Just the opposite. The basis of international law is the right of states to defend themselves.

The absolute arrogance of these people to think Oct 7 is relevant but not what predated Oct 7....I have zero empathy for Israel...none
Or anything since, its diabolical.
You are a clown 🤡go over and fight then but you wont 😂😂😂😂
You mean the wars waged on Israel by other neighbouring Arab countries in support of the Palestinians? They pre-dated Oct 7th. Do you mean the expulsion of nearly one million Jews from other Arab countries in 1948 onwards. Do you meant the constant attack on Israel which has necessitated every house in Israel having a bomb shelter and them having to spend billions on defence like the "Iron Dome"?
What exactly predates October 7th? I’m genuinely curious? Because Jews have been in Isreal since before Islam was created, since before the CE. You do not care about the Muslims in china who are actually being slaughtered in targeted killing (genocide) by the Chinese government. You do not care about the over 1million people killed in Syria… so why do you care about Palestine?
What pre-dated Oct 7th? Let me think. 1. Wars waged against Israel by neighbouring Muslim Arab countries because they didn't like the thought of Jews living next to them. 2. Nearly 1 million Jews expelled from neighbouring Muslim Arab countries. 3. Constant rockets attacks, and terrorist attacks on Israel. 4. Israel giving Gaza to the Palestinians to run as their own Country.
The list goes on and on.
He talks about proportionality, but fails to acknowledge that it was Hamas who started this war.
As someone said if this were the same media coverage in WW2 we would have people saying the Germans are the victims because more of them died, this could be finished if the instigators of this war would surrender and give up the hostages.
you have to do the right thing
Civilian deaths are always regrettable: Britain killed more German civilians in WWII than the Luftwaffe bombings in Britain; the USA nuked two Japanese cities, yet these casualties were never under the microscope, nor were there 24 x 7 news broadcasts insisting that the RAF and Allies were killing too many. The US Airforce killed more than one wedding party in error in Afghanistan (but weapons are discharged in the celebrations...).
Yes, it is.
Today talking that way
Yes it is.
It is imperative to hold Netanyahu accountable for his failure to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza. If the Israeli government is genuinely committed to stopping Hamas, why are its leaders not being held accountable? Blocking aid in north Gaza under the guise of eliminating Hamas is unjustifiable. This situation highlights a disturbing pattern of targeting the entire Palestinian population. It's time for transparency and accountability.
This is a irrational argument. File a lawsuit against Hamas ? Where ? Gaza ? Do not be😊 daft man.
The International community of the virtuous and enlightened were all in on Israel's mistaken tolerance of an independent Palestinian Arab terror state for 18 years. Only Israel has to pay the price for this historical error.
Does anyone believe that they are really bothered about getting the hostages back? Cutting off food, water, fuel, bombing indiscriminately with dumb bombs for months, does that sound like they are bothered, do they think that will not impact the survival of their fellow Israelis being held in Gaza? @darrenjohnston1744 the fact you're going on previous wars and neglect the thousands of children that have been murdered says a lot about you.
Since Egypt dumped the Gazans on Israel in 1973, the only occupation is by Hamas, as Gaza has been directly controlled by Hamas since the 2004 elections (and they were only given one election in 20 years by the Palestinian Authority with Hamas taking over. The IDF forces weren't in Gaza in that time. They took the billions of international aid and never built air raid shelters whilst permanently firing rockets at Israeli civilians, Arabs, Druize and Jews. They wanted jihad didn,t they? Why cry now?
They are fighting a brutal genocider Israel. Israel is occupier and occupier cant complain against resistance forces
Why don't you "eurosplain" the meaning of Jihad
