Bro I've been binge watching your reactions thru the whole week. I really like the way you dive into the lyrics and how insightful you are. With that being said, this album is awesome. It's crazy that this is the first Nas studio album with no features and he absolutely delivered. This trilogy is one of the best in music history IMO.
Man that’s dope!! I’m super happy you rocking with the reactions! Yo so I didn’t even think about either of those things - great points. I noticed the no feature and I love when artists do it but I didn’t realize that was his first with album without any. I somehow forgot about the asap feature on Magic cus when I read this I was thinking I thought Magic had no features lol. And yeah you’re right. Off the top of my head, I think Kanye’s college dropout/late registration/graduation series and Run the Jewels self titled series are untouchable but I gotta put this joint right behind those or at least in the next tier. Other joints that come to mind like the blueprint trilogy for instance have a standout album but doesn’t have the consistency. Insane stuff 🔥
I just read the kd3 review complex did and it was so bad I needed a legit review/breakdown and you delivered. Dude from complex said Nas cadence never changed and became boring, his bars were subpar, and he wasn't humorous. It was nice to come here and get a proper breakdown. Subscribed
To I had to check out that complex article since you mentioned it and BRUUUUUUHH….it’s borderline unreadable. Not just cus I disagree with the opinion but it’s poorly written. Less than half the review talks about the actual album, it’s all over the place, and when they do talk about the album, he uses unnecessarily big complex wording to hide the fact that he ain’t saying nothing lol. It’s like when rappers rap really fast but don’t say nothing. That was bad lol. But yeah if you into written reviews my go to is Hip Hop Golden Age. They’re reviews are much shorter than a complex or pitchfork but their takes be on point, their reviews are thorough, and they put me on to new music! Preciate the love brodie and Preciate the sub!! ✊🏾
Ive always said B-side rap reviews is the benchmark for all reaction channels. Another insightful review we can submit as evidence. always learn much from your reactions. Thank you!
Yoooo you don’t even know how much I appreciate the support!! Honestly didn’t know there’d be this big of an audience for super analytical reviews but you and others showed up and really held it down and really made if fun for me to make videos. Salute!! ✊🏾
Great review as always and that Kanye joke you made is hilarious. KD3 combines the Magic's rapping with KD2's content matter. And Hit-boy was going insane on this album. This album is in my top 5 for the year. Nas continues to show why he is the 🐐
Preciate that bro!! LOL not that I would mind a Nasir 2 - just want him to have options 😂 Man you said it perfectly! Combination of those 2 with a lil bit of extra sprinkled on too! Yeah I been playing it back tryna decide where I have it. If it ain’t too 5 it’s like 6. My #5 before this was Aethipoes which is a album that I genuine thought would be my AOTY a few weeks after it dropped. Insane year!
@@BSideRapReviews Yea this year has been insane. There are like 13 albums that have an argument for being top 10. My top 5 rn is MM&TBS, Cheat Codes, DMIZ, KD2, and The Forever Story.
Greatest RAPPER OF ALL TIME NAS! Greatest channel for pure hip hop heads of all time… B-SIDE REVIEWS! Keep doing it for the culture bro love all your videos and NAS was having so much fun on this one you can just tell with his cadences and flows on this he got that “I’m the shit” type of bravado in his voice on this one and I am loving it. Giving all his flowers now as the GOAT without a doubt 🐐 🔥 🔥 🔥
Bro I really appreciate that!! The frequency plus the quality of these releases is dope for someone who pretty much already had like 3 careers within his career. It’s pretty clear he found a new stride and a renewed love for the genre and I’m glad I get to witness it in real time
Preciate that brodie! Ay it be y’all that make it happen - honestly just wanted to keep the focus and never even thought it would turn in to much but y’all really been supporting me every step. Salute!! ✊🏾
The man has arguably the greatest hip hop album of all time. Had the same album inducted into the library Congress at Harvard university. They study illmatic for poetry. And also couple years ago he received an ICON award. Also in the last 2 years he has dropped 3 Classic Albums for the history of the hip hop culture. With topics about almost everything we live in today's world. Any shot at this genius is just a hate move . He's a living legend and the G.O.A.T. In hip hop and all hip hop heads know that
Big ole facts! Didn’t know about the Harvard thing - I used to always say that they should study rap for poetry. Not exaggerating when I say there’s way more poetic devices in the best rap songs than any of the most popular poems of any other era. GOAT Fasho!
