How sick would that have been if Id had raised Zeboim back to the surface and like claimed it....woulda been cool having your aux members have to go in there and try to beat this "mysterious intruder"...little did they know...
This was the part when I seriously knew there had to be SOME sort of connection between Id and Fei. I mean, both Grahf and Wiseman have similar styles to Id, but Id uses Fei's style EXACTLY. His normal attack string is all 4 triangle attacks + 2 square attacks (8 AP string? whaaa?) and he uses the same deathblows too.
I think that was to display his power (the 8 AP string). Being that the maximum you could use was seven, his attacks went to 8 just to show off that he could have easily killed the team. I never figured out that Id was Fei until they said so. I knew there was a connection but between Grahf, Wiseman, Fei, and Id, I couldn't see any of them being the same person. They really tricked me with the pronoun game when Fei's father looked at Grahf and looked at Id and said, "You will not take him." I seriously thought he was protecting Fei from them instead of actually referring TO Id.
I kinda knew immediately ID was Fei. It was almost too obvious with everything else (Ramsas flashback, the many chaotic moments, etc). It was still a well done and original plot device with the way it was presented
I will never forget this. Still as epic as I remember It happened. The mecha descended at a super fast speed, and just at the screen, It almost Instantly slowed down back to cero. And then the music playing In the background. Just pure gorgeous and perfection!
The game did such a good job making me totally forget about the fact that Fei was gone from the party, so I wouldn't suspect who Id was. I also remember this fight being very hard.
It did both, it also tried to make it obvious too. ID and Fei have the same attacks. But that aside id's name alone is a big reflag in (Freudian psychology there is the Ego, Super ego and id, id being pleasure and raw desire.)

What i like about this fight is that even when id is at low hp he doesn't look like he's tired at all unlike every other boss when you get them to low hp, hell even grahf at the end of disc one he was on his knees for a moment when you beat him but not id. Id not changing animations made it feel like he was just toying with you

FF7 was truly a generational game that touched a lot of people’s core memories and influenced RPGs moving forward. However, I’d argue, for the overall story and madness that was Xenogears, while I doubt as many ppl played it as FF7, those that did were forever changed by it. I include myself in that category and would feel blessed if the community ever received a full remake like FF7 and that flushed out the story that everyone was hoping for in Disc 2. The themes and ideas presented by the game are complex at times, but it’s a story full of characters that you’d find in some masterpiece of literature. If you played Xenogears, you just know. It’s easier to just hand someone the controller and order them food than to explain why it was worth playing back in the day.
Cool fight. If you have been fighting in most random encounters and have your death blows leveled up it's not that hard though. When I was a kid I had some trouble with this, but I recently replayed as an adult and didn't escape from any random encounters and it was cake.
Some people are saying this fight is easy, but this is just based on luck. Sometimes the AI spams basic crap (I've had a couple of fights were I never experienced his deathblows), other times he goes ham and does 2:33 almost religiously. If he gets into those back to back spamming of deathblows, this fight is tough. Too bad his AI is so random in this fight.
Definitely RNG dependent. I was able to breeze through this fight, but the infamous fight against Miang took me weeks. I can still remember the cutscene between both battles.
