I would just like to thank you so muck for this tutorial. I've been looking for a solution for how to connect my Android phone to my Android head unit in my car for 3 weeks now and I finally found it! You are awesome man, can't thank you enough.
I have been using Google map on a budget Android Tablets (Sansung A8 & A9) as large screen in-car navigation for years with WiFi from 'Hotspot' on my mobile, driving in many countries. To save mobile data usage, you can pre-download the google map onto your tablet as 'offline maps' for the region/country covering you driving route. Driving with mobile 'hotspot' wiFi will provide re-time traffic data, but you can still drive with 'offline map' on tablet alone without mobile. If your mobile and tablet are both "signed in" your google account, setting up your driving destinations (hotels, restaurant, etc.) becomes very easy.
Thanks for making these clear instructions. I was able to snag a Fire tablet for $40 like you said. I can run Android Auto perfectly with the cable but it will not work wirelessly for some reason. I'm good up to 10:24 but when I click "connect manually" in Wifi Launcher, nothing happens. I think something may have changed with the software since this video was created. I think there was a change to the wireless method. I had to go under Android Auto and enable developer mode and then enable "Start Head unit server". After that it worked!
@@bad-wig I finally got it to work. You need to activate developer mode in Android Auto on the phone then launch the Head Unit Server. Following the wireless steps with this video worked like a charm ua-cam.com/video/Rr3AESa-iwA/v-deo.htmlsi=x8fOzn4q7g1TvlmF
I use automatic hotspot when you enter the car (Bixby routines when connected with bluetooth) and a previous version of HUR that allows you to connect via wifi without wifi launcher app, and it works superb only with three clicks when you drive.
I was lucky to see your video today using Emil's Head Unit Reloaded App. I had the App for many years and always had problems but after seeing your video I finally got it work with the WiFi. Thanks😎
Thanks, I have installed and it works well. If my wifi is ON the bluetooth does not gets connected. So I am on wifi (hotspot from my phone). Two things I want to get suggestions from you: 1) How to make Music to play on the car system wireless and how to switch of the Android auto after getting down from the car. Thanks in Advance.
I am not certain you can get your car's sound system to connect doing this. Unless your car already has a wireless infotainment system. In which case you wouldn't need this setup, anyways. However, if you just want better sound quality. Try using a JBL portable speaker. I have connected my JBLs via Bluetooth to my tablet many times for this purpose.
cool setup I use is I have T-Mobile 5G Home Internet router running in the car so I don't have to use hotspot. both phone and tablet connect to the car's wifi. I do have to start AA manually though through the AA Wireless app on the phone. The major benefit is I can background the HUR app and use my tablet for whatever I need including watching movies and just bring HUR to the foreground when driving. I use a combo of Galaxy s21 and Galaxy Tab s7+
Totally satisfied, I found this application by chance by another person who posted about this application only that it had a much older version, until I also found the application on the Play Store, the problem for me is that I let them connect according to the steps which are required to run wirelessly but unfortunately it does not connect, it worked twice 3 times, the fourth time I stayed with the car on for 2 hours to somehow mess it up and nothing.
Thanks for posting the steps for setting up the Android Auto. I like this setup because it is wireless. However, the apps under Android Auto are limited. I purchased a (very thin & light) 13-inch monitor to use in my car, which is connected to my Samsung phone, and I run Samsung Dex on the 13-inch monitor and use any app that I got on my phone. The disadvantage of my setup is that it is wired, and I need to connect the monitor every time I get into the car.

This was great! I do have a question which wasn't clear. After going through this setup, each time I come to the car, do I need to use wi-fi launcher, click the Manual Activation button, and turn on my hotspot too?
Hi thanks for your comment. In the wifi launcher, there’s an option to connect your phone Bluetooth to the tablet. This is supposed to launch wifi launcher automatically whenever you are within Bluetooth reach. But I find that there’s some problems with the Head unit reloaded app and the wifi launcher where it won’t connect automatically. The fastest way to connect is to connect with cables tablet to phone or just use your tablet alone as the head unit (connect your tablet or your phone hotspot).
Can you also connect the tablet to the car audio via Bluetooth so you can listen to your music on the car speakers while the tablet is in Android Auto mode?

OK, you have a display. Then how do you connect wirelessly so that you can stream music from UA-cam from the android head display to the original car sound system?
very useful information but you need to trim the fat on the presentation and you'll have a bigger hit. What to trim? The mounting of the tablet. How to connect to wifi. How to use Play store to buy an app. How to turn a hotspot on. Most of the presentation here was on things none of your users will have come here to learn. It is okay to mention that you need those things and even in the comments to provide links to related videos but here it's important to just assume people know how to use wifi, how to use bluetooth, what the play store is. We also don't need to be sold on why we should pay $4.99 for the app and we certainly don't need the several minutes on setting up the tablet mount.
If you connect your phone via wired android auto to your head unit, can you still connect wirelessly to your tablet simultaneously? Can the car's head unit and the tablet display the same screen? I am trying to have android auto connect to both screens (tablet and head unit -Uconnect4 on RAM 1500) at the same time. Is that possible?

Great video thank you. I have a question, If I have a 4G tablet I take it I don't need to connect to my phone?
I would then connect the AUX to my car stereo for audio and bluetooth for my phone and I'd be all set
Hi thank you for your comment. If your tablet has 4G internet you still would need to connect your tablet to your phone via one of the methods: usb cable, wifi-direct, tablet connect to phone hotspot or phone connect to tablet hotspot just has described here: b3it.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/80001072238-connecting-using-wifi
