Deffo a massive YEY for the EVO SL. Adidas had me at £130 plus with discounts so even cheaper probably 😅 Superfoam, looks like a beauty and Conti rubber
Pro 4 looks ridiculous
which discounts? in EU we don't have that.....hehe
Looks like Adidas is going to be the top seller this time around. 👏💪👍
We shall see
The Adios Pro 4 is Adidas's everyman's racer. The EVO SL is the companion shoe to that. To not review that is to ignore one of the most popular race day shoes and its companion shoe. I think that would be doing a disservice to your audience.
I can understand the hype, there's more similarities to the Evo than the pro 3, but more durable and about half the price.
Excited for both Adidas models.
Saw and touched the evo sl today at the believe in the run shakeout run. I am super excited about this shoe. Foam felt great touching it, flexible without a plate, very light, great upper and the looks are Spot On! Perfect daily trainer, like a mix of peg 41 and turbo. Hopefully I can get one in the Oct release.
Hopefully is not that narrow..
Both adidas shoes are on my hit list 😂
Pro 4 is definitely on my radar 👀 I hear what you’re saying about “why the buzz”… and I agree there doesn’t look to be huge changes… but for me the pro 3 is incredible BUT a bit too heavy, to hear it’s dropped a good amount of weight means it might actually become a “racer” rather than an “elite trainer”
... "elite trainer" for those of us with boat feet :)
Different upper, different outsole, tweaked midsole, different geometry, lighter. Quite a few changes. You reviewers will all have to test them for us😉
YAY 💯 for both Adidas shoes.
You keep saying "only" X grams lighter, but at a certain point it does matter, and certainly with your larger shoe size i think those weight savings are accentuated. I think both Adios Pro 4 and Evo SL are, on paper, slam dunk announcements from the brand. A lighter Adios Pro 3 with a better upper is to me an almost must-buy (pending durability) as those were my only complaints with AP3, and the Evo SL looks exactly like the trainer ive been wanting from adidas, and that weight is actually very competitive and depending on how cushioned it feels it could either be a competitor to the Rebel or Mach, or a much cheaper and lighter Superblast competitor. But to each their own!
It's a yeah on both the Adidas particularly interested in Evo SL they kind of remind me of the rodless Pro3 without the cutouts in the midsole look like they should be a great trainer. The Pro4 are no trainers 🎉😂
Guess ya didn’t have time to do much research before filming this one 😂
Why is that? I don’t get pulled in with the “new foam” “softer foam” thing. Not interested by that. They say it time and time again.
Massive Yea for the Pro4 and Evo SL. Totally disagree with you on these two shoes for many reasons.
EVO sl is my next shoe if I can pick it up next month.
You can buy any great old gen shoe at discount. Why is it bad in adidas but okey with others? The Evo Sl will undercut all the competition retail price and the Adios pro 4 has good updates of a shoe that was already amazing, and keeps the same price. I Know they can be overhyped but please just don’t just go all the other way because of it.
I think the main benefit of the Pro 4 will be increased comfort and fit. I never had any issues with the Pro 3, but my guess is the 4 will be liked by more people just for that reason if it truly is more comfortable and better lockdown
The PRO 4 is a must!
Adidas just do it 😅
But the Lightstrike Pro of the Pro 4 is softer, are you not going to try it Edd?
The Adidas Evo SL is a yay for me. If it is 80% performance of the Superblast 2, it’s a win for everyone. Superblast 2 is expensive, too tall for me, hard to find with discounts and honestly look hideous with the current purplish colorway.
Weird you're not excited about the new Adidas. People are flipping out with excitement in various forums, esp. the EVO SL as being a potential Superblast killer at a far cheaper price.
AAP3 has been, to me, a consistent, reliable and efficient shoe. I have used my first pair (pinks) in races, XC, light trails, track workouts and it simply works and is pretty comfortable, too. Today i grabbed my second pair (blacks) for a hard workout on the track. A 8x1K with 45sec R @ 3:00-2:51min/km; starting at 3min/km first reps and moving gradually towards 2:50/51min/km. It felt phenomenal. So the idea of the pro 4 or the evo sl, even, for track workouts, is worth consideration given the brutal performance from the 3...
I'll more than likely pick up the Adidas Evo SL. I think it is a good offering as a training shoe. Nice stack, good weight, sensible and simple upper and good outsole. And hopefully a reasonable price in Australia. The others I'll pass. The weight of the Adios Pro 4 is disappointing. No rush at all for that one. Have a great day Edd! 🤗
Those stripes have gotten out of hand! Ney from me, excited for Adios Pro 3 discounts though ✌️
I think the evo SL only has a small plastic shank in the mid rather than rods.
