hrs is nuts! That's probably my total playtime in DA:O and DA:2 combined, I would have gone insane haha
People like to shit on this game and its story, but i love it
My only complaints with DA:I at release was that the ending wasn't super satisfying (fixed with DLC IMO), and because I like to do everything in the game I got a bit burnt out with some of the larger areas. But I really did enjoy it!
Blessed Monday, a new Morgan upload ❤
Niiice, another banger Morgan, I love inquisition.
I've yet to finish inquisition simply because it's a slog, but this has given me the motivation to finish it, and the dlc's.
Great video Morgan, finally got a chance to see this
Thanks, Rob! I'm glad it landed on your desk!
the books really help fill holes. all of them were great.
(i say that now so you know, for most that's a deal breaker.)
It's a game I can't stop playing and I'm near the ending half once again, i would play da:i again but gods... I can't stomach the hinterlands all over lmao. ❤😂😅
I hope you're back to 100% soon, and I'm glad I was able to help you out ❤ and you should definitely stay away from the hinterlands if you're already sick 😂
I will be playing BG3!
There's so much to love in this game
If you were doing all the trials at once, the level 5 one would have been such a bitch haha. Good luck on taking the keep!
Congrats on getting it done! I normally do my first playthrough on easy mode as well, so you're not alone!
I finished DAI on nightmare and all DLC except Tresspaser. Does that count? xD Tresspasser was imposible for me on Nightmare, I would have to grind so much more to even have a chance. I finised it on hard xD.
I didn't need to do trespasser for an achievement, so I wouldn't want to grind levels for it either lool. Totally understandable IMO
Big W btw, I remember hating this game when I was young due to Nightmare mode.
Thanks, Yami!
There's no "i" in team, but you can get a "me"
I remember 100% DAI. I was happy
Love to hear that!
I got 100% achievements but was so pissed when they added the trials. Completely killed my achievement percentage
That's the problem with DLC achievements haha. If you aren't into that type of stuff, it only ever slaughters your %
@@morgansbasement It’s a great game though! I haven’t found a lot of people praising it online so I was really glad to come across your video. It was a great trip down memory lane.
@@morgansbasement What was the hardest fight for you?
After everything in trespasser and the veilguard I just can't experience this normally with my knowledge, who solas actually is.
Wait, what? The complete percentage for nightmare is that low? My original run was on Nightmare. Figured the completion rate would be higher.
I've never seen this game before and after watching this video it makes me wanna play it. Great story telling, really enjoyed this one! Worgan.
HIGHLY recommend you give the series a try!
Try doing Nightmare Solo, its a lot of fun and you don't have to micromanage your companions.
That literally sounds impossible unless you play a guard on it tank haha. I might have to pass on that one
@@morgansbasement I did it on archer rogue and necromancer so its quite doable.
Sure, you have to be very crafty about it, especially as rogue where you have to play off your invisibility a ton but in the end it is possible, even though the last boss of the trespasser DLC took me a good 6 hours.
@@Desmont123 The Warhammer (Inquisition flag?) pfp definite matches your determination
First off great video loved it
Second probably a dumb question but how did you get the descent schematics so early on? Especially on nightmare lol
If the game was more streamlined then a barebones challenge might be pretty fun, but since nightmare just increases enemy health, it would feel like such a slog to do a 60-80 hour playthrough (unless it was your first run and everything was new to you)
Absolutely mental
Honestly nightmare in this game was amazing. Decent balance between everything
Veilguard is a kids game,
I play nightmare as if it was medium
got this one.
