Of all the things this smart fella could be doing with his life, I am blessed by the fact he chose music. Glad he is not programming in an office somewhere.
Good grief man, you are so awesome. Thank you for having a teaching spirit. 30 years of playing and I'm still learning. Wish I had started as young as you. Love your videos, never stop.
Thank you so much for doing this Beatles arrangement in the first place as well as taking the time to go through it in detail in this video, great stuff!
Thanks Josh, Thanks for the lesson - loved the musical details associated with the song - made me want to re-listen to the song. I really enjoy all your music over the years.
I didn’t read the caption, just saw Josh’s face and clicked. So when you started the first few notes, I thought, “what a beautiful song, maybe I could learn it” Lo and behold, It’s a lesson by Josh himself!!! We are truly blessed. Your clarity, patience, inventiveness and attention to every deal are an inspiration. Thank you thank you! I think many of us would love any lessons you care to share with us. Hope you never lose this passion you have!
Who's the real genius here? The one having made it up or the one making it available for us on guitar? You shine, Josh! Love you, CU 10/12 in Amsterdam!
Bravissimo, Joshua. I was blown away by your performance and never expected that you would take the time to attempt to educate us lesser mortals on the intricacies of your excellent arrangement.
Wow, this is wonderful. Having it broken down chord by chord like this reminds me of how simply complex the arrangements are. No wonder their music is timeless.
I am so super sorry that I missed you back a while ago when you were in Atlanta. Thanks for this video. Even if I can just get some of this down to play for friends I appreciate it. Your arrangements are some of the best I have seen and heard. Thanks Josh!
Amazing! I hope you’ll do a video one day on your process of breaking down a song (like you did on this one) and how you came up with the arrangement. That would be a class in and of itself!
Yes, Josh, a public service!! That we needn’t set speed to .75X, you’re already there, with patient, independent fingers, and such a clear tenor! I say: your covers are respectful, yet you manage also to “own” each, by virtue, diligence, and no doubt affection for each. Thank you!!
No way would I ever tackle this but it's fascinating and impressive how you arranged such a tricky & unusual tune. The final play through was crazy interesting. Bravo. I have to say, those four 20-something year-old lads from Liverpool made some amazing music.
This is not by far your best cover, but you have a strange and special charisma that makes me get stuck in front of your videos. I am writing from Spain. I always that I see you I wonder how you have not become a world star. You have the talent, the image, and as said, a strange and special charisma in front of the screen that I have not seen in years. Honestly, I think you should become a star.
It just goes to show what type of genius the Beatles were (Sir George Martin included of course). Incredible, and thank you so much for the arrangement and brautiful rendition
Fantastic video even though I don’t play guitar. Still, I’ve always loved this song & I’ve always been enough of a musician to be intrigued by how you managed to put a whole orchestra in a very complicated song while still singing perfectly in tune! And now you’ve done all that while describing every difficult thing you are doing in amazing detail! Bravo! I am also very impressed by the new words & phrases I’ve learned while watching. Braining? Sinisterly psychedelic? Ffffft, fffffft! Love it!
If you haven't already, check out the short for this lesson. It's not as detailed but Josh covers all the basics of the basics. That popped up in my feed yesterday so I already knew none of this.
I love you, think your brilliant, and have been watching your career for years. Isn't there an easier arrangement than this one that doesn't require as many hoops to sound authentic and good....or is this really the ONLY way to get there?
Think I’d best enjoy your performance! This looks a bit tough in spots. Great lesson though. Better still, I’ll share this with two of my band mates, as we used to cover this.
Great job! Strawberry is on my top 3 beatles list Thought I could do maybe the intro at least but turns out I have to get a second guitar first :P To much buzz on mine
I’m not sure I will practice it. But… It’s great to hear all the care and live you put into this arrangement! Thanks so much!! Always thought those hard hitting base notes plus trills at the end were great and that Bono of U2 had adapted them for Achtung Baby
PS: always shocks me to remember that John complained that they hadn’t put enough work or polish into this song! Their arrangement is extraordinary and the tape edit magic joining two takes and two feels makes it incredibly magical. Any remaining messiness (relative to the clean Penny Lane say) just adds to the magic of it. John was so wrong there!
Josh I assume the tuning was your solution to tackle the challenges of Strawberry Fields but have you used it for anything else? It’s a great tuning and reveals some surprising qualities. It’s always a joy to be taken to somewhere new and beautiful on the guitar. Thank you.
To have composed this originally...just some lads from Liverpool with no formal music training, who had some talent, paid their dues, stuck with it, and began experimenting in the studio.
Josh Turner, you are a gift to the musicians of the world. Thank you!
Of all the things this smart fella could be doing with his life, I am blessed by the fact he chose music. Glad he is not programming in an office somewhere.
no need for him, I took that job so he can teach us guitar.
Well, the way he handles all instruments on a single guitar I'm afraid he'll take everyone's job as a programmer
This kid is AMAZING. He has grown so much within the last four or five years. He's always a pleasure to watch and hear.
Good grief man, you are so awesome. Thank you for having a teaching spirit. 30 years of playing and I'm still learning. Wish I had started as young as you. Love your videos, never stop.
Who has patience like this to explain the whole song and more… you are the man - man!
Josh you have no idea how CALMING you music and videos are. It’s like easy mindfulness or yoga with moving. Thanks dude.
We’ve been waiting forever for you to start Teaching. Good for you. All these years later and the Beatles music still reign supreme!
Josh teaching isn't new; check out his tutorials for Eleanor Rigby & Still Crazy After All These Years, they're terrific.
OMG the cord changes in this song! John and Paul were pure geniuses.
Josh ain't so shabby himself...
They both are geniuses, no doubt.
This song, purportedly, was Lennon-written.
John wrote it. But yes, they were geniuses.
What a brilliant arrangement. The attention to detail is remarkable.
love this backdrop too, it gives nostalgic school photo day vibes
Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
Thank you so much for doing this Beatles arrangement in the first place as well as taking the time to go through it in detail in this video, great stuff!

Both?
@@aumenarys Yes, why does it have to be one or the other?
Why choose?
Joshua Turner, you sir, are an absolute genius, and a very generous one at that. Thank you.
Josh this was wonderful ... I’ve lived with this song in my head all my life and it never fails to make me smile at its beauty ... nice one .
Dude I am so glad you made this tutorial!!! This is such a brilliant arrangement and that video is a piece of art
More of these please 🙌🏻

If you haven't already, check out the short for this lesson. It's not as detailed but Josh covers all the basics of the basics. That popped up in my feed yesterday so I already knew none of this.
Thank you for the lengthy lesson on a masterful arrangement! P.S. - How much longer do we have to wait to hear Allison's voice again??? 😉
I love you, think your brilliant, and have been watching your career for years. Isn't there an easier arrangement than this one that doesn't require as many hoops to sound authentic and good....or is this really the ONLY way to get there?

to retune my guitar!
How did you find the guitar tuning?
Think I’d best enjoy your performance! This looks a bit tough in spots. Great lesson though. Better still, I’ll share this with two of my band mates, as we used to cover this.

Masterclass...
Josh is finally doing some John songs! I swear almost all his covers up to this point were Paul ones 🤣
I’m not sure I will practice it. But… It’s great to hear all the care and live you put into this arrangement! Thanks so much!!

Blackwaterside next pleasseee
I don't see the link to your version.
To have composed this originally...just some lads from Liverpool with no formal music training, who had some talent, paid their dues, stuck with it, and began experimenting in the studio.
Please Josh, next summer come to the south of France...