EVO SL looks like it could be a great daily trainer and non plated workout shoe
I've already told the wife I'm getting the Evo SL AND Adios Pro 4! 😂
Tell her I tried. 🤣👍🏼
@EDDBUD 😂😂 I absolutely love my pro 3's so the pro 4 is a must! The SL is an impulse buy 😂
Refreshing that you're not buying into the hype of the latest adidas releases. Other youtube channels have become rather tiresome. No radical changes from the Pro 3. Don't believe the hype!
I'm sorry Edd... But from the thumbnail - it was a great huge "YAY" for the Pro 4. 😅
It was your sound review that swayed me to invest in the Pro 1 and Pro 3 eventually.
Here's to another gaping hole in our wallets. 😓
I beg you to reconsider on the Pumas. Think how cool you’d look in your final gig in them before you board the ark on the Yeovil industrial estates. You’ll need something grippy to run home in once the waters subside?
Patience! 😏 Skipping early birds...
ADIOS the 9th is coming
It is the evo sl for me . Though the takumi is lighter and has the rods , I've been enjoying models with more comfortable uppers and rod-less/ plate-less shoes . I wish the weight would be lighter, but there is more stack than the takumi
Adidas seems lost. They also launched a new "Adizero" shoe in Brazil. It's called Adidas Adizero Drive RC. Has SL2 foam (regular lightstrike) + fiberglass energyrods. Looks like a budget Boston 12.
I’m so mad bc I just got a pair of pro 3s and boy oh boy do I need a pair of pro 4s. Also excited for the adios 9 that have been teased. Looking insane! Great video as always
Facts. I still ain't seeing no reason to switch up or even work the Adios Pro 4 into my lineup, especially when I got the last version, which still hits as one of the best kicks I've run in for performance.
Thanks for the sharing!
I have recently bought the SL2 and it works really well as you said!
The EVO SL sounds interesting but I guess I don't need that in the near future.
EVO SL and Adios Pro 4 makes more sense in this region because Adidas shoes sell like hot cakes. I've never seen a adizero shoe with a discount because they usually sell out less than a week. I don't know if the stock is limited or there are more demand than usual but this is the reality here. Personally, I'm waiting on adios 9 to drop.
Also little off topic. I came across a 500$ lifestyle shoe in Adidas store. It's called Adidas Y-3 Itogo. I want to know who wears such shoes.
Cannot wait for the Evo SL, it looks like what the SL2 should’ve been. Out of the 4 in this video, it’s the most interesting one
A few people are already anticipating the wonderful Adidas discounts, but I guess it will be a while before the SL is discounted, given the staggered release. It's looking like the kind of shoe that many will buy 2 of, given the cost of its competitors; the Superblast 1 and 2, etc.
While I agree with you when you 'don't buy into the hype' of always softer midsoles...wrt the adios Pro 4 it actually sounds like a complete rework. Apparently the top layer of (lightstrike pro) foam is essentially the Evo Pro foam. The carbon rods shape has also been brought across, obviously to match the rocker being earlier. The lower layer of Lightstrike Pro foam is claimed to be softer (woohoo-sarcastic!). A different outsole. A different upper that's supposedly softer, doesn't 'bite', and easy to lockdown. That sounds like a lot...my guess is it runs substantially differently than the previous models. "Better"? Who knows.
All that said, I haven't run in any Adios Pro 1-3, but that lace bite takes some working out in some of the other Adizero shoes.
To be fair Edd, it’s very easy to get caught up in the hype. Your take on it has very much made me realise that you’re absolutely right!! Just get the takumi Sen!! Surely can’t be a better shoe for the exact same thing, but without the fibreglass rods
Love your work mate, I'm hanging out for the adios 9 though. Adios 4 look nice but I'm no marathoner
The 450 pounds "one-use" pro evo 1 is definitely not for the general public, although, having hold them in hand yesterday at the berlin marathon expo, they do feel magical and too light to be true. Evo SL on the other hand, is very interesting, definitely a yay for me and can't wait to get them to try :D
Pro 4, evo sl, adios 9. Yay, yay and yay
Evo Takumi Sen coming soon
Evo SL is a yeah for me, I liked the SL2 so much that I was thinking about how Adidas could possibly improve it and Adidas was like, "hold my beer 🍺 Here's the Evo SL.."
Agreed! There's not much new there to review! The market is saturated with similar shoes.
