Try Gainsborough, my town. It has a Tudor half-timbered Manor House in the town center. It the biggest Manor House that has been in continual use since it was built in 1478. Henry Vlll met his last wife there, Catherine Parr. It has been visited by other royalty over the centuries too, as well as other welknown people. Two minutes away is the parish church. It was built on the foundations of a former church where Alfred the Great married his wife Elswitha of the Gainas Tribe. You have the River Trent a stones throw away from the Old Hall too, with a purpose built path along the river up to Trent Bridge that goes past all the old waves, and a fair few building turned into exclusive flats. There is a stunning walk from the Trent Bridge along the bank where you can walk past West Burton Power Station. Back in the town, there is the Heritage Center which chronicles the history of the town which is absolutely fascinating. I was born there, but had to move 10 years ago for work.
I always come back to this place. I was last there in April. It was blowing a hoolie on top of Mam Tor, it nearly blew me off my feet but it was a stunning view.
Thank you for this video. Although I live in a city, my heart will always be country. Towns and small cities. This one has some lovely brick work eg Bulls head pub.
That brought back some memories! Back in college days, whole group of us walked over Mam Tor, starting at Castleton. Wouldn't have been a student thing if we missed a pub call at the beginning, or at the completion.
Hi never got to he castle, maybe next time, the scenery should be great from up there, as for the Blue john Mine and Cavern wear something warm its really cold down there😊
@@myrtleking7251 it would depend on the size and make of your camera really as each gimbal does different things for different sizes so you need one that fits and works perfectly What are you thinking of filming on?
Should be entitled half a village walk missed some of the more interesting places out , still interesting but should have walked the back streets especially upto devils arse

I too am a city dweller with the same love for the countryside as yourself by the sound of it!

Looks deserted so sad 😭

A place I’ve never visited yet looks nice, I bet it’s teaming with people in the summer
It gets busy but never too bad as most visitors are walkers and they head out into the countryside
Superb videos !
Thanks a lot!

The building opposite the school is called the chapel and is the hq of the technical speoloigy group a caving club i was a member for 20 + years
Oh crikey I didn't know that! The amazing little places tucked away that aren't that obvious always surprise me!
Looks quite a nice place pity they didn’t grit their pavement but it looked a nice day 😊
It was a lovely quiet peaceful walk but with dodgy ice!🤣
They dont grit the paths because if they do an someone slips they can be sued and are liable where as if they dont grit the paths they aren't liable..

Why not???

They need to change their ways then - it’s a breadcake! 🤣🤣
@@GimbalWalkTV It's a cob🤣🤣 The shape derives from a mixture of dung and hay used to build houses in medieval times.
