Yikes. Cara needs to take several seats. She made social media posts talking about how she recognizes her white privilege, then continues to flaunt it in everyones faces rather than just...simply not. If she loves these women like she claims she should let them shine in their moment, have a conversation without being interrupted, and not touched without permission. She may claim to love them, but shows them zero respect.

As a white woman, I have no idea the full implications of the situation with Cara. I know that her behavior shows that she is fetishizing black women though… it’s just obvious. Even if it’s not intentional and she was on drugs like people think she was, a lot of the time drugs can bring out our most unfiltered selves ( this is my personal experience and other’s I have talked to though, this does not represent how everyone reacts to drugs, or represent how every drug affects people). If Cara was on a certain type of drug, like molly, and if she’s anything like me and others I know, then this just shows what she really thinks about black women. It also seems like she lowkey was trying to take the spotlight away from these women who were there to be professional, and perform. Lurking behind Meg during her time in front of the cameras, touching her dress and shit to try to get her into the shot of the cameras, and pretending to lick someone while they’re trying to perform….? It honestly kinda seems like she’s realizing how quickly her popularity is dwindling, and she’s trying to latch onto whoever is big right now. Meg and all the other beautiful black women that Cara has acted irrationally with are all pretty big stars, rightfully so. These women have worked hard to get to where they’re at, and I bet Cara has some weird feelings about it because she’s been given everything. She’s a talented model, sure. Actor? not in my opinion at least. It’s like Cara realizes that she’s not as talented as everyone told her she was, so she tries to hitch a ride to fame with Meg and others. I think she specifically targeted these women too because of the stereotype of “angry black women.” If Meg were to speak out about this behavior, I bet people would jump right into using that stereotype to discredit her feelings. I feel so dirty just thinking about what’s going through that woman’s head…

Exactly. She found it too easy to disrespect these women.
A lot of people discredit black women's feelings and feel too comfortable projecting their weird bs onto them. Right now there's a lot of online hate (esp. on tik tok if you look it up) of people just berating and attacking black women as a group unprovoked because it gets them views. And if black women react to the hate, they're seen as the problematic ones.
Like, Megan already got a lot of shyte for speaking out about Tory Lanes. He SHOT her and there were still people trying to make it her fault that she got shot.
Don't tolerate the mistreatment, abuse and disrespect of black women/femmes by people in your lives. People who do it don't expect to be held accountable because everyone expects black women to endure a lot of things because of the "strong black woman" stereotype that has people forgetting that we're human and have feelings. We need rest and support and we don't exist to take abuse and pain for the sake of others and various causes.
A lot of women will refrain from speaking out for themselves because of penalization for other people's biases. Politics of affect makes it so that asserting yourself is seen as aggressive and being difficult, and that can lead to being ostracized, isolated and/or punished.

About that weird feeling visiting a childhood home; I’ve moved 10 or 11 times in my life, but there was one place I lived for a few years with my mom that was especially magical. It was probably nearly a century old, partly dilapidated, and made of brick with a huge oak tree in the front in a quaint, beautiful midtown neighborhood where every house was a different shape and size with its own unique character. From the outside, the special thing our house had was these borderline tacky royal blue colored shutters on all the windows across the front of the house. It was a sure-fire way to pick my house out of a crowd. When we had guests over for the first time, we would say “it’s the one with the blue shutters”, and nothing further ever needed to be said. Inside, every room was a different color - one olive, one yellow, one green and one blue bathroom, a mocha brown kitchen, and my favorite, a tiny, scarlett red sunroom, just big enough for a lounge chair, a shelf, and a table. All the windows in the room illuminated the walls and gave it an electric but somehow extremely calming vibe. We lovingly referred to it as “the red room”. A few months after we moved out and I was still living in the area, I decided to drive by. The new owners had painted the shutters black. It struck me so hard that I had to stop and take a closer look. I could see through open blinds that our beautiful scarlett sunroom, our “red room”, had been painted white. It totally broke my heart. I hate to imagine what has been done to the walls of the other rooms. I spent probably the best years of my life in that house, and the colorful rooms were my whimsical backdrop for what were mostly really happy times in my favorite part of my favorite city. Of course when you live somewhere for a while, you feel attached to it as a familiar setting for your everyday activities, but despite only living in that house for about 3 years, I genuinely felt like that house was an extension of myself. It was everything I ever wanted in a house and it was a dream come true when we moved there. A handful of factors made those years a pivotal time in my life which really heightened my attachment to that area of town and the city itself, but I will never forget my magical rainbow house on 56th street, no matter how much paint hides my red room and blue shutters.

I looked at the pictures and felt like "hey, you're not supposed to be there. They dont even know the history I have with that building, how dare they!" Its was a trip

About the fear of starting a fire: once in high school I woke up from the cracks of our roof burning. Apparently, there was a wire misfire (misFIRE, heh) and nothing really suffered apart from the top of the roof that had to be redone. But man, you bet I unplug everything that there is unpluggable every day while hearing that damn PTSD-inforsed roof burning sounds.

Bro lmao one time maybe a year and a half ago I decided to sleep in the living room for some reason (my mom also sleeps in the living room idk why tbh) and I woke up at 3am to the smell of smoke. Turns out my mom lit up a cigarette while mostly still asleep and it fell onto her purse and it started smoldering. My dumbass woke up and for some reason assumed the gas was left on (even though I was smelling smoke and not gas), fun times

in my school multiple people set fire to multiple classrooms. i personally witnessed two instances of arson, once it was a burning curtain and the other was a burning plastic bin. another time someone slipped in a piece of sodium metal into a teachers breast pocket where it mixed with sweat and gave him very serious burns. i went to school with absolute psychopaths.

I think it's normal to have feelings about a building bc the same thing happened to me recently! My dad helped build my childhood home. My parents inevitably divorced and I split my time between that house and my mom's new one until my dad eventually sold it and moved out of state when i was in middle school. I check up on it online every now and then and am always so upset to see how it's changed - all the landscaping we did is gone, the back deck my dad built is gone, the house has been painted, the inside completely redone, etc. It doesn't even look like what I remember. I felt so dumb for being so hurt bc no one else in my family seemed to care. Idk, maybe it's me wanting to keep memories of things from my childhood now that I'm getting into my 30s, but it hit me fucking hard. I have a dream of getting enough money to buy it back one day, but doubtful. Definitely can relate to you kurtis!
I also found out my elementary school got torn down bc they found asbestos in the foundation or whatever and I legit teared up thinking about how I can never revisit it or even the spot where it was at. They bulldozed the area and put up a new police headquarters bldg. Again, so dumb to get upset bc obviously it's been over 20 years since I went there, but damn dude.

I too am always very cautious and paranoid about fire safety and potential fire hazards, but I wouldn't call it irrational. I lost everything I owned in 2018 when my home burned down, taking with it two decades of my art work and all my possessions and equipment, etc. So I think that even if it is a tad excessive, its never irrational
