- Episode 4 of Beyond Victory podcast is live!
I really enjoyed speaking with Felipe Massa on who he thinks is the greatest between Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
We discuss what it was like driving for Ferrari in Formula 1, the toughest teammates, and his role now with Formula E.
He tells us the big differences between F1 and Formula E, and which car he thinks is harder to drive, and who he thinks is the best driver of all time :)
I hope you guys enjoy this one!

I have to agree with Massa. Without you as a teammate, Lewis knows he can beat Bottas any day of the week. Without having you challenging him and now with 4 championships; you see Lewis does not have the pressure he had in past on his shoulders. You did not give yourself enough credit for the pressure you put on him!
Come back to F1 Nico
Nico we missed your presence. You gave a tough fight to Lewis. Now Bottas is nowhere in the team, except to play the wingman. Boring.
Oh shut it nico is a cheat
I felt bad when Massa lost the championship in last lap. He is a trully champion person. Very nice and humble. Great video! Keep going.
Hey guys, thanks for replying. I like Hamilton and I think he is the best driver in his generation but I also think Massa deserved the title that year. But we cannot deny that last race was something else for both of them.
Massa was actually a competitive racer before that horrific accident in 2009.
@Angel except he would have been champion if the Toyota hadn't moved over
@ISLAMATRON the one with the most points deserves it end of
Me too! I just hated that Hamilton won that chanpionship, it would be great to see Massa winning
"Ferrari is a religion". This is true Great Massa, and you will be in the heart of the italians.
Can't win a championship since when Ferrari is garbage
@@Masterleechan "Form is temporary, class is permanent". Ferrari will always be the best and most legendary team in F1.
@Honey badger From English football I would personally rather compare Ferrari with Liverpool because I hate Manchester United. I know that Man United has the most Premier League titles (just like Ferrari has the most titles in F1) but I'm a Liverpool supporter and I think Liverpool has the same kind of "Never give up fighting" mentality as Ferrari does and Liverpool also has the most passionate fans just like Ferrari has and Jürgen Klopp actually even reminds me a little of Maurizio Arrivabene and Liverpool and Ferrari both have red color as their signature color. But Ferrari could also be compared with Juventus, even though Juventus' main colors are black/white. Oh and by the way, I think there are plenty of people who hate Force India and Borussia Dortmund.
@Hawk but if ferrrari keep loosing and their cars keep catching fire they'll loose their power.
@@horsepower523 There is no F1 without Ferrari....teams comes and gone...but Ferrari es always there...
Nico and Felipe challenging each other on Formula E would be a nice show.

Congratulations for the amazing job, it’s really good to see those two guys together talking about theirs experiences. We Brazilians have much proud of Felipe Massa, nice to see him again. Congratulations Nico from Brazil 🇧🇷

