    love this! but i think you might want to mention that some citrus essential oils are phototoxic so if you don't apply sunscreen after applying you can get pretty bad sunburn

    • @persephonespomegranate
      @persephonespomegranate 4 роки тому +2

      Laura Kang thank you, I was going to say this! 😊 For anyone else reading this who is not familiar with the phototoxic nature of certain essential oils, they can cause you to burn in the sun - and quite badly at that (particularly on thin skin like bridge of nose and lips).
      Sweet orange (used in this video) is generally considered low-risk for phototoxicity though thankfully along with mandarin and tangerine but I’d still encourage everyone to do their own research and patch tests and stick to the dilution ratio recommended by the manufacturer (or follow a recipe by a skilled formulator, ie don’t just chuck a bunch of essential oil into a carrier oil without knowing your ratios - I say this with nothing but love because I learned the importance of a thorough education on essential oils the hard way after several burns :-).

    What a fantastic tip to use the layers of cotton rounds as a sheet mask! I’m a home formulator - I make most of my skincare - but had never thought of doing this. Definitely going to give it a try.
    And hydrosols + vegetable glycerin truly is a magic combo! Simple & cost effective but it works - I always mist it before applying my serum or moisturizer - and neroli or orange blossom water smells DIVINE. 🍊 🌼 Thanks for sharing your routine!

      Almond oil is a good base oil for sensitive skin and the jojoba is also good for all skin types. Sandalwood, chamomile, geranium, or rose would make excellent essential oil additions for soothing or calming your skin. And I would even add some aloe to your sheet mask!

    Are the oils here different than the ones you can just get on amazon?

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  5 років тому

      Oils in general come from different regions of the world, and are extracted using different methods. Therefore they can be cold pressed, refined, unrefined, organic or conventional...so not all oils are the same “Grade”. What I like about this brand is that they’re very transparent in sharing information on all of their products so I would encourage you to take a look on the website so you can compare.

      I usually upcycle them from products I’ve bought previously and used up. The spray nozzle i did however buy separately from muji (but it doesnt appear to be offered any longer)

    how do you cleanse your skin on the daily?

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  5 років тому +1

      Usually in two steps, 1st I either do a mask or oil cleanse (if I’m wearing make up) then 2nd with either african black soap or a more milky cleanser based on wat my skin needs that day.
