- The birds were thick, but the mosquitos were thicker. Come along with us for two days of hunting upland birds in Idaho. We pursue pheasant and quail in this two part video. For the second half I brought my friend Steve and his dog Spero for backup. I know it's a little on the long side, but I felt the action was sufficient. I hope you enjoy.

Dizzy is a good quail dog. Well, Bred, for sure... I would probably give your breeder some pumpkin snicker doodles or something in appreciation.

That was brutally thick cover... and the mosquitoes looked torturous. .. and then getting stuck! A memorable day..
Enjoyed the video. Maybe revisit this spot after some cold weather settles the cover a bit.

What were they eating? What breed of quail.?
Thanks for watching. These are California Quail or “Valley Quail”. They eat all sorts of small seeds and grasses.

At one point someone did post up in a boat. Only problem was that they weren’t with me. 😂 They were annoyingly blocking my shot on a few occasions.

Yeah the bugs were terrible. Spero is a Brit with a tail. Apparently that’s a thing in Canada.

Gotta ask, why a new gun, annnd why not a side by side.
In this video I wasn’t using a new gun. I’ll assume you’re talking about the semiautomatic in a different video? I used to own a side by side and I’m not sure if there was something wrong with it or what but I didn’t shoot well with it at all. I like a semiautomatic for chukar and huns because I can hold more shells.
The Mosquitos sounds are making me slap and check myself - unbearable.

😛 a little foreshadowing… I’m thankful it happened when I had company and cell service. Definitely could have been a lot worse.
@@NorthwestWingshooters there was definitely some pitfalls leading in to this episode , when you mentioned rain early on I was guessing mud could of got you , I’ve never hunted Idaho but an area I used to hunt in even a trace of moisture had us running to the truck to get out of there asap ! I did enjoy the episode very much, I’m glad you got out 👍