When speaks about Alonso?
The CANOXxX at the very end he speaks about Hamilton and Alonso
I expected very extended conversation about Alonso but unfortunately at the end Nico just asked to rate Alonso and Massa said Schumi and Alonso in the same level for him and that's all!
@@RUFATIMANLI-bv8xj me also,quite disappointing..😓
@@RUFATIMANLI-bv8xj On the same level? the Kaiser and Alonso? Mmmm
Love to hear that so many people including ex-drivers say that Fernando is on the same level as MSC. I loved to watch their fights back in the day, both brilliant minds and drivers, still its sad to see that Fernando didn't really get an opportunity to show it in the recent years, would have loved to see it.
True words ! Just wished we could have put Senna in the same era as Alonso and Schumi in the same cars ! The 3 greatest F1 drivers ever !
German and a Brazilian having a conversation in English the talent never ends
Does Massa ever age? What a fantastic driver, F1 misses him.
Yes, you just need to see the back of his head hahah, jk, he's a legend
Hes an amazing guy Mr Massa . Had the pleasure of meeting him at the 2014 Hungarian Gp in a restaurant called the Tom George with his family . Such a lovely down to earth guy! Nico was there also but didn't get a chance to speak to him . Great memories of both these F1 greats
God tier content Nico, really great job. Everyone can clearly see the difference in which you take onboard the feedback and actually action on the feedback to make improvements from previous episodes. Absolutely Stellar, danke.
Felipe’s insight about ferrari and pressure gives a total picture where Vettel’s on track mistakes come from
Corne Van Gulik Vettel is a racing driver and he has to be able to handle that pressure. That's why Ferrari hired him.
ISLAMATRON never said seb is flawless but this season is exceptional in terms of mistakes
@MEGATRON you literally picked out 3 examples - everyone crashes what do you expect your going flat out on a track with cars all around you - you silly human! i can take any driver and give a few a examples of when drivers crash
Love you both. One of the best podcasts ever.
Hey are you from Mangalore
@@venki66 No I'm from Delhi. Hello!
@@sailenkatel3436 hi
thanks
Love Massa. You two guys were the two best gentleman in formula 1.
I'll add Jenson Button to the mix aswell, wonderful drivers.
All great drivers who know the truth about Hamilton...
First Last Do you mean they know Hamilton is better than all of them 😂
Monaco 2014 and Spa 2014
....with Mika Hakkinen too..
Nico deserves a lot of respect too you know. Only he knows how difficult it really was to beat Michael and Lewis. He was up against everything. Well done again for the WDC.
I think Felipe is right. Lewis is not under pressure at all! Not since the race in Germany. He just kinda found a new purpouse and the more mistakes Vettel made, the more confident Lewis got. So after he won a few races the pressure was pretty much gone. And the opposite has happened to Sebastian. With every next victory for Hamilton the pressure on him kept growing and he made more and more mistakes. That's how I see it.
I AGREE WITH YOU:
Vettel could not STOP Lewis from EQUALLING him - 4 champs!
Seemingly, Vettel cannot stop Lewis from EXCEEDING him - 5 champs!
For Felipe to "soulfully" express his opinion on Lewis v Vettel and differ from Nico is profound !!
Felipe's judgement was indeed spot-on while Nico remains both passive-aggressive and unforgiving - akin to "sibling" rivalry considering, he beat Lewis ONCE then RAN AWAY.....!!
Nico (son of a racing driver) grew up with Lewis and as teenagers, they were as close as brothers and naturally shared their dreams with each other on how the future would look like.....
I would expect Nico to be more gracious (especially now he is retired), in the face of other F1 contemporaries, in recognition of Lewis's prowess and inevitable GREATNESS.....
Nonetheless, Nico is a good man, i'm sure and i look forward to him overcoming his (somewhat) bitterness !!
Daniel Dimov I agree with you specially when he wrap up the championship this week but he needs to do it now otherwise it will add a pressure to him and Seb should try ro win every remaining race eventhough its no longer relevant but at least to show to his fans specially Ferrari fans that they have a competitive car and a good driver. At the same time i am rooting for Kimi to win another race for Ferrari either Mexico or Abu Dhabi.
I understand what you are saying, but if i be honest i dont share the same feeling.
I am certain that Lewis is under some kind of pressure, even if it is from himself, constantly getting the questions about securing the championship it from the journalists. Of course not as much as he would have, if the fight for the championship go to the last race. But i believe there is always some kind of pressure.
That pressure is nothing compared to the pressure Seb is under.
@@DanielDimov358 that is 100% true, i was just saying that there still is pressure. Of course a different kind.
"Lewis is not under pressure at all! Not since the race in Germany." that is not true ;)
Great interview!!! They ran with best f1 drivers, like Schumacher, Alonso, Raikkonen and Hamilton!!! Very histories!!! Very good Rosberg!
two legends
two hamilton haters
Startuper -shut up and enjoy these or go away. Nico would interview Lulu, but cry baby Hamilton is still salty about 2016!
@@DebbiSmithDC 5 time world champion is salty omegalul
Thomas Gibson -still, not my problem. I could care less. One thing about Nico, he sees Lewis for one thing that he is...a great driver.
Gabriel Brauna they are not "legends" but only "good drivers" . Nico won a championship with less wins, poles and mechanical problems than his opponent and Felipe was a very solid driver but not too fast on quali and in race (he also had bad luck like Singapore 2008)
Too short! Love these podcasts Nico. You offer very rare look inside racing and life in general. Thank you for sharing your very valuable time. Much appreciated!
Schumacher will be remembered for the 7 titles, for his revival of Ferrari, for the example he set other drivers of how to get the very most from his team, and his competitive spirit
Benedict Stonehouse don't forget crashing into Hill almost getting Fired by Ferrari for doing same to Villeneuve. Parking his car in Monaco 2006 qualifying. Hidden traction control '94 😂🤣
Well said Michael Schumacher will be remembered for his statistics being the greatest of all time at least in terms of statistics, bringing the championship to Ferrari for so long and also setting the template for the current F1 drivers such as fitness, strategy from the Benetton / Ferrari days, how important to have the right team around you and the important of team work and the never give up mantra.
Sonu03785 I didn’t know he almost got fired from because of 1997 Jerez ? He got fined. Thing is he won races in 1996 when the Ferrari was a pig and in 1997 was very competitive despite Schumacher and Ferrari expecting not to compete for championship till 1998 / 1999. Ferrari were no where before Schumacher. They did win a race in 1995 though.
Sonu03785 - yup! Schumacher was both a cheat ,and a dirty driver. nothing to remember there.

