I think it is because he is based in Asia (Taipei Taiwan), big brands only cares about western market and western influencers. The reason why I think like that it is because Im currently living in Asia as well, there are so many running/running gears content creators here with huge audience but they never had anything for free for review from big brands, if you want something, buy it))) same thing in Russia/CIS countries, if you want to make a review you should buy it with you own money. I don't know but I believe that if Chris was based in USA or UK/EU, he will get gears for free cause his content is superb
I think it is related to the country too: we are getting crap products in Romania from some big brands. Sagasu speaks his mind without other influences. It is very important. I saw some very "impartial" crap from big names in the review industry so I really really appreciate the few that do not receive / accept products and still make the reviews.
@Anatoly_Tsvetkov Partly… but I am not part of the Asian influencer world. I’m very much a US creator who lives abroad. It’s more about reach and who will support/back you (put in a good word for you with a brand) to open doors. If trying to build the relationships with brands via my content and editorial voice…. Not any other way.
@@SagasuRunning Your channel has grown really quickly in the last few months, but it's early days. I'm sure if the subscriber count keeps going the way it's going you'll start getting pinged.
You know when a shoe embargo lifts when you wake up and your YT notifications are flooded with AP4 reviews. Didn't watch any of them. This is the only review I wanted to watch. And it delivered, as always. Since you and I spoke of the AP4 months ago, this is the only shoe I've been waiting for this year. As far as the EVO SL, a non-plated up-tempo trainer as a training partner for the AP4? Yes, please. Thanks, Chris.
Both of these shoes are yes please…. I really like the direction Adidas is heading with Adizero. I look forward to actually reviewing this when I can get a pair.
I'm loving the professionalism, marketing and development slant you take sir. Keep up the good work. I'm a Vapourfly/Nike guy. Adidas feel dead, and unresponsive to me. I may try the Evo SL, as the pride is acceptable.
Thank you for the kind words. I too am mostly a Nike guy but I love Adidas for how opposite they are form Nike. Total antithesis to Nike. The Evo SL maybe be a good one to try the brand again. I’d also recommend the Adisore SL2, it’s quite good.
Nike seems dead. Zero innovation. Zoomx is overhyped. I really don't get the hype about VFs. I had to sell my VF 3 because the foam felt like running on cardboards. Literally. I'm an average runner and appreciate that my experience might be different for those able to run 3:30\km or 5:30/mile but from my perspective Saucony, Asics, New Balance superfoams are way better than Nike's.
I am glad to see Adidas put the price of this at 150$ and undercut some of the other performance trainers. Bogles my mind how Brooks gets away with charging 200$ for shoes like the less versatile glycerin max or 250$ for the hyperion elite 4. The hyperion max 2 even seems a little overpriced to me compared to its peers in that group.
Fully agree, adidas and Nike are the only two brands that can undercut since their main business isn’t centered around “running shoes”. Turning less profit on a specific running shoe isn’t as impactful compared to a Brookes or Hoka. Adidas is definitely trying to squeeze the other brands
I'll always reference or link source material on this channel. The BITR podcast was great, well worth a listen for those curious about the workings of shoe design and production.
Finally, after been a while from running due to injury , try to not watched any running content so much although i did have some impulse.. As always it was a good breakdown! I will keep on banking miles on my AP3 and other adidas line up and will definitely get this two. Will be smart not to purchase until all my adidas line up hits 700km or 800km, but who knows, this is so good to try on. Adidas is one of the brand that speaks to me in terms of designs and aesthetics, however the performance is great too, when I tried on my adidas shoes after a while, the feeling of "ahhh" is there. If thats what a shoe does , then it speaks volume on the brand itself! Happy to be back and banking miles although imma start slowly.
@io-rj6sk I posted this on Reddit earlier today to the same question; The Evo SL is a trainer, with a LSP formula more like the current LSP. The Adios 9 is a racer with (I expect, not confirmed) the new LSP formula found in the AP4 and the new CPU Lighttraxion outsole. Yes both have a midfoot shank, but I suspect they differ in their design. Adidas often can’t help themselves with midfoot shanks and rarely are the only in the midfoot. Theoretically the Evo SL needs smaller one than the Adios 9, due to the stack height, but we don’t know…. And won’t know until we see exploded views from Adidas or someone cuts them apart in review. The fit should be considerably different too. The Adios 9 should fit similar to the AP4, in the last used and upper, a race fit. While the Evo SL should be closer to the Adizero SL2 in a more accommodating training fit. Lastly, the difference in feel under foot will be noticeable. The Evo SL, with the B12 like Conti forefoot rubber patch will feel very familiar. While the Adios 9, with the CPU outsole is going to feel very compliant and soft on the ground, almost like a shoe with no outsole and a rubberized foam… that’s how CPU outsoles feel. Think of the Evo SL as a plateless (rodless) Boston 12 and the Adios 9 as a return to the true racing flat roots of the Adios, likely closer to the Nike Streakfly, oddly enough.
Good video man! These new adidas shoes look interesting and promising. Looking forward to seeing reviews when you receive the Evo SL and Adios Pro 4! Evo SL looks like it will compare to Superblast 1/2, but be a softer alternative (not sure which out of Adi vs ASICS will provide more bounce and energy return). The strangest thing adi did was bring this out just after the release of the SL2, because this shoe looks so similar to that but probably better in every way!😂
Ya, Adidas is making some odd moves with their lineup. The SL2 to SL distinction makes sense on paper but in reality we will see. Early reviews seem to say the Evo SL is a better SL2 for more runners… Thank you for the kind words on the content and for watching. 🤙🏻
Kudos to Adidas for bucking the market trend where a ~$200 price point seemed to be a major driving characteristic of a “performance trainer”by the brands. Producing shoe where performance characteristics are at the forefront for the brand, and not having a shoe to slot into the $200 category? Amazing. And thank you.
Good job Adidas with the new shoes ! I can see this Evo SL making other brands to finally start ( or launch sooner) working with their best racing foams to fight back in this new category ( premium best foam) in an almost daily trainer/ racing shoes.
Nike has already launched this category with the Pegasus Plus. Non plated, full top tier super foam, performance trainer. Adidas is joining the conversation with the Evo SL. I'm sure we will see other brands follow suit.
@@SagasuRunning but remember, the Nike Pegasus Plus is a 180 dollars while the Evo SL is expected to cost a low as 140 dollars. Nike will need to make a cheaper and more responsive Streakfky to compete and other brands will have to rethink their strategies ... like Asics with the Magic Speed 4 for 160 bucks and only using a tinny layer of Turbo, not even Turbo plus foam. I expect 2025 to be amazing for that price range if 140-150 bucks with shoes using super foam in all the middlesole, competing with old stuff that cost the same, today, like the Gel-Cumulus, Pegasus , Nova Blast or a Saucony Ride.
@MiracleWarriors I’m going to be totally honest… I rarely look at price and it’s never a factor on a shoe choice for me. I realize this view is not what everyone has. I go for performance or solving a specific use case first. On top of that, $20-30 USD is splitting hairs to me. $150 vs $180 is the same IMO. $100 vs $250 differs (obviously) but even then if the shoe that has better performance and/or solves my use case better is more expensive…. So be it. That being said… I am looking at a few shoes right now, on the lower end of the price range, that can tick a lot of boxes. It’s less about cost to me and more about doing more with less. Maybe some content coming on this soon.
My initial run in the Pro 4 is a 10km race and it performed really well. The ride is softer and the new geometry makes it a little more propulsive than the Pro 3. The upper is way better. The outsole grip is really good. It was a really rainy race and I did not slip at all in the corners. I'm also interested with the Evo SL. I have no idea how LSP will feel without any kind of rods in it. It will be the rival of the Pegasus Plus in my opinion.
