This is generally to do with the placement of the antenna. The best place to hide it is either just under the top of your dash, or in one of your pillars. This will ensure a good signal

I've narrowed down what I want to try to either this head unit (UA13) or the ATOTO A6PF after watching your and a few other videos on both units (33y/o padded Cadillac Brougham dash with limited depth that I don't want to modify limits me to a standard shape). I'm wondering which you would recommend. I like the ATOTO's adjustability/DSP, but I'm not thrilled by the lack of RCA outputs. I like the Eonon's RCA outputs and more recent design/OS but I haven't seen anything about its DSP/tunablility features. I care the most about sound quality (doesn't have to be super loud), followed by "nothing stupid/annoying." Physical buttons/volume knob are nice. WRT sound quality the rear package tray accommodates 2, 10" subs which legitimately give me clean response down to 21-22hz, powered by an honest 300w/channel RMS (4 channel amp bridged to 2). The front/rear speakers are powered by the current head unit (advertised 45w/channel) which is satisfactory. I intend to try powering the speakers off the head unit but if that doesn't work have a second 4-channel amp which tests at just under 100w/channel RMS. Both amps have some DSP features tunable through Bluetooth and a phone app.
Any suggestions on a budget Car Radio for Ford Focus 2012-2018: 10.4 Inch Tesla like OLED Touchscreen Stereo Replacement with Wireless CarPlay Android Auto GPS Bluetooth FM DSP SWC Mirror Link Backup Camera? Seems not many actually list the name of the head unit manufacturer. Thank you.
Can you provide links or names of the additional components/connectors needed to install this unit (in a 2016 Chrysler Town & Country Limited with factory amp and back up camera)?
Thanks for the video, I always find your reviews helpful. I noticed when using certain buttons you needed to try more than once to get them to work. I have an Atoto A6 and find the same thing and sometimes have to tap a little beside the icon. It makes the head unit almost unusable without steering wheel controls for the volume as the icons are so close to the side bezel. Is it common for cheaper head units to have poor display calibration?
On this head unit that happened when I was trying to get to the next page of the equaliser. This was a mixture of the button being small, being at the edge of the screen and my fat fingers. Alignment could indeed also be a factor, but I didn't have this issue through the general usage
Another nice review Stu, I always look forward to your videos. I don't know if you take requests, and I can understand why you wouldn't, but I'd like to see how the Atoto S8 MS 9 inch fits in a car. I can't find any information on the mount as far as how much it sticks out from the dash or can it be adjusted vertically so as not to interfere with the car's controls/vents. It also has an interesting AI widget. My Atoto S8 7 inch is too small for my poor eyes.
On my other unit (much lower quality) one function it does that I love is I can open waze and have maps and also have youtube playing a video in a smaller screen on top of the waze. Do you know if this is capable of doing this? It is great for long drives listening to podcasts. Otherwise I am sold on this unit. Thanks!
Hi I can’t seem to connect to the internet to watch UA-cam etc, I’ve just installed this but can’t find any info on how to? CarPlay works fine and phone is connect via Bluetooth Thanks
I have the X3 here to review which I have not yet taken out of the box. I will tell you right now that it won't compare because it doesn't run Android. But I will review it soon
@@SaabUnleashed while i believe that is true. I do have a couple of questions. Maybe you can pattern it on your future video if you do come out with it? 1. Is the X3 screen the same as the UA13? 2. Is the x3 faster out of the box? 3. How does the mic and call quality of both devices? what about the Reverse camera? They seem like really good units for the price but they must have nerfed some of the features. 4. Does linux really offer a more stable future considering there is little Is little bloatware and updates that could slow down the unit compared to android units or UA13 in particular? 5. Is the sound quality the same as UA13? they have the same amp chips but not sure about the DSP. 6. Since x3 is geared towards to most budget consious people. Is it worth the price? is it the best out there for the money? Or is it worth it to upgrade to the UA13 for the additional features for only $30? lots of questions but hopefully I can get answers from you. There are a lot of mixed reviews out there of both units but I think most people who get any HU don't really upgrade as often as you do so they might not have the same standard.
@@Ulalayumyum "Linux" based head units are unable to install apps. They are very similar to the big brand head units in this way. As you can't install apps, speed and hardware specification are not really a factor. I wasn't particularly impressed with the Eonon X2 back when I reviewed that, but the same issues arise with Atoto's Linux based unit. I have yet to test a Linux based unit I like. But I will review the X3 at some point and let you know
@@SaabUnleashedas Ulala above pointed out. Please elaborate on the DSP portion during your review. The UA13 doesn't have DSP but you can purchase an optional DSP AMP that goes between the headunit and speakers from Eonon. The X3 has a built in DSP.
The biggest problem I have found with this unit is the screen is not very responsive on the edges (you saw it in the EQ part of your video) and then also with the resolution and screen size, when the keyboard pops up, it often covers most of the screen. I'm hoping there is a software fix for this but I haven't looked yet.
Hi love your videos I'm having a problem I'm hoping you can help me with. I recently bought the eonom UA13-plus doubled in 10-in screen I have a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland do you know if there is a wire harness plug and play for that or do I need to wire and solder wires without a harness I just can't find a straight answer either way
I use Eonon unit in my car and am very happy with the performance. One issue with Eonon and most other Chinese units is that the radio receivers are practically unusable. They hardly catch any stations. I have ensured my antenna connection is stable and secure. I have heard of some signal booster devices but never got to try it. Would love to her your thought on them if you have any experience.
@@ritali4876 I'm in Dubai. I have tried many Chinese units and have never gotten good Fm reception. I run a garage and most of my customers also complain the same. I have an old school Pioneer single din head unit in my 89 Honda CRX and that has amazing FM reception. Makes me think it's got to do with the quality of the radios in Chinese units.
hello SU where would you recommend i get information about the best choice of radio to replace in my Honda fit hybrid GP5 import, im more worried about the fitting/working than cost. if you can help please. Paul UK
I bought an external CD/DVD unit that plugs into the head unit's USB port. Your head unit has to have Apple CarPlay for it to work but you don't need to have CarPlay active, you can still use Android Auto or Android, the CP is there so that you can control the unit from the touch screen/SWC.
Great video, I purchased the larger 10.1” screen version and wanted to ask if/how I can access the internet when my iPhone is connected wirelessly (if at all possible?). Whenever I have my iPhone connected, I am unable to access Netflix etc. I need to disconnect my phone, link the head unit to my 4g wifi dongle and reconnect my phone via cable for it to work!
You can't simultaneously use wireless Carplay and WiFi at the same time. But you also don't need to if you just navigate and listen to music directly from the head unit by installing those relevant apps, which is the point of an Android head unit :)
One question. I have a vw transporter, and if you have a screen like this stereo has, when the sun shines on the angle of any radio you can't see what's on the screen. What's this one likely to be like?
@@SaabUnleashed Great. Interested in how complete the USB-C implementation is, video in? Also does this unit still have the limited Bluetooth that connects to phone but not a lot else.

