Let's go, getting home from work to another great video! I think my decision to go with the Surface Laptop, from both your reviews, and those of others like Alex Ziskind, seems to have been the best decision all round from what I have seen. Thanks again for the content. Much appreciated.
I had the Lenovo long enough to do a first impressions video and then went and picked up the Surface Laptop. The better processor really makes a difference. And the finish on the Lenovo is awful. Fingerprint and smudge magnet
The non haptic touchpad and the vents on the bottom are a deal breaker for many. Not being able to comfortably use it while on bed or couch for fear of blocking vents is annoying. Anyone who uses a macbook air and relies on touchpad all day knows how important the haptic touchpad really is. For regular desk users this is a very good laptop, but I never understood why not just buy a regular pc if at a desk all day as you get so much power for the $$$ spent compared to this.

@@KevinReyes-hr1wk You're waiting for an Intel chip lol. You're going to wait for a desktop laptop because Intel laptops means you'll always be plugged in.
Almost all the snapdragon x laptops that launched are such failures, they sacrifice way too much just for the sake of wanting to call the laptop an "AI Laptop" that's slim and has great battery. They seem to have forgotten all other things needed to actually enjoy a laptop
Thank you for the review this one's definitely the most interesting one to me. It feels so squarely aimed at the MacBook Air but ups the standard hardware.
Apple did the most amazing thing in 2020 when they released M1. I can’t wait for Windows to pick up on ARM chips, they are crazy good for battery, thermals and some power for moderate tasks
Hi thank you for a great review.. How would this laptop hold up in sunny outdoors situation? My current Lenovo has matte screen which I bought specifically for working outside.. Will the high nits rate cover for the glossy screen when working outside?
This is for sure my favourite snapdragon laptop! I love the Design on the new Yogas. Unfortunately as I’ll be video editing a lot which the new chips may not be capable of too well.. also, no headphone jack is a deal-breaker for me lol. I’ll probably go for the Thinkbook 13x :) Also, it’s very weird how the 2024 Slim 7 models are worse in a few ways compared to the 2023 one.. the 2023 had 6 speakers. New Slim 7i has a low res screen with only 60hz, otherwise I’d go for that
The port selection on this laptop is just bad. Bad choice of Lenovo to not put in an HDMI port and at least one USB-A port. Otherwise it would be my ideal laptop, but I just don't want to walk around with dongles all the time.
One of the issue is that, in 2024, TV manufacturers still don’t yet integrate multtiple USB-C ports (USB4 or Thunderbolt 4) on their TVs by default. There should at least always be one on each side, at the bottom : easily accessible to plug a computer with a USB-C cable…
Hello, yoga Slim 7X X Elite 32GB vs M2 Pro 16GB Iam currently deciding which machine to get but aim kinda unsure. Iam a cs student and software developer and the machine should def be powerful enough for my workload. Ty
Please elaborate on the Sound test. How does it compare to its peers or to a Macbook Pro 14" (which has a very good speaker system)? Is the Lenovo enough to enjoy a movie in the hotel room without any external speakers connected?? Is the base sufficient?
Looks-wise I think this one is a close second to the Surface Laptop 7. IDK why they're making these displays touchscreens though; feels kinda pointless without pen support.
OLED for the win and just $69 more for 32gb ram. Touch comes in very handy even without pen support. In video editing photos editing ai drawing and audio work with mixers drum machines instruments and plugin. And you can use generic pens as well for signing PDFs drawing etc. It gives your wrist a rest.
iPhone is touch screen not pen capable but Galaxy is and that open up more precise touch drawing etc. But the iPhone can still benefit from generic pens for more accuracy drawing and lack of fingerprints.
Not having the layer required for pen means this one won't have the graininess people are complaining about with the Surface OLED model (have seen quite a few people exchange the OLED Surface for the non-OLED).
How is it folded into tablet mode? Did I miss that in your video? This is the yoga line which is meaning they fold into tablet mode, otherwise it would not be cool yoga
@@andrewmarcdavid thanks for the reply mate - erm that is idiotic. the whole point of the yoga name was it meant it folds backwards... lenovo even created that whole brand and name. they cant then suddenly call a normal laptop a yoga, it is complete nonsense. what idiot in charge of their product range.... crazy
Great review. To be honest, I feel like the lack of a headphone jack is inexcusable. There is absolutely no reason why there can’t be one on pretty much any modern device and that includes smartphones. Even the thinnest iPhone, the iPhone 6, had one. That makes it all the weirder that some laptops lack one.
If I were to get the the next yoga with the Snapdragon chipset it would be my third yoga. But one thing I'm going to need in the next model is excellent performance running software development tools like IntelliJ or Microsoft visual studio, docker, node, kubernetes, a database & a multi repo project. If surely get the 32gig ram upgrade & a 1 TB drive. Would have been nice if the GPU was a bit more powerful... Hopefully Snapdragon has plans upgrade the GPU in a later version of this. Chipset
I'll wait for Intel Lunarlake and AMD Strix point before deciding to pick up which one. It's a ok start for Qualcomm. I prefer they wait until the drivers and Prism are ready before the chip is launched. Now it's a bit meh....😅
hello can you please make a comparison video vs lenovo and asus? they have the same SKU and battery life so the should be in the same ballpark. I'm more interested in the speaker quality / webcam etc. The ports availability is self-explanatory. If you already know who has the better speaker or already have a formed opinion regarding that, please share it.
