- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- Howdy! In this video I show how I built a built-in adjustable shelf bookcase using 2x10's and wood screws. This is an easy build that gives you a dramatic floor to ceiling look. And with the adjustable shelves you can easily move them around as your plants grow or your decor changes for the seasons. Thanks for watching!
Big thank you to Simpson Strong-Tie for sponsoring this video!

What A waste. You should use that scrap wood in other projects, not just burn.
I hear ya!! I do save a lot of scraps and even saved the screws from the mistake, but not everything is savage-able for everyone. 🍊
Agree. Pull the screws, cut the blocks off, run through a planer and voila - usable 2x10s. Could even cut the blocks narrower and reuse them too.
I am thinking about making plywood shelves. I don't mind the exposed plywood look. But i wanted to floor to ceiling across a wall about 2.5m long... might have to make 3 or these and stick them together sort of thing... inspiring video. Thank you.
Sounds awesome. Thanks for watching. 🍊
Love how it turned out! Subscribed! I don't have a planer, but I can see if I have a neighbor that could let me borrow one
Thanks! If you don’t find one it’ll just be more sanding. Totally doable. 🍊
I love your ideas and creativity! Black combined with natural wood tones is always a winner. I was not expecting you to paint the wall black...that just made it better! Just awesome!
Yay! Thank you so much! 🍊
I’m loving the contrast of wood against the black. Great job
Thank you Terri!!! I love how this piece turned out. 🍊
Thanks for this. Simple plan and option for a modern looking bookshelf that can 'grow into' any future need. One suggestion - I almost didn't make it till the end to see how cool it was. Preview it up front?
Thanks for watching and thanks for the tip! 🙌🍊
I didn't like it until it was done.
Me either! 🤣🍊
Wish I had all those tools!
The collection has grown over the years, but I started with a drill and a circular saw. You just gotta start! 🍊
This is nicest Bookcase/Shelving System I have seen.
I have saved this for an awkward gap I know this will enhance with a much larger gap on the other side of a set in stove with a beam set into the wall above the stove at 5ft surrounded by brick hearth 200yr old burnt yellow tiles. Up until 1990 there was original Black stove installed in the gap for cooking, heating water and the home. Sadly some fool took it out before I bought the house in 1995. Everything I used is very old, except the actual stove. Ironically after I paid an arm and a leg for it, I could have gotten a really old one still working with cooking plates on top for buttons. Isn't that always the way, could have been doing with that money too! Oh well, it wasn't for me!
Despite my 'old' fireplace, just know your brilliant idea will complement it and bring these odd shaped alcoves to life each side of it.
Glad I subscribe and didn't miss seeing this.
I live in Northern Ireland.
Thank you! And thanks for watching… I’m glad you found it helpful. 🍊
Have you heard of a Kraig jig for making pocket holes to connect wood? I love the finished unit!
Thanks! And yes… I’ve used it on many of projects and love it. I felt for this build straight screws and plugs seemed easier and less holes to fill. 🍊
i love love loveeeeeee it
Yay! Thanks! 🙌🍊
I wasn't sure where this was going when I first started watching, but I am glad I finished the video. That is really nice!!!! I love the adjustable shelves "with no fancy hardware." Thanks for sharing! Love it!!!
Awesome! Thanks Jen! I love this bookshelf… one of my favorite builds! 🍊
nice solution
Thanks! 🍊
I love it! What kind of squares are you using? I love that you can clamp to them.
Thanks Lisa! I am just using an inexpensive speed square from the big box store. 🍊
Absolutely love it, looks amazing, great job 🙏🏼💚👍🥳🤙
Yay! Thank you cousin! 🍊
Genius

Looks WOW🤩 , simultaneously an easy build but also sturdy. Great idea!👍
Thank you so much! I love it in my space! 🍊
I love this!!! I am going to attempt to build one for scrapbook paper storage!
Thank you! I’d love to see a pic of yours when you are done! 🙌🍊
I would have gone with shelf pins but that turned out really cool. I really like the look of it
Thanks Tim! I wanted the chunky look. They kinda look like Dadoes so just some extra visual interest. 🍊
Incredible, I love the color. Time to build. Thank you for the idea
You’re welcome. Thank you! 🍊
Great! You gave me excellent ideas! Thanks a lot!
