His wife said after his death that when he was in a car accident, when the other guy ran into him, Steve got out and said, “Some people will do anything to meet me.” She said that’s just the kind of guy he was. ❤ Injuries from that car accident ultimately killed him.
One of the funniest things Steve said was when the panel would get one free guess as to the occupation of the contestant. Dorothy said, "I think she raises dogs." Steve said, "I think she lowers them."
I can’t find the clip but Steve Allen was on the panel when some guy was a guest and manufactured some of kind kitchen cleaning product and either Arlene or Dorothy asked if the product was had a common, familiar household name brand and Steve Allen (being the king of quick quips) immediately asked if said product was called “Irving Boraxo”. I was born in ‘59 and grew up in the 60’s. Borax/Boraxo was king of detergents back then. Even safe for no wax floors!
Hal Block came on more as a comic relief for the show in the beginning, but he got way to personal with women. When Steve Allen appeared, Allen got more laughs than Block, which you can see Block's not happy face. Eventually, Block left and Allen got tons of laughs afterwards.
So quick and witty! It’s a shame more people don’t appreciate what a comedic genius and nice gentleman he was!
I love how Dorothy Kilgallen threw back her head in laughter when Steve Allen said that you have to watch those cheesy hotels! 😂❤
He was such a kind, funny person. Good looking too. Never saw him mean or upset about anything except Fred and Dorothy's deaths.
Those two shows still have an effect on me.

@@lorimac0260Didn’t he die later on the same day?
Steve was so clever and seemed so charming and kind.
Love how it's always " if Arlene..." 😂😂😂
Steve Allen was such a funny guy. It was such a pleasure watching him.❤️
I love his quick wit.
A brilliant performer
He still makes me laugh no matter how many times I see this.
Me too!
Oh my goodness; he was so funny and so clever, and I get the impression that he was very nice. ❤️
He certainly was
Such a funny guy and without swearing

Even the cameramen were skilled in this program.
4:43 Oh my goodness, Arlene's laugh is hilarious! Nothing like a good hard belly laugh.
Steve is so hilarious!
Always made me laugh
You gotta watch those cheesy hotels. 😂😂😂

I simply can’t listen to this enough times. I’m betting that he was a really kind man.
😂❤
He was - yes. Pitty how he died 😔😔
“You gotta watch those cheesy hotels.”
😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
Watch those cheesy hotels
Steve Allen was the best! He was so clever. Not only did I enjoy all of his quips;
I also enjoyed Dorothy and Arlene’s reactions to them.
😂❤😂❤😂❤
My favourite Steve Allen moment was after his show, the audience got up and went home, apart from one member, a gentleman who was fast asleep.
hahaha 😁😁
Notice how they would call comedians "humourists" back then. I wonder when that changed
Z When quick wit and storytelling went out and vulgarity came in
Forget the one which the beautiful airplane seller was a guest.
Mrs. Frankl doesn't come with the product dear!
Nicely done!
Love SAllen What we call in Australia having a dry wit😃

Steve Allen, the man whose mind was bigger than a bread box. Got a nice ring to it, hasn't it?
But is he bigger than a breadbox?
Smock smock!!😊
9:05 - what does he say?
He said: "I punt", which turns out it's a kick in the football. So after Dorothy said I pass, he responded I punt
@@teddytodorova Thank you.
Which episode has the bunny ears?
It’s the episode where Ed Wynn was the Mystery Guest which aired on April 18, 1954. ua-cam.com/video/vJRG3DOr7F4/v-deo.html
@@vanillabean0164 Thank you! Haven't seen this one yet.
When he comes on and signs his name as a guest and his line is selling motorcycles, the panel knew who he was, right? That was just for fun?
Of course. They went along with the joke
@@teddytodorova Thank you!! So funny! I love the humor then! ❤️
Steve Allen had opened a motorcycle dealership in Los Angeles. Honda, I think.
