I agree, I think the box score layout needs to be revamped because the NBA in the last 10 years has gone towards analytics and it often does a better job at painting the right picture of what's impacting the actual game.
Yes. But we also shouldn’t worship analytics, make them the best all end all. But yes. Need better stat insights providing analysis
Plus minus/net rating already catches a lot of impact a player has. It gets better with a larger sample size ofcourse. What i used to do when i was a coach is to count "key passes" -> passes that led to a good shot. Now you also get an "assist" if the shot is missed. It made the team more willing to pass
@@newagain9964 I completely agree, stats shouldn't be the most important thing but it's certainly very important especially now.
Yeah, and travelling should be a stat
@@CLYMA1.5CHAINZ travelling falls under turnovers because you can only travel when you have possession of the ball so when it's called it results in a turnover so it's already accounted for.
Screen Assist (+Teammate Chemistry)
Facts
True, but a player's agent can't really negotiate his contract on abstract concepts.
@@mc76it’s a 2k reference old man😭
Interesting thought on screen assists! Would help casuals view players in more positive light if it was stat. I looked up leaders and Kings dominate this category. Sabonis leads league in screen assists per game & his backup Len leads in league in screen assists per 48 min (min 100 minutes)
You're a casual for considering a screen assist. Y'all are so delusion. Y'all hang onto every word of theirs. Lol. This gives people who don't actually watch the games more stats to look at. Lmao.
@@rayrey90that’s the point…so then box score watchers would have more knowledge of what actually happened in the game…wow a novel concept
i disagree i think it'd make casual view players in a negative light. if people saw that most of sabonis's assists come off of hand offs and that a lot of them don't involve any sort of passing or playmaking they'd view his assist count as fraudulent which it kinda is tbh some of the assists they give him is wild
Just bron tryna ruin the game even more smh. Incentivize more illegal moving screens.
“ how far did that get the hawks “ …. SAVAGE 😂
JJ just described the entire Mavs offense lol, blitzs luka, make extra pass to the slot( gafford) or swing it to the corner, or Gafford takes 1 dribbles and dunks or he draws in the other defender for a free kick out 3..
Gaffird is avg 4 on 3. Maxi is terrible. Powell is bad. Curry has no idea how privileged he is to have green and Kerr
@@chauvintookaknee4blm268 You're definitely wrong, that's ok though. I'm sure the warriors will make the playoffs 😭
@@RankerTossBosss you're an insecure currycel. He's overrated. It's ok to see the truth
I’ll admit I’m a casual box score watcher
That’s not a bad thing dude, it’s bad when people who are make bad takes or tries discredit someone who’s impact doesn’t show up on the box score. Not everyone gotta know all ab the game
@@vadversityy9223 its a bad thing if youre forming opinions while barely watching any games and just looking at the box score
@@hankanatorpoo8777 u just repeated what I had JUST said...

Wow, you just spoke for 95 % of NBA fans. That’s why we don’t value your opinion as much as you want
I just realized he knows darvin ham and the lakers are watching this and he is basically telling them what to run and what works .. this dude lebron is a genius
probably told them already but darvin have different ideas 😂

Counting screen assists as a stat would help explain why Kwame Brown had a 14 year NBA career
i was not one of them ones is a crazy thing to say 😭 jj was tuff in college tho
I Respect the fact Bron talks about the Lakers plays as well and just not out here putting every other team on blast.
I wish he would put other teams on blast, that would be hilarious
I was really saying this in HS cuz my job was to screen off ball and on ball and I was “responsible” for legit like 15 points one game just cuz of how our offense was set up. But I never shot or handled the ball so I looked useless 😂
Blocked shots and steals were not counted as official stats in the NBA until the 1974-74 season, so I am all for screen assists being added to the list. Gobert and Green have other ways to shine, but the value of guys like Luke Kornet, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Clint Capela, Steven Adams, et al., would be greatly enhanced both in the eyes of fans and GMs if that stat were made official.
Aye yo…it just hit me why this podcast is great, it really is an interesting and intelligent conversation about the game of BASKETBALL…no bullshit narratives, no emotions, no stupid adds, no dumb graphics and meaningless stats…we’re literally listening to the 🐐just chopping it up about basketball 🫡🫡🫡
Its really crazy that they don't track the Hockey Assist especially now with how everyone plays the 3pt line.