Glad Felipe put Alonso and Schumacher in the same bracket ! hes is the best placed driver to place them ! Great stuff
Love it! Felipe was the first F1 driver I followed when I started watching the sport in 2005. Always loved this guy! Quite refreshing to see him and Nico chat!! 😊

Nico, you forgot...when Lewis arrived, you had already won a race in 2012, i think China
Yes, china 2012 first victory
He absolutely stonked that quali if I remember right.
How did he forget his first victory?
You can tell he was forced to race as a kid been their as well, not surprise he doesn’t remember it. I honestly think he hated it in a sense lol but his dad was persistent. But I do believe he’s got talent especially when he beat Schumacher with the same car, and also beating Lewis. Don’t get wrong it’s a not bad thing to do your fathers legacy just sucks we couldn’t see more of it.
Jamie B it’s funny you say that, my dad thinks the same thing. He feels he was obliged to race with the Rosberg name on him. Interesting to see how Mick Schumacher gets on with all the pressure in the world on him already.
Oh man what a great show! Nico, your an amazing man for taking me along your journey. You are opening doors I always wanted to open. Thank you again and I support your decision to quit racing and focus on your family. True hero, you are.
Lovely to see you two greats pay tribute to Schumacher. Inspirational all around!

@@mattroyce They do. Alonso has FA Karts. Its been around for some time and they sponsor talented kids and then prepares them for F3 and F2. but you would be shocked the amount of current drivers who drove with FA Karts at some point too. Ocon was one and so did Sainz. Kyvat, Piastri, Norris and I believe Mick drove and competed with them in Spain. Look it up. It was posted on reddit.
Enjoyed this chat, Massa seems like a good dude.
Great talk show! Massa deserved one championship. Nico is a champion, against Lewis! Both know what is a top F1 driver. Thanks both for sharing your views✌️

What a great video. Thank you Nico for having Felipe. For me, as a brazilian, he will be always one of the best. He has a lot of respect here in Brazil and also all of the world and thats what really matter. Nice job Nico. great video!
Wow! it's interesting to hear Massa rate Alonso at the same level as Schumi!
Almost every driver says even according to HAM ALO is the greatest and most talent and extreme competitor he raced against
Judging from his performance during 2010-2013 I also think he was at the same level as Shumacher.
Viki M no not xactly may be only once when he refused to join mercedes in2013 if he got an offer apart from that its fine its just know like that that ALO took wrng decisions but its not correct
@@DeepThrottle Whata joke. Alonso couldn't even beat Trulli in 2004 during the GP's they were teammates. He is overrated like hell and lucky Raikkonen hated his car setup in 2014 with the Pirellis.
So... Raikonen hated 2014 set up but Alonso in 2004 was fairly beat en by Trully. Jajaja and jajaja again.
2004 was not the best year for Alonso, perhaps he was not confortable with that car like Kimi in 2014.
But again.... 😂 X1000.

What else does he need? This is great just like it is. He has microphones, good cameras, multiple angles... And everything is more or less spontaneous. IMO he doesn't need to change anything :)

I think the mic is kinda cool
The only think I would change would be the lightning - too blue a bit flat... But I mean it’s not important at all.
Podcasts are great on the technical side
Those mics are ameturish, too obtrusive and those wires are a joke. Get some of those small yellow mics like F1 uses for team principal and driver questions.

