Crazy thing is John wasn't part of the original line up and played on a later album but single handedly defined the sound of Whitesnake and is sorley missed from the band since 1987.
Indeed 💪.
Whitesnake is Fool for your loving. Bernie.
@@StefanPriceUK Arguably their biggest song, Here I Go Again, also Bernie. I would also argue that Coverdale defines the Whitesnake sound with his voice.
It is sad they good not work things out between each other, image if they would have and did not go for that glamour rock image? Slip of the Tnogue would have been so much heavier and tasteful!
The Bad Boys riff is one of the most kick ass riffs of all time. It sounds similar, but the Children of the Night riff off 87 is also killer.
Indeed 👌🎸.
Absolutely
Sykes is the reason that 1987 WS album was so sonically perfect. Well... that and Coverdale’s vocals
Indeed!
...actually...that would be Bob Fucking Rock...for the guitar sounds anyways.
@1234tzimani oh, I agree 100%....but John, would NEVER have gotten THAT sound...without Bob. Without him....who knows what it would have sounded like.
I’d love people to hear that album without Sykes vocals then they’d realise the vocal thickness is from him, not taking away from Coverdale though he’s a rock god 🤘
Rudys Bass & Ansley's drums weren't too shabby either. It was just FULL of Great Musicianship.
John Sykes is a legend ,the guy played in the most greatest rock bands .
Yes👍.
Was 16 when the 1987 Album came out. It is a masterpiece and John Sykes is the reason. WS didn't come to my town until 1990 when the lineup was Steve Vai and Adrian. Fast forward to 2015 and in my 40's decided to take up the guitar because of Sykes. The first song I learned from start to finish is "Is This Love" including the solo 1 year after I took up the guitar. Now I want my birth year 1971 Les Paul Black Beauty. Love Sykes!
👌💪🎼🎸
King Sykes is not easy to replicate. You are excellent Mr.
Thanks! 🙏☺️
How could anyone give your video a thumbs down ? It’s obvious to me that you worked a lifetime at crafting your guitar playing.EXCELLENT video!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Rick! 🙏💪
Hell ya ive learned more from EUGE than most vids !!! but i am an intermediate-adv player and need a next level of info
Sykes is the most underrated guitarist ever!
Indeed💪.
Along with Vito Bratta
Yes.
He doesn't even make it in the 100 best. For good reasons, his wide vibrato sounds bad and he doesn't have a sound of himself, everything os borrowed
@@JoseLuis-ng1jx I dis agree
John cykes wrote some of the best riffs ever, and I can definitely hear his influence on your playing and that's definitely a good thing. Great video
He did indeed. Thanks!
You're an excellent narrator and a teacher. Superb video, thanks! 🙏
Thanks!
Sykes is the definition of attitude on the guitar. Great video!
Yeah! Thanks!
Great tone and playing.
Whitesnake lost THAT sound after Sykes. They got it close when Doug Aldrich was with them.
Thanks!
Indeed 👌💪.
The expression on that little bird on top of the amp says it all! 😮 Amazing playing and tone.
Thanks! ☺️🙏
So true you know your music because i thought the same thing Aldrich was great with dio to
👌
John’s tone and playing is my favorite of all time! His vibrato is the best!
Great work Euge, you got the essence of John Sykes. For me the most vibrant hard rock guitarist of all time.
Thanks John! Indeed 💪👌.
aside from the insane playing Sykes has, i really appreciate the fact that he is known for 1 guitar, the black custom. He used it for everything, sounds epic to just be able to use 1 axe for everything, and focus on the playing .
Yeah!
evidently John had a car wreck way back when and he got knocked out and they pulled him out and the car had caught on fire. When John came to he went back in the car against the wishes of the firemen etc.....he had to pull that guitar out lol
@@JohnProph i thought that was Adrian Vandenberg?
@@mike77gmc nah, had to be John....I wouldnt have been reading about Adrian lol
Sykes is a beast. I used to watch him with Streetfighter (pre Tygers)playing rock covers in the pubs of East Lancashire in England with Merv Goldsworthy who went on to play bass in FM. He had a huge repertoire even back then and was good to talk to after the show.
Cool! 👌
Nice one brother, John Sykes is an absolute guitar god and you more than do him justice. 🤘
Thanks! Glad to hear!
john sykes is an absolute legend
Indeed.
Your feeling and passion for Sykes’ style and delivery is inspiring to say the least. He’s my favorite as well and I share your admiration for all his intricacies. Such an outstanding video. Thank you!!!
Thanks man! Really glad to hear!
