Thank you. I uninstalled current iTunes version in 2023 and installed iTunes 11 and it works for iPod Touch 1st Gen.

Thank you for this video it set me on the right path and now I have a working iPod Touch.
To those with an iPod Touch 1st Gen and with firmware 1.1.5 you need to do it with iTunes 7.5 or lower (Mine worked with 7.4)
You might also need to spin a Windows XP Virtual Machine for it to install properly. Even with compatibility mode, all my installations failed.
@John Savii I think if you put the iPod into restore mode you should be able to select the 1.1.5 firmware from the list.
I was having the error code 5 on WIN10 64-bit with iTunes 11.01. I used an old laptop and, loaded WIN7 32-bit and, downloaded the 1_3.1.3 firmware he provided in the description. Worked like a champ!! Hope this helps.. If you don't want to do the WIN7 machine, just cancel the install when prompted to do the update from apple. Hold the shift key down and click the restore button, then select the 1_3.1.3 version, it may work under WIN10. I have not tried., Good luck!

Thank you! I would never guess I would find such a video in 2020... I've recently got an iPod touch like that one from a friend and it was never updated to iOS 2/3 and when I plugged it in iTunes 12 strangely enough prompted me to restore the iPod back to iOS 1.1.5 instead of 3.1.3 as I expected. That was a nice surprice since I wish I could let it remain "unupdated". Then it came across error 5 and I thought exacly what you did and went looking for old iTunes installer files online. My question is: if I download iTunes 7.4 from September 2007, wonder if I could restore it to iOS 1.1 and let the 3.1.3 update aside?

I've been getting error code 1611 and I decided to try the same approach with an old Dell computer I had lying around and i also used an OLDER version of windows and it actually worked!

It really worked on my ipod touch 1g, the link for firmware in not working but I’ve downloaded it from another website from google and then tried the second way and it worked perfectly 👌🏻
But there’s one thing if anyone ipod last was on ios3.1.3 then he must download the same version like i did too and download the old version of itunes also

i think not man, i started the instalation of this version 11 of itunes and my win10 bugs very hard, my inferior bar just dissapear, i restart my computer and its ok, but i not try the installatin in this machine again, i have a older computer with win 7 and i gone test in this machine.

I'm having a constant iTunes error 1611 while trying to restore this $8 iPod touch 1g I got at a thrift store. I followed your steps on how to install the older iTunes and I'm using the Whitedoor 3.1.3 firmware. It eventually shows a progress bar on the iPod and then iTunes says "preparing iPod for restore" for a minute or two but shortly afterwards it throws it back into dfu and says "An unknown error occurred (1611). Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
First the iPod 1G is made on the year that Computer was running 32 bit Windows which 64 bit was Rare at that time, that means iPod 1G driver was made for 32 bit windows, So Restore using 64 bit iTunes 11 in 64 bit Windows is IMPOSSIBLE and Cause 1611 error due to incompatible driver, You MUST install iTunes 11 32 Bit and Windows 7 32 bit for safety reason (also because this had XP Mode which important to downgrade OS)

3.1.3 OS Server is DEAD, You Won't ever be able to Update it through Apple Server, You Can Only use IPSW file to update it, However 3.1.3 not really stable, my iPod 1G 32GB is reboot at certain times, with WhiteDoors Custom ROM or Original IPSW

This happens a lot to those old devices. Try to fix it with "3u tools“. Download the program - connect your iPod - hit exit recovery mode. That’s the easiest way

Hi, yesterday I fished an old iPod 1G (A1213) from a dumpster, trying to get it working.
First off, I think the battery is dead. Does not power on at all unless plugged in. When it's plugged it normally and I power it on, it just shows the Apple logo and shuts off. When I hold down the power and home buttons for like 20 seconds I get the screen at 0:15.
I found the ISPW for iOS 3.1.3, it's not the whited00r firmware though. When I try to install it with iTunes 12 I get error 1603. I will try downgrading and installing the whited00r firmware.

there is a better option than the one mentioned in the video which is to use a mac and with the ipsw of the ios that we want, we simply do everything from finder and that is how I did it and now I have my ipod touch with ios 3.1.3 and jailbreak

Sombre arnaque. Le prix est donné en HT et un iPod verrouillé avec perte de code donc bloqué que j'ai acheté neuf à sa sortie en 2006, jamais démonté est impossible à réparer avec ce logiciel. Passez votre chemin pour éviter de perdre 60€ !
You have to down grade. As no 1st generation touch supports these new apps. You have to install the older version of iTunes. Then turn off all automatic sync options. To manual...
Then install the original firmware. As 3.1.3 was a paid upgrade..Which is no longer supported.. So you had to have purchased it years ago...
