  • This is stage 3 for the 2019 Ford Ranger FX4. Perhaps one of the favorites for the owner thus far between the factory shocks, Bilstein 5100, and Fox 2.0.
    Ranger Shock Guide
    www.shocksurplus.com/pages/ch...
    Bilstein handled superb, but a bit firm for the daily drive. Fox 2.0 softened up the edges from Bilstein, but were a bit too squishy in some situations. Eibach has brought balance to the force.
    We tested both the 2.0 Pro Truck Shocks (digressive piston) and the 2.0 Pro Truck Reservoir (PTR) Shocks (linear piston). Feels significantly different under the truck.

      We'll try to get something out but so far he's a massive fan for the Eibach Pro Truck with the rear reservoir shock. We are still working on more shocks to put in such as Bilstein 6112, Fox 2.5, Teraflex Falcon, Icon and much more.

    I have this same setup on my 2019 Ranger minus the resis on the back. I am running Fuel revolver Love the Eibachs. Truck handles awesome. I do have some tire rubbing in the fender well, might have to do a 6" lift to get the clearance in need.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Рік тому +3

      It really depends on how big of tire you are running but did you remove the front and rear crash bars to get some extra clearance? There's is no need to get 6" lift. Our ranger is running 34s on a 2" lift in the front and stock rear.

    • @shawnshannon1735
      @shawnshannon1735 Рік тому

      Yea I did remove the front and rear intrusion bars. I think its coming down to the wheel. They are the Fuel Revolver 17x9 with a -18 offset and 4.25 backspacing. And 285x70xR17 Hancook mt tire.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Рік тому +1

      Oh yeah it's the -18 offset. Our ranger is on a 17x9 +0 Method wheels. What part you rubbing on exactly? Just note as a good practice, if you have issues with clearance at stock height, lifting it won't solve the issue unless you have lifted it so tall that you're wheels and axles are no longer near the frame of the vehicle.

    • @shawnshannon1735
      @shawnshannon1735 Рік тому

      Yea, the tires are hinting just inside the fender well near the back of the tire right in front of where the rear intrusion beam would be. I don't mind going up to the 6" lift. My biggest worries were not being able to coilover that i ready have with the Rough county lift that ibwas looking at. I talked to Matt on your web site and didblet me know that they will work. Just have to set the coilover back to stock height

      @ShockSurplus  Місяць тому

      there wont be too much difference in ride quality for most people that drive on pavement. the benefits come with the coilovers that are a tad longer, which increases wheel travel - but that's mostly an off-road benefit. Otherwise shock quality and damping characteristics are near identical.

      We've got a Silverado 1500 guide going on now, checkout those videos. If you want a tighter handling truck, the Bilstein 5100 are great, if you want some improvement to handling but more concerned with plush onroad drive, the Fox 2.0 is solid.

    Is the Ranger running a sway bar? And how do these ride compared to the 6112’s? Ranger running stock leaf pack?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  7 місяців тому +1

      Yup it is still running the factory front bar. They are definitely a little softer and more plush than the 6112s particularly at lower speeds, but they are not quite as supportive over bigger bumps at higher speeds off road and are not quite as stable under a load. The Eibachs really are a good middle ground between the Bilstein and the Fox. A little softer than the Bilstein, but a little firmer and more stable than the Fox.

    • @Enessy13
      @Enessy13 7 місяців тому

      So if I wanted to run no sway bar…6112’s since they’d be more supportive and control body roll but still “plush” due to sway bar delete? Basically I want Fox plush but without sway bar the Fox would be too soft so I’m thinking 6112’s to handle higher speeds over washboard etc.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  7 місяців тому

      At that price point a digressive shock like the 6112 would be the way to go. With that said if you are alright with spending more you could get the Fox 2.5s with the DSC adjusters and you could use the low speed clicker to lock down body roll with the sway bar disconnected.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Рік тому

      it'll depend solely on how hard you go offroad, the 6112 will perform better in the fast and heavier terrain compared to the eibach due to the 2.5 piston. That means rebound will be better after a hard hit, keeping the vehicle from bucking hard after full compression

    Shock Surplus is awesome...great people. But that guy who's talking about the difference in struts is full of shit. The Eibachs are stiffer than the Bilsteins. I've used both, and Bilsteins have slightly better dampening. The Eibachs are still a great value, though.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  6 місяців тому

      Everybody is definitely entitled to their opinion however we tested the Bilsteins and Eibachs basically back to back, and everybody who rode in the ranger agreed. Obviously, this will vary on application, especially since Eibach uses a different piston design for just about every vehicle, but on these Rangers, the Eibachs were undoubtedly the softer of the two.