I would just like to thank you for all of your hard work putting this great video together and your other great videos!!!! John Sykes is one of my all time favorite guitarist and you have done an outstanding job of playing his songs and solos!!! Cheers from Tennessee USA!!!!!
Excellent video! Please keep them coming! John Sykes is back 2021!
Thanks! Yeah!
This song brings me such marvelous memories... one of the best hard rock songs ever. Sykes is my hero. Fantastic recreation Euge, both playing and sound !!
Thanks PR!
Fantastic, Euge. Thank you! Been working on this tune myself for months. Got all rhythm parts down. This will help me with the solo. John Sykes is a beast. So happy to finally hear new material.
My pleasure ;-). Cool!
Indeed!
Really really good content. You’re love and admiration for Sykes shows. It also makes the video worth watching. Great job! 😎👍🏼
Thanks Robert!
I know right!
I keep coming back to this video man. Love your playing on this.
Oh glad to hear that! Thanks!
Excellent playing and video‼️ I've always been in awe of Metal guitarists. As a black kid growing up I wanted to be a Rock God! 🤣 Jimi, Randy and Eddie (R. I.P) were my top three favorites. I never did get the hang of playing guitar other than learn a few chords and a couple scales. Thinking about giving it another go (playing guitar that is, minus the Rock God status). 😊👍🏽
Thanks!
Go for it man and have fun! That’s what this is all about 👌😎.
@@EugeValovirta230V Great point. 😊👍🏽
have you started back up yet? Let er’ rip!
@@vincentscottellis No, not yet. Need to get me a guitar. It's been that long...
@@raffeal247 hey man I started guitar at 32..I'm 46 now, sure there are 8 yr olds who kick my ass...still I love having a go...get that guitar mate, you have unfinished business..
All of his work is in my rotation and I am a bass player. A life long Whitesnake fan and he never got over being fired. I would give anything for a Blue Murder reunion.
That would be awesome indeed 👌💪.
100% with u mate❤
Yes Sykes is so prolific! One of my favorites too. For the same reasons “all my other favorites in one player” your video’s kick ass brother your amazing player too! I saw this 3years ago. But watching it again to figure out songs. Thank you 🙏
Please, just please - do more lessons with John Sykes songs. Blue Murder „Billy”, maybe?
Great Video by the way!!!
Thanks! I’ll try to find the time in the future. My to do - list is a bit long but I’ll add this on it too 👌😎.
@@EugeValovirta230V Billy wld be awesome!
Great playing, and great topic, Euge. Keep rockin'!
Thanks man! 🤟🙏
Sounds amazing man! One of the most underrated players! Love Sykes!
Thanks! Indeed.
Outstanding my friend. I've been pondering lately how perfect the guitar work is on that album. Criminally underrated. And now the algorithms bring me your video. Thankyou !
Thanks!
Awesome mate, cheers from Australia! John Sykes rules!
Thanks man! Cheers! He does 💪.
Love the video ....Good taste John Sykes and Black Agile Guitar! Sweet! Thanks for sharing.
Glad to hear! Thanks!
Love your videos! John Sykes is a legend!
Thanks! Indeed 💪
Sykes has the absolute best vibrato in music. Sykes and Gary Moore have/had that incredible big, wide and even vibrato. And it adds so much more musical expressiveness to your guitar playing.
By the way Euge, fantastic playing and killer tone you have. I appreciate your enthusiasm also. It's inspiring.
Indeed! 💪
Thanks man! Really glad to hear! 🙏
Sykes' vibrato is flat out sexy and yes...probably the best in the business.
Really wish that him and Dave would have done more together. Despite their personal issues they were obviously a formidable & competent team.
That being said Doug Aldrich was the next best thing. It's a shame that 15+ years went by before they hooked up.
John Sykes man, how I love that guy!!! I´m practicing Found What I needed and is an amazing song with a good bunch of interesting chords. Thanks for the video Euge.
Yeah!
Thanks man!
The best John Sykes analysis video out there!
Glad to hear! Thanks!
So good to see someone as enthusiastic about John and his playing as I am.
Thanks! ☺️🙏
Hello Euge! 😊 Happy New Year! 🍾🥂🎉🎊 Totally agree with you, I have been following John for so many years and I think the same things you said in the video, amazing guitarist, singer and songwriter! Now we just have to wait for the long-awaited new album, unfortunately it is jumping from year to year, we hope this year is the right time! A hug from Sardinia and congratulations for your channel, unfortunately I only discovered it a few days ago but... Better late than never 😅 I'm watching your videos with great pleasure! 🤘💪😊🎸

