Rainbow Trout are one of North America's most popular gamefish. Ice fishing for Rainbow Trout can be fun and effective as trout are active feeders throughout the winter months. Using sonar can greatly help to identify, target, and catch Rainbow Trout. In this video I target trout on a few selective gear rules lakes near my house using a Humminbird Helix 7 ice fishing sonar.

Rainbows really come in hot under the ice. I can always tell it’s a rainbow, because the mark will disappear and reappear a few times under my spoon on the sonar. I think that’s because they dart around so much
Cool. Where was this video when I started fishing?? Smash it on the bottom- after you draw them in- the smallest twitch, almost like vibrating, as you slowly reel up works real nice like.

With rainbows I’ve found that when they come up so aggressively like you had, I slow down the jigging and twitch it a little as a lot of times I’ve seen that Aggressively jigging seems to scare them off when they come to check it out. Also, they miss in the strike when the bait is bouncing up and down so hard.

When you are using barbless hook, removing the transducer gets tricky.
Does anyone on here know where I can find a chirp transducer for a humminbird helix, or know when they’ll be back in stock?
