You legend!!! You’ve just resurrected my old NAD amp that’s been in the loft for 25 year!!! It’s getting a new lease of life powering some ceiling speaker. So happy. Love my old amp. Thanks.
Thankyou so much mate. I tried just turning power off to the speaker and twisting the volume knob left and right for a couple of seconds and after a couple gos at that it was enough to totally fix it. I have been living with it like that for years I don’t know why I didn’t search for a fix sooner. Made my day!
omg its just my right tweeter i un plugged my focusrite and cranked the volume a bunch down and up then plugged it back in now its not making that noise WTFFFFFF
thank you soo much. the volume wheel in my headset was bothering me for months. I thought it had to do with loose contact so I resoldered it twice! after watching this video I just sprayed some alcohol in it & spun it back & forth for a few seconds, it was fixed!
Wow, very impressive video. The spray really seems to work wonders. So a about 6 months ago I purchased a THX AAA 789 and for a few months now I've been getting crackling and static whenever I adjust the volume knob. The general audio quality is still fine but It's always been extremely annoying. I guess I'll give this a try with the unit turned off as I've never worked with audio equipment internals before. Anyways, thanks for the guide!
Ok so I'm going to be honest. I watched your video and thought "Well that's never going to solve my problem." But I tried it anyway and you know what? THAT. SHIT. WORKED! So thank you and consider me subscribed!
What does it mean when you have to repeatedly keep using contact cleaner? I have a receiver that worked perfectly after doing this, but the problems with the mail volume knob (crackling and just plain not working) keep coming back a couple of weeks after cleaning! I suppose it means that I've got a worse issue.
Haha I have the same symptoms in two separate speakers in my car stereo. After swapping the amp and the head-unit I've been dreading having to chase down shorts and replacing the wires through the cabin. Fingers crossed a good cleaning works out!
If you do not have the spray. Just turn the knob back and forth in a rapid fire movement like 50 times. This removes the oxidation off the contacts and may reduce or eliminate the scratchy noise.
Hi, thank you for the video, may I know if this troubleshooting solution can be applied to digital piano as well? My piano has a loud crackling sound whenever I rotate the volume control.
Hey? What if you have a similar crackle/popping at zero volume and without moving the volume knob? I’ve used contact cleaner on all connections but I’ve not had any luck. Any ideas as to what it could be?
I have a piece of shiet radio that when on blue tooth mode works fine but on radio mode moving the volume knob just a milimiter causes it to go to 100%, it's super annoying. What's going on? could it be a software problem?
You didn't wait for the Kontakt 60 to dry out completely? I mean, at least for me, it's all over the PCB below some bass/treble/center nobs so I'm worried it may short something out.. But that Kontakt 60 is not conductive or? I dried it out a little bit with a hair drier hah Thanks and cheers 🙂
I had the same problem in an integrated amplifier's attenuator in 1978 and now I'm having the same problem in an audio interface I got in 2018, so almost 45 years go by and the idea of a self cleaning potentiometer still manages to elude manufacturers....why is that.
i have same issue in my windows 10 pc, when i slide volume up and down specially in browser i get that annoying sound everywhere youtube, Spotify or any other streaming server and even opening program i get that sound also, when i listen music if there are sudden instrument like piano it also cause this crackling sound like speaker blast already, try different headphone, earphone same issue, try with a dac and also with on board audio it even cause more idk why, im at this moment out of clue, please help
what article was that? do you have a link. Been using this product for more than 20 years. The only problem i found is that the spray can loses pressure when stored.
Thank you, I just cleaned
the contacts on my old
Yorkville bass amp, no more crackling, just like new again. Keep up the goog work!

Thank you so much for this. Just got a Pioneer SX3400 which had this exact problem. 4 bucks for some contact cleaner and its as good as new!!

I just fixed my LIne 6 UX2 using this method. Thanks so much!!
Thanks in advance just got a Nad 302 with a crackly volume. ❤❤❤ Edit that can of contact cleaner has lasted a long time 25 years 😅😅 bless
Thanks you brother.. Will isopropyl alcohol or WD40 do the work if I don't have a contact cleaner at hand?
Thank you very much. Is that the same as electrical cleaner spray? Or what other products can we use for cleaning
thanks, yes its an electrical cleaner spray
Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for.
Hello great video, can I use this without removing the volume switch, and how long does it take to dry before I can power back on
Mega, nice easy instructions. I will now fix my crackling sound 👍
Great guide, thanks! Although I only get the crackling when the sound is playing and im turning it up and down?

Worked on my amp too - thank you!
Thanks, exactly what I needed to know. Very well demonstrated and explained.

Did it work?
Thank you very much! It worked for me no more crackling
Im gonna use it in my focusrite audio interface , ive had this usse for a while now!!
Nice video, thank you. Sorry to see a nice NAD amp wasted on those crappy Bose speakers though.
Thank you very much for this brother 🥰🥰 I'll fix my piano
Great video. Is kontact 60 similar to de oxit
Good video. I'm going to try it on my studio speakers.

Scratchy noise will return after a short time.
@@ecologicaltime So how do you fix, if you don't want to buy contact cleaner?
You Can't@@currentresident7760
Omg this actually work on an old boombox!
After cleaning with the contact cleaner, should we be using Faderlube in the volume knob?
can i clean a switch like that?
What makes a volume control cut out on only one side? Thanks
Hi i have a Motion Sound amp it also makes crackling sound. can I use W40 to clean the knobs?
Hi, thank you for the video, may I know if this troubleshooting solution can be applied to digital piano as well? My piano has a loud crackling sound whenever I rotate the volume control.
Yes it will fix it

Thank you for the info! Get to the choppah!!!
A very informative tutorial - Thank you !

Thank you for the video. Very helpful.
Where do you buy Kontakt in the USA?

you dont need to dry it out unless there is risk of high voltage. For small electronics its fine if its wet.
Thank you so much sir

A German product not available in USA. But a great idea thanks.
Thank you!
thanks so much......
thank you 👍👍
Can I use WD-40?
no, that is oil
this spray is quite aggressive to potentiometers, just use a few drops of natural ballistol oil
definitely don't agree. Been using this spray for more than 20 years and never had any issues you describe.
D40 also works
my computer does this :( even with spotify volume please help me its ruining me
No you should not use Kontakt 60 it will oxidize! Clean out the dust, use Kontakt WL on the potentiometer than Kontakt 61.
Does wd40 work for this?
not recommended
WARNING: Never use WD40.
This; WD40 is a solvent, not a deoxidizer/lubricant.
I just placed an order for some WD40 contact cleaner. Lot cheaper than Deoxit
Why not wd40
It's for hinges, not for delicate electronics @@johndoe3582

Clean my zenith stop working see if it air-dry will revive
I have a pair of nads, but no air canister, I will get my wife to pick up a can SOS she can slow my nads later.
I Read that kontakt 60 is too aggressive for pots

Teslanol T6 Oszillin is much better.
Amazing thank you!!!