The flow changes, the new concepts 30 years in is wild man. Not as many standout bars like in the kd2 ans magic but damn the story telling and songwriting was amazing
Exactly bro - that story telling was so vivid! I know it ain’t a short album lol but I still feel like he was able to say a lot given how long the album was
What's your top 3 of 5 looking like right now. Right now I'm got the Kendrick JID and Black thought albums 1, 2 and 3. I'm sure I'll switch it up before the end of the year but right now I got KD3 top 5ish.
@@mikeysavage7575 Dope list! All of those joints will be at my top AOTY list. That Elzhi joint is so underrated - I hadn’t heard of Georgia Anne Muldrow prior to that collab but her production was sick. It’s also crazy - and I just realized this writing your list a elzhi, Nas, Lupe, and black thought were all really instrumental to me falling in love with hip hop so far all of them to have top albums in 2022 is pretty crazy!
@@BSideRapReviews for sho! Honestly can't choose my other top 5. Denzel Curry. Ransom -no rest for the wicked. Sy Ari-Shadow in the Shade . Che Noir Food for Thought. Kxng Crooked & Joel Ortiz. Jid. Billy Woods. Prolly can name a few more Too many good albums this year.
You just gained a sub. The way you break down metaphors, lyrical nuances and devices...dope! You also understand how musical layers, beat changes, and elements work sonically! Keep it up King!
great reaction as always.. you're one of the few hip hop reaction guys who actually provides analysis/ reflections on the lyrics/ production which makes your vids more interesting than most.
Yooo I appreciate that! I love the art and I do my best to add some entertainment too...cant have yall out here bored lol but the whole vision was to keep the focus on the actually rapping and music and yall have been supporting it so I'm super grateful for that. Salute!
Have been waiting for this reaction as soon as the album dropped! Your insight is unmatched when it comes to your production ear and analysis of technical rapping. I love this album! It really feels like a victory lap and a notice for anyone who didn’t have Nas as the GOAT that he is the greatest to ever do it. Definitely think this album will attempt to make a push for top 5 status on my end of year list.
My guy!!! Preciate that and I apprecieate the support dawg - you always come through with the dope takes! This top 5 so crazy - I'm figuring out where I'm placing this now. Right now I got that Roc Marci joint or Billy Woods Aethiopes at 5 and I got this one around it. I think it's solidly in my top 10.
Oh there’s definitely going to be some causalities in that top 5 because of this album 😂. Kendrick, Quelle Chris, and some other folks might need to make way for this one 👀
@@BSideRapReviews on Serious Interlude, I think Nas is rapping about his relationship with Hip Hop and not necessarily an older woman ... it's more about how he was introduced and fell in love with hip hop ... It makes perfect sense if you also see how Reminisce (Past), Serious Interlude (Past and Present) and I'm on Fire (Present and Future) are sequenced
My first time was in 93. I was at Morgan State University and there was some promo CDs and tapes being handed out. Halftime was in one of those. I wish I still could find it. But it was different and I made sure I got Illmatic when it came out. I wanna say I bought it the same day I bought Midnight Marauders. Nas been the best since I first heard that joint. Even in his worst efforts, you see glimpses of the greatest somewhere on the project. Who else can say that? Who else has hit a four album run like this? Who else has done it on top of 12 solos? Greatest
Ay I didn’t realize that Halftime was a early single until seeing the comments with y’all retelling these first time stories. That’s dope af and I love midnight marauders as well - ima huge fan of qtip - but his solo stuff and his stuff with the tribe
Owww thats tough!! I rock with this heavy but I think Nas has arguably 5 10/10s and I'm someone who doesn't give out a ton of 10/10s (for reference I think the last decade only had 3 10/10s). For top 5 I'd have to put it over a couple of these Illmatic Stillmatic Distant Relatives It Was Written The Lost Tapes God's Son Such a crazy discog
Wassup man, im from brazil, so pardon my poor english (im tryin to learn on my own, so its a bit awful sometimes) But im diggin your videos because i love rap, specially the more underground strand, and you doing a GREAT job. Im not always understanding the rhyme schemes and bars, so its great we have ppl like you, who cares about show some knowledge about the writing, highlight the bars and beats, that dudes like me have a difficult to perceive. I just wanna thank you for that! Keep going!