This podcast is too good😭
“Why didn’t you score a touchdown Jason?!?” Lmaoo
i think they should because those things are super valuable when it comes to winning and creating scores and they don’t get representation when discussing how good a player is for their teams success
these days every single stat should be recorded ... this will for sure compliment the current box scores and stats ... also gauge skills and value on the open market.
I 100% agree with this
Totally agree
Screen assists, shots contested and true shooting % replacing field goal % need to be made mainstream.
I love this straight nerdy basketball talk
I also think that charges should count as steals. They serve the same purpose of changing possession.
I think the NBA could do something similar as to hockey. There's so much more going on in thevgame and the current stats
Screener MVPs
David West
Steven Adams
Tyson Chandler
Steven Adams screens you don’t recover from…
missing Gortat as well
These two would have put on together
Assists sould be counted when fouls are called in the act of shooting or and one.
screens and hockey passes need to be added for sure
They also need a moving screen assist stat for the warriors
Add successfull Pick and Roll count
What they could do is either make it it's own stat or like if you get 2 screen assists =1 assist.
Add deflections too.
Deflections that lead to a side out are basically meaningless. A deflection that leads to a steal is credited to the deflector. It's already a stat.
@@alexsmith3598 disagree on them being meaningless. They eat up a significant amount of the shot clock and disrupt the offense, leading to a way worse shot opportunity off the inbound. Probably not valuable enough to be on the box score though lol
Been saying this since 08
Lebron James is really good @ passing & that gets overlooked somehow?
Uncut hoops never mention how good l b j passing is! You’re right
No it doesn’t
He’s a good passer, for a guy his size and for him being ball dominant. But nothing spectacular. He do make a lot of bone headed passes that results to a lot of TOs
@@judahmourneth3211😂
Pass this
🍆
This exactly how I be arguing with people on 2k when they just look at the box score. Screen assist and the pass to assist mos definitely need to be in the box scores. That would shut up a lot of people on determining who good or not.
Fellas time is running out we will miss the King on the court😢
Honestly, if this helps very small role players feel like they contributed something out of the traditional box score, just put it on. But put it waaaaay in the back of the box score.
Gortat would be on top of leaderboard few years back
Can we track ILLEGAL SCREEN assists? Moving picks are real, and too frequent.
Most screens today are moving screens. So it's not going to happen captain
Everyone does it. Every team does it. If this was a diss at Draymond you’re corny and a hypocrite.
@@tyreek.6815 Draymond does it but every team that does it every one of them should be called. Like wtf. The draymond screen in this very video is illegal though.
Mr. Silver take notes 👀
Like there are players who do a ‘sacrificial’ run, drawing their defender away, thus creating space for a play.
If the NBA adds stat categories, this will influence people to watch the less and less. People already don't watch games enough.
Then who gets for a double screen? What about an off ball pin down screen that leads to a 3?
JJ needs to get one of those touch screens CNN be using. That clipboard ain’t it in 2024
Zach Lowe fuming right now
Question ... What does a jj-bron situation look like.. How do yall imagine what it look like if yall played together
90's lovers ain't got idea on how complexed basketball has became as opposed to one on one basketball even kobe got a taste of golden state at the end of his career and could only admire steph's ability to shoot on a poket 😊
4:02 JJ had game. The only reason Book said he not“one uh dem ones” is he fully enunciates it😂😂
What are we doing????
Whats next make a hockey assists next?
Parley builders don’t make it no better lol😂
If screen assists were a box score stat, we'd need to rewrite a significant amount of triple double records
Good.
I think they should, in soccer they have something like that pretty sure it’s called key passes.
MY LEGLORIOUS KING 😍😍😍
bron aint gone let u hit lil bro
Tampon tea
The only way for Draymond to avoid his usual triple single🤣🤣🤣
You’re proving their point.
Hockey assists too
More stat pads🤣😂😂
😂😂😭😊
It is on 2K🤷🏿♂️😅
Lebron and JJ need to coach a team. That would be box office
Jokic already destroying the stats... you add screen assists and hockey assists.....
Btw this is why jokic always has ridiculous advanced stats. He already is among league leaders in assists and he probably has at least 4 or 5 screen assists every game.
I love this podcast. It confuses all the casuals who think they know ball
Boxscore can equal contract dollars, guys wanna get paid da most ... U put the right team stats in the stat sheet narratives change how guys preform
Easy double double every night
Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Lebron.. honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you drive into the paint and strike fear into your enemies eyes. Your silky smooth touch around the rim, and that gorgeous jumpshot. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you retire.