Good to know the grip is there in the wet. CPU outsoles are good in wet, but can be noisy. Yes, the Evo SL really only has one competitor (at the moment, I expect more in 2025)...the Peg Plus. LSP with no stiffening agent should be amazing...what a lot of us have been waiting years for.
I really like your content for that they fill up the void in the english speaking running gear review channel, where a lot of creators tend to give opinions based on only the reviewing product itself. As a chinese speaking person I've seen more different video content comparing products from a product matrix perspective/from the brand's historical product but not much were seen from my limited exposure to english content. You have done a great job in that particular matter by reviewing products and predicting trends from a more holistic and longitudinal perspective. Keep up the good work. I'd also like to hear a bit more from you on what the next boston could become. I'm a big fan of the boston 12 and had put off some good miles in my pair. My initial thought on the sl was also on how similar it seems to the current boston. I wonder if the next boston is going back to something more capable for race and less of a trainer, but then the problem arise on where it sits in the stacked racing product lineup (takumi sen, pro4, evo...)
I appreciate the kind words. I do watch a lot of Japanese and Taiwanese content, that must have also influenced me indirectly. It is more how I think as a product designer...I need to understand the Macro to get into the micro...and I find the stories involved interesting to share. As for the future of the Boston. Well, base don the comments of this video I think it's one of two things; 1). The Boston turns into a max stack plated (rods) Superblast like shoe 2). The Boston moves down market and becomes a budget racing option The Evo SL likely replaces the role the Boston had for many runners and Adidas doesn't need ANOTHER race shoe (Evo 1, AP4, TS10, A9) plus there are no gaps there anymore other than price.
The upper update is enough for me to go get a pair when they release, and I’m really curious about the Evo SL.. I think we all agree that we need your review on both of this shoes!
That was quick. excellent analysis. that outsole on the evo sl looks just like the boston 12. maybe the boston 13 will just be an upper update like the 10/11 was. both can coexist if the boston is the more stable, yet heavier slightly firmer perfomance trainer/ marathon race option.
The EVO SL looks really interesting. The Adizero SL2 is my favorite shoe this year, even over more expensive shoes. I thought about a wishlist of how they could improve it for the next version and they've exceeded my expectations and kept the price down. I can't imagine how this shoe won't kill some $180-$200 models. I also like that it doesn't have a full plate; just enough stiffness to create some stability.
Ya, it's going to be a great one given it's specs. We needs some reviews of it, which should come out next week post Berlin...but it definitely ticks a ton of boxes and punches way above it's weight.
I thought it was interesting during the Believe podcast when Thomas hinted that the EVO SL might also be a lifestyle shoe. EddBud recently made a video where he showed a picture of an EVO 1 being worn by a celebrity during a fashion show too. I think the EVO SL looks great, especially with the toned down looks and simplified ankle area (no floppy pull tab), but it should also be a great running shoe. Best of both worlds.
There is a disconnect in the Evo SL marketing. It’s being marketed as a “fast lifestyle” shoe, for training and fast life. It’s a bit cheesy. Patrick on the brother and is very adamant it is a performance trainer. The tech looks correct. The marketing is odd. The press pack for the Evo SL is only lifestyle shots as well.
Fantastic video as always. Adidas are shaping up to have a two sets of complementary training and racing companions in Adios/Takumi Sen and Evo SL/Adios Pro. Opportunities to mix n match too, say if you just wanted to train and race in non plated and/or plated shoes. Have to say as a big fan of the Adios 8 can’t wait to see what the 9 is packing.
Yup. I am interested in the TS11 update Patrick Nava alluded too. I'm wondering if that shoe stays in the same range (5-10k)... The Adios 9 is going to be a killer workout shoe, intervals and race flat. I am also a big fan of the Adios 8, but once I got it over about 225km the torsion system became much more present as the foams broke down and softened up. I didn't love that. Still love the shoe, but preferred it when it was fresher. The A9 seems to fix this problem.
@@SagasuRunningi’ll be interested to see if i start noticing that on my pair of 8s. Not quite there yet. I remember you pointed me in the direction of a video of yours where you (if I remember correctly) had spoken to an Adidas supplier who said that the foam in the Evo Pro was PEBA based, but was Patrick Nava in the BITR interview saying that it is TPEE too?
Yes, I caught Patrick’s comment too on the foams. What he said, about the older red AP4 from TRE last year, was that the two foams are “chemically the same”. Now my understanding of PEBA is that it is a type of TPE foam. Which saying a PEBA and TPEe foam are chemically the same… as both TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomers) is correct…. However the structure of the foams are very different. My understanding of the chemistry may be wrong though. Maybe someone can add detail about it to this comment?
The Evo 1 launched the focus on weight, which is what the Chinese running brands are all building promotional prototypes to get under 100g. The hyper shoe category was launched by the Prime X... Puma added fuel to the fire with the Fast RB...
Awesome news. I bought the Puma Elite 3 instead of the Adidas Pro 3, for it’s superior upper for my last Half a few weeks ago. I just didn’t trust my Boston 12 for that distance and intensity. I would have bought the Pro 4 if it would have been available, but I’m super happy with the Elite 3 🙌🏾
The EVO SL is probably my pick . My pro 3 just won't die , and my Takumi8 is getting there (the durability is just awesome) . The SL has an attractive price, no plate (starting to enjoy plate less again) , plush-ish upper , and (200 in sample size) probably 215-225 g in my size (10-10.5 depending on fit) .
Adidas may have introduced and market the EVO SL as a light daily tempo trainer. (to go against Mach 6 and Rebel V4) In doing so, the next-gen of Boston series may evolved and create an identity of being a max-stacked daily trainers or an upgraded tank supershoe (Going against the likes of Skyward X, SC Trainer, Superblast ) While Adios Pro 4 retaining its role in the lineup. (race day shoe)
I wasn't thinking this at all, until the comment sin this video and now I have to agree. I do think the B13 is going to gain a "max" designation, which is rather sad as that will definitely be the end of the line with the Boston and me...
It sounds like a real update. My main interest is the grip though, because we have a lot of surfaces here, that are pretty greasy when wet. The AP3 is fantastic, but the PX2S struggles a bit sometimes...
CPU outsoles won’t be as good as Conti but they are very good. I have a shoe with a CPU outsole (Mount to Coat R1) and it’s great on all surfaces, including all the wet slimy surfaces we have here in Taipei. Conti is better…. But CPU is close…
I missed the EVO SL news! I'll have to listen to the BitR podcast. If the EVO SL is the performance trainer equivalent to the Peg Plus, I'm a bit at a loss where that leaves something like the Adios 9. I may have to consider the EVO SL as the performance trainer between my Rise and AP3.🤔
@@SagasuRunning Looks like the Evo SL will be more suitable for pronators, even mild ones, than the SL2, so good news for me.😊 In less good news, drew first blood today on the AP3 doing a tempo/threshold workout. Left foot ring toe, didn't even notice until I took off my shoes. Fortunately, I have scheduled a couple of easy runs next. It'd better not be a sign 'cause I'm eager to run that 5k next week.
I have a sneaky feeling that I’ll be buying the Adios 9 and the EVO SL in December when they are officially released. I am really intrigued to see how the EVO SL runs and the versatility it will have. Running Warehouse has a black version posted on their site that looks incredible. I wonder if the Boston 13 will get a reduced stack height, similar to where the Takumi Sen is. If that’s the case, the Boston could be the new performance trainer for the Sen series. I appreciate the deep dive and really looking forward to trying the EVO SL and Adios 9.