This is like playing chess. When you understand you start to finish your opponent, you relax and start better thinking final movements. Like Lewis is doing know. Felipe is right. Of course every year, he receives the challenge for being the championship but when you win 4 races in a row and make a big deficit, you start feeling more comfortable and make less mistakes. Ferrari and Seb never managed to challenge Lewis like Nico did in 2013-2016. Lewis is the best of all time (imo) and Nico managed to take one of those championships. When I watch 2017 and 2018 and see how easily Lewis goes, I better understands how a great driver Nico was. So I feel even greater respect for him now.
Good point. Vettel might (maybe) have the pace over a lap but I reckon Nico would be further along in the championship this year if he was with Ferrari. 2016 was a huge accomplishment.
Fantastic video Nico. You're living your best life. Keep these videos coming. Loving them.

Have to Admire Nico for disagreeing with Felipe about Lewis' pressure and I think he is 100% correct - Just look at him after the Austin GP He wanted so much to win and did feel it immensely.
Massa never said Hamilton wasn't still under great pressure, he just said it was less. I can certainly imagine the weight that drops off your shoulders when you have already won a world championship. I guess it's a sore point for Massa because nobody got as close as him.

Nico Rosberg, Hallo again. Great interview. I enjoyed very much. When I first saw Felipe start talking my mind remembered this scene. He was racing and I don't remember if a car or what hit his head, but there is a camera shot looking into his visor and his head // above the eye was swollen badly. Good to see this gentleman again, and he is doing good. Cheers my friend, wish you and your family the best.
Will we see a Rosberg Racing team in future ? I don’t mean The Audi DTM Team thats not his ...
its already there in karting. see other video here on my channel we became WC.....
There never was and there never will be a driver like Michael Schumacher. He was truly the King of F1. In his prime he could pull off miracles in the car that other drivers couldn't even dream of. I feel so lucky and honored that I could watch Schumi in his prime driving that beautiful red Ferrari.
Let's hope there isn't another driver like Schumacher, because, he was a psychopath who willingly and knowingly put other drivers lives in danger with reckless acts simply to win. Ask Damon hill and Jacques Villeneuve. And Schumacher only received punishments for the Villeneuve incident - his record for that year having been wiped. *After the Damon hill incident Schumacher should have received a ban for life.*
I like this series, Nico. However, you used Alonso and Hamilton in the title but hardly talk about them. You should have called it Schumacher instead. I was mislead in this case, maybe you want to consider updating the title. Thank you and all the best. Great channel, great way of interviewing the guests, interesting insights!
Awesome thanks for these Interviews !
Massa was great at his game. Knew how to handle F1 cars. Loved immitating his accent when I pretend to be a F1 driver.
Massa always had a caravan of cars behind him, so he was good at driving defensive lines. In 2008 he made an impression on me (when he had the best car on the grid). After that I found him annoying, not as a person, but as a driver. I like the human, but dislike the driver... Does that make sense?
Thanks Nico! Would love to hear more of these behind the scenes stories of Michael!
Looking forward to the day Lewis will be on this show.
how incredible is Michael that is still topic of this interviews. Nice to hear honest opinions of your driver colleages.
U need to step up the microphone game Nico hahaha
Sound quality is more important than how they look.
The best interview long time thanks
It's amazing he places Alonso at the same level as Schumi. I would place Alonso higher than Schumi but it's just amazing that he rates him so highly considering that Fernando single handedly destroyed him... Morale and everything...
This is Fernando was given a championship car on a platter. Schumi took a midfield team and made a dynasty out of it. People forget that he is the pioneer of the modern professional driver from his fitness to his work ethic and leadership. Alonso is good, but is nothing comparable in terms of his work ethic leadership and teambuilding as described by massa
@cplchanb I completely agree man. I think Alonso was very good and he was unlucky during his career in some instances but Schumi was on another level.
2003 Renault wasn't that good of a car.. He still brought the team up from midfield to the front.
It amazes me how people expect these guys to preform year after year at the same level. From 94 to 2003 he was the best driver by far. 96 he was at his absolute peak. At that point I would even say in my opinion the best ever. He was at his peak. After winning for so long you can’t expect him to keep it at that level. By the time Alonso and especially his comeback came he was on the decline.
@@ryanwaugh1 well, it seems you forget Brasil 2006... It seemed to me Michael was well in his prime still. They retired him to make room for Kimi.
