    You legend!!! You’ve just resurrected my old NAD amp that’s been in the loft for 25 year!!! It’s getting a new lease of life powering some ceiling speaker.
    So happy. Love my old amp. Thanks.

    Thankyou so much mate. I tried just turning power off to the speaker and twisting the volume knob left and right for a couple of seconds and after a couple gos at that it was enough to totally fix it. I have been living with it like that for years I don’t know why I didn’t search for a fix sooner. Made my day!

    thank you soo much.
    the volume wheel in my headset was bothering me for months.
    I thought it had to do with loose contact so I resoldered it twice!
    after watching this video I just sprayed some alcohol in it & spun it back & forth for a few seconds, it was fixed!

    Wow, very impressive video. The spray really seems to work wonders.
    So a about 6 months ago I purchased a THX AAA 789 and for a few months now I've been getting crackling and static whenever I adjust the volume knob. The general audio quality is still fine but It's always been extremely annoying. I guess I'll give this a try with the unit turned off as I've never worked with audio equipment internals before. Anyways, thanks for the guide!

    What does it mean when you have to repeatedly keep using contact cleaner? I have a receiver that worked perfectly after doing this, but the problems with the mail volume knob (crackling and just plain not working) keep coming back a couple of weeks after cleaning! I suppose it means that I've got a worse issue.

    If you do not have the spray. Just turn the knob back and forth in a rapid fire movement like 50 times. This removes the oxidation off the contacts and may reduce or eliminate the scratchy noise.

    • @ecologicaltime
      @ecologicaltime  2 роки тому +5

      Scratchy noise will return after a short time.

  • @tlita93
    @tlita93 Рік тому

    You didn't wait for the Kontakt 60 to dry out completely? I mean, at least for me, it's all over the PCB below some bass/treble/center nobs so I'm worried it may short something out.. But that Kontakt 60 is not conductive or? I dried it out a little bit with a hair drier hah
    Thanks and cheers 🙂

    • @ecologicaltime

      you dont need to dry it out unless there is risk of high voltage. For small electronics its fine if its wet.

    I had the same problem in an integrated amplifier's attenuator in 1978 and now I'm having the same problem in an audio interface I got in 2018, so almost 45 years go by and the idea of a self cleaning potentiometer still manages to elude manufacturers....why is that.
