      His physics test is off, he needed to consider weight distribution, the front of the jumpacon landed first.. in his cartoon example the ski man landed with his back down, which should be safer for the jumpacon.

    The camber on the front suspension is so wrong. Going positive under load on the corners is going to lead to either the outside wheel digging in (a possibility to roll the car) and or breaking the suspension itself. The geometry needs some serious work.

Like Rob Dahm’s 4 rotor, I respect the time going into quality because perfection takes time but I want to see these vehicles in all their glory ASAP even if that is unrealistic, sorry I like bad ass machines
    Like watching Kyle’s MR2 get damaged from a wheelie, it’s bad ass but hurts to see when he owned the items to prevent it but didn’t have the software to put it to use. I thank Anderson from FUEL TECH for dialing in the upgrades and hope to see that thing in the 7’s soon

    This is a cool build. There are several peeps in these comment threads who had been repeatedly telling you precisely what you discovered in due time. Looks like you’re on the right “track”. Depending on how hard you want to hit your obstacles, you’re gonna need to build the hell out of your suspension. Yes ride height is pivotal, but you need waaaay more suspension articulation. Way more travel before you start dialing in your compression, rebound, etc. As you don’t have four wheel drive, you need momentum to carry you over and thru obstacles. I’d look for a salvaged ZR2 that you can work with. You can build the hell out of that platform.

  • @aluminumrivet2142

      @@MyNameisStorm For sure, although common sense should have told them this was nowhere near ready for jumping. They are capable of making this thing as badass as they want to. It's just a matter of if they want to or not. He kept saying he wants it to be low profile, so I have my doubts. Either way it would be a ton of fun when used within its limits.

    • @douglaspealing5608
      @douglaspealing5608 3 роки тому +1

      I understand what you mean, however I will just point out gravity works at the same rate no matter what your velocity is. Granted, you have a load from drag on landing the faster you go, but it's pretty minimal in the grand scheme of things. Doesn't change the fact they only dropped it from 3 ft tho lol

    • @aluminumrivet2142
      @aluminumrivet2142 3 роки тому +7

      @@douglaspealing5608 Momentum = mass x velocity. It makes a huge difference because that momentum is carried into the ground. You can see the car travel in a downward arc, then nose in and rebound. That rebound essentially levers the rear end into the ground as well. It's completely different than a stationary drop.
      They also only dropped a fraction of the full weight of the car with the forklift. The rest still resting on the ground. It's akin to standing on a scale with one foot on the floor. It's not as simple as gravity being the same, there are a lot of other forces at work.

    You need some front fenders to keep the sand from going in the side windows and hopefully away from the radiators. Maybe some rear fenders too. Also I still do not think you have the shocks wrong. The upper spring NEVER moved. Something must be assembled wrong. Get some suspension seats too.
    And... you should not mix pain killers with alcohol.

    • @fish_built
      @fish_built 3 роки тому +7

      Agreed on most, but those Corbeau seats ARE suspension seats, and suspension seats are actually worse for racing than shell seats. There's a reason race trucks have shell seats, not suspension seats. These are the wrong seats for a race car, great for a prerunner or equivalent, but not a race seat. Corbeau has better options for their purposes

    There are 2 problems with the vehicle.
    1. The front is heavier so after it takes off it doesn't maintain the trajactory or angle that it launched.
    2. The test you did by forklift is invalid. When the vehicle takes off at a high speed, the from wheels lands first making it a pivot and the back wheels slam at a much higher force than that you simulated with the forklift.
    Although the distribution of force with that additional impact point sure helps.

      there is some kind of stigma to talking to a pro chassis/suspension tuner. there is so much wrong with this setup i couldn't fit it in the text limit if i tried. it's good to hear him mention shocks and springs but he needs to start with at least doubling the length of the shocks and getting springs that allow the car to sit at about 30% stroke and then tune maybe + - 5% from there with spring stiffness. the next biggest problem i seen was that massive + camber in the corners, he's going to snap a wheel off or roll it in any kind of "race"