Man I'm late af .... Anyways, I can't really remember when I first heard Nas but I definitely know when I first listenend to Illmatic from start to the end ... It was back in 2014 after blazing one giant blunt with my group and taking the bus back home. At my crib, I was clueless, what music I was going to play to sit back and chill. Then I put on Illmatic man and I just couldn't believe what I've been missing all my life. My musical taste changed from there on ... I gotta dig in KD3 more to find out, where to place it in my list, but dude, the way you break down and analyze rhyme schemes, content etc ist just amazing + refreshing to watch! You got any favorite tracks from KD3? Cheers
No such thing as too late brodie haha! Ay that’s dope af - Illmatic will def do that! And Preciate that bro 🙏🏾 Yeah bro Thun has been standing out as my fav so far. It’s prob gon surprise you but as much as I hate the chorus…I really rock with WTF SMH lol both beats and the verses go so hard. I also like Get Light a lot - that song is such a great vibe. What about you?
@@BSideRapReviews Sorry for the late response though ... My favorites are "Michael & Quincy", "Recession Proof" and "30" in that order Gotta watch your other reactions now! I've been missing a lot lately ... Cheers
Great review, you kno your stuff man. First time I listened to Nas was his song Hero from the untitled album. I instantly knew he was some God on the mic.
Preciate that bro!! Salute to yall for supporting me and help grow a platform so we can talk about this art form we love. I actually think Hero may have been the first Nas song I actually heard - it was prob either that or if I ruled the world, but that was before I actually understood either hip hop or who Nas was. It's crazy how he was great in every era of rap that he's been a part of!
Not sure if I can say anymore than what has/is being said, you are without question the most thorough and thoughtful reviewer. You tap into things that I’m not sure an MC is even aware of. I appreciate your commentary. Just dope all around. I believe the recent run Nas is on has definitely placed him as the GOAT. Always been top tier lyricist but the production is at the point that we are no longer even talking about the Nas/Preemo collab (as much as I would like that for nostalgia. This album gives me semi It was written vibes. Props to you brother
Yooo I really appreciate that brodie!! Man I can’t even lie - I honestly see all this as bonus points…extra credit lol. I thought he already had the resume to be GOAT before life is good even came out. That Nas preemo collab would be amazing but this hit boy collab seems like something we didn’t even know we needed. Salute brotha! ✊🏾
I love how u break everything down from the lyrics to the beats love it love it u got a gift this album is a classic I think this is the last of the series of KD if so he ended it with a bang oh btw u just gain a new subscriber
My guy!! Preciate that man - super grateful that y’all been supporting the platform. I ain’t think me analyzing bars technically would get this much support but y’all been growing the channel more and more each day. Preciate the sub brodie! ✊🏾
Bro watching u break this album down was quite satisfying. You are dope. Excellent review. Nas was in his pocket and he just showed us once he is the goat
I've been watching your videos since maybe the killing nothing reaction and you're already my favourite music youtuber. you always have some interesting opinions about the production and the lyrics. keep going brother. sending love from Brazil ❤
Peace King! Its always great to listen to your reviews! You are fair and insightful. And you catch somethings I didt in the first listen so the album just gets better after listening to it with you. Blessings to you and yours
We appreciate you fam. Keep going. That face you made on that beat change on Michael & Quincy was the same one I made when I heard it in the whip yesterday.😵
Great review! I grew up listening to Nas. His lyrics are so vivid that when I was walking through Queens Bridge like 1am a couple of years ago, I felt at home; however, I knew that I wasn’t! 😂
Ay that’s funny af and I feel you on that 😂. I ain’t from New York but I feel like I know it lol esp New York in the 90s. When I finally go ima be acting like a old head talm bout “back in my day” 😭
I don't really understand how this channel only has 1.88K subs. This man is giving real knowledge in an easily digestible fashion...for free. I hope more people recognize this before he decides it's not worth his time.
