Lived here (Minneapolis) my entire life and have traveled the world. While I'm not a fan of the winter, I still wouldn't live anywhere else. It's the perfect blend of city & country and it's not overcrowded. The Twin Cities rock!

You just do. You put on your coat, scrape the snow and ice off your car windows, drive to work and live your life. Eventually the snow melts and it gets warm.
I have been to the west coast and would prefer mn then Cali or anywhere else.i grew up in Minnesota my whole life.and the answer about the winters is you grow up in this climate you are just used to it.
We are in short sleeves no jacket when is 32 degrees.if you deal with these brutal winters 5 or 6 months out of the year that feels like may spring weather to us.
Not really the NorthSide is violent as fuck and up and down Snelling Ave and University Ave is no picnic either, plus Minnesota is an extremely white and uptight place to live.
We can't even legalize marijuana because we're such a progressive state lmmfao . . uptight Minnesota.

I visited Minnesota a couple of years ago during the summer and I love it. There's a lot of nice people, great mall, beautiful trees and lakes. I currently live in Colorado but I would love to move there.

As someone who has lived here my whole life and went to school here- this is a really awesome summary of what it is like to live here! I’ve traveled quite a bit and no city has yet tempted me away from the Twin Cities.
Everything about Minnesota is nice but the weather. There are only two seasons in Minnesota. Tundra season (very cold 5 months) and road construction season (very humid 7 months)
If you can live through that, it truthfully a wonderful place to live.

I grew up in Minneapolis, went to school at the U of M, and then spent 3 years working in Chicago (love that city too). Now I'm moved back, it's real hard to beat the recreational outlets here and not to mention a great place to start a family.

Just because you guys see one beautiful place you think that all the Minnesota's like that wake up I live in Minnesota and no they're not all like that and that apartment is very beautiful and very very expensive for that apartment alone it's over 2,000 a month I know I want to look at it personally in person and you have to pay for underground parking which is 150 and you have to pay for your own utilities all of them including water so yeah it's beautiful but you gotta pay

I have been to many cities in the US but Minneapolis is the best in my opinion. I live here now and call it my second home.

The shot at 0:51 isn’t anywhere at the U, or even close to the U. I walk by the location of that shot everyday. It is from the 1st floor of 3M Tower in St Paul (known to 3Mers as Building 220).
+tgustafson85 I think the video's title, narrative, and content make it pretty clear that the scope of the video is Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Then again, the Mall of America is in Bloomington. Oh well!

I don't live here, but I've visited twice, mainly to go to the Mall of America, and so far I like it there, clean, mostly friendly people, not-to-costly, very low crime rate, but I only 2 reasons I wouldn't move here is because I don't know anyone here and it gets extremely cold and snowy during the winter.

I LOVE Minneapolis, it's a truly gorgeous city, I grew up there and my parents made me move to Los Angeles and I miss mpls so much as cool as it is here it's nothing compared to Minnesota. I miss home :( safe travels!
Yes I used to live in linden hills before moving to Minnehaha falls, both are beautiful and safe and everything is walking distance

as I won't deny the great things that go on over here in the twin cities, it also has a pretty high crime rate. I've lived in North Minneapolis my entire life and it's really that all these horrible things happen. I don't mean to discourage anyone by any means to not try and come because we have great attractions and super big lakes. I just want people to be aware that bad things do happen like any city, especially saint paul and north Minneapolis.

Diego Magana You'd be surprised actually. The things you get to do in Minnesota may not be the same kinda things you do in Cali but they will be just as fun if not funner and just as abundant as well. As long as you stay in the Twin Cities area.

***** Dont move to St. Paul. If your single, try to move to downtown Minneapolis if you can afford it. If not, St. Paul is a cheap option but may not be the prettiest sight. But I've also been to other places which I assumed would look better (Boston for instance) which are far worse than St. Paul.

I just got accepted to this university and am considering it, but I am worried about the weather and the diversity. I here it is extremely cold and mostly white people and I am from an area in California where we don't get snow and there are tons of immigrants from Latin America to far Asia..thoughts? What is it actually like there?
Eh. It's alright there's LOTS of diversity which is nice because I like different types of people. It FREEZING half the year. People are generally nice. Idk if I were you I would vist first then make my decision :)

+Daniel Hurt-Ben nothing to worry about. i moved to LA after living in the twin cities for many years (attended a diff college & stayed a few years) and while few places in the US can match the diversity of southern california, the twin cities aren't as "white" as people think. there are many immigrants from africa (esp somalis) and asia (esp hmongs from laos), latin america and europe too. there is a vibrant music & entertainment scene, plenty of festivals in summer (like the video says). people really make the most of the good weather days and fill the parks. i live in maryland and visited the twin cities in august for the first time in 10yrs and i was shocked by how PROSPEROUS the city looks. the city is well run in general and the quality of life is 2nd to none. you won't regret going to school in the twin cities, believe me. you get used to the weather, and if you move back to california you will be that much tougher (no more wearing sweaters at 75f like in LA).
You'll be OK. Its an AWESOME place to live. Also the mall of america? Well believe it or not, we have not much snow. It all mainly melted. And a couple years ago we didn't have any! Its a nice place.

Uptown is great, especially around lake of the Isles, or lake Calhoun, or Linden hills area.