Double yay on the SL Evo and Pro 4. A horses nay on the new balance and puma for me
The Evo SL sounds very interesting 😮
4 nays? What will you spend your time doing/reviewing? ;-) interested to hear about the pro 4 compared to sky paris/cielo x1. Also interested to hear about nb 1080v14, had a few previous versions and enjoyed them as a training shoe. Puma looks cool whatever it's like to use but haven't done much trails so probably couldn't justify them myself.
XC season kicking in if that's something you might want to look into
I heard the SL had a nylon plate in it, like the puma deviate nitro, but I can't see that on adidas site and no one else seems to mention it either, you heard anything about it?
wise words Edd. i am falling for the evo sl tho. the hype is strong. well let's see what's up come '25.
The torturous upper on the Adios Pro 3 is why I’m very excited about the Pro 4.
Cheers Ed. That Puma shoe is like my nan's booties from the 70's, fond memories!
Please review the Pro 4. You're an honest reviewer and we have the same size shoe. :)
That’s funny. I have the same size as Ed too. I pay close attention when he talks about fit. 😀
Man it's already 1 am, ima watch this after i wake up
Haha the midsole master is hilarious when he is in total nay mode😂. But seriously, Ed, you'll have to test the two adidas models eventually, because we all want you to🏃♂️
Ultimately I shall give them a whirl. But it’s just weird to show them off without a launch. What’s with the influencers having them before a consumer release? Is that within the rules?!
To be honest, Edd. Apart from that bonkers Puma shoe, this is a pretty meh bunch. I'm keen to hear how durable the Pro 4 will be . Just a tiny sliver of Continental rubber under the big toe and that's it. The Pro 3 was a proper mile muncher, which helped to offset the cost. The Pro 4 doesn't look to be anywhere so durable to me. I guess I'll have to wait.
Glad I watched this as i was going to get a pair of the sl2's next month. Guess I'll hold out for the pro Evo sls instead. Not many more Earth Credits either- banging
@@MarkByam yes best hold off on the current line up
The EVO SL has a Continental outsole at the mid-to-forefoot. The SL2 has adiWear throughout. I always go for 400km in my shoes. adiWear simply doesn’t hold up as well, and it never has done. The Adios9 is $140USD. The Boston12 is $160USD. That puts the EVO SL between them in price.
I don’t know what any of that means, but I know I don’t want another pair of Adios8. I know adidas keeps tweaking and improving.
✌🏽💙👟
One more thing on the EVO SL. They got rid of the carrier foam, so a “dogbone” aka traditional torsion rod setup was added for stability.
I don’t think I’ll be testing the two SL models for an on-feet comparison. But they’re quite different approaches to solve the same problem.
✌🏽💙👟
Hey Edd! I appreciate your honest reviews.
I want to buy the Puma Deviate Nitro 3 and I saw they just released the Puma Deviate Nitro 3 WTR+. I was considering the WTR+ edition but I'm skeptical of the lacing system and how warm they will be during warmer days. Any thoughts of future reviews planned? Thank you!
Might ask Puma if I can review one. I like the dn3 standard now. Has softened up a little
Wouldn't dream of critiquing your videos....,but has it really come to, "let's get into it"? Next thing you'll be having a video called, "I tried eating sandwiches wearing eight different running shoes and you won't believe what happened! (Chowing down in number 7 will upset some people )".
..I 'd probably still watch 😀
I think I’ve said it before. Will probaly say it again
Those Pumas remind me of my favorite winter running shoe: the Pegasus Turbo Shield. I still wear them in the snow and slush. They have the same kind of zipper closure and a waterproof neoprene outer. they are, indeed, bonkers.
Yes I remember seeing those in Nike town. Weird but interesting shoe
my shoetuber scrolling begins and ends with you EDDBUD 😘
This Is the Way! 😉
You should watch Tim Grose too
What I find interesting about the Pro4 is the rocker moving back towards the midsole. It would be nice to know your thoughts on how that effects the ride. I love the Pro3’s.
I’d also love to know how grippy the new rubber compound is and how it holds up. It’s been so long since this beloved shoe had a refresh. Good news is the Pro3’s may come down in price.
It will either be a big improvement or a very subtle update. The big issue will still be weight for some
@@EDDBUD I may be jaded when it comes to the Adidas Pro. I really want the Pro4 to be a great refresh to an already great shoe.
Nice werk Edd!