Ayyy Preciate it bro!! Ay don’t worry though ima stay around Fasho! The channel fun af to run (except the editing lol) and I get extremely high engagement for the channel size. I like steady growth cus it gives me time to grow with y’all - plus I enjoy getting engage with all the comments and discussion - ima try to keep that up regardless of how big the channel gets. I really appreciate the support brodie! Salute ✊🏾
Great review. Love how you go into detail referencing rhyme schemes, lyrics, cadence, sequencing, beats, production, etc. I love this 4 album run by NaS & Hitboy, it is truly legendary. Illmatic KD3 Magic IWW Stillmatic LT1 LIG KD2 GS DR KD1 Untitled HHID I Am LT2 SD Nasir Nastradamus
Preciate that brodie!!! I like that list. Will say I’m a little higher on Distant Relatives, HHID, and Street Disciples - those and a little lower on IWW than most as well as KD 1 or 2 but I think this is a dope list!
Hahah nah for real! Ay or shoot maybe they don’t even talk to each other - the way they chemistry is they might just pull up to the booth and just start making bangers lol
Salute bro!! I always felt that the greatest music transcends time. Not to mention that Nas has been able to evolve with the genre. He’s been THE best in at the very least 2 different eras and one of the best in all of the eras he’s lived through
First time I heard Nas was likely NY State of Mind but first listen was It Was Written. Actually, I think it was because Lupe rapped “rappers get the It Was Written intro” on some mixtape and I didn’t get the reference so I had to go peep. It was a wrap after that. First track Nas uses the same flow as Em did on The Way I Am: “I’ve been cursed with this curse to just curse and just blurt this bizarre shit…” only Nas is rhyming the “ay” sound instead of “ur”
Tuff!! Oh shoot that was off of one of the Fahrenheit’s wasn’t it? Feel like a vaguely remember - you remember the song? Oh good ear bro!! Thought that sounded familiar couldn’t place who it was!
@@BSideRapReviews I just did some Googles, I must be misremembering because I definitely heard It Was Written first, but that Lupe lyric is on the first SLR from 2011.
I am 32 years older than you. My brother, you killed this review. You made this old head super proud while also providing deep introspection on brother Nasir. Keep evolving in this lane. You have a gift. ✌️. PS..you might truly have to be an old head to enjoy "Serious Interlude", it spoke to my youth...and made me travel down a road almost 40 years into my past. She was baaaad...and almost cost two brothers our lives...aaaah 1985. ✌️
This is amazing dawg!! Big salute and much love and respect to you - this comment meant a lot to me 🙏🏾 Hahah that might be it! I was actually following it and hooked to the story but then I was like “whoa finish the story” lol
Long winded...... I'm old AF so the first ti.e I heard Nas was when I was listening to Main Source "Breaking Atoms". That came out in 90 or 91 so I was in 9th or 10th grade. Which means I think I bought a $5 bootleg tape from 52nd St in West Philly. Later in 11th grade (92/93) I heard him on "Back To The Grill" by MC Search and the song "Halftime" on the Zebra Head movie soundtrack. Both those songs had videos and that was when we saw the video and ran to the record store after...unless your city had a rap show on the radio in which Philly had 2-4. By the time It Ain't Hard To Tell came out everybody was talking about Nas. He was the one. Illmatic didn't come out til about a year later and we was fiendin for it. The summer of 94 in a 12 hr car ride from Philly to ATL Illmatic played for about half the ride over and over again. The rest is history.
Yooo this is SICK AF!! First time I heard Live at the BBQ was after I heard Illmatic and hearing that verse I remember thinking "aight I def understand why all these legendary producers wanted to work with him lol. That's tough forreal - I didn't realize Halftime was out before the album. I cant even imagine waiting on the album after hearing Halftime and It aint hard to tell and what it felt like finally turning it on and hearing NY State of Mind. I still vividly remember hearing Illmatic for the first time - I downloaded it on my phone but actually going to the record store, copping and waiting to play it...gotta be a whole different experience. I appreciate you sharing fasho!!!