Excellent tone and great lesson! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
That chorus never gets old, catchy af. Awesome playing sr!
I agree 👌.
Thanks!
Euge, Great call showcasing John's style and hopefully introducing others not familiar with him to his work. Also, damn amazing tone from a stock JCM800 and a SD1.
Thanks! Glad to hear!
It’s a bit special though it’s stock: ua-cam.com/video/5I6nTYCEpVs/v-deo.html
Excellent. Thanks a lot. Whitesnake always had the best musicians (and singer). John is awesome, of course so it was a great video. Can't wait to pick up the guitar tomorrow 🤟🏻🎸
Glad to hear! Thanks! Good 😎💪.
Fantastic job! Sounded great.
Thanks!
Great video!! Glad that saw it in recomendations, many thanks !! :)

Killer work!!

killer tone bro. And some awesome playing I might say
Thanks Will!
That is an amazing tutorial video, you are an extremely patient and disciplined musician, this is the first time I've watched your channel and I'm just devastated, Thank you so much for the video Euge... \../ \../
Thanks! 🙏👌
Wish I could find a tokai like that one. It’s stunning.
Love this video. It’s taken a long time to get my alternate picking anywhere near this, but it’s slowly coming together. I also like the fact that I have to use my ears to work out some of the parts you play rather than relying on tab. I must’ve watched this video 30 times at least
Cool man! Thanks!
Oh man. Great video. I am a huge Sykes fan. I saw him live with blue murder and jt was killer. I loved him in Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake too. He's so talented. Just so talented.
You for sure have his sound - tone figured out. We play very much alike. Very cool..
Thanks for sharing man.
Oh thanks man! 🙏☺️
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Love from Australia
Thanks DD!
I really miss good 80's rock guitar playing. The best players/songwriters took 50's electric (Chicago) blues, 60's British blues and rock & roll, 70's stadium rock and glam rock and fused it all together into something that, while upping the musicianship and harmonic complexity game, _didn't_ forget how to make you want to tap your foot, dance and cheer. And John Sykes was one of the best.
This video is a good introduction to Sykes' licks, chords and approach. It's way better than a "put this finger here, put that finger there" lesson because it explains the _thinking_ behind the style. That analysis is so important to really "getting it." Thanks.
Indeed! Well said 👌.
Thanks! Really glad to hear!
Im not really much of a fan of this style of playing...but this guys love n respect for john sykes guitar work shone through and made it very watchable....nice one!!
Thanks! 😎🙏
Wow! What a great video in tribute to Sykes! Coverdale was so stupid to let him go. But Euge, you are a BEAST! Great job!
Thanks!
Euge, that was some Great Guitar Playin. Damn I Love the Les Paul sound, So Rich.
Thanks Bigg E! 😎🙏
Yep ,Sykes is incredible ! You also play great guitar - great badass tone !

Dude, EPIC. No one can top that. Maybe Sykes. 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥

