I’m nearly finished with the video and look forward to watching the end, but Petrik Leo is chatting with some chap named John Gwynne in a minute. Heard of him? I thought it might be worth tuning in . . . Thank you so much, gents, for the kind words about Return to Edan, which I actually did write for readers like you. I’m incredibly honored that you two have read The Edan Trilogy, and I can’t thank you enough for your support!
Hmmmm I wonder who that is..... sounds like it could be an interesting chat.... as always, it should be us thanking you for an utterly enthralling reading journey! Will
Great video as usual lads. Your praise for the Daughter’s War has catapulted it up my TBR. I didn’t love the Blacktongue Thief as much as I thought I would, so hoping this is a step up.
Always love the banter between you two, this was such a good video. “Let’s not upset me” is gonna be what I say on a daily basis now when people try to talk to me 😅
I finished reading We Are The Dead the other week and felt so smug when I got the 'it goes out with a bang' reference! Also, I'm now off to buy The Daughter's War, you've convinced me!
That's an absolutely phenomenal list!! Loving all the Abercrombie love, and that Gorst imitation had me cackling 🤣 Also very worthy honourable mentions! And will never get enough of hearing you guys talk about how special your dad's works are to you, they deserve all the love and hype!
Just got my first Abercrombie book for my birthday 👍🏻 have a few of these on my tbr, which I can't wait to start. 😂 Once you said the David Beckham thing, I couldn't unhear it 😂😂
Love all those on here that I’ve read! The Heroes might be my favorite Abercrombie book too, and Gorst was so fantastic, and I might’ve died and gone to reading heaven when Abercrombie pulled his head-hopping trick in the battle scene. And Fool’s Quest was indeed incredible, and I’m happy to see it shown some love since it gets lost in the shuffle as a middle book. While Ruin was fantastic, my favorite Papa Gwynne book has to be Wrath! What can I say, I’m a sucker for a great ending.
Tom Bombadil is not annoying! My dad bought me a book just with him and his songs and maybe an extra story when I was a teenager . I've still got it [I'm 61 now]
This might be a hot take but I liked Valour the most of any TFATF book. Something about the journey was just brilliant and immersed me like few other books, fantasy or not, have done. Meical said something to Corban toward the end and that line literally sent shivers down my spine.
When you talk of great villains, I can't wait until you read Liveship Traders. The other best villains I've read were actually in Faithful and the Fallen
I would say, if a book argument escalates to the point you two are going to do some kind of fighting, I would vote to keep the camera rolling and let us see what you two can do. Agree on the terms of the battle and weapon, have your dad moderate if needed; and give us a good reenactment battle. Your intro shows you two using swords & shields, plus I have heard your dad does reenactment. Could be great fun for us followers. :)
You can't trust much in this world, but you can trust Ed's hatred for the Silmarillion will never wane 😂 That scene in Valour made me cry too!! One of my favourite moments in the entire series! Papa Gwynne is number one for both of you 😮😮😮 I am so shocked! He totally deserves that spot, though
What a dang good list. A bold silmarillion take but in all honesty, not wrong at all. I also enjoyed the heroes of the standalones the most-though I’m in the middle of red country now. Hitting we are the dead in a small reading group! I fully expect to fall in love with it. I need to hit rage of dragons too I love the love for your father-honestly great takes too. Shadow of the gods was one of my intros into the genre… and I just could not put it down. Cheers gents!
Hahahaha Ed's number 2. I absolutely love Gorst's POV during that book. The narration was so damn amazing! I really loved The Heroes. I think I liked Best Served Cold for overall story+ plot in one novel. But the battle of the Heroes is simply untouched. It's an entire book of warfare and HOW terrible it really is! No book has ever done it that well. Was the quote for LAoK - You're the best man I know. I can't recall if that's in book 2 or 3. Book 2 Before they are Hanged is my absolute favorite out of all of them. Anyone who rates this book less than a 5 obviously missed everything that happened in how amazing it is haha. Definitely agree with Will. On a reread Jezals character growth was truly amazing. Great list guys! Can't wait to get to some of these!
Gorst is just the best isn’t he. Completely agree no book has come close to exploring the realities of war like The Heroes. Yes it was that quote! Book 3. Very emotional. Thanks for watching! Ed
Funny, i'm rather on Ed's side when it comes to favorite Abercrombie books (Last Argument of Kings and The Heroes were amazing, Before They Are Hanged was my second least enjoyable experience) but I wholeheartedly agree with Will that Jezal is the best character 🙂
Random Comment: I know you guys both love historical fiction. You NEED to read The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. I just finished it for the second time after reading it in high school and it’s fantastic. I know you’d love it!
I find it nigh on impossible to select favourite single fantasy books as because I’ve read so many long series, they tend to start melding into the grander story as time passes by! But if you want to know my favourite series check my first video out ;) But I am a Wheelie and a Hobb Knobber, and also a huge FTATF fan and Bloodsworn could easily make its way to my top 10 after Fury.
Ahh, you do great injustice to the Blacktongue Thief! Daughter’s War is NOT a stand-alone! Buehlman is writing book 3 right now and he stated it picks up where Blacktongue ended. His prose gets better with every book so I assume this last book of the planned trilogy will be the best of both.
Personally Will and I both connected with TDW over TBT! I feel the writing was far tighter, emotional and impactful. I still count TDW as a stand-alone if you want it to he, and a prequel if you want to read further. It’s very possible to read it on it’s own and still have the full impact. Agree his prose is getting better! Ed