I’ll probably try the Pro 4 as Adidas has allegedly fixed the whole lace bite issue from v3. Also, the Lightstrike Pro is supposed to be more more in line with the responsiveness of the Pro Evo 1 (which I LOVE), and finally, the rocker of the Pro 4 is now moved back as per where the Pro Evo 1 rocker is. So I’ll definitely grab the Pro 4 as v3 just never worked for me after several tries.
They always say it’s “softer”
@@EDDBUD true! 😆
Lightstrike pro foam is very stiff. I have the SL1 and it has that. Feels like a shoe you would NOT want to run in to me.
It does soften up over time
The Evo SL is plateless except for a small mid foot shank. A plateless, higher stack takumi sen? Gimme
£130 no brainer
EVO SL for sure - have Pro 3s (4 PRs! 😮) so I’ll be hitting them when they drop. Heel spurs so need little or no heel cup - just gave away brand new Boston 12s as too stiff in heel. (Aye - there’s the rub). Haven’t even watched this episode yet Edd but I’m already excited ❤👍🏻
i also have them. have to have either a super cushioned heel cup (Brooks are usually good for that) or a floppy one
@@undeadly1103 Thanks for sharing!🙏 I’ll take a look at the Brooks - the rubbing with the Boston 12s was just too much even only 15 miles but that part of the shoe was going to get any softer. I have some Salomon Ultraglide 2s for trails and so far so good. It’s a pain because I have to check them out in person so buying online can be a bit of a challenge. Thanks again and I’ll watch for the Brooks updates. Good luck to you 🏃🏻♂️
Ed, what brand are those boxes you have, I ordered some but didn't fit my size 11's and iirc that's the same as you.
Solecube. Just about ok for even a larger jordan
But what is the fastest colour of pro 3?
Always red
The Evo 1 sl and pro4 both are new compound of lightstrike pro..not the same lightstrike pro of past in either of those shoes..that was made very clear by adidas believe in the run and running warehouse from adidas themselves..pro3 was dual foams pressed this is one piece also..I disagree with ya..here edd
I bet it’s softer. It’s always softer
@@EDDBUD from what they said it gives off alot more rebound that previous..some people complained about feeling rods under feet believe in run said it wasn't the case ..I believe it's a more bounce and controled foam... also we have the adizero OG COMMING SOON ..BASED OFF OF THE OG RUNNING FLATS THAT HAVE WON RECORDS THREW ITS EXISTENCE AND HERITAGE..CHECK OUT AUBREYS NEWEST VIDEO TO GET A LOOK AT IT..
The EVO SL has the exact same lightstrike pro foam which is in the AP3
@adamdawes9085 not true that was asked in video premiering shoes by adidas....wah wah wah.
@@iconik-cn5rm okay well see 🙃
Love On the Beach. For the Turnstiles is one of my go to campfire songs.
Such a cool sounding album. No filler too
Regular lightstrike 1 creases and dwarfs down in time… I guess LS 2.0 will too. Bit LS Pro doesn’t crease neither colapse over time.
Collapsing means changing geometry too. I own a Boston 11, 10mm drop by specs, the heel is so down now it feels like a 4mm drop. Accommodating your feet and stride can be good.
But all LSPro foam shoes are guaranteed not deformed.
All in all I really enjoy my B11 with low drop... it may be a Frankenstein marketwise, but to me it's very fun to use and frontfoot encouraging (I'm more midfoot striker, and heelstriker when exhausted).
But in the other hand that's why I'm very interested at the Evo SL. And why it will be so different from SL2 - wich I believe will deform over time too.
But it seems to me SL2 has less structure than B11, and since I mildly pronate, over time it may ruin the show.
I'm definitely looking forward to Evo SL 🥰😍
Pro 4 looks to address the lacing which I have a little problems with the 3's. It looks like the 4's foam is a little squishier than the 3's, and the rocker starts earlier in the shoe closer to the mid foot, thus I take it a faster shoe to move you through your stride, however they are still heavier than the Sky Paris. Would like to buy the 4's but I have done my PB's in the sky's (eclipsing the times I had in the pro 3's for my mid to longer distance runs) Not sure how forgiving they would be in a marathon later miles when form may become tired etc. Of which I'm doing two (maybe three next year). I can wait since the pro 4's don't come to the states til 2025, and sometimes they go on sale shortly after release (promos) but may just get a second pair of the sky's
Those lace loops. Never understood why they had those
Looks more like pro 3 with better upper and no carbon plate. For £100 less!