Even though I'm a #allblackeverything type of guy....I actually don't like all black running shoes. But all white running shoes are my thing...the white Evo 1 and now Evo SL are stunning. Though that all black one has OG Samba vibes which is VERY three stripes. Based ont eh conversation int he comments on this video I'm leaning two directions with where the Boston is headed in 2025: 1). A Superblast like shoe 2). A true budget marathon shoe. Once we have official word/photos/info on the Adios 9 I'm diving deep. Cannot wait to finally talk about that one at length. I have many thoughts...
@@SagasuRunning I go through phases on the look of my shoes. For a while, it was mainly blacks and greys (neutral). Now, I have a rotation filled with a variety of colors with some all white shoes mixed in. There is something classic about the Samba colorway and the black EVO SL looks super clean. I can’t wait for your reviews on the Adios 9 as we’ve been talking about it for a long time now. Your videos on the Adios 8 and the Supernova Rise convinced me to try both of those shoes. They’ve exceeded all expectations. Adidas is killing it with their lineup.
@mattbeier Ya, I have a range of colors. I do buy black uppers with white midsoles on shoes I know I’ll be spending a lot of time in, usually in rain here in Taipei. They just get gross looking less fast. Otherwise I go with the best launch cooor way or white for most shoes now. The Samba is just a classic regardless. I’ve been wearing a pair of white Sambas this summer, my first pair in about 30 years, and I love them… especially once they broke in. I got them in white because of the Evo 1 😂…. But I’m also impressed with the quality of the shoe. Old school lifestyle shoes form big brands tend to be made as cheap as cheap gets… but the Sambas are decent, compared to alternatives. I can’t wait to get into the A9 and review it. I have so much content planned around that shoe right now…. I just need to get a pair!
I've always considered the EVO line to be kind of like a "prototype" line. With how the Adios Pro 4 currently looks like, in retrospect I would think of AP Evo 1 as its prototype. Adidas even mentioned the AP4 as "inspired" by the Evo 1, so it kinda makes sense, don't you think? In that regard I would also think of the Evo SL as the prototype for Boston 13. But I would expect some changes depending on the feedback from the Evo SL.
I agree on the AP4. It’s very clear. Adidas stated last year that “Evo = Evolution” and the Evo signified a step forward for them. They is where the Evo SL naming is a little odd to me given what the shoe is, Boston would have made more sense, but I’m going with it. The Boston 13 is mostly cooked at this point. No real learnings form the Evo SL, post release will make its way into the shoe. That’s how development and production timelines work. No doubt the Evo SL and B13 were developed together… but if the B13 is releasing next spring/early summer…. The overall design is locked for the shoe at this point.
This is Adidas year for sure after being quiet for some time. This is a massive change in Adizero, but this will definitely bring many customers back to Adidas, which probably left for Asics, Saucony, Hoka...etc. Of all the shoe so far, I agree with you, Evo Sl is the one I am most interested in, especially for the price. Evo Sl feels to me almost trying to win customers who went for Superblast. Anyway, whatever it is, they have a great lineup and pricepoint.
Less Superblast, more Endorphin Speed 4 or even the Rebel v4 or Mach 6. Right now, on paper, the Adistar BYD is Adidas Superblast, or the Prime X is depending on how you see it. I do expect them adjust something and make a direct competitor to the Superblast. Nike has, Adidas will follow suit, we will see more of these shoes. The Adistar BYD isn't quite it. But yes, the Evo SL is exciting.
@SagasuRunning I would be interested once I get my hand on evo sl if it is a super trainer buy lower stack. For those who like superblast but doesn't need max stack. Anyway another great video again in short time
It should tick that box. I hadn’t considered that. You are right… it’s not directly comparable to the Superblast… but it’s a lower stack non plated option. Thought eh Nike Peg Plus is already there. The NB Rebel v4 and Hoka Mach 6 don’t count here as they aren’t a top tier super foam.
In the AP4 we have seen: The white/red one, Red/yellow, Blue/yellow and all black version in leaks so far. The Evo SL has a: All white, all black and white/red seen in leaks. No doubt there will be MANY MANy more colorways over the lifespan of both shoes.
The Evo SL will also have a short nylon shank so probably more comparable to the original streakfly than Peg Plus tbh. You should watch RW's Evo SL video
"Short" and "shank" for Adidas means something very different than it does for Nike. We shall see what is actually in there. I hope they release an exploded view of the shoe...but someone will cut it open at some point.
I kinda hate the trend when the NAME of top tier racing foams are used to non-race day shoe but has DIFFERENT composition. Like its "Light Strike PRO" but a bit different.. Like in Pegasus Plus its Zoom X but it has a bit of different compound to make it more resilient. Or in Nike Pegasus Next Nature it has a Zoom X branding on the shoe itself but its on a carrier foam only. For me if the composition of the racing foam is different, it should be called something else and dont use the top tier name for marketing purposes. Its kinda false advertising for me if I buy a non-racing shoe with Zoom X then only to find out that its not in the actual Vaporfly or Alphafly. Like call it different - Coke, Coke Diet, Coke Zero - all are Coke but with different compositions Anyway I'm excited for Adios Pro 4! This might be my next race day shoe. As always superb video and details! 👏 Adidas and most especially Nike should be giving you new shoes for review and do a design analysis. Helps their marketing.
From the brand perspective the product name for the foam references a type of feel they are trying to get...meaning resiliency for a super foam. They are balancing the needs of the shoe for resiliency with durability (in training context especially) and cost in some areas as well. I agree it is frustrating. I don't mind the foams being tweaked for specific shoes and given the same product name....but I do with the brands would be clear as to what the compositions actually are. I hate that it is a guessing game for someone like me trying to communicate the subtle product changes between all of these products, even in the same line. Beyond my unique issue I think it's important for the consumer to know as well, granted 90% won't care...but those who do REALLY will. I also get that some of the foam tech is proprietary and the brand doesn't want to share...however, all important shoes, will be cut apart and lab tested but competitors and the chemical makeup of the foams will be very clear immediately. So there really is not hiding things. I do wish ALL brands would be more transparent with product specs and materials. A big part of what I ultimately want to do on this channel is build those relationships with product line managers and product teams to be able to tell these product stories directly from the source. I'm working on that daily. I appreciate the comment and the support... thank you, thank you. 🙏🏻
Lightweight shoes with racing foam and the plastic shanks to provide some rigidity in the mid foot, for me it sounds like streakfly with a higher stack height 🤔
I think AP4 is a nice evolution of AP3. If the outsole is like the plasticy piece with Adizero written in AP3. I think it is also similar to the outsole of Supernova Prima. Either way, I expect that outsole is to be pretty durable and personally would welcome it. Like you I am actually more excited for Evo SL. It seems to be what I had been wishing for a while (Takumi Sen with more durability for training purposes) and if the price circulated ($150) holds it will give be grabbing quite a bit of market share from the competition. But like you, I suspect this will complicate the existence of Boston lineup and how it might evolve if Evo SL is to stay around.
The outsole material on the AP4 is very different that plasticy piece on the heel of the AP3. Much softer, my compliant and grippy. You'll see. I've actually been wanting a Boston 12, with no rods, thus much more flexible but with the same outsole feel. That seems to be the Evo SL. The Evo SL does complicate the use case for the B12, a bit... but most people will be likely be better off in the Evo SL. As for the future of the Boston...it seems like an evolution is going to happen as the Evo SL basically took it's slot.
@@SagasuRunning Thanks for the reply. I am also interested how Adios 9 will be. You and I had a conversation on Adios 9 getting full length LSP and I am feeling that EVO SL might be intruding into its used cases as well.
@@TolunayOrkun They definitely will be. Though the fit/feel of the two will different alot, one is a trainer and one is a racer. I do think the A9 will directly replace the TS10 in most use cases.
