It’s always fantastic to hear about what inspires the Brothers Gwynne! Great list so far, gents. Some you know I love, and others, like Sword of Kaigen and Kings of the Wyld, I need to get to. Thank you for the video!
I just started The Faithful and the Fallen, and I 100% agree with Ed, I’m 500 pages into Malice and I love everything about it!!!! The characters, plot, world, and good old politics/ backstabbing has got me on my toes and excited to see where this story goes! Not in a rush though, this seems like a savory type of story, will definitely take my time!
Really enjoyed this one, I loved We Are the Dead, keen to finish the trilogy early next year. Sword of Kaigen is on my TBR for next year as well.I can’t wait for the next video.
So glad you enjoyed the video! We Are the Dead is AWESOME! Hope you enjoy the rest of the trilogy, and The Sword of Kaigen. the very top of the fantasy pile will be revealed in our video hopefully next week :). Will
Reppin' the Snoop - that's what's up! Nice to see Gemmell get some love. Another author like Mary Renault who pre-dates UA-cam and thus gets very little of the deserved attention. I wish all the BookTubers would do a "good authors from before the UA-cam era" video. I read some fantastic stuff in the 90s that never gets talked about.
I thoroughly enjoy watching your vids, you guys have such a natural energy that is enjoyable. Empire of the Vampire is one of my fave series ever.. so good. I really want to get stuck into The Last War trilogy, am hearing lots of good things about it. It's just darn hard to get them all available, and in the same size.
I always overthink this 😂, but this is probably my Top 10: 1. Any of the Harry Potter books 2. Wrath by John Gwynne 3. The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan 4. Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb 5. Persepliquis by Michael J. Sullivan 6. Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss 7. The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams 8. The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie 9. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis 10. The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien This could change, but it’s what I could come up with.
Great list guys, just finished Faithful and the Fallen myself for the first time and I absolutely understand the love. Although to be fair I think Ruin and Valor were slightly better!
Man, "The Silence of the Girls" is SO dark, unglamourized and sadly quite realistic about the nature of War and "War Brides"...😔Just finished "Sword in the Storm" this Month (gonna me so hard choosing a "Book of the Month" with this and my current read, "Lustrum" by Robert Harris): The Character Work of Gemmell gets me everytime! I have to continue the "Rigante" series with "Midnight Falcon" as soon as possible!😄And I really hope to get to "We Are The Dead" sometime next year! Cheers, Lads!
Kings of the wyld is on my tbr. Malice 👌 Silence of the girls is waiting on my shelf. Enjoyed The Sword of Kaigen, hopefully the loose ends get tied up in the future. We are the dead is also waiting on my shelf. Empire of the vampire is on my list. Sword in the storm is on my list. I may never read GOT, come on George.
Thanks for your thoughtful response. I decided to delete my last comment because, while I feel strongly about EOTV and disagree with some of the points you made, I realize A) it’s not my place to try to change your mind about it, and B) I’d prefer to continue enjoying your content and your dad's books rather than engage in a discussion that might affect my enjoyment of either (especially bloodsworn!!!). Plus, I don’t usually comment online, so I feel a bit uncomfortable doing so. Anyway, I’m excited to read dreaming the eagle next, thanks to your recommendation in another video. Keep up the good content 👍
Hey, of course that's fine :). Really hope that you love The Fury of the Gods! Not long until release now.... Also, hope Dreaming the Eagle clicks with you like it did with us. It is also one of Papa Gwynne's favourite books..... Truth & Courage!
If you gents love a strong female character who has went through hell and high water.....I highly highly recommend Kian N. Ardalans_Eleventh Cycle Book 1 of the MistLand Series. I loved it. I emailed Kian, he emailed me back, and book 2 is for sure coming out :) Thanks guys for your awesome enthusiasm and love for reading / creating. I cant wait to own all of Papa Gwynns books :) ✌️ -JRoot

For those of us of a certain age, the '70s rock references in Kings of the Wyld are an added bonus.
I bet they are!
