    I Stumbled a crossed ur cover of this when I was learning to play it , 5 or so years ago. Saw it in my suggestion , views 64k . I thought he's wearing potter glasses n dressed like he changes tires part time at Wal-Mart . I clicked n with in the first bar I perked up realizing you had 30 years of skill packed into your fingers . Then ... Then your started to sing . I was amazed ! watched it > 5 times took note of how you used different inversions of the chord to better fit what you was doing. I became an instant fan . Hope you make a billon dollars but I know even if you don't ur still going to do what your born to do . Your the finest n most diverse young musician ive ever seen on here . Thanks Josh , n continue to inspire people on your path to reinvent music.

    My passion for the guitar has gone up and down, back and forth during the last few years. But today I somehow came across your channel - and all I can say is wow! You made me realize what this instrument is all about. I haven't felt this motivated to take my guitar playing to the next level for a long time. Thank you! And I guess it goes without saying, but I'd love to see more lessons from you. You're great.

  • @AbigailPoirier
    @AbigailPoirier 7 років тому +1

    It works! I can play the intro! ...slowly...painfully. But the notes are basically the same as yours, which is super cool. One of my guitar students and I were talking today and we decided a musician's life could pretty much be summed up in 5 words: "I wanna make those sounds." And when I hear your songs, that's exactly how I feel. Thanks for the inspiration, and better yet, the tutorial!

  • @SwedishDylan
    @SwedishDylan 7 років тому +3

    I believe the reason for your face grimashing is the same reason some of us cannot learn stuff like this. You "feel", "sense", "foreboding" something that not all of us has the ability to. And some of us can feel it when others play, but not make it ourselves. You, are a musical genius in my opinion.

    Sorry Josh I forgot to say I absolutely loved your Sultans of Swing lesson, I can finally play it on my own now. Which is great for me because here in England we have open mike nights in pubs and clubs, which is pretty much were anyone can get up and play and sing. It kink of builds your confidence to play in front of people. Thanks Josh.

    Thanks for this. You're one of the best guitar teachers I've found on youtube. You're really clear and concise in your explanations and, most importantly for me, you don't waste time showing what not to do. There's enough negativity on this site and, I believe it's important to give credit where it's due. So, thank you for this tutorial. Not only has it taught me a great song, it's also made much more click in terms of linking chords and licks, if that makes sense.
    Good work, fella, and many thanks,

    Holy fuck this was amazing. There are so few brilliant musicians out there that are willing to put in the time to show us plebs how to play their songs and, therefore, it's pretty hard to advance from intermediate to pro without a teacher. You nailed this one.
    Also,I always thought you have a great personality, but was never able to prove it until now, cause I didn't see you talk in any other videos of yours.

    Lol I have to admit, your face is quite dynamic. You should consider being an extra for movies. you could be used multiple times and I bet that would return massive payola.

    This is a fine achievement in musicology. When I was studying music it was popular for students to carry around a copy of the Charlie Parker Omnibook transcriptions, or work out Hendrix solos. I haven't seen the same kind of study of the Knopfler style and this shows great discipline, attention to detail, and taste. As you say in your original clip from a few years back you wish to make it your own style, and you do indeed, perhaps adding a bit of flamenco rhythm guitar to the strumming.