Hi greetings from Canada I'm wondering if you can recommend a good head unit plug and play for second generation ford escape I'd appreciate any help Doesn't seem like many of these brands have plug and play for the escapes. Some decent head unit anyhow, lots of cheap ones, but nothing decent thanks in advance
Good review mr saab. I have a 2007 audi a3 and intend on taking your advice on what to buy. I would prefer a head unit that can permit 'reasonable ' phone quality. If it has rear camera, that would be good but not essential. It has original bose speakers so i would imagine they would sound good. I would prefer the head unit to be enclosed accepting a smaller screen but if quality, facilities and overall enjoyment is compromised, i would definitely accept the bigger screen to enhance the experience. So......what would you advise. I assume that each kit comes complete with all necessary cables etc.? This one sounds very good for the money and i note in the comments from the company ( well done guys, tremendous response) that a previous model can update to android 13. Would that be better suited? Happy to accept advice from yourself and or the company representative. Many thanks in anticipation. This channel is great.
Also the price is shown via the links in the video description. At the moment in the UK it's £130 with the Amazon voucher and in the US $152 with the voucher in the video description
So simple… crazy that I can’t find a not too crazy expensive head unit at 9 or 10 inches with a VOLUME knob (and home). Why do manufacturers just avoid this?
Everything is compatible with that car, with a MASSIVE amount of work. I've already done a video showing an install in that car, and I'm actually doing another one in a very near future
@TheRealMrRoyal the AU12S gets OTA updates, one of those updates was to android 13....still sold as AU12S6G but once installed and connected to WiFi it will update to android 13
I'm probably being an idiot but I have the Eonon X3 unit and can't get it to power on. I've never installed an aftermarket kit before so I know I sound daft, but I have the 93 wiring harness kit that converts it to standard iso, all plugged in but no power, do I need to solder a wire in anywhere?
I have reviewed the Eonon X2 Linux head unit, and I have an X3 here to review too at some point but I will tell you now that they are nothing compared to their Android counterparts