Yoooo I'm amazed on how you break this album down. You should have a magazine or blog or record company should hire you and tell this youngin how to make rap album. You are the illmatic of review. I'm gonna sub to your channel dope shit . And yeah the album kd3 is on 🔥
Preciate that brodie ay Illmatic though - ion even know if I’m ready to receive that level of praise hahaha! Nah bruh for real thank you bro! Ay that would be a DREAM no cap! I be joking with my homies saying someone should hire me as a bar consultant 😂😂
Nas my favorite rapper but I have to correct you. He wasn’t the first multi syllabic rapper. The first I heard was Kool G Rap. He was Nas’s OG. They had a song together and use to hangout
Yeah my b that came off wrong - I didn’t mean he was the one who started it - I’d give that nod to Kool G like you said or Rakim. I just meant the rhyme schemes on illmatic were better than anything up to that point imo. So yeah I’m with you!
You think so? I gotta give it a lil more time. Might be nostalgia but right now I honestly got God’s Son, Lost Tapes and Distant Relatives over it but I’m loving this joint though
Beef reminds me of Lupe's Put u on GAME. Hence why both guys are my 2 fav artist. The similarities are scary. While Lupe is more of a antricate writer, it's so clear he's from the Nas music Tree.
Ay bro that’s a EXCELLENT take!! Put you on game is (somehow lol) way darker than beef but same concept - that personification of beef and I guess greed in the case of put you on game. Both Nas and Lupe were extremely instrumental to why i love hip hop. I think Nas’s influence on lyricism is huge regardless of if the artist mentions it or not but my boy Ilia in one for other comments on here brought up how Lupe mentioned Nas in his song SLR a while ago. I love 2 greats paying homage to each other - especially ones who I’m such a fan of!
This is my AOTY. I almost cried playing this shit. Nas gave me what I wanted. I ain’t love KD1. KD2 was content heavy a lil more accessible and had moments (no pun intended) I loved magic because Hit boy Production was dirty and Nas was there to rap. This album he said man I’m just here to rap and GOD DAMN IT that’s what the fuck he did🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤. Least favorite I think is hood2hood and it’s still a great song. The first half of WTF SMH I said he was just having fun🤣 but then that beat switch hit and GOOD FUCKING GOD🔥🔥🔥🔥
“It had moments” is a bar 😂😂😂 ay I ain’t mad at it - I got this joint in my top 5 and my top 5 is a blood bath haha! Yeah they just keep getting better and better. They not even reinventing the wheel with each project, just perfecting the formula and j love it. Haha I actually like WTF SMH - I just had T her chorus 😂
Illmatic is easily top 3 all time when it comes to near perfect albums in the hip hop genre, i'd put Madvillainy as the best of the 2000s and TPAB as the best of the 2010s right alongside it.
No arguments from me! I got TPAB and Illmatic pretty comfortably best of their decades. I like madvillany as best of the 2000s. Also don’t mind Blueprint, college dropout, or Stantonia but I think I lean Madvillany or blueprint
This album is so fucking good. Nas is the greatest to ever touch the mic untouchable. How you gonna write the perspective of being "beef" cmon only nas can do it like that hes pen game is unmatch like i gave you power etc thats why he is the greatest. 🐐
Dope review as usual! I swear it seems like you make your own music (do you?). This album is amazing and Nas definitely sits comfortably on the Mt. Rushmore of Hip-hop. This album is up there with Lupe's for AOTY for me personally. I just need to give it a few more spins.
Preciate that brodie!! Nah man I wish! Ion quite have the creativity just real analytical - matter fact my job is in finance…bout as analytical as you can get hahaha! Lupe is a dope AOTY pick. I got it in my top 10 - I thought rapping is arguably the best but I had the production holding it back just a tad. My end of the year list gonna be a bloodbath lol so many amazing projects!
Sick track fasho - gives me I gave you power vibes. Have you ever heard "Put You On Game" by Lupe Fiasco? That song has a very similar concept and Beef reminded me of that as well!
Great review. As always, love your descriptions of what you're hearing sonically. You're second to none in the world of UA-cam reactors when it comes to detailing and describing production. Calling that beat for 30 a "trap beat in a tuxedo" was perfect lol. Btw, dope to hear how you came into becoming a real hip hop listener, and made the transition from just being a casual who listened to radio and turn up songs. Buying Illmatic and Enter the 36 Chambers will do that to ya. First time I heard Nas was on Fast Life with Kool G. Rap, which made me go back and check for Illmatic. Far as KD3, I've got it neck-and-neck, so far, with Magic. Gotta listen some more, but Magic's a 5/5 mic album imo. I got KD3 and Gibbs $$$ as co-aoty right now.