@@SagasuRunning Sometimes the trainer is so good that people prefer it over the racer counterpart. For example, for example Endorphin Speed OG and Endorphin Pro OG. There was an overwhelming preference towards Speed in that case and it only changed with v3. Anyway, it seems like right now Adidas is in a transitionary period in its product portfolio and it will take a couple of years to settle.
@TolunayOrkun We shall see once the shoes are widely available and more can run in them. On paper both should be very good. Agree Adidas is in a transition… but I think the majority will be clear next year. 2025 seems like a big year for the Adizero line.
Great review, Pro 4 is very interesting. The soft midsole sound like the new midsole in the Endorphin Elite 2? After running in the Noosa 15 and Adidas SL2 I came to the conclusion that I am to old for shoes that don't help me move forward.. Adidas Pro 3 is a life saver.. Cielo X1 is amazing.. Hoka Mach X2.. Basically extreme rocker and bouncy foam for anyone over 60 😂😂😂.
I don't think so. I think its going to feel more like PWRRUN HG, with the fast resiliency of LSP, but also maybe not that drastic (it is still LSP afterall). other than that I can't think of a good analog of current super foams for what Adidas is saying. I do look forward to having it on my feet.
If the Evo SL is the shoe I think it will be, Adidas just cut my road AND trail shoe quiver in half, as the SL will be great for my local fireroads. And heck, if they're that good, I'll see about getting a pair resoled with Vibram Litebase for the more techy gnar of my local singletrack. I'm thinking Adidas AP3 or AP4 for fast longer runs, Takumi Sen for speed work, and Evo SL for filler runs. And on trail, I'm looking at Hoka Tecton X-3 for true mountain runs (talking Sierra Nevada here) and PR attempts, Terrex Speed Trails for dedicated speed work and maybe, just maybe, the Evo SL for fireroad filler runs and non-technical SoCal singletrack. Hope I'm not jumping the gun here, but TY Adidas! And sooooooo long Altra, it's been fun. Fix your durability issues...
The Evo SL with Megagrip Litebase....🤯. Why not go all in though and try a AP3 with the same resole. Granted you alreayd have the Terrax options... but still.
We shall see. Nike has some great options right now and there is ever complete parity between the Nike and Adidas lines going not 2025. Exciting times.
I know the rockers of the AP4 and the EVO are 'meant' to be the same, but when the shoes are side by side it still looks like the rocker on the EVO starts further back...
Studio photography is tricky as angles can be very deceptive. Someone out there will put the Evo 1 and AP4 side by side and shoot them from the same angle (Kofuzi maybe, he has good camera skills).
CPU is that stuff what the chinese brands use for ages and has been proven to work excellent durability unmatched, grip very good, only downside: its really not great on trails ... it was only a matter of time. The earliest shoe with a CPU outsole was the Li-Ning Feidian Challenger in 2019 or 2020 and past back then I thought its super cheap china stuff ... how little did I know Edid: another downside - cpu outsoles are nooooisy as hell.
Yup…. And yes to the noise. They make a very distinct sound when wet or on certain surfaces. But it is very lightweight, grippy and very durable… and cosmetically you can do a lot of interesting things with it that you can’t with a rubber or TPU.
@@SagasuRunning yeaaah my Xtep and Li-Nings sound like whips hit when you run midfoot or forefoot, in areas with a lot of buildings. People think you cant run and stare... Dresden city run people heard me from like 200meters away haha My highest mileage in a cpu outsole is around 500km and you can barely see the first textures are gone. Xteps claims over 2000km of durability. Shoes where the upper fall appart sooner than the outsole... I think contracts and the accessibility was the main reason why we havent seen it earlier in western shoe brands.
I’m not sure about the softer foam.. that’s the bit I liked the most about the AP3… I’m a heavier runner and the AP3 foam being firmer and denser is what made it stand apart from its competitors.
Ya, this is something that’s going to be interesting. To see how the new soft LSP works for heavier runners who have come to depend on it. Time till tell.
I’m a little concerned that the 4 may miss the firmness I like. I never had any problems with the upper but acknowledge that there is a lot going on. Also don’t know how I feel about losing the full continental. And less relevant but not sure how much I like the styling. The AP3 looks much better IMO. The SL Evo seems like an awesome shoe. Haven’t got the SL2 yet but seems like the SL evo will make it irrelevant shortly.
I do think it will be interesting how those who preferred or depending on the firmer LSP get on with the new forumla. I do a think a softer LSP with a little sink in it will go a long way to making the shoe a better option for more runners...but yes, there is a subset of runners who like the firmness. I LOVE the new design language of the Evo 1 and how they are moving it across the range. Much better than the AP3 and last two gens, which were good, but not great. Aesthetics are subjective though. There is definitely till a place for the SL2...I suspect it will be the more cushioned shoe for easy running, thought here will definitely be alot of overlap. A rotation like a Supernova Rise/Evo SL/AP4 will be very hard to beat...
I had no idea there was going to be an Evo SL. Definitely getting one if they aren’t sold out the first hour. I have always had this feeling the next Boston would be a higher stack long run shoe. Their Superblast maybe. Prime X Strung was not it especially at that price and being so bulky and unstable.
You know, I wasn't thinking that AT ALL before publishing this video (the Boston becoming a Superblast like shoe), especially with Adidas's introduction oft he Adistar BYD this year (regardless of it being good or bad). But based on the conversation here in multiple comments... I coming around to this idea that that may be what they are planning and it would make sense. Time will tell, but I love the fact the community here can discuss this stuff the way we all do. 👍🏻
All them need to do is remove alot of the unnecessary bulk of the Superblast and you’ll have a better shoe for more people. Let a lot LSP still being a better foam than FFTurbo+ (though it is closer now than ever).
If pro 4 become more aggressive racer, then i hope we still can get pro 3 midsole paired with new upper in form of maybe new boston 13 - boston 12 was somehow lower tier of pro 3 - they both done same things but pro 3 done all much better... Pro 3 was such good long distance cruiser
I can see continental rubber on a B13, the "Lighttraxion" outsole seems reserved for top tier performance. Conti outsoles are way too popular to remove. The Evo SL has it so I'd expect a B13 to follow suit.
You talk about the EVO SL non Plated Performance trainer as if its a revolution. I feel like Asics should get this credit with the superblast with the best working and most hyped non plated performance trainer :))
I’ve given Asics the credit in other videos, tracing the lineage of non plated performance trainers. However, the SB is focused on long runs and marathon builds. It does that well but is awful at most other types of running. The Nike Pegasus Plus has made a more all round trainer, in a proper super foam. The Rebel v4 and Mach 6 get credit too, however they fail on their foam and fit. The Pegasus Plus and Evo SL will be in a league of their own. Other brands will follow. The SB will remain in a league of its own for a long run trainer.
Do you realize that many channels are reviewing the shoe in question? As in, they literally run in it and tell us about it. This video seems to be telling us that you are aware that it exists. We know it does. We've seen it in other videos. Won't be making it even halfway through this!
It's (one of) what I do here. market & design analysis.... not a review. Thank you for clicking, you are right...plenty of other content out there on this one. Enjoy. 👋🏻
Yeah. I don't understand why Adidas would bother registering the Evo SL with World Athletics as a race shoe prototype at all. Therefore it seems unlikely to me that Evo SL = Evo C unless I'm missing something or there is more information that I don't know about. (which is very possible)
I was planning on buying a pair of Supernova Rise for my run commutes to work here in Stockholm Sweden. But the price of the Evo SL makes me think maybe I should just get them instead even though they feel a bit over the top for the propose of jogging to work. Perhaps the continental rubber will be better for grip on cold days too.
