This technique is definitely what one would consider as the “foundation” to many other styles that many hair stylists wish to achieve for their clients along with the high outcome expectations from their clients also. Absolutely love it.

These “how to videos” are so helpful for people like myself. I have an anxiety disorder of being touched, especially by strangers. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I think it's important to note to NOT move the peak of the part (top of the triangle) further back as you grab sections if you want to just frame your face only. I made the mistake of moving it back like it's shown here and the layers further back on my head were shorter than the ones next to my face. Keep the peak at one point as you add in more hair to cut!

That's why I want to go to Trade School for the cosmetology course, only costs a couple thousand and is 13 months, 16 if you're slow. I could see forking over 25k if you live in a big city, but I live in a small town with only 3 hair salons and 1 strict barber shop. That's it.
This is why I want to get my cosmetology licence, then get my barbers licence, retire and have a small spot at home catering to a couple clients at one time and not running a huge shop.
It basically would be just spending/emergency cash. Nothing really big to make a lot of money at off of.

We learned the face frame just as you said, holding the sections low. It never occurred to me to hold the hair higher, parallel to the face. I also thought cutting at that angle would take out too much. Not so! How different Cosmetology Training would be now if I was a student. Much better, I’d say! 👍🏼

I've just found this video and tried it immediately on myself and I must say - this is exactly what I was looking for!! The last time I went to a hair saloon I asked for "delicate, face-framing layers" and I ended up with some kind of fringe maybe? Something that wasn't layers and added a lot of weight to my quite broad face. I have thin hair so the back looked flat and generally it was a disaster. I followed the instructions from a video but I did these layers just in the front and stopped the the comb reached the space around beginning of my ear and the effect is BOMB! I loooove it and thank you from saving me from the visit at hair saloon hahaha

I am thrilled to see this so that I can communicate better with my beautician. I am so afraid of a bad cut… or just not what I wanted, which I consider a bad cut. But-that’s my fault if I don’t communicate well and it’s the beautician’s fault if the cut ignores what I asked for.

Erm ... what about evening up the cut so it's symmetrical. At 2:57 you can see the hair is different lengths on either side of the face.

I've had my angle messed up more then once at a salon. Cut right into the corner where the side should be angled right up to the back, not into it. That was done on one side.

Thanks for your great tutorials. I would be very interested in the video you mentioned with the side parting, but can't find it. Is there also a video where you continue with that same approach all the way to the back? I would love to see that, I think it is exactly what I wanted all that time. Is that what you would call a reverse graduation? I am so tired of one length haircuts, but I also don't want big choppy layers, just very connected, seemless little differences. I want to keep my length and I do have a lot of hair, healthy, 90cm long, but naturally fine. Could you also give me any advice for some solid entry-segment scissors? I know professional shears cost much, much more, but at this time I could spend 100-200 euros. Would be really grateful for your advice!

Can you please guide on how to cut face frame curtain bangs for long curly hair?

This is great, but if someone has bangs how do you start the layering? Also you mention face framing but you blow dry the style away from the face...If I want the fringy edge to be in the from versus blown away from the face.. How do I layer for that? Thanks
