Haha, I was here in this video. Do you remember the 2020 Grey Honda Civic Type R that broke down. I am the drivers son! LOL. We was on holiday and all your crew helped push it.
My experience of the my Yaris T Sport (5 door facelift) has been overall brilliant, especially considering it's nearly 20 years old. Absolutely no major rust whatsoever, just the odd bit of surface rust, the engine is bulletproof too, 70k miles and it is absolutely not showing any signs of age whatsoever. In terms of how it drives, it's a very fun little car, takes corners effortlessly and I totally agree with u about the gearbox, absolutely smashing! At first, I disagreed with your statements on the power delivery, but no. I had the AC condenser replaced, and some other AC related stuff, and it noticeably has more poke, and it seriously does pull hard even at high revs. Before it felt anaemic above 5.5k rpms, now it still pulls above 6k. I'm chuffed to bits a viral content creator like u has acknowledged this car!
@@SueKeeper both are good cars though! With the Yaris probably being more reliable and newer for people not as mechanically minded but still want to have some fun!
Lift off oversteer is a rather prominent danger on these models. I have driven many hatchbacks, but this platform is the only one that loves throwing it's back around. Had it happen on two different models, despite not driving agressively.
Owned my yaris t sport phase 2 for just over 2 years and absolutely luv it. Over 40mpg air con and amazing boot space the only thing I'd luv would be a 6th gear but apart from that it's one of the best cars I've owned and I only paid £800 for it 😬
Amazing car, reliable. Cheap. I have usual 1.0L version, 167 000km on the odo, but with AC, electrical windows, central remote locking and rear disc brakes (bought for $1500).
Fiat Panda 100HP needs to be part of the conversation. I reckon it's better than the Yaris, very similar ptw, better looks, better sound, corners better too. I might be biased though as I've got one...
Fn2 civic type r too, The most hated type r, higher ptw then both Yaris and panda, nicer day to day. And really not that much money ATM, with way more of them for sale.
I had a Honda Jazz 2015 1.3l as my first car and it also had 100 bhp. It was a reasonably fun car to drive, especially revving the engine out as that's where it made most of its power. The ride was a bit firm, but it handled well. Insurance was super cheap too and i got 55mpg on the motorway. Ended up upgrading a to a Golf GTI which of course was way better but still like the honda jazz for what it was.
Gotta love sending the smaller cars round B-roads. I've fond memories of nearly writing the fabia off while flying over Rivi with you chasing me in the C1 lol
I've had mine since 2021. From the factory the chassis is a bit average. It has the short wheelbase and light weight, but soft lacklustre suspension heavily biased to understeer. Sort it out with a rear anti-roll-bar, axle bushes and lowering and suddenly it all clicks. I don't have the greatest car experience, but you can *place it*, on the road like nothing I've ever driven. They're not fast, but my god are they agile. Mine has a custom intake setup that dynoed at 128hp, really opens the top end up 😁 They're really not a hot hatch though - more of a warm hatch that was so brilliant it frequently gets compared to contemporary hot hatches. It gets 50mpg on a run and comes within a whisker of an ST150 in a sprint to 60.
Nice video. I imagine you'd like the panda 100 and r50 mini for similar power to weight ratios & fun NA power. I think theres a sub class called 'warm hatches' that describe these cars perfectly. For the same money I'd rather an r53 supercharged mini but you'd defintiely not have the same reliability.
Do me a favour try the yaris sr 1.8 with 130hp. My mate used to have one of those, reckons it went toe-to-toe with a Swift Sport and even bested some Fabia VRS

I've got what's probably the modern equivalent of this, the Hyundai i10 N Line. 100hp and 1000kg on the nose, lovely short-throw manual, bit of a louder exhaust and stiffer suspension from factory, darty as hell and it's about as much fun as you can have in a car on the road. Plasticy, too small to fit anything in the back of, but I absolutely love it! It'll also sit comfortably on the motorway doing 50mpg, can't ask much more.
The Citroen C2 Vts is the best value hot hatch, 1.6 16v 125 bhp. Nearly bought one recently only a grand.. the Yaris tsport is a warm hatch not a hot hatch..