I mean, both will work. Interestingly, Adidas marketing is marketing the Evo SL with a lifestyle tilt to it...for a "fast lifestyle" (which is a bit cheesy). So ya...maybe not THAT much over the top. That being said the SNR is one of those shoes that is just so easy to put on and get out the door. It would be what I'd pick for a run commute. Conti rubber is great...but neither the outsoles on the Evo SL or the SNR will be great ins a Swedish winter.... Lastly, the Evo SL won't really be out, mass market, until early next year (March i think, with limited drops before then) so finding a pair will be a challenge. The SNR has lots of discounts as there should be a SNR2 on the horizon...
@@SagasuRunning good points! Ive seen alot of nice deals on the SNR and in they come in a nice amount of colorways too! I guess Dreamstrike aint too bad either!
Very interesting analysis, I just wish they sent you both shoes. AP4 looks great, but that Evo SL is just what I've been hoping the A9 would be, a do it all trainer that I can race with and not feel like I'm missing on anything. Especially because it's gonna be much more durable, like you said. Do you think the peg plus is more comparable to the Evo SL or the A9?
The jury is out on if the AP4 will be as durable as the AP3 (the shoe is a tank) but it will definitely be more durable than the Evo 1. The Evo SL does now seem like the direct competitor to the Peg Plus. More so than the Adios 9.
I have a question regarding the AP4 outsole, since its not full length conti rubber, something I previously suspected seeing from the leak photo. How is that durable ? Im afraid the reduce in weight will make it less durable? I love AP3 full length conti rubber, something like that wont be match in other shoe, hopefully this will be okay, I guess thats where evo sl can shine, love the non plated- non rod stuff. I always love the non plated trainer but with racing foam, light, durable. Adidas is knocking out of the park!! Now we cant wait for the Adios 9 video too! Saw the bitr x rw with adidas spokesperson talking about that, kinda excited, i believe adios 9 will be best to track/treadmill workout.
Adidas's Lightraxion outsole is a CPU material, which is not only very lightweight but it is very durable. I wouldn't worry about the durability at all. The A9 is a very anticipated shoe...I can't wait to talk about it officially.
@@SagasuRunning nice to hear it. Cant wait for the adios 9 too!! Once all the forbidden red colourway releases for all of them, imma grab a pair of each! Love the enhanced and exaggerated looks of the three stripes!
since the evo sl is under 40mm, my guess is that the Boston will be totally overhauled to a max stack 40+mm long speed workout shoe to compete with magic speed 4 and mach x2. adios 9, low to the ground speed shoe evo sl, cushioned speed shoe boston 13, max stach speed shoe prime X 3, ultra max stack(😂) with unique tech
You mention about the Boston, but what are your thoughts about the Takumi Sen? I'm struggling to differentiate the adios 8/9, takumi sen & Evo SL - all light weight racers with different midsole compositions.
Three very different shoes. Think of it this way; Takumi Sen 10 = Lower stack super shoe (race shoe) - Energy Rods 2.0/Conti rubber outsole (traditional Adizero feel) Evo SL = Plateless (rodless) Boston 12 (trainer) - Revised LSP/Conti rubber outsole (A less stiff Boston feel) Adios 9 = Traditional race flat (racer) - New LSP formula/Lightraxion outsole (softer ground feel) The TS10 and A9 are racers, stripped down and have race fits. The Evo SL is a trainer, much more like the SL2 in fit.
@@SagasuRunning thanks for the reply & explanation. I was partly asking to help justify another shoe box arriving at the house when these are released. No names will be mentioned 😆
@bobgibson1303 Because RW has special relationships with some brands. When a brand launches a shoe… it appears on their own site and for major releases you get a press release. I looked at adidas’s site globally and found the A9 nowhere. Not has the brand released any imagery or marketing copy. I’m not saying the shoe isn’t real. It’s definitely coming in December….But for what I do here… the shoe is not released.
Excited for the Evo SL! But fearful as well, I've bought the Adizero SL2 recently and after 50 miles had an inner ankle injury on my right foot probably due to the overpronation as you've brilliantly pointed out in the "what daily trainer is right for you" video; from what you've seen of the Evo SL do you think I might have the same problem with it as well? Edit: I'm using the Superblast 2, Nimbus 26(>300miles) and Magic Speed 3 in my rotation currently for a Marathon, I bought the SL2 hoping to substitute the Nimbus and hoping to transition to a lower stacked and lighter daily trainer .
Compared to the SL2 it will be MUCH more stable for pronation. Compared to the Superblast or Nimbus...not that much, but both those shoes are tanks. The Evo Sl will likely be a good option for what you are looking for. Though the Pegasus Plus exists and is similar in many regards.
Hi Sir, thank you for your content. I am looking to buy a shoe for easy runs and tempo, I have tried the Boston 12 at store and have loved it. However seeing that Evo SL will be release in near future in my country, I am wondering if I should wait for the Evo sl or buy the boston 12 now. I am a heavy runner 100kg and run at pace 6 to 6.30/km.
Likely waiting for the Evo SL is the better option as an easy run shoe to Han can do tempo. The B12 is a tempo shoe there no ideal for easy runs… doing that in a plated shoe is not ideal. The Evo SL basically replaces the B12 for almost all use cases as well.
Graphene is around. Inov8 uses it in some of their outsoles and it's around in hiking shoes. There are challenges with manufacture and some environmental concerns to overcome to produce it. But ya, it was the next greatest thing ever a few years ago in hiking and outdoors applications and it really did disappear.
Thanks for the tip! I looked up Inov-8 and indeed they have graphene in the outsoles of their hiking shoes. They claim this shoe has “the world’s toughest grip” as the graphene-enhanced rubber is “50% stronger, 50% more elastic, and 50% harder wearing” than their non-G series. It is also "lightweight, has a robust yet springy cushion, and deep lugs to help you keep that grip on trail". The hiking shoe weighs in an extremely incredible 260 grams, almost as light as any supershoe. To date, there are three outsoles that shoe manufacturers generally use: Continental rubber, Vibram outsole, and to a lesser extent, graphene. Graphene is supposed to be this abrasive-resistant yet supple material that can be made as thin as possible. For a shoe manufacture that is looking for a lightweight yet tough outsole, graphene is the perfect. Perhaps the reason why shoe companies are not using graphene is that it's too good to be true. Graphene is extremely durable. When you have an outsole that will not wear out, the outsole will outlive the upper. Shoe manufacturers don't like shoes that lasts forever. It lessens their profits. They want you to continue buying shoes as often as possible. Below is an excerpt from thetrek.co review of the Innov-8 Terraultra G 260 Shoes with Graphene Outsole. "After 450 miles these shoes show very little sign on the outers. Compare this to my Nike Wildhorses that have only done about 50 miles more, and the results are night and day. The grip on these shoes is incredible and I could see myself putting another few hundred miles on them before the grip was compromised."
Low plate configuration. Though Adidas's rods run a little different than an actual plate. The mechanics of the AP4 are very much about loading a big chunk of foam between the foot and the rods, like a VF or MSEP.
Looks like the evo SL will work great for all paces including easy, and probably a very competent long run shoe as well as tempo. Looks like a great high end daily trainer?
Possibly, I mean on paper it should. I still think it pairs with the SL2. That being said, if it is as capable as it seems a Evo SL + AP4 combo will tick most boxes you need.
Not official release. Once Adidas puts out a proper press release/photos and it shoes up on their website...I'll cover it. This shoe has been embargoed heavily...I'm thinking they threw RW a bone giving their relationship...but that was ONLY for RW.
Ya the shoe is real… but not officially released. I’m not debating how real it is or that it’s coming in December…. But Adidas has yet to officially release it.
