    Can't believe it's been 2 years already. If I were buying a new PJ, it would still be an Epson EB-PU 1006. I have owned JVC and Sony in the past.

    Thanks for the video, I'm shopping for a good conference room projector that can be somewhat bright and reproduce colors well,. Seems like this will do.

    Christie has lots of projectors that have higher than 2,000:1 contrast. Use their high constrast lens and there's literally dozens that can beat that spec.

    Is necessary to buy lenses for this model (EB-PU1006W?) is this model, suport dolby vision?

    • @andrewtran1596
      @andrewtran1596  4 місяці тому

      Yes. You have to buy one of the lenses. I got the V12H004M08 (PLPLM08) Lens which retailed $370 when I bought it.
      It doesn't decode DV, only HDR. So you would need to have the Processor/AVR or UHD-4K Player decode the DV first and then output to the Epson.

    Do you know what is the color gamut of this projector? Will this projector accept HDR signal? Epson publications mentioned Rec 709, and nothing else. Do you use MadVR, or similar, to convert HDR video?

    • @andrewtran1596
      @andrewtran1596  Рік тому

      It does accept HDR. I think I updated a HDR video somewhere. But yes. It does accept (pass-thru) HDR video from both BluRay and Kodi.

    Hi there thanks for your review.i was wondering how does this Epson projector weigh up against the Sony vpl760es wich has 2000 lumens?
    Will this Epson projector work on acoustic transparent screen 3m away.
    Thanks

      In terms of brightness/lumens, there is absolutely no comparison between 6,000 Lumens to 2,000 Lumens.
      First, when you calibrated video settings like Cinema Mode, the Lumens will drop. So when they say “2000 Lumens”, it won’t be anywhere near 2000 lumens in Cinema mode.
      Second, there is just a astronomical difference between 6,000 lumens vs 2,000 lumens, especially when your screen is above 120”. After you have seen the Epson’s 6,000 lumens, you will NEVER want to go back to all these LOW-LUMEN projectors. Never. It’s like wearing dark sunglasses inside your house and then taking your dark sunglasses off.
      Yes, the Epson will work on all types of screens, including acoustically transparent screens.

    what settings you use for your 1006w for 4k enhance playback. just got 1007b and the lens, looking to test the projector. any good tool to check for any pizel issues

      I use Cinema mode. Increased Color Saturation to 70. I use the medium power mode. If I had the 1007, I would probably use the LOW/QUIET power mode since 7000 Lumens would probably be too bright.

    for my home theater, I havea 150" screen currently running optoma p2, it's not sharp as you know why. I am able to get a epson eb-pu1007B with lens for $3.2k, would you consider still to get this epson or something else for $4k or less? I have the optoma uhz50 and it's better than p2, but only slightly that also want to get rid of. Was thinking of another short throw like Ultimea Thor T60. What do you think I should get right now.

      I would get the EB-PU1007B, which was my original plan to get. But at the time, the 1007 wasn’t available, so I got the 1006 instead. After watching for over a year and knowing I used to own the JVC NX7, I would take the 1007 for sure.

      @@andrewtran1596 even with being 4k enhance and only having 4million pixel, is it worth it where most dlp and new projects or 4k uhd with 8 mega pixel for more sharper details

    It has been difficult to find information on this projector, does it have the same feature and operation as the ls12000, without the linens of course. I am only projecting about 15 ft back…could go 16 ft.

    • @andrewtran1596
      @andrewtran1596  Рік тому

      The LS12000 is newer, so it will have more features. LS12000 has 8.3 million pixels, EB-PU has 4.6 million pixels. LS12000 can do 4K/120Hz, EB-PU can do 4K/60 Hz.
      Now the next generation EB-PQ projectors (8.3 million pixels) will be more like the LS12000 but with lumens like the EB-PU.

    Not the Christie eclipse! It's native contrast is 20,000,000:1
    Unbeatable, literally, not even oled can compare to it

    When I hear people praising the brightness of their $10,000 JVC N-series or even the $5k Epson 5050 projectors and I look at the stats that say 2-3000 ANSI lumens I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Why would you settle for 2000 lumens when you can get an Epson EB-PU1000 for $5k (or much less used) and have 6000 lumens and 2,500,000:1 contrast??? You can turn down the brightness to 3500 or 4000 lumens and get intense black levels and never pay for a bulb in 10 years. It's a no brainer.
    Side note, the fact that a 150" screen in your space looks tiny is impressive. You could easily up it to 200" and have brightness to spare.

      Text to speech?? You're kidding right? That's the worst idea ever. You should stick to tiktok if you like robotic Chinese voices lol. NOBODY likes text to voice voices.
      This guy's voiceover sounds fine