The Lenovo is a nice package! I do not understand the 3,5 decision and I miss performance in Resolve, which is key for me. So it must wait and see what Luna lake has to offer. But as it is Lenovo: Often times they use the same chassis ...
amm. ........ Wake me up when they will beat macbook pro max m3 or m4 .... AAAAND can play and run any app and game with same battery life.... GOOD Night.
Such a shame that for such a sexy-looking laptop, the GPU is relatively lackluster and the software compatibility continues to be an Achilles' heel." By the way, have you reached out to the colorimeter manufacturers to see if they will release an ARM version of their drivers? That's something that you cannot really work around with Prism emulation-you need the ARM driver.
I don't like the name across the back at all. They should move it back to the edge or get a decent logo if they want to plaster it in the centre like that. Better yet, don't put anything on the back. Discreet or non-existent is always better when it comes to branding.

@@grgagabric4369 I thought we wanted a new CPU from an efficiency standpoint and not just raw power
i was in the middle between mac air m3 or this one but now i know the answer after looking at the screen. thanks for a great review!
Almost all the snapdragon x laptops that launched are such failures, they sacrifice way too much just for the sake of wanting to call the laptop an "AI Laptop" that's slim and has great battery. They seem to have forgotten all other things needed to actually enjoy a laptop
what even copilot laptop means
Thank you for the review this one's definitely the most interesting one to me. It feels so squarely aimed at the MacBook Air but ups the standard hardware.
Saw one in person, I have to admit I really love the soft touch plastic they used on the keycaps
32GB upgrade for 69$ is crazy!!! Lenovo nailed it. compare to Apple, Microsoft, Dell overcharge upgrade price
For apple is 200 dollars to upgrade from 8 to 16gb and another 200 dollars to 32gb ☠️
CANT WAIT 4 LINUX
Same!
Very, very slick! Thanks Andrew, great content as always!!
Glad you liked it!
This is for sure my favourite snapdragon laptop! I love the Design on the new Yogas. Unfortunately as I’ll be video editing a lot which the new chips may not be capable of too well.. also, no headphone jack is a deal-breaker for me lol. I’ll probably go for the Thinkbook 13x :)
Also, it’s very weird how the 2024 Slim 7 models are worse in a few ways compared to the 2023 one.. the 2023 had 6 speakers. New Slim 7i has a low res screen with only 60hz, otherwise I’d go for that
I would hold off for video editing for now. They need to fix some things.
@@andrewmarcdavid Are you referring to the ThinkBook or laptops in general?
Can we upgrade it's memory and storage?
Better than the famous xps?
The port selection on this laptop is just bad. Bad choice of Lenovo to not put in an HDMI port and at least one USB-A port. Otherwise it would be my ideal laptop, but I just don't want to walk around with dongles all the time.
One of the issue is that, in 2024, TV manufacturers still don’t yet integrate multtiple USB-C ports (USB4 or Thunderbolt 4) on their TVs by default.
There should at least always be one on each side, at the bottom : easily accessible to plug a computer with a USB-C cable…
Andrew how do you feel about the speakers on here compared to the x360 14 from this year ?
Hello,
yoga Slim 7X X Elite 32GB vs M2 Pro 16GB
Iam currently deciding which machine to get but aim kinda unsure. Iam a cs student and software developer and the machine should def be powerful enough for my workload.
Ty
anyone can help?
They you end up deciding
Please elaborate on the Sound test.
How does it compare to its peers or to a Macbook Pro 14" (which has a very good speaker system)?
Is the Lenovo enough to enjoy a movie in the hotel room without any external speakers connected?? Is the base sufficient?
No one cares about laptops that don't have touch screens or other basic 21s century features...
@@RK-um9tu No one? Then show me data that indicates not a single non-touchscreen device is getting sold.
Because glossy glass touch is way better than matte. Pen is useless for most purple. Touch is very very helpful. Matte is awful
iPhone is touch screen not pen capable but Galaxy is and that open up more precise touch drawing etc.
Despite the Yoga name this is not a convertible. It is a clam shell design.
Chipset
Best pc reviewer by far!
I'll wait for Intel Lunarlake and AMD Strix point before deciding to pick up which one. It's a ok start for Qualcomm. I prefer they wait until the drivers and Prism are ready before the chip is launched. Now it's a bit meh....😅
I'm not sold on getting a Snapdragon as my new laptop yet owing to compatibility issues.
hello can you please make a comparison video vs lenovo and asus? they have the same SKU and battery life so the should be in the same ballpark.
GOOD Night.
Such a shame that for such a sexy-looking laptop, the GPU is relatively lackluster and the software compatibility continues to be an Achilles' heel."
By the way, have you reached out to the colorimeter manufacturers to see if they will release an ARM version of their drivers? That's something that you cannot really work around with Prism emulation-you need the ARM driver.
I don't like the name across the back at all. They should move it back to the edge or get a decent logo if they want to plaster it in the centre like that. Better yet, don't put anything on the back. Discreet or non-existent is always better when it comes to branding.
