There’s two guys who could make everybody happy. Buck and the boys were everywhere and variety shows constantly wanted Buck as a guest. Dean was very comfy singing country music and the duet of Tiger By The Tail was just so cool!
It seemed strange not to hear Don Rich's harmony on this song. He still played some great guitar. Dean Martin did rather well with country music. One of his summer replacements was called Music Country. Ironically, Buck was a teetotaler. It could be due to his having only one working kidney. Who else misses all of them?
I feel like I'm in the minority here but I love it when Dean does country! I guess being a younger/newer fan it's hard because you've already heard so much of his catalogue and maybe aren't that fond of the few that everyone knows. The country songs are so different and he seems to sing them with such heart and have so much joy doing it that, yeah they're some of my favorites. This will be on heavy rotation for awhile! Thanks, uploader!
He didn’t even sing a verse solo wtf are you talking about .I’m sure he was contracted to comply with this by the record company he can’t sing this and Buck Owens can’t sing the covers that dean martin does
Dean Martin never rehearsed on his TV show. Just came on stage in front of the audience and winged the whole show. For real, and sometimes Dean messed up. LOL...
Sodomite Don Rich and Butt-plugged Buck Owens had a love fling ongoing and Don tried to extort Buck for $$$ so Buck sabotaged Don's motorcycle and had him killed in the "accident" in 1974... FACTS!
I've always loved Dean Martin, and while he was always entertaining, drunk or sober; there was one appearance on the Dinah Shore Show which was a horrendous disaster for everyone involved. It was pitiful. I still can't believe no one stopped him from walking onto that stage.
@@shnarklevonbarkle110I've always been a fan of Dean. So when I knew that he was going to be on, I would tune in. I remember seeing this live. I still remember this interview as if it were yesterday. He was wearing a light tan shirt / sweater. Believe it or not, he was not drunk. It was all part of the ACT. He never really did drink when he was in partners with Jerry Lewis. After the split, he needed to reinvent himself so it was suggested to him, being that he was Italian, and all, and had the hit "That's Amore"to give it an Italian twist to it, to hold a glass of wine because it was also mentioned in the song and it blended in with being Italian. It works so well for him that he continue using this as a prop and his image was one who would drink. But if you stop and think about it, he never did drink when he was with Jerry Lewis in the movies unless the script called for it which was extremely rare. He then had the image of being a boozer for when he would be on stage as part of the rat pack. It works so well for him, that he never changed it. And if he really wanted to, it would have been very difficult because It wouldn't be the same because most people by that time associated him with a cigarette, and some form of liquor. I know this for a fact over 100% my uncle was on stage with him in Vegas in 1986 and he would tell us that it was Martinelli's apple juice to give it the illusion as if it were some kind of liquor. His image was one of being constantly intoxicated. While Jack Benny's image was to be cheap. Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin it for you and others in case you didn't know.
@@donaldperez7981 I don't doubt Dean's act for a second. However, what happened on the Dinah Shore show was no act, and it wasn't funny. It was embarrassing, and even as a child, I became squeamish. Dean drank considerably more after the death of his son, and the effect was obvious to anyone watching. There wasn't anything funny about what was happening. No one was laughing. It still makes me cringe just thinking about it. People like Ron White have taken Dean's queue and ran with it with stunning success. I don't know if Ron White is drinking apple juice as well. It's a great trick because it makes the audience feel like they're sitting at a bar having a talk with Ron.
@@shnarklevonbarkle110 Are you talking about the one in 57' where he sang "only trust your heart" and "that's my baby"? because that was funny and he was very much sober in that one
@@Tomekkplk No. I'm referring to the interview he was supposed to do on the Dinah Shore Show. It was probably somewhere around late 70's or maybe the early 80's. I was in grade school, or maybe high school. He never got around to singing anything. He wasn't cracking jokes. He wasn't coherent. He was mumbling, fumbling, and grumbling. Dinah Shore was looking around for someone to help her deal with this disaster unraveling on her show, and after the commercial break, he was gone. Actually, now that I think of it, it may have been the Merv Griffin show. Dinah Shore was either another guest, or maybe a guest host on his show. It was in color, and it was live or tape delay, but definitely not a rerun.
Donald Eugene Ulrich (August 15, 1941 - July 17, 1974), best known by the stage name Don Rich, was an American country musician who helped develop the Bakersfield sound in the early 1960s. He was a noted guitarist and fiddler, and a member of The Buckaroos, the backing band of Don's best friend, country singer Buck Owens. Rich was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1974 at the age of 32. 🎙️🎙️🎸🎸🎙️🎙️🎸🎸🎙️🎙️