@@overbuiltautomotive1299 To me it reminds of a UI I would expect from the early 2000s. Like a UI I'd have on a old DVR
Car Launcher Pro is the best IMO.
Hello Sir. When you would have to buy a headunit right now, which one would it be? Around 800$?
Any suggestions on a budget Car Radio for Ford Focus 2012-2018: 10.4 Inch Tesla like
OLED Touchscreen Stereo Replacement with Wireless CarPlay Android Auto GPS Bluetooth FM DSP SWC Mirror Link Backup Camera? Seems not many actually list the name of the head unit manufacturer. Thank you.
Hi there, is this unit compatible with a 2104 Volkswagen Crafter Van .. ?
Can you provide links or names of the additional components/connectors needed to install this unit (in a 2016 Chrysler Town & Country Limited with factory amp and back up camera)?
Hello and thank you for great reviews! Regarding to this device, is it possible to share internet connection to the passengers via this device?
Thanks!
Hi

What happens after couple of years new android versions come, do they offer free upgrades?
Always love your reviews! Can you review the Eonon x3 version? And compare it to this? Thanks
Does it have any of that saftey shit where it stops you from using it when the car is moving? Cause I really hate that stuff.
There's also a Linux version of that same model. Will be interesting to see their comparison.
Yeah the X3. I have it here, I'll do a review soon. Spoiler alert - nothing "Based on Linux" will ever beat an Android based unit.
I recently bought the eonom UA13-plus doubled in 10-in screen I have a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland do you know if there is a wire harness plug and play for that or do I need to wire and solder wires without a harness I just can't find a straight answer either way
Eonon has a GPA13 head unit for Grand Cherokee (2008-2013). Plug and play. You can check this radio.
Question here…How can I be sure to the ‘fitment’ in my 2014 Chevy Cruze? Where do I order the needed kit? Thanks
Hi. Which country are you in that cannot use the FM/AM radio? Have you set the correct local radio area?
@@ritali4876 I'm in Dubai. I have tried many Chinese units and have never gotten good Fm reception. I run a garage and most of my customers also complain the same.
I have an old school Pioneer single din head unit in my 89 Honda CRX and that has amazing FM reception.
Makes me think it's got to do with the quality of the radios in Chinese units.
Signal boosters absolutely help.
Also try changing the radio ragion if the station frequency different.

Can you get it with a CD Player. Can't seem to find many.
Physical media is dead I'm afraid. You'll have to install an older unit
I bought an external CD/DVD unit that plugs into the head unit's USB port. Your head unit has to have Apple CarPlay for it to work but you don't need to have CarPlay active, you can still use Android Auto or Android, the CP is there so that you can control the unit from the touch screen/SWC.
@@Pro1er this is interesting and something I haven't heard of. What's the brand? I'll have to do a video on it
Great video, I purchased the larger 10.1” screen version and wanted to ask if/how I can access the internet when my iPhone is connected wirelessly (if at all possible?).
@@SaabUnleashed many thanks.
One question. I have a vw transporter, and if you have a screen like this stereo has, when the sun shines on the angle of any radio you can't see what's on the screen. What's this one likely to be like?

A couple of questions what is the approximate price?
You mentioned DAB but it was not clear if that was included or could be added at a later date?
This one has DAB via a USB add-on
Also the price is shown via the links in the video description. At the moment in the UK it's £130 with the Amazon voucher and in the US $152 with the voucher in the video description
is the screen glossy?
How strong was base on this unit
What is the preout voltage for the sub RCA?
So simple… crazy that I can’t find a not too crazy expensive head unit at 9 or 10 inches with a VOLUME knob (and home). Why do manufacturers just avoid this?
Is it compatible with SAAB 9-3 2005?
Everything is compatible with that car, with a MASSIVE amount of work. I've already done a video showing an install in that car, and I'm actually doing another one in a very near future

Does anyone know of an android head unit that will connect to Bluetooth devices other than that manufacturers TPMS, OBD2 etc?
I have a Joying in my 4wd that I use for maps and offline navigation, using Bluetooth OBD2 to monitor engine and transmission, and tire pressure monitoring.
I would love to also be able to monitor the bluetooth thermometer in the fridge, the 12v auxiliary battery, and use the Bluetooth to communicate with my GME UHF radio using the XRS Connect app.
Joying and other manufacturers all seem to block Bluetooth connectivity to anything that isn't a mobile phone or isn't a device they don't sell from their store.

"We do not test other devices and cannot guarantee that it will connect to your Bluetooth devices. If you like, you can buy a head unit and test for yourself..."