Salute!! I really appreciate the love! And haha like it was a trap beat but that joint was polished af lol! Yeah bro it's crazy even reminiscing like that. I crazy to think how that was like 15 years ago...which also mean I'm getting old lol. That's a dope first way to hear Nas - Kool G was so influential and also one of the most underrated rappers. Thats dope that you got to live through that golden era. I liked SSS but I got it more top 20 than top 5 like i got KD3. The highs on it was dope but it had like a stretch of light songs that pulled the album down to me. The crazy think though is that it would be a lot higher for me most years but this has been a ridiculously deep year for rap.
Thats TUFFFFF!! That's cool af that you got to witness that first hand! 94 was the year I was born lol. You remember your thoughts when you first listened to Illmatic? Was it a instant classic for you?
@@BSideRapReviews I was a instant classic! Had it on cassette 😆 It was a real game changer, the west was running the game before illmatic dropped. You have great taste in music, I started following your channel this year. Keep up the good work 👏
The only thing KD3 is lacking... there is not one song that I consider timeless or I totally Love... but KD3 is the only one (besides Magic) that are no skips, straight listen to me
This a good take imo! Thun is starting to become that track for me but on KD2 you got Rare that stands out above the other tracks and Magic you can pick your poison out of the Truth and dedicated. I will say I personally think that a large reason for this for KD3 didn’t have any drastic changes in beats or rapping from song to song so it gives the album more consistency but it can mean less fireworks - esp on the first several listens.
My final ranking IMO 1. MAGIC 37 minutes of fire 🔥 the whole album 8's and 9's 2. KD1 ( I feel like 27 summers through Spicy is the best stretch in all 4 albums, unfortunately i deleted the first 4 tracks off my apple music playlist including ultra black) 3.KD3 most consistent album after Magic, but no timeless hits off my first 20 listens haha 17 tracks 4. KD2 fire album some timeless classics like Moments, My Bible, Nobody and Nas is Good. But some lows like Brunch on Sundays (Nas choosing poor singles again) Moments is my favorite song on all 4 Albums This Era is my favorite Nas era my second favorite Nas Era is the Stillmatic, God Son, Lost Tapes, ... This Illmatic, It was Written, I am
At a first listen I think that KD2 is probably bewteen KD1 and KD2. I liked the majority of the rapping on the album. This album has no features! Definitely an album of the year contender. This album just proves how relevant Nas still is in the current rap genre more than ever. Nas has the best album run ever. Great breakdown bro. Just love how Nas didnt even try as hard as in KD2 to rap and went like a river!
I got this joint as the best even though as of right now Rare is my fav song out of all his recent songs. I thought some of his songs were a tad deeper on KD2 and KD2 has kinda of grand feeling but I gotta take KD3. It just seems like they’ve kept improving with each release! Yeah bro he been aging flawlessly! I feel like a lot of 90s artists haven’t really grown with the times but Nas ain’t one of em!
Bro I didn’t realize that until I seen the comment section! I was actually basing it off of the fact that last year, I saw KD2 on most people’s year end list but i outside of mine - I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else have magic but that could very well just be because magic came out so late in the us at. Glad to say everyone knows the CORRECT answer out of those 2 albums! And big ole facts 🔥
Bro NO FREAKING WAY!!!! Fam if you didn’t say anything I woulda never caught that - that’s crazy! They got 2 completely different vibes too. Reversible might be my fav song of the year (esp the second beat) and michael and Quincy one of the best on this album. Crazy
Yes Nashir is the goat I mean illmatic not only turned the lights back on in Queens bridge it set the standard for lyrisim in hip-hop it also gave birth to the multiple producer album. Most albums one producer really made your album funny that Nas had a six album two trilogies in three years with one producer is legendary but to get back to his greatness Nas really survived so many different eras the beginning was very difficult because u had to be really nice I mean really nice to be seen as 1. And Nas was that truly without having a hit record what rapper u know that did that 1 albums 3 in a row and two being multi platinum and media and criticism was saying he was falling off. After illmatic Nas match that and beyond it was the most complete album gritty and polished beats with a Escobar flow that until this day no disrespect Nobody has come close to that flow pattern.