Sounds fantastic John want more never forget ya🤘🎸😉😎🤩
Thanks! 🎸🎼💪
Great job! Sykes is my number one!
Thanks!
Cool vid !! I got Thin Lizzy T n L in high school !! Loved him in Wsnake!! Saw John Sykes' Thin Lizzy couple times also with scott gorham !!!!
Thanks man!
Great video! Had me cracking up at 7:17 with that look after you pinched that note 😅also loved how you emphasized what a great writer he is. Having been a guitar player in bands back in the 80's I know how difficult it is to write a good riff/song, let alone a great accompanying vocal melody... and then to perform both also? Yes, guys as talented as Mr. Sykes are very rare indeed. I share your passion for him too... his playing, not actually him... you know what I mean.🤣(I always thought he sang better than Coverdale too)
Thanks! 🙏😎🤟
outstanding work brother Euge
Thanks man!
Euge, At the 8:04 mark with the G, D and A what is the pattern you're playing? You mention 4,2,1 but I never see you hit the 1 on any of those strings.
I didn’t notice me mentioning those things but it’s a pull off lick with G, D & A strings and the frets were 4-2-0 and 4-3-0 on the A string 😎. And resting your right hand palm lightly on the strings for harmonics 👌.
Very cool lesson man. I liked how you slowed down the speed licks to make it easier to follow how to play. Sykes is a legend. His Blue Murder catalog is next level. Would love to see you cover some killer tracks like Black Hearted Woman, Ptolemy, Jelly Roll, and Blue Murder.
Thanks! Glad to hear! Stay tuned; there’s Part 2 coming...😉
Oh man. You master what you are talking about, because it is obvious that you really love what you hear and play!!! Congratulations!!!
Thanks!
Great Video, good skills, I just bought an old Tokai Les Paul, loving it, as good as any Gibson I've played, when I get a spare few hours I'll be learning this, dunno who could sing it, my vocals are more Bonn Scot, than Coverdale, always the issue covering Whitesnake.
Thanks!
Tokais are really high quality guitars indeed 👌.
Sykes the man the myth the legend couldn't have picked a better instructor than Euge to teach his style. Fkn channel is #1🤘🤘🤘.
🙏💪☺️
I have to agree that Sykes is Amazing! I'm a huge fan of Vandenburg also. Great playing and I really enjoyed the little bits that are between the chords that's Sooo important to the song. 🤙🇺🇸🤘
Yeah!
Thanks man! Glad to hear 🙏.
Brilliant video thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Heck, that's cool playing. Congrats..You play like him. I'm stunned. I'm also amazed about your half stacks that seems to be in an appartment. I'm already bothering my neighbors with a Fender blues deluxe but with this the Police would show up and i would be fired from the appartment instantly, haha.
Sweet Tokai man. They really know how to make some amazing guitars.
Indeed 👌
Great playing!

Ur playing is always killer!
Thanks!
Great sound on ur video...and ur amps too

Wow, nailing the tone 💯 percent.
Thanks!
Fantastic performance of one of the top of the line guitar player.

Agreed, exactly --1987 album in particular is a true gem of the eighties, thinking better of it, it was the solid song writing skills of Sykes and his stylistic approach, awesome you are talking about this! Respect
Great playing, you've got some great Marshalls there !
Thanks Marshall John! ;-)
Great video! I don't really play this style anymore, but grew up with it. I heard his name mentioned on the recent Tone Talk episode. I wanted to look up some of his stuff and found this video. Think I might play around with this some. It makes me feel like I'm back in high school.
Thanks Steven! Glad to hear! 🙏
I love the way you look up at the camera when you nail those harmonics. 😀
😁
Ah yeah man John Sykes is awesome🤘🤘his pinch harmonics & style were so ahead of time's in the 80's I was playing on the same bill as Tygers of Pan Tang over decade ago now I was wishing John was playing guitar for them but it was a guy that joined later but he was good nether the less but another great video keep up the great work👌
He is indeed 💪. Yeah! Thanks man!

Thanks!
Great video for people who know how to play guitar! You carefully analyse the entire song with interesting comments on Sykes' style :)
Thanks!
Also reminded me of Rhoads! Great playing.
Yes indeed!
Thanks!
John Sykes had total admiration for Phil Lynott when gave his blessing to go to Whitesnake....a move he hated afterwards
I’m learning the Still of the Night solo. It’s so badass. John Sykes is God
Cool! Yeah! 💪
Friggin badass Euge!!! (Y) Omg John Sykes such a fantastic guitarist, vocalist--- amm i mean Musician! :D F* YEAH!
😎🕺🙏🤟
Hell yeah I love everything about your music forever your awesome 🎸❣🤘💯😎❤
Below, it is mentioned that Sykes is THE reason for the sonic perfection of this album. That is difficult to argue.
Just to add: seems it is synergy where already great parts, became epic when together...in addition to the amazing riffs and roar.
Saw them twice on this tour.
Beautiful playing. Would have been nice to have UA-cam vids like this in 87' to learn the parts more quickly. I only had to learn keys, bass, and vocals...the first two🤘, but Coverdale I was not then nor now.
Again, fantastic playing and tone.
That LP looks like a mini😉
Your doin a great job I find bad boys a tricky one Sykes and Gary Moore are God’s the world will never see their like again different styles both excellent top of their game.