I wonder if Dean used any of Bucks song in his Dino Albums. I know Dean sung Meryle hit song 'Little Ole Wine Drinker Me' and possibly Faron's hit 'Wine Me Up'....But Buck didnt sing any Wine drinking songs.
Great video. At the first of the video it sounds like Buck has just finished a song. Would it be possible for us Buck Owens fans to download it as well?
When the GREAT Don Rich plays his lead, it's unfortunate that Deano is standing right in front of Don while he's playing those chicken scratch triples!
Pure Americana. Nothing else like it.
I guarantee you that Dean never rehearsed this. He is reading cue cards and killing it. Love this video.
I could do that
I never in 1 million years would’ve ever thought Dean Martin would be singing tiger by the tail with Buck Owens. Glad I came across this. Good job
Dean actually went through a bit of a country phase during the mid-to-late 1960s and put out some excellent renditions of country songs.
Dean grew up in Steubenville, Ohio on the West Virginia border. He spent a lot of time in Wheeling, WVA. He always had a drawl.
Sounds good,ty
The King of Cool and the King of Country together. Doesn't get better than that.
So RIGHT!!@😊
Both Dean Martin and Buck Owens are great singers, very enjoyable

They’ve clearly never heard “Houston,” and “My, Rifle, My Pony and Me,” then.💯

This just screams for Don Rich's vocal harmonies. What a difference it makes!

Don, man....he just HAS IT!!!! Knocks me out no matter what he's playing. What a gift he had.
The crossover I didn’t know I needed
Two legends who would of thought these two would be together. Thanks for the up load.
even Dean's talent can't quite span the gap between Volare and Bakersfield.
drunk or sober ole dean was all ways entertaining and great with buck owens

Two of the greatest singers & I love both of em
Two of my favorites, God bless them.
excellent. thanks for posting.
I love to see Dean dancing!! Thst's cool. Great duet.
Old Dean, I loved him & of course Buck Owen's.
Dean enjoyed country. He covered Haggard several times.
Don Rich and Buck, still d best duo
Two of my boyhood heroes. Guess I'm showing my age, LOL.
We Miss You Don And Buck❤
Awe this put a smile and tears on face
I like the guy grinning behind Dean
Dangerous Don Rich
Love this video. one of my favorite Buck Owens songs
Dean could sing anything
Great video of two entertainment legends. Thanks for posting.
Amen. Our old friends. Thanks for posting!! :)
For a young but long time fan of Dean Martin and a recent discoverer of Buck Owen's, this cross over collab is epic as All f*!
Guessing this is maybe around 1968? Despite the line about losing weight, Buck and Don have filled a little from the earlier days.
I never realized how big of a fellow Buck was lol.
Great camera work, capturing Dean’s face solo while Don Rich is playing a guitar solo.
GREAT SING A LONG, Miss Don's harmony.
Oh dino i love you so much. My friend we missing you 💝✝️🛐
LUV' IT... God Bless Them
Fantastic clip!
2 of the greatest, along with Don Rich
dino is cool
I really enjoyed this Thanks,Keith
Good times💖❣️☺️😽🎶🎼
Nobody - not even Dean Martin - could sing harmony behind Buck like that dude on the lead guitar in this video.
I just love these videos, keep em coming.
Love this❤❤❤
I love it.

Dean really was a huge country music fan! He did covers of "Cryin' Time" and "Together Again", both of which are two of my favorite Buck Owen's songs!

The song Buck had just finished was "How long will my baby be gone?" It is on the side here. I found it first.

It's not as good as it is when Don Rich sings the high harmonies, but it is a lot a fun anyway. Don's chicken-picking is awesome as always!
Is this what they call Spaghetti Western?
Anyone now that dino wrote a song with conway twitty
Deans clearly drunk here
Haha find a video of him sober and good luck
That would be impossible my friend. He either doesn't know some of the words in the song or he's plastered haha love it tho
+jeremy robinson Dean Martin was a professional entertainer. He would not perform if he was wasted.
James Stillwell dude.... Lmfao are you trying to sound serious?
James Stillwell. your kidding right?
Then Along Came Marilyn Manson ...
I wonder if The Great President Donald J. Trump got his dance move from Dean ?
Dean and buck sing good together but can’t outdo Don Rich and Buck
Drunk not actually act two be
Dean Martin was an excellent singer...but no. Just let the Buckaroos do their thing on this one.
I like Dean but he is out classed by The Buckaroos
I don’t know why they didn’t feature the lead guitar rift instead of showing Dean just standing there.Terrible.
cool but I'd rather hear Don sing than Dean
Kinda empty w/o Don
Dear Dean Martin: Better stick to your own stuff and leave those authentic good things to Buck and Don and their Buckaroos.
It was better than what was on the record originally
This version SUCKS... smh!
Dean Martin is awesome, but he should never sing country. It's like a rooster wearing socks.