@@SagasuRunning I know :). I was thinking your experienced runner's eye will be bale to tell data on the shoe by just one glimspe at it :). TBH, I'm sure you can haha but let's wait for the official release.
I have a lot to say on it actually. Which is also why it’s going to be its own video (unless it launches with the Takumi Sen 11). So much to say… stay tuned. 🤙🏻
Us: we want superblast with 40 mm full turbo+ Asics : NO adidas : okay hold my beer friend Evo SL with full lightstrike pro and no plate at 150$ will SELL LIKE FUCKING HOTCAKES !
I was hoping the AP4 would be my 2025 marathon shoe having enjoyed the AP3 (except the upper), but I wonder if the new softer compound will be a bit unstable for my 79kg heelstrikes? Thankfully I can't get one until next year and hopefully Sagasu will have picked up a review pair by then!
It looks like there is some engineering in the midsole to compensate for that, though I need to run in them to know. The softer LSP will definitely be interesting to see how those who preferred/depended on the firmer LSP adopt it.
20:07 When you're saying "we are finally going to be able to do it in one shoe", is it not the case for the Superblast 2? Plateless shoe with superfoam for slower runs and faster more tempo stuff?
I know the Superblast is the internets favorite shoe that can do it all. However, its designed to be a long run trainer, specialcally long runs with marathon pace in them when training for a marathon. It does that well and marathon focused tempo well. But for faster running, like training for a 5 or 10k, speed work, and reps...its not great and way too much shoe. It's also not amazing as a daily trainer, the Novablast is much better for that use case. The Evo SL looks to be a shoe that can handle a broader range of "tempo" and speed work, not just marathon focused. The Adios 9 will compliment it for the really fast stuff. Plus...I'l take Lightstrike Pro over FFTurbo+/FFBlast+ any day...
You know, I don' see that at all. The Evo Sl is a Endorphin Speed 4 killer. Dreamstrike+ will NEVER be in a Adizero shoe. That is a comfort foam specially for the Supernova series. But, the Supernova Prima...is what you are looking for, especially if you are a fore/midfoot striker.
Maybe…. It’s thet or its going down market as a budget trainer like the Asics Magic Speed 4. It could also be a plated partner to the Evo SL, but that doesn’t make as much sense to me. We shall see.
@@SagasuRunning everyone seems to be coming out with max stacked, non plated trainers. Regardless of what it may be called, I wouldn’t be surprised if adidas has one out within the next year or so. The Adistar 3 and Supernova Prima are both pushing 40mm in the heel, but they’re not in that realm.
Not quite sure I understand the connection here...butt eh Evo Sl should handle quite alot of types of runs well...and the Flyknit ricers were amazing in their time.
Still need a daily trainer...the SL2 still has it's place.... but so many great options from Adidas in 2025. I'll do a rotation video once we see more of the 2025 lineup later this year.
I can't seem to find a good photo that covers the inner heel collar on the AP V4, but you seem to have one at 9:58 and that looks like a complete bumper around the collar...if it is....WOW....I'd roll the dice and buy a pair....worst case I trade it with a buddy who has the same size feet as me and LOVES Adidas. Adidas are going to sell a metric shit ton of Evo SL's...get them while you can, cause I suspect they will be hard to keep in stock at that price. But I do see concerns with too much overlap with their 2025 Adizero lineup which might cause some consumer confusion. But we shall see...
Watch Alex Filitti's video on the AP4, he has some studio angles of it and talks about it directly. Right now, every brand has WAY too much overlap. and customer confusion. It's about time Adidas joins that party. At least the Adidas shoes look performance oriented and some type of "The Homer" concoction that other brands seem to be forcing down our throats.
Once there is official word from Adidas, specs/info/photo/press release...I'll cover it. RW posting the shoe is not an official release. I do have alot to say about the Adios 9, which will require it's own video when we have the official info. Stay tuned.
Weight and I suspect feel. The AP4 will have a much lighter feel while the Evo SL will be a durable tank. I also suspect that the new CPU outsole will show up in some much lighter shoes in the coming years.
@@NeillyVilleAdidas guy said the grip pretty much, if not exact, the same in testing.. so they opt for less Conti rubber to save weight while also provide the same grip with the other outsole compound
I'm a little bit worried now with the durability of the midsole. They said evo1 has the same chemical material as adios pro 3, but cnc milled so it's lighter and airy, but much less durable than any other supershoe. Now they're saying adios pro4 is also cnc milled like evo, very airy like evo1, but they expect us to trust them that they're as durable as adios pro3. I don't buy that. I'm going to wait for more durability reviws of adios pro4 before I'll buy one.
@@SagasuRunning well he didn't explicitly say it was cnc milled, but he said the difference between aaap3 and evo1 was only cnc milling, now they have put the same material to aaap4. Is my interpretation correct? Sorry English is my 2nd language.
@zixednatz @zixednatz Not exactly. He said chemically the foams were the same (this is the model in the RW video, so last year. Technically both were TPE foams. But he made no mention of the production processes. He only said that the way the Evo 1 was built spared no cost (which is true, it also didn’t scale). The AP3 was always a compression molded midsole (as far as I am aware). I doubt the AP3 is any different, it wouldn’t make sense price wise and the shoe would not be the price it is. The milking for the Evo 1 midsole was not the durability issues it was a cost and dealing issue. The airiness of the Evo 1 foam was pushing the limits of the material. They said they stepped it way back, which makes sense.
I’m thinking there are more substantial differences between the Evo SL and Adios 9. One is a trainer and one is a racer. So weight will be a big one…. But I’m going to guess the feel of the foam, the use of the CPU outsole on the Adios 9 and a different formula LSP…. Not to mention likely some shank differences… will make the rides very different.
The problem with Lightstrike Pro is that it lasts too long. I have a pair of Adios Pro 3 that are still very low mileage so I guess by the time I need a replacement I will be able to get the white colorway on discount when the spring colors come out or maybe even later than that. I have been using the Adizero SL2 as a daily but I don't love it. (The ankle collar is slight too high, the upper textile is overbuilt, and the outsole is wants to slip just a bit in the rain on my crappy roads.) I have to be honest that a string of bad-to-meh and an good-with-caveats model have kind of tainted the 'SL' brand for me but that said the Evo SL does look close to something that I actually would want as a Streak 6/7 refugee. I think they will come out a bit heavier than a Streak 7 but what are you gonna do? BTW. I just saw on roadtrailrun that the adidas brand for their cast polyurethane outsole is "Lighttraxion" which goes along with "Lightlock" and "Lightstrike Pro" in their "Light" branding, I guess.
The fact that adidas' lightstrike pro is durable is one very important reason bought it. I don't think the prices of super shoes are justified if they don't last.
Super shoes are meant for performance, not durability. You are paying top dollar for that performance, everything else is secondary. That being said, some are more durable than others the the AP3 certainly was a tank.
The Adios 9 is the one you really want... soon, soon. Ya, Adidas is going heavy with "Light..." product naming... a little too much. It's hard to track all of them, "Lighttraxion" is such a mouthful and so hard to remember.
@@SagasuRunning Sure. But my top performance won't be top for anyone but me, so it wouldn't be worth spending hundreds on just a few runs. So the price has to be reasobable in terms of durability as well. The very reasoning adidas seems to have applied to the development of the pro4 as an alternative to the evo1.
Notification from the brand though. Not until they put a press release out or have it on their own dot.com. I check adidas’s site all over the world and nothing. No press release. So not official. RW has jumped the gun before…
Have you ever said why you live in Taiwan? Seems weird for a New Yorker. Do you work there? What did you study to be a product designer? And what does that even mean? What did you design?
