That is just okay. Just not amazing when the battery life can have 2 hours sacrificed for an extra 200 nits of brightness. 13 hours of battery life with 500 nits is possible with this CPU.
Hey, can you please clarify if 45% NTSC IPS panels @ 300 nits are bad in general, regardless of the use case? Looking at midrangers but most sport that display unfortunately
@pasunurusaivineeth3739 Same with most business laptops. Most employers would rather squeeze more battery out of Intel CPU laptops and want their employees to focus on work than Netflix. Thus, FHD+ display resolution, 60 FPS, and 300 nits britness has become the norm for business laptops. HP EliteBooks finally got off of 250 nits with their 840 G10 models.
I'll assume you haven't even tried the laptop. Well, I have and the screen's is very bright. Not problems using it in my well -lite home office. Reflectivity is a bigger issue than brightness...
I can't believe HP actually released this model. That screen is so bad and crazy wobbly, never seen something that bad on a laptop before, couldn't believe it when I was checking it out in BB.
The laptop is not bad but it is not good either. They can improve this next time around no doubt in my mind, but they should have put a brighter display with a higher refresh rate and give an OLED option. Better hinges and more balanced weight would also serve to improve this device.
They killed the Spectre line for this 300 nit 60fps wobbly screen mess. None of these camera effects really need an npu. It’s not ai, it’s Microsoft branding. Thanks for taking a look.

I liked the second setting on the camera, where your contours became warmer. Awesome microphone, but what a misser with the nits..... Too bad. I just want to thank you so much for your reviews, I am in Canada and picked up my Surface Laptop 7 today. So far all good, your reviews have helped me pick out the new toy.
I do not know why HP screwed up. I have the legendary HP Envy 16 with i7 13700H and 16 gb RAM with 1TB SSD and Intel Arc A370M and it is wonderful except the battery life. Their Spectre 14 was SUPERB AS WELL BEING THE NUMBER 1 RECOMMENDATION EVEN AGAINST YOGA 9i. HP went the wrong way now, very disappointed. I won’t buy HP again, Microsoft Surface and Lenovo are the way to go in 5 years time.
IPS display that only gets as bright as 300 nits and Wifi 6E in 2024 when you can do better with HP's competitors is extremely disappointing and a no buy for me in 2024! I don't know what HP was thinking with the HP OmniBook X with Snapdragon X Elite but this one is definitely not a winner in my book and even at the price of $1200. I did like the webcam quality as well as the internal mics, however as well as the excellent battery life. The sound quality out of the internal speakers is okay, but not stellar. Thank you Andrew for your very comprehensive review as always my friend! 👍😁
Okay pc. Camera and mics are okay. In looking at your view of the internals it appears that the wifi card is slotted in. Is the view of the internals inaccurate or is the wifi card slotted in and not soldered in? Display could be better. Great initial review.
Hey Andrew, I noticed your Cinebench multi-core score for Surface 7 showing 680 but I'm getting 942 on mine (15"). I wonder why our results are so different.
I need a new laptop and I want to get one part of this co pilot range from any brand... please recommend the best one. I'm currently thinking the Lenovo yoga slim 7x 32gb ram/1tb.
If I bought a laptop where 10% of software or accessories doesn't work. I would consider that a failure. That will certainly improve with updates but will they come in less than a month or take longer? $1150-1200 is too much for a laptop with average specs that does only basic tasks well.
@@cynicist8114 Suppose an Intel/AMD laptop has 10 hours of battery life and a Qualcomm laptop has 20. That is huge and unlikely, but even if that is true, I would not take that and have to deal with an external monitor or keyboard or speakers that won't work with the laptop because the driver has not been updated. Power efficiency of the Snapdragon is impressive, but charging is still needed, just less often.
I think HP was going for maximum battery life and so they limited the screen brightness and also strived to keep it as cool and quiet as possible. I would have liked to have seen a higher refresh rate, brighter display and OLED option.
Hi, could you please tell me which one of Snapdragon X laptops has the best speakers + oled screen? Probably Surface Pro 11, but it's not a laptop and Surface Laptop 7 doesn't have oled... ;\
Lenovo Slim 7x. I have it, and it's awesome. The OLED screen is the best I've seen on a laptop, and the speaker quality is crazy. The absolute max volume could be higher, but it's great for a 14.5" machine. It's basically the perfect size and weight for portability.
@@andrewmarcdavid alright. I got my copy for ~1069EUR, undercutting most other snapdragon elite laptops. Samsung does some crazy pre-order deals, making the list price rather misleading. Not a lot of reviewers take that into account. I wouldn’t recommend the edge at MSRP.
Would not touch HP laptops or any other product they handle. Bad warranty backup. Hopeless to deal with. Save your money and go with a company that can offer warranty and service.
Hp was best alternative to mac with spectre & dragonfly lineups...with all the snapdragon hype and aggressive marketing from hp (ferrari & real madrid) expectation were high...& they failed epically...from first row to the last place on the grid.
***CORRECTION*** The WiFi card is slotted in not soldered as I incorrectly mentioned. Sorry for the confusion it may have caused.

Huh? The 2024 Intel Ultra HP Spectre x360 14 have 500 nits of britness and 120hz variable refresh rate. Maybe you meant the 2023 version.
The Surface Pro 7 15-inch and Lenovo Yoga 7x seem to be the best of the Snapdragon X Elite laptops.
I have the Lenovo, and it's incredible. Nearly perfect.
@@cynicist8114 What is it missing to call it perfect?

No wonder the battery life is great when it sports a max 300 nits display that chugs along at 60 Hz. My, what a let-down. 🙈

Bought an omnibook not that long ago. Most things you will want to do will work on this laptop. The specs are way above average.
Sell for $700 with the target audience of it being used as a mostly single cable mode desktop display docked no fan noise device.