You had a rough childhood, but you never gave up hope. You are even amazing off the court, you're a great husband and father, sometimes I even call you dad. I forvever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day retire. I would sacrifice my ownlife it were the only thing that could put a smile on your beautiful face.
You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years. I remember when you first left clevenland and its like my heart got broken into a million pieces. But a tear still fell from my right eye when I watched you win your first ring in miami, because deep down,my glorious king deserved it. I just wanted you to return home. Then allas, you did, my sweet baby boy came home and I rejoiced. 2015 was a hard year for us baby, but in 2016 you made history happen. You came back from 3-1 and I couldn't believe it.
I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "CLEVELAND, THIS IS FOR YOU!" Not only have you changed the game of basketball and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're getting older, but still the goat, my goat. I love you pookie bear, my glorious king, Lebron James.
Let’s be clear.. Lebron is 39,000 years old, scored 40,000 pts
Still cooking dudes scoring 25 a game at 50%fg
And you mean to tell me that while he’s still competing he’s sitting around giving away his tendencies and reads on the court and there’s nothing these players or coaches can do to stop him? Wow 🐐 🤴🏾
This series confirm what everyone suspected for a long time.. Lebron is very analytical about the game.. just overthinks at times.. When you are so much better than others he could have just dominated more if he didnt overthink.
An episode with bron and mike we NEED IT!!
I think jj wasn’t to be clear on this
The nba should let you get a assist if you pass somebody the ball and they get fouled and make both free throws
❤❤
Lets just stat the stat the stat.. gamblers need more.
Big men would start getting triple doubles easy. I’m all for it 😂
You are my sunshine🌝
true but too easy
I wonder how Darvin Ham's basketball IQ measures up to Lebron's.
I do wish jj played one season with bron smh he would have been curry before 16
also, add illegal screen and a flop
Were JJ and Lebron friends before this?
Lol don't foul
Just try
(since all star break, free throws are dramatically down due to a shift in officiating favoring the defense)
Good contest & bad contest
“We love the box score watcher” says the all-time stat paddler
Screen assists and hockey assists should both be on all basketball stats websites (basketball reference, ESPN, etc.)
Next video, Why Nut Shots and Trips Should Be a Box Score Stat?
This show displays a real human side to Lebron. As well as displays JJs and his own brilliance and passion. Absolutely all for it, rhetorical basketball world will benefit greatly from this.
LeStatistics
Bron knows basketball, obviously. But he can't articulate it probably.
Letsss gooo
Screen assist should not be a box score stat... participation type shyt
They should make illegal screens a stat too, huh Warriors fans
Here's an idea, do away with ALL stats, and just play the game as hard and well as you can competing and trying to win! Stats are garbage and are for nerds that are too lazy to watch and appreciate the intangibles.
Bro stfu bum stats is important wtf u saying
You do know that coaches and players read box scores between quarters in a game for strategy purposes. and they for sure watch the game at a level we can’t. Stats are helping but not the end all be all. No sport is ever going to do away with stats
@@Zay0321 I'm well aware. If you truly understand the game, as a player or coach, you make adjustments on the fly. Without looking at a stat sheet, you know what a player's/teams tendencies are, and plan/adjust accordingly. If you can't do that with eye test and experience, you're not very good at what you do.
@@chrisbrooks6756 u are bum fr
@@chrisbrooks6756 WTH so now championship nba level coaches aren’t good at there job, because they look at stats too🤣🤣😂. you can’t keep track of how many 3s a team hit in a quarter or how many minutes a certain player is playing or how many fouls your team is committing etc just by looking m, basketball is fast pace and 10 guys are are in action. Yes you have to analyze the game with your eyes but stats are the summarization of the game. as I said no sport is going to not track stats so get that idea out your head
Bro no 😂
Lebron done lapped MJ in the GOAT convo. James gives back, all MJ wanted to do was to take, get filthy rich and taunt his enemies. 😒
Nba2k pass to assist
No they shouldn’t 😂😂😂
Please stop with the be clear line
JJ and LeBron are trying to make the reading of the game simple but yet finding ways to make it complicated. Of course, there are offensive sets you have to run but at the same time, you read and react to what's available...even if a teammate isn't open for a shot but can receive the pass to get the basketball to the open man. However, you have to make defense you make the defense work. This shit isn't difficult. Lol.
Can someone tell lebron to stop saying “yep” all the time lmao
No
Lebron got 2 phones? One for the plug and one for the load ?