What a line up of books.
Great choices and some absolute bangers in the honourable mentions.

Completely agree! Get how he is not for everyone, but I think he is great. Sounds like a great book!
Will
I AGREEEEEE I AM A TOM BOMBADIL STAND! I don’t know why people don’t like him. I think he’s awesome, funky, cryptic and mystical. He is an enigma.
#TeamBombadil
The Heroes is my favorite fantasy book of all time. The POV change chapter blew me away.
This might be a hot take but I liked Valour the most of any TFATF book. Something about the journey was just brilliant and immersed me like few other books, fantasy or not, have done. Meical said something to Corban toward the end and that line literally sent shivers down my spine.
Such an excellent list from both of you! 😊
Oh my god, I will never be able unhear that Ed sounds like David Beckham. He does! hahahah

Hahah, if it gets to that point... we will make sure to have evidence of the winner 🤣. Could get competitive.....

I think Heroes is also my favourite Abercrombie book. Ruin is my fave Gwynne book so far too.
You align with Ed for Abercrombie and me for Gwynne then :)!

I am 50 pages into MALICE and I am all ready in LOVE.
Soooooo glad you’re loving it!
Ed
Aw, man. How could you do my boy Ed like that by having him point in the upper corner and putting in the lower corner! LOL!
Hah a link to the video was meant to be appear in the top corner. Apologies we forgot to add it 🤣

"There was just debrie everywhere" 😂
😂😂
Does Ed like yellow books so much because they remind him of cheese?
Great list though, gents! Definitely some favourites of mine on there too!
0:55 im here for such petty trolling lol
Hahah, we cannot hide the brotherly (friendly?) digs 🤣
Will
😂😂 he got me.
Ed
The Silmarillion at #4 is such a hot take and a bad one. WOW!
God damn i’m wasted!
Also weird how i came here straight after the 2toramble before they were hanged video
I’m looking forward to watching their review!
Ed
you guys ever hear of Joe Abercrombie? You might like him
Hmmm.... who's that?
Will
Sorry guys - I'm following Dr. F over to Petrik's for Papa's interview - I'll come back I promise 😄😄
We don’t blame you! 😅
Ed

Storm of swords?? No Martin even in honorable mentions 😢
Good book! Just not our favourite 😊 Too many amazing books!
Ed
Austin from 2tR with an overly critical opinion of a book everyone loves?! No way?! 😅
Why not a single Sanderson Book?
We aren’t mad on his books.
Ed
Papa Gwynne

Gentlemen Bastards for the win. No contest 😂
Good books!
Ed
Going to have to cancel Ed for his blasphemous Silmarillion opinions. The Silmarillion is an unparalleled masterpiece. You're absolutely right, Will.
