Awesome video, as always! However, i see a lot of videos explaining what things are, where the boat is, what hard and soft bottom look like. I personally (and hope others as well) would love an explanation or a schooling on ok... i found that rock with fish on it. Now what? How do i waypoint it and navigate to a close enough casting distance, whats your bait of choice, how many casts or different baits until you give up on said fish, how to orientate yourself so you're casting at the object without livescope. Basically, the next step to this video without giving away all your secrets! Go DAWGS
This is a great vid! It’s the best I have seen on bottom contours, structure and actual fish. I found it extremely helpful. Thank you for the great info!
THE JUICE
Understanding your graphs!!
Love sonar videos! Thanks Gene
This is so great. Thank you Gene!
Thanks gene, just bought a 16ft Alumicraft semi v with a lowrance down imaging. This was very helpful.
Great vid, bruh'. I'll watch everyone of these types of video all day, every day.
It would be great to have a video on marking a waypoint with fish on it. Then navigate back to the waypoint and set up to fish it. I think utube has a couple of videos on this but not in a kayak. As u know a kayak has its advantages and disadvantages. Thanks for the info u share !!!! It is much appreciated!!!!
Awesome video, really needed this information
Great seeing you at the Boat, Sport, & Travel show! Was watching out for this video - love the material!
A video in depth showing what surface interference looks like and how to adjust your fishfinder to clear it up. Your videos are great but your set up is spot on. Maybe show more of what your missing on the fishfinder by not having it adjusted right. Also no one ever talks about when your in 12 ft of water and your sonar is only covering what about 10 to 15 ft or less of the bottom, we could be missing a lot, but using side scan is a broader area. Something else that is not talked about is as your pinging down, where are the fish entering the cone front back side etc. I know it is a snap shot but if you want to get on top of them it helps to know what direction they are going. Thanks I love your videos Sam
Thanks for the educational video. I'm learning. 👍
I love it! i just went from a garmin Striker 4 to a humminbird helix 7 msi g4n, so I've been learning a lot lately. maybe making a video on how to mark waypoints and how to position your kayak to fish them would be nice.
Great video I always learn something about fishing when I watch your videos and this video is very helpful to me
Great presentation for us beginners. Thank you! You can call your series "See and understand what the fish finder sees through my eyes".
Thanks for the video!
Been waiting for this video for years ;)
Love the video Gene! I struggle with finding fish with my hds live 7 so it is cool to see how you use yours.
Scanning with the Fluke Master! Love the videos.
I love this kind of video from you! I run ti2 finders ! So this helps a lot!

Very helpful !
this is good idea I'm excited for it.
Cool never knew how to read the fish finder! Interesting finding out what things are!
This is awesome thank you so much
Great video!!! The wonderful world of underwater
Thank you for teaching this I like to learn
Please keep it up, I have watch one training video on fish finders and left me a little confused over what I see on my finder. It sort of help me set it up but what I saw and what it looked like in video did not quiet match up.
My biggest problem is figuring out what is actually fish. Just found your channel looking for how to read a fish finder . Thanks for the great video.
Hey Gene, id really like to know your thoughts and opinion on the electronics usage in competitive bass fishing. Please and thank you!
Great information thanks for sharing looking forward to see more videos on this topic. Also maybe like you said use a pencil . And also an umbrella might help with glare on screen. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge
Hey Gene, are you gonna do any guide trips this spring?
Awesome video, how about boat positioning on casting to what your seeing...great job gene
Fish finder fundamentals
I think it's a great series and I would suggest a title like know you're sonar. Thanks Gene
I love the fishfinder Friday concept. What I would really like to know is what stuff should I way point. I always see thing and it might be an individual thing and never know if I should mark it for a later date. The other thing, I see fish around something non descript. Do I mark that or is it just fish traveling. Hopefully you can answer some questions like that.
Keep it up. You have become my fishing mentor!
Excellent teaching video and a series would be a great idea. I suggest calling it “See what I see” those are your words in the video.
Thanks Gene great video. Fish finders for dummies. I read a lotion books with that title. For Dummies "" wouldn't insult me. I don't have side scan and it good to see the possibilities.
Love it. How’s the swimbait game going?
Hey Gene. Great video. Hey man what happened to Friday night live? Always looked forward to Friday nights. Miss the chats.
Absolutely awesome video! If a black background could be rigged up to minimize the reflection, more detail might be evident. As far as a name for this series, maybe something along the lines of “ opening your 3rd eye with fish electronics “
Love this series of videos you’re creating. Stupid attempt at a name, In Depth (because depth finder).
Hoping you’ll cover some of these in future videos.
* What is all the interference on 2D? Trolling motor washout?
* Explain frequency and when to use which one.
* How to tell the difference between fish or bait balls and interference
* More in depth on how to tell if something is a stump or brush pile etc
* How to tell if something is bait fish or just the bottom like at 16:50.
Just simply "Fish Finder Fishing" as opposed to 'forward facing fishing' ... just a play on "FFF" current nomenclature.🙃 OH ... Great video!
Maybe this is already in the works but I'm curious if you can compare si and di low frequency vs hi frequency over the same imagine? This is a great knowledge transfer on how to read electronics. Thank you
Gene, I was having a hard time following why images went left to right when you would turn. I am a complete novice hence why I watch. When you said you were turning 90 degrees left, it helped by knowing what you were actually doing. Still asking myself how the hell that looks like anything in particular . As for a name, for people like me....Fish Findin' for Dummies. I mean it, I am lost as an easter egg. I watch a lot of your stuff and have gone from telling people if I had to fish to eat, I would starve to now I am catching more and more. So thank you.
I like the concept. It's always a bit of a struggle to know what I'm looking at so this helps. Please do some time on natural lakes too. So much content like this is focused on reservoirs with road beds and man made structure.
I wish we had a natural lake around here but I’ll probably be heading up north in the late summer this year and I’ll do several of these videos while I’m there
It was a great video but I still don't know how you can tell what is what on some of it the rock the trees and the creek I can see may if I had one to use it might be able to read it thank you the information
Good content. Intro to electronics.
Good video. How about calling it ( Looking beyond the surface ) just a thought.
Can you add what specific setting you use for each view? I have an hds9 and get no where near the clarity you have on yours on my down and side imaging! Thanks!
Awesome idea! Thank you for sharing... "Forward Facing Fridays" j/k 🤣
Great video. What are you looking at!

Thank you for this video! I have purchased a used bass boat and I cant catch crap! 😂 my son and I end up using a can of worms and just pound the bank because I cant read the fish finder. My boat is blue so instead of a bass boat I just call it the bluegill!
This series should be called "Gene Jensen's Screen Attention."
“Forward facing Fridays” lol
My question is where do you cast?
Freqy Friday!
Do them on Tuesdays or Thursdays and call Tech Thursday. Or any day and call it graphing for dummies
Sonar School would be kinda catchy.
I don't understand how you can know how far to turn to go directly over the rocks and trees without marking it on side scan
