Moog Sound Studio Modular Ambient Jam (Mother-32, DFAM, Subharmonicon)

- For this piece, I wanted to create a tape-like crackle layer with the DFAM which is totally doable if you use white noise and incoming random voltage from the Mother-32. You might need headphones to really hear the effect as I wanted to keep it subtle.
This was layered with the Subharmonicon doing a chord progression, and the Mother-32 doing its generative thing.

Moog should be paying you commission. I’m about to order one after watching these jams
Would be nice right! 😜
I'm super convinced too, these are some powerful devices and they create wonderful soundscapes.
Just bought one ☝️ love the jams keep them coming, they are back order till mid July. I’m sure it’s a learning curve to get started any advice for the first few weeks?
I just got a subharmonicon and can’t wait to hook it up with my Mother 32 and Dfam.
This was amazing beautiful! Seldom to hear!
I enjoy your jams so much. They're self contained worlds and so evocative!
I love the track
Please make more. I need more.
I would pay you for tutoring. The way you program this lovely machine is impressive.
Voll schön...
A good friend of mine referred me to your channel. It is inspiring to hear the soundscapes you’ve created. Well done.
This is great 😼👍
One of the few ambient synth videos where i have made it to the end. Great job!
Thanks for listening! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is great and inspiring! Recently bought a Subharmonicon! Looking forward to adding it to the setup!
Amazing! So wish I could see the patch for this. Great work!
Beautiful! I have the Moog Studio 3 on my wishlist. Waiting for my tax return.
nice
Love this! Think you just sold me on the three.
Brilliant👏👏👏👏👏👏
Heavenly - Subed / Liked 😘
I’ve been debating picking up this trio for the last week but just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Until now.
Beautiful, thank you!
Glad you like it! Thank you ☺️🙏
I love this one from your sets, thank you for sharing.
Seriously - this is pure brilliance
Thank you!
Really good music as usual. I put it on to take a chill and I feel so much better. I could totally do an hour at a time FYI. Thank you.
I appreciate that, thank you!
Beautiful 👍
This makes me feel like an aquatic ape collecting bananas and riding swordfish.
I like that 🥳😂
I get the feelz too man...even the nostalgic reference too!
Hey Ab, that is a real beautiful track❤ thanks for sharing
Hi, your composition is a masterpiece. Congratulations to it.
I will receive my Moog sound studio on Friday. Lately my wife bought a Moog Theremini. I'm really exited playing the Theremini and sending CV control commands from my Theremin play to the sound studio for dynamically changing the sound of the 3 synthesizers.
This is epic! Amazing work 👏
This is great. Beautiful sound from those 3 moogs.
Feel like I could listen to this for hours
Thanks! ☺️🙏
They really should be paying you for what you’re doing this is wild man. I hope you use these for licensing opportunities, you have money shooting out of these machines. More please!
Lovely and thanks for sharing! I read the Hologram Microcosm, RE-201 Space Echo and the Eventide Space are used. But, do you have any "raw" recordings uploaded?
Beautiful and calming
Glad you enjoyed this! 🙏
Sold. This is really beautiful. Nice job.
Thank you!
Perfect. Thanks for demo
Thanks!
This was my wake up jam today, love it! :)
Thanks!👌🏼😎
beautiful!
🙏🖤
Very very very good. Thanks.
Thank you very much!
Schön🙏
Amazing
Thanks!
Moog definitely should do some sponsoring for you. Based on some research and a few of your productions and advice, I bought the M-32 for the sound and the simplicity (which is still sophisticated to me). the manual is pretty good, especially for a newbie as it explains the terms. VCO, VCF, VCA KB, LFO etc. and how to use them. Just got good speakers and cabling, up to the sequencer instructions and looking forward to being able to create my own sounds. "IF" I can do that, Subharmonicon next. I'm setting up on the "cabin" and lately it's cold. Newbie tip - let the Mother warm up 5 - 10 minutes before starting out.
Thank you for beautiful music and good advice. Moog, are you listening?
Love it 👌
Thank you!