It seems to me that the interviewer misunderstands the concept of "proportionality" in international law. Proportionality doesn't mean that the number of civilian casualties on the Palestinian side should be more or less equal to the number on the Israeli side. In international law, "proportionality" means that the number of civilian casualties on the enemy’s side should be proportionate to the military objective. So the question the interviewer should've asked was whether several thousands of Palestinian casualties is proportionate to Israel's military objective (i.e. to eradicate a jihadi terror group which poses an existential threat to the State of Israel and its citizens). To be honest, I don't know the answer to the question. I'm inclined to say that Israel's military actions are still proportionate, although I'm starting to doubt whether a regular army like the IDF is fit for purpose in an urban warfare context. The fact that the Shifa Hospital has been recaptured by Hamas in spite of the IDF's earlier assertion that it had been cleared from Hamas may indicate that Israel's current military tactics aren't working to eradicate Hamas. And that's where the concept of proportionality under international law may start to bite Israel sooner or later. I mean you can’t continue to use inefficient military tactics and at the same time claim that the rising number of civilian casualties is still proportionate.
According to urban warfare experts (Richard Kemp of UK and John Spencer of US), Israel has taken extraordinary care to limit civilian casualties, better than any other army known.
@@benqurayza7872 The issue is that Hamas jihadists seem to be reappearing as soon as the IDF has left an area they declared “freed from Hamas” (e.g. the Shifa Hospital). This seems to indicate that the IDF isn’t in control of what’s happening on the ground, in spite of the rhetoric. So the question is how much longer the urban warfare experts’ assessment is going to stand. If Hamas keeps reappearing from out nowhere no matter how much military force the IDF uses, inevitably, there will come a point in time to ask oneself in all honesty whether the number of casualties is still worth it.
You just wanted to type bull💩
How does hamas , other than through puffed up words, have the military might and ability , with Israel the most superior military power in the region, to pose sn existential threat to Israel?
@@kerrynewnham8946 Your question is almost too easy to answer, but here we go:
1. With the terror attacks of 7 October 2023, Hamas has shown that it can make normal life in the south of Israel impossible. Did you know that 135,000 Israeli civilians have been displaced since 7 October? Do you realise the enormous impact this has one the Israeli economy and thus the Israeli treasury?
2. By constantly spreading a religious narrative that the state of Israel's existence is an affront to good Muslims in a region that consists of very authoritarian military dictatorships with a devout Muslim population that is easily stirred up by a religious narrative, Hamas is creating an extremely explosive climate, especially in the on Israel's Northern borders (where heavily armed Hezbollah troops, sponsored by Israel's arch enemy Iran, are stationed) as well as in the.Gulf of Aden (where the Houthi rebels, also sponsored by Iran, are stirring up more anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish hatred in the Middle East).
3. This leaves Israel with no choice but to mobilise hundreds of thousands of young men and women, which is once again a heavy burden for the economy to bear. Moreover, it creates an increasingly right-wing climate within the State of Israel, which threatens to endanger Israeli democracy as such. Well, if Israel evolves into a far-right state with a sluggish economy, then Israel will ultimately lose its appeal as a homeland for the Jewish people. And so the existence of the State of Israel itself is in danger. Which is exactly what Hamas is trying to achieve. Do you get it now?
Is Israel going to to release the Palestinians held in concentration camps
Britain held Italians and Germans during the last war and the US held Japanese.
Simple fact - most of the U.K. population are on the side of the Palestinians in terms of thinking the violence in retaliation/ response has been too extreme and is collective punishment. Regardless of what MP friends of Israel say.

Fortunately for us sane people there are some MP's with a spine left.

Why argue about proportionality? With Hamas hiding in schools, hospitals, and Private homes with civilians, it is Hamas own making from the start of Oct. 7.
Where is your actual proof of this?
As if you never go to school read more learn more
I’m still waiting on your proof? The IDF never provided any actual evidence that could be independently verified to justify their war crimes.
Also ever hear of the occupation? The nakba? Apartheid? Hamas didn’t start this. This predated Hamas, occupation began in 1967, the forced displacement of 3/4 a million Palestinians in 1948 when Israel was established, Hamas was born in 1987, the PLO predates Hamas Israel was able to establish more or less peace with the Arafat.
