Took 3 attempts, but I finally got my Touch up and going. Thing's been bricked in DFU/restore mode for years, never thought I'd see it working again. Shame it's not running 1.1 anymore, but hey, at least it's running. Thanks for the clearest and most concise vid on this topic
The Mohave (10.14) process worked with High Sierra (10.13) as well! Thanks for restoring my late life partner's faithful companion -- it's been sitting in a drawer since she passed 12 years ago. She always had music playing (an eclectic, multi genre mix, heavy on the opera) whenever she was working, both in her home office and her office at the college (classics professor, Agnes Scott). Unfortunately the restore process didn't retain any of the iPod's music files, but I have her iTunes folder on a disk somewhere, and it will be a joy to revisit her collection and put it back on its home! Endless appreciation!

I just found your channel. I have a iPod 1st gen. That had a synch problem. Could not add anything. Because when I plugged it into my intel Mac running 10.12 I got a splash screen that said basically. Take it in for repair. Then I found this channel and 20 minutes later. My beautiful iPod was functioning fine. I dusted off my trusty iBook G4 and the rest is happy history. Thank you so very much. I love the fact that you have tons of Mac stuff laying about. So do I
Great video EOE. Old macs are especially useful for this, and anything running iTunes 9 through iTunes 11 (as shown in the video, even PowerPC macs can work) should restore with the ipsw without too much hassle. I've found that even if your old mac isn't connected to the internet, once it finishes restoring with an ipsw file, connecting it to the latest version of iTunes will allow you to then fully activate it.
The cheapest macs available that would work for this are probably intel Mac Minis or intel iMacs that can run mac os 10.6.8 which can only update iTunes to 11.4, which is good since iTunes 12 is what tends to cause the glitch where dfu mode won't work in my experience.
I legit followed after you said PowerPC Mac. Good to know someone remembers what a real Mac is supposed to be. If it doesn’t have a RISC CPU I barely consider it a Mac at this point
I've seen so many eBay listings for 1st gen iPod touch marked as "faulty" just because of this. Good thing we can still get these up and running!

The procedure I'm going to describe I've only done on a 7th generation iPod and I don't know if it will work on other models.
In Windows (10 or 11) with itunes open, right where there is a window with the restore button, press and hold the shift button and click on the restore button, a windows explorer window will open where you can select the ipsw file
Is this the process for downgrading an OS on an iPod Touch also? Just use an older IPSW file? Would love a video on that too.
my i pod off because it was off when i was restoring it. but after hours when i press the power button it only brings the apple icon and don't get into settings or in. how can i make it work

Not tech savvy so I not sure why my 3uTools cannot view the 3.1.3 file you show at 4:49. The file is definitely in the downloaded folder but does not show up when importing :/

Can you recommend a Windows 11 app that can transfer music from PC to iPod touch 2nd gen? I'm a Linux user who has access to WIndows 11 laptop. iTunes crashes after 2/3 songs and says it cant communicate with the ipod.
My Ipod 1st gen has been bricked in the connect to Itunes thing as long as I've had it, and I hope this helps.

This model can be restored normally through iTunes. No special steps needed. It works like it’s supposed to.

- Make a tutorial of how to fix the iPod touch 2G stuck in DFU/Recovery Mode (I’ve tried countless times with other tutorials here on UA-cam) or
- Help me via a platform like AnyDesk?.. 😬😅
I know it’s too much to even ask for help on AnyDesk especially but the thing is;
The iPod 2G, I have belongs to an aunt who isn’t necessarily tech savvy as such she never backed up any files to iTunes/iCloud.
She has pictures of a trip to the Middle East with her (late husband) - which she treasures dearly. So I need to exit recovery mode on the iPod touch 2G without erasing any precious data.
For context, I use a beat up MacBook Pro mid 2012, which I tweaked/upgraded both software and hardware wise. I’m currently running MacOS Sonoma so I’ve tried downloading iTunes 12.7 which is failing to install because of the current OS I’m running - (I’m scared to downgrade to an older OS cz, it’s tedious and I would probably f it up 😅)

You MUST!!!!!!!!!! take iTunes 12.6.5 under Windows. Then you can restore your iPod. Problem solved.
Just ordered a bunch of parts from you. The faceplate you sent me is defective. It is badly bulged and there is a gap between the clear screen and the coloured faceplate. I've emailed you about this twice and I've contacted you through your website. No response from you. Your response times are terrible. I expect better. You should have replied within 24 hours by telling me that you've sent a replacement that you've personally inspected for defects.
Until the defective part is replaced or my order refunded I will be leaving these comments on all your videos to warn people not to order from you.