My wife and I are digital nomads and can live/work where we wish. My wife is also Taiwanese, in 2021 we came here for a few months and nearly 4 years later haven't found a reason to leave. Taiwan is central to all of Asia and everything is a 2-4 hour flight away, which is amazing. That being said we are planning on establishing "home" back in the US in 2025, on the west coast. I'm definitely a "former" New Yorker now... (though will always be a native New Yorker).
So they never sent you a pair?! They sent everyone and their granny a pair. Shame on them. You put so much into your videos. Very informative.
Nothing… I even tried all of 2024 thus far. 🤷🏼♂️

@SagasuRunning As am I. Looking forward to your full reviews
@@SagasuRunningI'm STILL thinking about pulling the trigger on the SL2 lol. Lets see how Nike evolves over the next evolution period first.
LoL zero innovation? Go home, you're drunk.
Been waiting for this! Evo SL look exciting for a tempo long rung trainer and racer for intermediates like myself.
Fully agree... It's going to be a very very good shoe for many runners.
Price is rarely a concern of mine for running shoes… but 💯 agree with you.
Fully agree, adidas and Nike are the only two brands that can undercut since their main business isn’t centered around “running shoes”. Turning less profit on a specific running shoe isn’t as impactful compared to a Brookes or Hoka. Adidas is definitely trying to squeeze the other brands
It’s an interesting strategy if true. Will be curious to watch.

Welcome back. I was wondering where you had gone. 🤙🏻
Very excited about the Evo SL and the adios 9 with full LSP midsoles.
💯💯
will the evo sl and adios 9 be really similar except for stack height and geometry?
@io-rj6sk I posted this on Reddit earlier today to the same question;
The Evo SL is a trainer, with a LSP formula more like the current LSP.
Thanks for the detailed breakdown, Chris. These shoes have me very excited for Adidas in 2025
I can't wait for 2025 Adidas rants from you... I'm especially curious how you'll get on with the AP4.
I'm really excited for the Evo SL. Hope it lives up to the hype. Thanks for the detailed explanation.
Same. Thank you for watching. 🤙🏻
Early reviews seem to say the Evo SL is a better SL2 for more runners…
Thank you for the kind words on the content and for watching.
💯
Oh 😮 The EVO SL is super interesting! Great breakdown. 🙌
Interesting we are seeing more and more plateless shoes that focus on natural foot mechanics, to differing degrees.... 😎
Very informative :) I'm super hype for the EVO SL !
Same. 🤙🏻
As for the future of the Boston. Well, base don the comments of this video I think it's one of two things;
1). The Boston turns into a max stack plated (rods) Superblast like shoe
2). The Boston moves down market and becomes a budget racing option
The Evo SL likely replaces the role the Boston had for many runners and Adidas doesn't need ANOTHER race shoe (Evo 1, AP4, TS10, A9) plus there are no gaps there anymore other than price.
I think the Evo SL will be the "Rebel v.4 Killer" and the Boston 13 will be a less aggressive Marathon shoe compared with the Adios Pro 4.
Could be. The two would work together really well. I am excited about more plates performance trainers though… we need more of those.
The upper update is enough for me to go get a pair when they release, and I’m really curious about the Evo SL.. I think we all agree that we need your review on both of this shoes!
Ya, the AP4 upper alone...is worth the upgrade. So SOOOOO much. 🤣
That was quick. excellent analysis. that outsole on the evo sl looks just like the boston 12. maybe the boston 13 will just be an upper update like the 10/11 was. both can coexist if the boston is the more stable, yet heavier slightly firmer perfomance trainer/ marathon race option.
The B12 has THE BEST forefoot Conti Rubber patch ever...and yes, the Evo SL looks to have that similar design happening.
Sagasu San....keep up the good work !!!!!!!!!
Thank you for watching. 🤙🏻
@@SagasuRunning interesting!
Evo 1 launched the Hyper Shoe category (which currently being spammed by the Chinese) just like Mclaren F1 launched Hyper Car category
I’m glad the DNE3 is working out for you. You’ve got many months before the AP4 is very available anyway…. Enjoy them.
Ya, the Adidas team ticked ALOT of boxes with the Evo SL, including value for money.
Adidas may have introduced and market the EVO SL as a light daily tempo trainer. (to go against Mach 6 and Rebel V4)
In doing so, the next-gen of Boston series may evolved and create an identity of being a max-stacked daily trainers or an upgraded tank supershoe (Going against the likes of Skyward X, SC Trainer, Superblast )
While Adios Pro 4 retaining its role in the lineup.
Adidas seriously has their isht together this year 👀
Maybe not this year… but for 2025, yes. This year has been very iffy with release dates and getting stock on shelves in all markets.
It’s directly the analog for Adidas of the Peg Plus, even more than the Adios 9. Both will compare but the Evo SL is the primary one.
@OdanUrr87 yes, it does look that way. Much needed.
Great video - thank you! I absolutely do not need more shoes but...
Hahaha... One likely rarely needs new shoes...but... 🤣
LOVEEE THISSSS NEWS!!
🤙🏻
Both of these shoes are very exciting. The wait for the releases begins…….. I almost wish I didn’t know about them. 😂
😂😂😂
Can't wait for a non-white colorway!
Like call it different - Coke, Coke Diet, Coke Zero - all are Coke but with different compositions
Anyway I'm excited for Adios Pro 4! This might be my next race day shoe.
As always superb video and details! 👏
Adidas and most especially Nike should be giving you new shoes for review and do a design analysis.
💯
Granted you alreayd have the Terrax options... but still.
Easy Listening 👌
Thanks for listening (watching)... 🫡
My honest opinion is that if these shoes shake out to be what I think they will, Nikes goose is cooked
We shall see. Nike has some great options right now and there is ever complete parity between the Nike and Adidas lines going not 2025. Exciting times.
@@SagasuRunning exciting times indeed, that's probably the takeaway I should have!
Very exciting times in running shoes indeed. 2025 is going to be a good year for running shoes.
@@SagasuRunning Good insight. It also may be the cutout on the AP4 on the lateral side that distorts things a little...
Ya… the geometry of the shoe shoot wonky. Some of the UA-camr shorts/reels coming out of Berlin show the shoe in a more clear light.
CPU is that stuff what the chinese brands use for ages and has been proven to work excellent durability unmatched, grip very good, only downside: its really not great on trails ...
it was only a matter of time.
The earliest shoe with a CPU outsole was the Li-Ning Feidian Challenger in 2019 or 2020 and past back then I thought its super cheap china stuff ... how little did I know
Edid: another downside - cpu outsoles are nooooisy as hell.
Dresden city run people heard me from like 200meters away haha
My highest mileage in a cpu outsole is around 500km and you can barely see the first textures are gone.
Xteps claims over 2000km of durability.
Shoes where the upper fall appart sooner than the outsole...
I think contracts and the accessibility was the main reason why we havent seen it earlier in western shoe brands.
@Chungdol maybe you are the reason Adidas adopted CPU… they heard you all the way from Herzo.
@@SagasuRunning then the logical response would have been "oh gawd nooo"
@Chungdol 😂
Time to invest in addidas stock
Hahaha... 🤣 (The are up +51% YTD).
👍🏻
@@SagasuRunning I really hope so and I have a feeling it will be a better long run/tempo shoe than the Superblast for many runners (including me?)
Thanks!
Thank you! Very much appreciated. 🤙🏻
Boston 13 might be a plated version of the Evo SL 🤔
Could be… but we will see in 2025.
Enjoy. 👋🏻
I'm still confused between Evo SL and leaked proto Evo C, is it different or not
Yeah. I don't understand why Adidas would bother registering the Evo SL with World Athletics as a race shoe prototype at all. Therefore it seems unlikely to me that Evo SL = Evo C unless I'm missing something or there is more information that I don't know about. (which is very possible)
Same shoe, it just had the Evo C name in proto.
