An actual interesting god, who has abilities which synergize with one another? I can't believe it. Hirez, what took you so long? First god since a long time that has an unique kit. Give the man, who designed this god a raise, because he may be the one that is able to bring back new fun and variety into the game. Love this god so far. Good job Hi-rez.

I wonder if they will include other deities of the Voodoo/Vodun and Yoruba religions from the Caribbean, Louisiana, and West Africa? Personally I would like to see their interpenetration of Shango the orisha of Thunder, Dance, and Fire or Maman Brigitte the loa of death and wife of Baron Samedi.

I get the feeling they'd add Maman Brigitte as part of the Celtic pantheon under her original name of Brigid. Would be nice to have some dialogue between the two, though.

maninthemachine leave him alone. He does meaningful info that helps us do better in the game rather than just do funny gameplay videos. I subscribe to stormed and yellow shell for funny videos, noobable for skin releases and gem/event status updates, and dukesloth for insughtful information.

His passive is a better form of Chirons. His first ability is an offshoot of The Morrigans first. This one has better range, though. The debuff is nice as well.

Maldamba is inspired by Damballah, another Voodoo God/Loa that is snake like. He however is a creator god.
Sources? None of my research says so. Africa is a continent, be specific. Here they are using Haitan Voodoo in this context not necessarily West African Vodun. It says the name is Haitian Creole and probably influenced by the languages Fon and Ewe tribes of the Western Africa in the Dahomey Kingdom. Plus Voodoo is syncretised with Roman Catholocism and may not retain all of the former West African deities' roles.

Fun Fact: If you have five players running Baron Samedi on your team, you can unlock a special attack called "Coffin Dance." The attack will lock one opponent in a coffin, instantly killing them. The Barons will then dance the coffin to the nearest objective where it will explode, severely damaging the objective and any enemy player that gets too close. The Barons are completely invulnerable while the Coffin Dance is taking place.

Baron is by far the greatest God they've released imo. He is super fun to play, a very versatile kit as demonstrated in the video(support/dmg), and an amazingly well done design. 👏 Fantastic Job Hi-Rez 👏
They did a really good job with the beginning animation for the lore, I don't know if they had as much fun visualizing any gods lore recently than this ones

Minou amin depending on how much extra damage his hysteria does, he might be slightly broken
That could be edited stats via the console. Or he may just have very high speed atk progression with low damage. This makes it easier to apply his passive while also not doing too much damage in the process.
And the extra effects as well
its either sped up as others have said or low damage fast attack... i mean it was hitting for only 50 at lvl 20 with mages blessing and cd boots which those 2 alone give more than that dmg to every other mage no?
Baron Samedi is probably the most excited I have been for a god in a long time. His looks, personality and kit just work so well together. Not to mention those recall and jump animations. ;)

Rolland Hill facilier was based off of him. A lot of the depictions of voodoo man from the bayou look like him as hayian and Louisiana voodoo are young traditions starting up from traditional West African vodoun when slaves were brought over and then eventually becoming a spin-off. Think the anime series tenchi and it's various spin -offs and retellings.
faciller was based off baron samedi, and baron samedi has a very specific depiction which smite did an AMAZING JOB designing him when looking at the source material
I do like his design. I haven't played as him so I can't attest to how his abilities feel in the game, but his design is something I really enjoy. Like spooky, scary skeletons.

Fernando Moraga Well....there are a lot of "gods" in Smite that aren't actually gods like Cerberus or Achilles..but with it being "Battlefield of the Gods" I'm guessing it's just easier than specifying exactly if a character is a loa, or yokai, or hero, or whatever else has gotten through.

I can still think back to when I first started playing Smite a few years ago and was disappointed when I didn't see any voodoo gods especially Baron. I actually had tears in my eyes when I heard he was finally coming, I just found my new main, and I had been waiting since my very first game I played for him to arrive. Thank you Hi-Rez for making my dream a reality!
i could see baron as a magical adc like sol since his basics apply his passive so you could go hybrid aa dmg and ability dmg kinda like sol or chronos usually build. plus ganesha support with him would be op af
