I had the same issue. Magpul suggests closing the case with daka blocks installed for 24 hours to let it settle. Mine looked just like that, but I forced it to close and it has settled.
Other option is to cut the floor grid out to make room for the light. You can buy replacement floor grids.

Can you flip the rifle over, position the rifle where you want it, cut or remove the bottom foam section where the light is located? I saw other videos, on this grid system, that allowed for other attachments and objects to fit.

Search for the video "Magpul - DAKA GRID - Getting the Best Fit" I dont' think i can post links in comments.
They recommend to put the gun in the middle of the case so the lid can bulge a bit. Another option is remove one of the bottom grids, and lastly cut out a relief in the grid that needs to have the flashlight in it.

magpul recommends to cut out the bottom panel so accessories can fit better by not protruding as much

But the whole point of using the daka grid was so you don’t have to cut anything.

@@pewpewlife not really u need to cut things for exact fit, they recommend that also, daka main purpose iirc is to be modular and not permanent fit for 1 gun

@@pewpewlifemore so that you dont have to custom cut a entire case and have it locked into that specific configuration.

Easy fix, I swapped the bottom foam with the top foam. Put the thicker foam part on the lid and the thinner one under the grid. Thicker foam pad on lid gives more room for accessories but still close flush on daka blocks. I have no issue yet with this fix

I have a daka grid for my pelican 1720, and I have a light and laser mounted on my rifles. It was a very tight fit, but it still works. I have to remove the bottom foam layer in order to close the case flush. I just don't understand why Magpul doesn't take our concerns with certain attachments via lights and lasers on our guns into consideration before they created the product in the first place?

I would say just cut out about 3 blocks of the base layer. You can then flip it or move the bottom piece to a different area if you have a different rifle with a light in a different location. The bottom layers are in four pieces,I would cut one of the two center pieces then flip and switch it as needed for a different light setup.

Well one answer would be to have some foam inserts to use among the pods it seems like your trying to put the lights towards the thinnest foam on top of the case.

I carved out a space for the light in the lower material. Dropped the offset out of the equation. Fit like a glove.

I wonder if they didnt consider it for the Vault/Air cases having a shallower lid vs the iM-Series (Storm)?

Wolf A1, T91 copy is what that other upper is. Remove light or flip gun and cut out grid to fit light.

Maybe cut the grid to fit?

Daka grid won’t work for bolt guns that have scopes with large turrets either. Any turret that’s over 1/2 and the case won’t close properly.

I'm not sure how this is the daka grid problem. Maybe you could just remove the light and secure it in the grid.

Flip the rifle and cut out part of the grid so the flashlight fits

Just take the light off when traveling and reinstall at the range. You're never going to employ that gun in a contested environment anyway, so why have a light always on the gun? It's just an expensive waste of gear. Plus you don't have enough training, or resources to be effective in an austere environment. Just stick to wasting your time an money hole punching paper on a square range in daylight when everything's nice and comfortable because that will prepare you for conflict. Problem solved.

People like this shouldn't own a gun. To go through all the trouble to make this video when all he has to do is unclip his side-mounted light is just crazy.

So what do you do when you have a laser unit and a light? Do you unscrew the mlok light every single time you want to take it out or put it in a case?

@@NationalPbLeaguetaking off a laser is a no go. The laser also had to be zeroed and for professional use its a big no go to take it off. You would have to reconfirm zero. Thank you for your unit but this dude is showing a flaw with the daka .

    • @NationalPbLeague
      @NationalPbLeague 4 місяці тому +1

@@usmc4eternitey your fight is over. Watch the video. The side mounted flashlight is the problem. If you look at the front view of the rifle when he shows it you can see that the laser is nearly parallel with the front handguard and the side mounted flashlight appears to be the problem and he says the flashlight is the problem not the laser.
So we don't need to take the laser off negating all of your reasoning for zeroing he just needs to take the flashlight off and unless that giant freaking flashlight is a 2 MOA flashlight which is unheard of. Then all he has to do is take the flashlight off or just go back to the beginning and delete this video.