Long story for y’all rq🤣 First time I heard Nas was sometime during my early early childhood (I was born in 05) I had def jam rap star where u plug the mic in tha back of the Xbox. My dad a hip hop head too and he said he took me to tha store wit him when he bought hip hop is dead and some of my first words were that album. Fast forward to my 8th grade year, I was NEVER into music I was all bout football til health issues ain’t allow me to play. I was heavy on bone thugs, but I gave you power is what made me fall in love wit hip hop. Now at 17 I’m dedicated to hip hop I rap and plan to learn production like my dad (who’s a beast btw) Nas hold a special place in my heart along wit DOOM who taught em to rhyme on a elite level. Peace to hip hop💯
Bruh the 90s NY rappers be having me wishing I was from NY so I could rep it 😂 Nas and Mobb Deep had be wanting to be from Queens cus whenever the said queens get the money I thought it was hard. Then Wu Tang had me wanting to be from Staten Island haha
Maaaaaaan! I been spinning this album a bunch since magic dropped and Hit was ON ONE on this! This the best production I've heard from him. That beat change was crazy and it really felt like everything he did was gold on this project 🔥

Yoooo you don’t even know how much I appreciate the support!! Honestly didn’t know there’d be this big of an audience for super analytical reviews but you and others showed up and really held it down and really made if fun for me to make videos. Salute!! ✊🏾
@@BSideRapReviews Whats great about your channel is, its just you and the music and your great analysis
My guy you are a genius when it comes to dissecting music.
My guy! I appreciate that Fasho! 🙏🏾
Great review as always and that Kanye joke you made is hilarious. KD3 combines the Magic's rapping with KD2's content matter. And Hit-boy was going insane on this album. This album is in my top 5 for the year. Nas continues to show why he is the 🐐
Preciate that bro!! LOL not that I would mind a Nasir 2 - just want him to have options 😂
Man you said it perfectly!
It’s pretty clear he found a new stride and a renewed love for the genre and I’m glad I get to witness it in real time
Great breakdown bro, really enjoyed it.
Ayyy I’m glad you enjoyed it brodie! Salute ✊🏾
Nas is the Thanos of HipHop. Other rappers act like they got it but only Nas has all 5 infinite stone's. #
Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones Earth salutes you

I gotta sit with a bit first but I ain’t mad at that🔥🔥🔥
You got this as your album of the year?
Hell yea it's album of the year
By far album of the year.
That last verse on Mike and Quincy was unreal! He went crazy.
@@yobartenda the Michael Jackson scheme is TUFF 🔥🔥🔥
I know it ain’t a short album lol but I still feel like he was able to say a lot given how long the album was
I don't see an album is topping this the rest of the year. But we'll see. Awesome year for hiphop
What's your top 3 of 5 looking like right now. Right now I'm got the Kendrick JID and Black thought albums 1, 2 and 3. I'm sure I'll switch it up before the end of the year but right now I got KD3 top 5ish.
@@BSideRapReviews right on, yea I got Lupe Fiasco , Black Thought, Elzhi, Nas my top 4 of 5 albums this year
@@mikeysavage7575 Dope list!

This is the BEST breakdown on UA-cam Period. Keep up the good work bro🫶

@@BSideRapReviews on Serious Interlude, I think Nas is rapping about his relationship with Hip Hop and not necessarily an older woman ... it's more about how he was introduced and fell in love with hip hop ... Maaaaan. I had the exactly same reaction when "First Time" started playing. I just smiled. Such a great song!
Great breakdown. Definitely one of his top 5 albums here.
Owww thats tough!! I rock with this heavy but I think Nas has arguably 5 10/10s and I'm someone who doesn't give out a ton of 10/10s (for reference I think the last decade only had 3 10/10s). For top 5 I'd have to put it over a couple of these
Illmatic
Stillmatic
Distant Relatives
It Was Written
The Lost Tapes
God's Son

I am 32 years older than you. My brother, you killed this review. You made this old head super proud while also providing deep introspection on brother Nasir. Keep evolving in this lane. You have a gift. ✌️.
PS..you might truly have to be an old head to enjoy "Serious Interlude", it spoke to my youth...and made me travel down a road almost 40 years into my past. She was baaaad...and almost cost two brothers our lives...aaaah 1985. ✌️
This is amazing dawg!! Big salute and much love and respect to you - this comment meant a lot to me 🙏🏾
Hahah that might be it!

