Special thanks to our friends at Quiet Riot Firearms in McDonough, GA for providing the M16 lower for this video. In this Meltdown, we take an entry level upper from Palmetto State Armory and shoot it full auto until failure. It's very interesting to see how various levels of quality in the components really make a difference in these tests. Stay Tuned, much more on the way.

I understand, but these are not machine guns...full auto yes, but they are fired in bursts, not long continuous full auto fire. I know many vets and active military members and while the idea of full auto sounds good and fun, which it is on the range, is not much if any advantage on the battlefield. There is a reason why they train Marines in marksmanship, an accurate shot is far more effective than just sending 20 rounds down range and hoping for a good hit, if that makes sense. The full auto feature definitely has it's place, but it's one of the options and not the only option for a reason.

I was actually surprised the one in this video wasn't an M&P Sport upper. I'd love to see them melt one down though and see how it compares. Maybe run it side by side against the Ruger 5.56 budget AR upper.

I appreciate your objectivity on this. You're right, this is for the person who wants an AR platform, but isn't expecting to defend his town against the DPRK Airborne dropping in over his backwater town, or the Irani amphibious landings on the Outer Banks. These, along with your DPMS, M&Ps, Andersons are not just "entry" level. They are good enough for those of us who shoot paper, hunt, etc. You know. The average American. Sure. When it comes to shotguns...my Mossy and 870 seems like crap to the high level competition shooter with a Purdy and Son. But, it's what I can afford and what I use. The same goes for the High Point haters. I'd rather have a HP owner who knows his firearm, goes to the range and can hit his target consistently as apposed to some fanboy with a Glock who just...has a Glock. Just my 2 cents.

Very well said, I have a couple Hi Point 995 carbines that I will never part with. Picked them up just to toy around in a trade and fell in love with the pieces of junk! Super accurate out to 100 yards and just put a smile on my face shooting them. I really love it when something 'Low Price' exceeds expectations, and when it's truly enjoyable screw what anybody else says!

A meltdown of a 20" hbar m16a2/a3 would be an interesting test. The gas system bleeds off farther down the barrel and dwell timing would be better. I think it would last a fair time

Just fyi the PSA gun has a FN barrel that is to mil spec. Because I'm the quality tech at fn that makes the barrels for them and that is the same barrel that the military gets in a m4 m16. Good vids!

cameron felkel so does this mean that FN makes a higher quality barrel with better materials for FN? & then makes a standard mil spec low quality barrel for psa?