Its really epic
Thanks, glad you like it!
Amazing music!! Subscribed to listen more of your work!!
Thanks for the support!
@@ab85music Thanks for the music!!
Dope!
Thank you!
This is such a moving example of what can emotionally be accomplished with electronic music. Is there any effects externally being used or is all sound coming from the units?
Hey Marty I had the moog synths a while ago and there is definitely at least some nice reverb, to spice them up
This is incredible! I wish you would explain how you created this. As in patches, sequence length, sequence notes, etc. Great stuff!
Excellent. New subscriber!
Thanks for the support!
😊😊😊
This is so great, do you have a template for this one? I would love to replicate something like this
This is really good, wow! Love whats happening with your dfam, what is it patched to? Tempo(?) from what??
I was just going to get dfam and subh, but after i’ve seen this i think i have to get this trio! Wonderful and thanks for this!
Thanks! The trio is definitely worth it!
Great sound! I’m currently adding to my Moog arsenal. Can you tell me if each of the three units here are recorded in its own track or are all three separate in your mixer?
I’m really enjoying this recording. I picked up the Moog trilogy setup a while back and I can spend hours on end when I can afford the time. My question for you is, are you deliberate in your approach to ideas as in do you start with a chord progression or musical motif in your head and launch from there? or do you find yourself building something from a happy accident? I think either approach is just as relevant as the other because it’s the outcome we all listen to when it’s finished.
Thanks! Well I do have a systematic approach in the beginning, thereafter I let the instruments guide me, and follow what I feel. It’s a harmonious thing if that makes any sense.
@@ab85music Whats your systematic approach at the beginning?
Whych one of those would you recommend for drones, pads and ambiance sounds. I own a Dfam and thinking to get one of those. I'm in heavy industrial stuff and looking for to add some dark, disonant layers to my mixes. Thx!
Very nice! Did you sequence this or are you playing it with a midi keyboard?
Thank you! No external sequencing, I do all my sequences using only my Moog synthesizers. 😊
Really great track: everything sounded planned and musical, rather than the random bleep and bloops that it is so easy to fall into. Great job
Thank you for the words! 🙏
😎
☺️🙏
any chance we could get a patch layout?
👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😁😁
Thank you 🙏
Hi, bravo!! So, is the Subharmonicon able do a chord? 3 notes chord? Thanks ;)
Yes it’s able to chords. Complex ones as well ;)
Is it midi controlled ? Where do the chord changes come from?
No MIDI actually, and the chord changes are from the Subharmonicon. ☺️
I'm in another place and all is well.
Thank you 🌌🖤
Beautiful and inspiring. What's the learning curve on the Moog sound studio? I have a music background but am new to synths.
Thank you, much appreciate it! I think it’s very straightforward, Moog has an amazing way of teaching you how to start with the Moog Sound Studio by including pamphlets (patch notes) when purchasing. Besides great tutorials that they host online.
@@ab85music I have played drums and some bass but I am a complete idiot when it comes to music theory, recording and arranging. However my biggest dream is to master synths and create stuff like this and what State Azure does. A music shop has a bundle deal for DFAM + either Subharmonicon or Mother-32. I wanna buy one of those bundles so bad.. But I'm afraid I will just get completely lost and not get it and let it collect dust in my room...
@@toxendon I understand, my advice has always been to go for the 'less is more' approach. Start with just one module and master it completely. Focused attention until you've pushed as much as possible out of it until buying the next.
I would recommend starting with the M-32- There are great tutorials online, and Moog includes wonderful patch notes in their boxes (and on their site) for you to practice with.
@@ab85music Thank you for the advice, I think I might go for that!
@@toxendon Life is short so I sure hope you got started. You would be amazed how much you can accomplish in 10 months since you posted.
Love that sound!
What effects machine do you use?
I’m torn (can’t decide what to buy) between eventide H9, and Strymon Big sky.
Thanks! For this piece I used the Hologram Microcosm, RE-201 Space Echo and the Eventide Space.
Are fuckin kidding me. This is CGI