Yes that’s my point here. The evo sl is so close to the pro 3 minus the rods
Nice🎉
Interested to see what the Evo SL will be. Got the new SL2, love it. Hoping the Evo SL might be a fast plateless tempo shoe. Might time well if my current shoes die by then but will wait for the reviews before jumping on any of these 👍
Remember the Pegasus plus. Everyone wants a plateless shoe till they get it.
Gimme both adidas. Doesn’t the evo sl have a plate and not rods?
Nah no plate or anything.
Your vids are always a fun and interesting watch!
Glad you like them!
I’m a yay on the 1080 and both adidas shoes. 😂
Reading some of these comments from butt hurt people bothered that Edd hasn’t gone all goo goo gah gah over the Evo SL and the Pro 4 has me a little vexed. So he’s not that excited at the prospect of dropping £220+ of his own money on the Pro 4? It’s his money and that’s his choice and it’s his opinion. He’s not dictating to anyone else how to spend their money ffs.
We seem to be at a point over the last year where so many UA-cam reviewers are getting so many freebies from brands from shoes to attending majors all expenses paid and we’re supposed to believe that this has zero impact on their reviews? Please. So many of these so called independent reviews are nothing more than glorified advertisements for those brands.
I’m actually excited about the Pro 4 and the SL Evo, but I’m also fully aware that i probably won’t have the earth credits to justify buying both (like many people the cost of living means I’m on a budget ), and so I’m more likely to take notice of someone talking about these shoes who is also having to consider spending their own money on them simply because we don’t all work for Running Warehouse or have sub elite marathon times and therefore get all our stuff sent to us for free.
I do get some free shoes to test. But there are a number of brands including Nike, adidas, new balance and Hoka that send me nothing. Maybe you could say the big ones!
YAY for the Adidas Evo SL
Puma seems nice to winter running here in 🇫🇮
Ideal for our winter slosh fest here
Loved my Puma disc trainers I’m definitely picking up a pair
Fond memories of my mate with those discs!
@@EDDBUDcould’ve done with them pumas on my Norfolk coastal half there was some boggy bits that my poor xodus ultras got submerged in slop and gained extra 100g weight 😂
Thank you, Edd.
Very welcome
Hi Edd Midsoleski, are you Russian?
No
@@EDDBUD He's Polish, ski is Polish not Russian
@@macewindex564 I am proudly EU. 🇪🇺
Bet you get a pair of adios pro 4 😉😂
I will down the line. Just not super hyped
Evo SL is going to be a huge hit. And I LOVE that they put a more traditional inner heel collar, which will hopefully stop heel lift issues seen with their split bumper design they use in the Boston 12 / AP V3/4.
Interested in the Evo SL, less so the Pro 4, but only because I have a pair of Pro 3’s that I snagged for £150 ready and waiting for the current ones to run out.
Epiphone comparison will be lost on most people 😂🎸
Good spot! Those that know, know.
@@EDDBUD I used to have a lovely Epiphone Les Paul, black with silver pickups. Sold it, always regretted it. 🙁
How can you say a shoe is going to be good or not when they aren't even released?
Did you listen to the start?!
Sorry dude I couldn't resist 😁

@@EDDBUD 🦁
Got to give credit to adidas in their marketing with the Pro 4 - send a boat load of influencers out to Berlin to run round in the Pro 4 and define "Coming Soon" not like next week but 1st Jan to actually buy them. Still I feel it is a shoe I will want to try and probably the Evo SL as well although maybe adidas are starting to confuse again so many shoes that all do similar ish things. The Turbo Shield I actually ran a full marathon in training in them and bizarrely it is the exact same weight as the Peg Plus. That's "progress" for you. Yeah NB1080 - I had the v10 but those max stack soft shoes are always a good 400g in my size and not sure they really make running easy really easy as a result.
The turbo shield and Pegasus plus the same weight?! That is funny. If lightstrike pro “new” is softer then why bother with the pro evo 1?
@@EDDBUD yeah the actual Turbo 2 is about 55g ligher than the Plus for me so the "Shield" bit seems to even it out! That said am enjoying the Plus and it is certainly not "heavy". I do feel the Pro 4 is a bit like the Saucony one - it is now very much the 2nd best racing shoe from adidas but pitched to be more affordable and more to "normal" runners not elites or those who get lucky in the draw. As for softness - is soft faster/better - not a given but hard to say with any authority without having experienced them. All if I do know is that regular Lightstrike 2 is softer than the very dense initial version was and for the good there.
@@TimGrose yeah LS 2 was a big improvement. Much better than the rock hard original stuff! Though even that had different softness ratings if I recall
