Eyam - Peak District Village. This video walks through the idyllic village of Eyam, in the Derbyshire county of Peak District. This very traditional English village became synonymous with the plague in the 1600. A shipment of wool from London brought the Black Death to the village. The residents then made the ultimate self - sacrifice of putting the entire village into quarantine to prevent the disease from spreading to the nearby area. Stroll through the stone cottages and you will see plaques commemorating the people who lived and died there, with some households wiped out completely.
