Moog Sound Studio Modular Ambient Jam (Mother-32, DFAM, Subharmonicon)

  • For this piece, I wanted to create a tape-like crackle layer with the DFAM which is totally doable if you use white noise and incoming random voltage from the Mother-32. You might need headphones to really hear the effect as I wanted to keep it subtle.
    This was layered with the Subharmonicon doing a chord progression, and the Mother-32 doing its generative thing.

    I will receive my Moog sound studio on Friday. Lately my wife bought a Moog Theremini. I'm really exited playing the Theremini and sending CV control commands from my Theremin play to the sound studio for dynamically changing the sound of the 3 synthesizers.

    Moog definitely should do some sponsoring for you. Based on some research and a few of your productions and advice, I bought the M-32 for the sound and the simplicity (which is still sophisticated to me). the manual is pretty good, especially for a newbie as it explains the terms. VCO, VCF, VCA KB, LFO etc. and how to use them. Just got good speakers and cabling, up to the sequencer instructions and looking forward to being able to create my own sounds. "IF" I can do that, Subharmonicon next. I'm setting up on the "cabin" and lately it's cold. Newbie tip - let the Mother warm up 5 - 10 minutes before starting out.
    Thank you for beautiful music and good advice. Moog, are you listening?

    Great sound! I’m currently adding to my Moog arsenal. Can you tell me if each of the three units here are recorded in its own track or are all three separate in your mixer?

  • @bobs906
    @bobs906 2 роки тому

    I’m really enjoying this recording. I picked up the Moog trilogy setup a while back and I can spend hours on end when I can afford the time. My question for you is, are you deliberate in your approach to ideas as in do you start with a chord progression or musical motif in your head and launch from there? or do you find yourself building something from a happy accident? I think either approach is just as relevant as the other because it’s the outcome we all listen to when it’s finished.

    • @ab85music
      @ab85music  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks! Well I do have a systematic approach in the beginning, thereafter I let the instruments guide me, and follow what I feel. It’s a harmonious thing if that makes any sense.

      @@ab85music I have played drums and some bass but I am a complete idiot when it comes to music theory, recording and arranging. However my biggest dream is to master synths and create stuff like this and what State Azure does. A music shop has a bundle deal for DFAM + either Subharmonicon or Mother-32. I wanna buy one of those bundles so bad.. But I'm afraid I will just get completely lost and not get it and let it collect dust in my room...

    • @ab85music
      @ab85music  2 роки тому +2

      @@toxendon I understand, my advice has always been to go for the 'less is more' approach. Start with just one module and master it completely. Focused attention until you've pushed as much as possible out of it until buying the next.