It's more covering bases. if you look at the WA shoe list there are MANY shoes on there that will never actually be raced...
@TomBramler DS is a great foam. Especially for easy running.
I think the Evo SL upper are more "SLish" compared to TS10 , but will see
Adidas's Lightraxion outsole is a CPU material, which is not only very lightweight but it is very durable.
@subhi2698 TRE24 is coming…. I’m sure there will be a new forbidden shoe. 🫢
since the evo sl is under 40mm, my guess is that the Boston will be totally overhauled to a max stack 40+mm long speed workout shoe to compete with magic speed 4 and mach x2.
adios 9, low to the ground speed shoe
evo sl, cushioned speed shoe
boston 13, max stach speed shoe
prime X 3, ultra max stack(😂) with unique tech
I'm pretty sure the Adidas guy said it was intentionally a low stack shoe, like 32mm. Like a takumi without rods.
You could be right...I can see this very clearly happening just like that.
He definitely implied that.
You mention about the Boston, but what are your thoughts about the Takumi Sen? I'm struggling to differentiate the adios 8/9, takumi sen & Evo SL - all light weight racers with different midsole compositions.
Three very different shoes. Think of it this way;
Takumi Sen 10 = Lower stack super shoe (race shoe) - Energy Rods 2.0/Conti rubber outsole (traditional Adizero feel)
Evo SL = Plateless (rodless) Boston 12 (trainer) - Revised LSP/Conti rubber outsole (A less stiff Boston feel)
Adios 9 = Traditional race flat (racer) - New LSP formula/Lightraxion outsole (softer ground feel)
The TS10 and A9 are racers, stripped down and have race fits. The Evo SL is a trainer, much more like the SL2 in fit.
@@SagasuRunning thanks for the reply & explanation. I was partly asking to help justify another shoe box arriving at the house when these are released. No names will be mentioned 😆
@Alex_Runs40 Haha. 😂
In the believe in the run x runningwarehouse video they officially unveiled the Adios 9
Nope. Not until Addias publishes an official press release and press packet and puts it o. The website is it official. RW has jumped the gun before…
@@SagasuRunning really? When did they announce a drop with a major brand rep and it didn’t drop?
@@SagasuRunning Thanks! That makes me much less worried about giving it a try
I wonder why shoe manufacturers haven't tried graphene as an outsole material. It was a promising material several years back
Graphene is around.
Where would you put the pro 4 in the plate placement category? Same as pro 3? Vaporfly2? Sky Paris?
Low plate configuration. Though Adidas's rods run a little different than an actual plate. The mechanics of the AP4 are very much about loading a big chunk of foam between the foot and the rods, like a VF or MSEP.
So strange that Adidas didn’t send you these.
🤷🏼♂️
Looks like the evo SL will work great for all paces including easy, and probably a very competent long run shoe as well as tempo. Looks like a great high end daily trainer?
Possibly, I mean on paper it should. I still think it pairs with the SL2. That being said, if it is as capable as it seems a Evo SL + AP4 combo will tick most boxes you need.
@SagasuRunning yes look fwd to your review on both.
As do I. 😂
Adios 9 displayed and talked about in Running Warehouse channel.
Not official release. Once Adidas puts out a proper press release/photos and it shoes up on their website...I'll cover it. This shoe has been embargoed heavily...I'm thinking they threw RW a bone giving their relationship...but that was ONLY for RW.
@@SagasuRunning Yeah but theye were presented by their guy so it's real.
Us: we want superblast with 40 mm full turbo+
Asics : NO
adidas : okay hold my beer friend
Evo SL with full lightstrike pro and no plate at 150$ will SELL LIKE FUCKING HOTCAKES !
😂😂😂😂 (even though the Evo SL doesn’t really compete with the Superblast… I enjoy the humor).
Would be interested in a Pegasus Plus/Evo SL comparison ...
Trust me… it will be coming as soon as I get a pair. Same for the Adios 9.
Has the evo sl a structured mor stable or a flexible heel counter?
It looks more stable and structured (and padded), especially for a Adizero shoe.
Boston ain't going away, It's their budget marathon shoe.
Yup, this is the other likely outcome. It' literally becomes a Magic Speed 4/Zoom Fly 6...which is sad, but needed in the market.
Evo Sl looks like a superblast killer, I wished they used dreamstrike+ instead
You know, I don' see that at all. The Evo Sl is a Endorphin Speed 4 killer. Dreamstrike+ will NEVER be in a Adizero shoe. That is a comfort foam specially for the Supernova series. But, the Supernova Prima...is what you are looking for, especially if you are a fore/midfoot striker.
I’m probably way off on this, but maybe they’re going to revamp the Boston into a true Superblast competitor.
@danielamos672 Adidas has one, that is what the Adistar BYD was, at least in their product hierarchy.
@@SagasuRunning it’s got a plate. You’re right, though. Wonder why it’s not more widely available.
If it was good enough for Prre ..then its good enough for me!!!!! Ill train and do all of my miles in the EVO SL....I still use flyknit racers
Not quite sure I understand the connection here...butt eh Evo Sl should handle quite alot of types of runs well...and the Flyknit ricers were amazing in their time.
@@SagasuRunning Sagasu Good channel...I meant that rapscallion steve prefontaine..alias pre....i dont thimk I am worthy of plates and rods
Oh… plates and rods can benefit most people. I would give them a shot at some point. You might be surprised.
Remind me again why you prefer not to train with plates? Even for your tempo/threshold sessions?
Training stimulus, foot strength and mechanics. I'll have some content on this specifically in Oct/Nov. Stay tuned.
Any chance you could get your hands on the new Asics Glideride Max?
Nope. Not a fan of “max” shoes nor the Glideride…. So unlikely. The next Asics I cover will be the Novablast 5….
The running warehouse video wasn’t recorded recently???
That was recorded in Nov 2023 at TRE, its almost a year old.... very out of date.
So the Evo SL is the Invicible from Addidas
No. That would be the UltraBoost 5X.
I know what will be my rotation next year: Evo SL, Takumi Sen 11 and Adios 4.
If Adidas can do this, I don't see why the Superblast is so expensive.
Different R&D costs, supply chains and corporate priorities.
What about adios 9?
Once there is official word from Adidas, specs/info/photo/press release...I'll cover it. RW posting the shoe is not an official release. I do have alot to say about the Adios 9, which will require it's own video when we have the official info. Stay tuned.
I don't understand why it's not full Continental on the Pro 4 but it is on the EVO SL?
Weight and I suspect feel. The AP4 will have a much lighter feel while the Evo SL will be a durable tank.
I also suspect that the new CPU outsole will show up in some much lighter shoes in the coming years.
So does that mean adidas is slowly moving away from the durability and reliability of Continental for the sake of weight?

I haven’t heard them say the AP4 midsole is milled. Where did you hear that? Link please.

Evo SL looks like Adios Pro 4 without rods. And Adios 9 is just lower stack Evo SL.
@@SagasuRunning of course, with 28mm stack even with same shank and materials Adios 9 will feel different. Much lighter and more stable.
@ebayer1980 I also think the foams will be tuned differently. The Adios 9 will be much more performance/speed/race oriented… not training focused.
@@SagasuRunning really looking foreward to the adios9. I think it's important to have a lower shoe in the rotation
So I guess this means RIP Boston range?
I can’t imagine it going away… but I think it’s changing drastically. We shall see in 2025.
@@SagasuRunning I do like that the line is clearer now, SL is the everyday trainer, SL Evo is the up tempo trainer, Pro is the race day shoe
@JonathanMallett Yes… in the most basic Adizero rotation.
Adios 9 is officially announced 😂 it’s on running warehouse