Also don’t mind Blueprint, college dropout, or Stantonia but I think I lean Madvillany or blueprint
m with u, Magic goes hard bro🔥

This album is so fucking good. Nas is the greatest to ever touch the mic untouchable. How you gonna write the perspective of being "beef" cmon only nas can do it like that hes pen game is unmatch like i gave you power etc thats why he is the greatest. 🐐
Fasho!! Yeah I love the concept of Beef - gives me that I gave you power vibes for sure.

The only thing KD3 is lacking... there is not one song that I consider timeless or I totally Love... but KD3 is the only one (besides Magic) that are no skips, straight listen to me
I thought that initially but songs are growing on me heavy
This a good take imo! Thun is starting to become that track for me but on KD2 you got Rare that stands out above the other tracks and Magic you can pick your poison out of the Truth and dedicated. I will say I personally think that a large reason for this for KD3 didn’t have any drastic changes in beats or rapping from song to song so it gives the album more consistency but it can mean less fireworks - esp on the first several listens.
My final ranking IMO
1. MAGIC 37 minutes of fire 🔥 the whole album 8's and 9's
2. KD1 ( I feel like 27 summers through Spicy is the best stretch in all 4 albums, unfortunately i deleted the first 4 tracks off my apple music playlist including ultra black)
3.KD3 most consistent album after Magic, but no timeless hits off my first 20 listens haha 17 tracks
4. KD2 fire album some timeless classics like Moments, My Bible, Nobody and Nas is Good. But some lows like Brunch on Sundays (Nas choosing poor singles again) Moments is my favorite song on all 4 Albums
This Era is my favorite Nas era
my second favorite Nas Era is the Stillmatic, God Son, Lost Tapes, ...
This Illmatic, It was Written, I am
I ain’t mad at you - mine look a lot different but like and agreements for each. For me I gotta go go KD3, Magic, KD2, KD1 in that order.
The GOAT 🐐 🔥
FACTS!
Goat
33:31 surprised you didn’t notice the NY state of mind sample here!
Minority? Nah most say Magic is the best project fam. Salute. The Goat did it again and after 7 listens, this is his best out of all of em.
Great review 👏 👌 👍 🙌
Preciate that brodie 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Great breakdown
Preciate that! Salute!! ✊🏾
Yoooo I think Micheal and Quincy is the same sample as the first beat off Reversible on kiss the ring. That shit just hit me
Bro NO FREAKING WAY!!!! Fam if you didn’t say anything I woulda never caught that - that’s crazy! They got 2 completely different vibes too. Reversible might be my fav song of the year (esp the second beat) and michael and Quincy one of the best on this album. Crazy
@@BSideRapReviews my dad thought I was trippin when I told him🤣🤣. And same here, reversible and serving are my favorites off that album.
Magic was impeccable
🔥 Reaction fam
Preciate that!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Best reaction☆
❤️Much love🎣
Love bro!! Preciate the support!
You wildin', those lmo's are for the youngins
What is Imo?
Long story for y’all rq🤣
First time I heard Nas was sometime during my early early childhood (I was born in 05) I had def jam rap star where u plug the mic in tha back of the Xbox.
Ay I remember that def jam joint. I ain’t realize you was so young - you know your rap Fasho!! That’s dope man I’m hoping you blow up 🙏🏾
@@BSideRapReviews appreciate it homie. Every time I hear you break down syllables it make me go try to write something crazier 😂💯
east coast realness stand up
Bruh the 90s NY rappers be having me wishing I was from NY so I could rep it 😂 Nas and Mobb Deep had be wanting to be from Queens cus whenever the said queens get the money I thought it was hard. Then Wu Tang had me wanting to be from Staten Island haha
😂😂😂😂 bro your whole energy changed when he said "Black home owners"
Lmaoooo why you gotta do me like that 😭😭😭😭😭
10:03 When HIT switched the beat... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Maaaaaaan! I been spinning this album a bunch since magic dropped and Hit was ON ONE on this! This the best production I've heard from him. That beat change was crazy and it really felt like everything he did was gold on this project 🔥
@@BSideRapReviews Hit left EARTH on this album something CRAZY no doubt! Magic 1 they album for me though, SHEESH!!!
